I realize that I failed to put my skills in the character. Will fix that late tonight. But have ranks in appraise, intimidate, geography, perception, sing, climb, swim, acrobatics, stealth
Cawin is a strix slave. His master was a pirate who had managed to capture him when he was young. It must have taken a great deal of work to condition him to accept authority without having to break his legs, but his master persisted and he was brought to heel. He was raised as a pet, considered little more than an oversized parrot, until he taught himself to speak Common. He was still a slave, and mostly a spectacle, but the crew decided that he could be a useful crew member as well. They taught him to fly ahead of the ship, and watch for suitable targets. In the event that he needed to defend himself, the crew gave him a musket they had captured buy no one knew how to use.
Within a few years, Cawin was considered a valuable memeber of the crew, the common joke was that the Strix was more useful than his master. Obviously this was a point of contention for the pirate that had found Cawin, but even he couldn't deny that the Strix's abilities made him useful aboard a pirate vessel. It was for that reason that he made a surreptitious deal with Captain Redtide. Cawin doesn't know the details of the deal, or really that he was betrayed. All that he knows is that his master told that they needed to have a chat at the Formidably Maid tavern while they were docked in Port Peril. No doubt the captain and crew of Cawins former ship would be rather unhappy to discover he'd been served up to a group of press gangers, were they to find out. The only thing in favor of Cawin's new ship is that he is accustomed enough to slavery that he might accept the explanation that he has been sold.
Description:
Like many Strix, Cawin is tall and wiry. He looks overly muscular, mostly because his body seems almost devoid of fat. His frequently bare back is covered in old brown scars, and a few newer red ones; lashes that trace an ugly pattern across his flesh. His skin and feathers are a bluish black, making him resemble a crow in flight from far away. His fingers and toes are tipped with short, sharp claws, that he somehow manages to manipulate as though they were soft. His ears are long and ponted, like those of a bat, or something close to horns. His hair is short, little more than a short patch of black atop his head.

Ahoy ye' swabs! First off, thanks for all the great character concepts and builds that have been submitted today. It is a varied lot, full of creativity and more importantly- overflowing with piratey potential!
* Sjurd, the list of submissions and their roles is extremely helpful. Thank you very much.
I'll be making my final decisions tomorrow. I'll also be starting the post for the Jade Regent PbP within the next 72 hours or so for those players who are interested in that campaign. I am aware that this process is moving rather quickly, but what can I say, I'm ready to get this ship on the water! You'll find that I'm a pretty avid GM and enjoy keeping the pace up.
To answer a few last minute questions-
A. Even with racial bonuses I'd prefer that starting stats cap at 18 max and 8 min.
B. The Aquatic Bloodline is very fitting for this campaign and can certainly be used.
C. I am down with the idea of an Inquisitor for Besmara. However, keep in mind that Besmara's faith focuses on supporting the alignment and lifestyles of most pirates. What villainy would you be rooting out in the Black Lady's name?
D. When it comes to alignments, I prefer not to deal with evil characters. While this is a pirate campaign, the party consists of "pirate heroes" to a degree and not serial murderers, rapists or worse.. (that be' the bad guys!) Lawful good characters may find life in the Shackles a hard mug o'rum to swallow, but I won't say no if someone has their heart set on it.
Party lists will be posted tomorrow and the ship should set sail by Wednesday!
I post again to show interest. Though given how may others have since raised a hand I am happy to just sit and watch atm.
I knew there'd be a deluge of responses once other time zones woke up. My side of the world has not let me have enough time to create a 'new' character, though I'd probably just throw in another 'Sunny'. (^_^)
Question for the DM. Are you allowing 'The Inner Sea World Guide' as a reference book?
Well, shiver me timbers! (I'm running out of pirate lingo here..) It's time to find out who will be crewin' this here adventure, Arr!
But seriously folks, this was a veritable haul of great submissions and the decisions were not easy ones. I took into account party balance, potential personality/alignment synergy and those players who showed interest in Jade Regent instead of S&S (That PbP recruitment goes up in a day or so btw).
A big thanks to everyone who showed interest in this humble pirate adventure!
With that being said, the party consists of the following-
Sjurd
Asmodios
Lorelei
Malack the Accursed
Urk the Green
Ye' swabs finalize your characters and get ready to hoist the sails!
Well Bref will hang out, in the pub. Anyone else on this thread want to start another S and S? Bref would like to submit himself. Perhaps he will rework and resubmit for Jade Regent.
