Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Skittershot!

The Heroes of the Licktoad Goblins had a really bad dream, where they were all killed and eaten by Vorka. In "reality", no one trusted Chuffy to go up to the canopy himself, so you were all able to partake of the licorice candy, curing your sickness. You split up the potions in a way that made sense (though not without some arguing), and managed to defeat Vorka and return to the Licktoads as heroes, fireworks in hand.

Same here, I will try to get it all together this weekend. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with posting in all of our games, so I apologize in advance if some of my posting suffers. Cyrus gets the majority of my creative efforts, sometimes I feel bad when other characters suffer for it, but it is what it is... (worst cliche ever, btw)

Poog continues to walk around the goblin encampment, puffing out his chest. Everyone is tired of hearing the story of how he killed his canine enemies, but that does not dissuade him from telling it over and over again.

He keeps his thoughts of becoming chief one day private... no sense in stirring the pot. Besides, Great Chief will call him when the time is right.

Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Skittershot!

You are the heroes of the Licktoad Tribe, living legends after you triumphed against the terrible goblin cannibal Vorka and recovered many fireworks from her lair. Your tribe used the fireworks to great effect, but one day while you were out scrounging for more fireworks, adventurers came into the swamp and wiped out your tribe. You returned to your home to find it in ruins.

Now homeless, you have decided to travel to the closest tribe of goblins you know about—the Birdcrunchers. Maybe they’ll have room for you to join! Only, now that you’ve arrived in Birdcruncher territory, something seems wrong. The Birdcrunchers appear unusually nervous and frightened, cowering around the entrance to their cave. They aren’t even trying to defend their territory. And now, a wrinkled old goblin with bulging eyes is waddling out of the crowd, approaching you. She’s obviously some sort of shaman—maybe even the chieftain. If anyone here knows whether or not you can join the tribe, it’d likely be her!

A wizened old woman approaches the homeless goblins. Her eyes bulge from her wrinkled face, and she walks hunched over, leaning on a gnarled wooden staff decorated with puppy tails and horse ears. She wears a ratty doghide gown cinched with a rope belt from which hang dog’s paws, a pair of horseshoes, a fearsomely large dead stirge, and the pickled and shrunken head of a bright blue mite. (see url=https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/15fGcUcJenAWr7eeY_PJEtk3iSdpHF2NNrkx I5AtkeOk/edit?usp=sharing]tactical map[/url])

“Well, well! What have we here? Licktoads, by the look of you, and from what I hear, orphans as well, hmm? Looking for a new place to live, I suspect? Well, you might be in luck, because we need new blood. Our own chieftains have been... lacking... in chieftainish ways. We’ve been having problems lately with an ogre and his fire-breathing boars, you see, and any goblins capable of killing the boars and driving off the ogre... or driving off the boars and killing the ogre... or... or whatever—well, they’ll not only be welcomed into Birdcruncher territory with open arms. They’ll be made chieftains, one and all!”

With that, the gathered Birdcruncher goblins suddenly animate into cheers and song. Eager and excited, they surge out of the cave to welcome their saviors, but suddenly freeze as the old woman shrieks out a command for silence. The goblins freeze in place, and she continues in a softer voice.

“But we can’t just assume you’re the stuff chieftains are made of. You might just be lucky. No, no... before we accept you as our saviors and before you’ll even have a chance to face off against Pa Munchmeat and his pig... I declare we have a Chieftain Moot!”

Yes, and when Chuffy be chieftain of tribe, soon he be chieftan of territory! But o' venom her, but o' poison there... easy peasy eyeball squeezy!

Chuffy is so excited, he breaks out into song.

"Wolfies howl and owlies hoot,
Gobbos sexy, froggies cute.
Kill big ogre, steal his loot,
We Chiefs! Now for Chieftan Moot!"

At the conclusion of each line, a new pimple shudders and bursts. When Chuffy is done singing he looks somewhat confused.

"Erm, what do for Chieftan Moot?" he asks, his excitement deflated a little by his ignorance.

Seeing that the (former) Licktoads agree to become chiefs, the Birdcrunchers erupt into cheers! A Chieftain Moot is a day-long festival of games and dares, a tradition among the local tribes when they need to select a new chief. Those goblins who wish to be considered for the role must endure a series of trials during the moot, which if they survive and win earns them the respect of the rest of the tribe.

Wise Mummy Sprattleharsh barks out a few orders, causing most of the Birdcrunchers to scatter and organize the moot for tomorrow.

"Me Wise Mummy Sprattleharsh. Me know you were Licktoads, but Licktoads now dead. You become Birdcruncher now. Maybe, if you live, you become Birdcruncher chief, and you go kill Pa Munchmeat and his pig, and become goblin heroes forever!"

So after a bit, Sprattleharsh shoos you out of her cave (you aren't chiefs, yet!)

Talking with the other goblins, you learn that Sprattleharsh is a figure of both terror and love for the Birdcrunchers. They whisper that she made one warrior who offended her vomit up a handful of spiny toads, and once set fire to a chief who interrupted her. One story even relates how she made a goblin who tried to curse the tribe write down the word “breathe”—after which he promptly forgot how to breathe and died on the spot. The Birdcrunchers happily confirm how wonderful she is, if asked, and how any new ruler would be wise to listen to her—or else.

You all get to spend a day and a night resting and preparing for the next day’s moot. Most of the Birdcrunchers spend the day preparing for the moot itself.

That evening, a huge feast is held around the cave’s central bonfire. The feast consists almost entirely of various bird dishes—seagull soup, charred grackle, raven’s-eye pudding, vulture-ups, spicy sparrow poppers, and squeaky beakies are just a portion of the often-challenging dishes presented to you all during the night. The feast also gives you all a chance to talk to the Birdcrunchers and learn a bit more about what’s going on in the region.

Chuffy diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1

When Chuffy asks his questions, he is answered with a description of the various critters nearby (his questions about previous chiefs are conveniently forgotten). Nothing out of the ordinary for goblins territories, so Chuffy gets even more confident that they'll do well.

Poog is answered by a local goblin, "We have a Chiefmoot every time we need to choose a new chief! We have three already in last year!"

As darkness falls, Wise Mummy brings out the fabled Crunchy Crown of the Birdcruncher Tribe—a crown made out of bird skulls and bones and wings and twigs. She places the Crunchy Crown near the bonfire, then proclaims that tomorrow, the Birdcrunchers will have a new chief, and this one will be able to kick that ugly Munchmeat ogre out of Ravenroost. She then reveals that whoever can prove her worth tomorrow at the moot will be granted the right not only to wear the Crunchy Crown, but also the right to loot the Chieftain’s treasure chest. At this, the Birdcrunchers oooh and ahhh appropriately.

So, the goblins celebrate throughout the night, and are ready to go in the morning for the first date.

First Date: The Blind Bird Shot!
The first dare takes place in a valley to the south of the Birdcrunchers’ cave. The chieftains-in-waiting are led to the center of the valley, blindfolded, and given a short bow and three arrows each (each contestant’s arrows have fletching of a different color from those of the other contestants so the arrows can be identified after they’re shot). The Birdcrunchers clamber into trees or sit on rocks that ring the valley while Wise Mummy Sprattleharsh explains the rules to the blindfolded contestants: She will release three cages of seagulls over the course of a minute, and the blindfolded goblins must shoot down as many of them as possible. The gulls in the first flock are worth 2 points, those in the second 4 points, and those in the third 6 points, but each consecutive flock is a bit farther away.

For each shot, you will need to make a Perception check, and then you can make your attack roll. If you perceive the target, and hit, you'll need to make a 50% miss chance as well. Finally, if you miss, you'll need to make a D20 roll. So, to sum up: Perception, to hit, miss chance, D20 for what happens when you miss (I assume you will ALWAYS shoot)

A failed attempt by the Birdcrunchers to build a bunch of huts on stilts left behind a haphazard arrangement of wobbly posts protruding from the boggy ground. The goblins have laid wooden planks across several of these posts, creating narrow bridges that stand 10 feet off the ground.

In this dare, the contestants all begin on the southern shore of the bog and are fitted with wide, clumsy, human boots. A single stirge on a 5-foot-long tether is tied to each of the red posts. The goal of this game is to kill as many stirges as possible (preferably by stomping, which qualifies as an unarmed strike, but any method of stirge killing is allowed) without falling into the swamp below.

Each of you is "fitted" with human boots, which are very cumbersome. Your movement is reduced by 5 feet, and your Acrobatics checks take a -2 penalty while wearing the boots.

Each plank and post is 1 foot wide, and slightly unsteady. It will take an acrobatics check to move along a plank.

Twelve stirges are tied to the posts, but have some play on their ropes. Killing a stirge earns you 2 points.

Falling off of a post or plank disqualifies you from earning any more points. When only one goblin remains on the planks and posts, the contest ends, and that goblin earns an additional 5 points.

Current Score:
Chuffy: 4
Mogmurch: 8
Poog: 0
Reta: 8
Rita: 8

You are all arrayed in front of the posts and planks, in your boots. Wise Mummy throws a thunderstone, indicating the start of the contest!

fort Mogmurch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

fort Reta: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
fort Rita: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Thunderstone:
You can throw this stone as a ranged attack with a range increment of 20 feet. When it strikes a hard surface (or is struck hard), it creates a deafening bang that is treated as a sonic attack. Each creature within a 10-foot-radius spread must make a DC 15 Fortitude save or be deafened for 1 hour. A deafened creature, in addition to the obvious effects, takes a –4 penalty on initiative and has a 20% chance to miscast and lose any spell with a verbal component that it tries to cast.

Chuffy, Mogmurch, and Reta are all deafened by the Thunderstone!

"WHY WISE MUMMY DO THAT? WHY CHUFFY NO HEAR? IS CHUFFY SPEAKING? CAN. YOU. HEAR. CHUFFY?" Chuffy gives up and moves to the base of one of the planks, taking the easiest one. Move action.

Acrobatics, boots: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 - 2 = 28

As he nears the stirge, chuffy makes a feint attempt, wisely trying to get the stirge off balance.

Bluff to feint: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Pretty sure Chuffy needs sneak attack damage to have any hope of killing one of these things - 1d3-1 probably isn't going to cut it! Unless they are considered flat-footed?

Rita cackles as Chuffy yells at everyone, choosing a different plank than him. But perhaps more rewarding...if only she can make the big jump! She steadies her nerves, then clomps down the plank to the left of Chuffy, trying to leap the water over to the plank filled with stirges.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 2 = 5-4 if breastplate is on

Rita doesn't even make it off the first plank, stumbling over her overlarge boots before ignominiously rolling off the wooden post into the fetid swamp below.

Chuffy jumps up and across and STOMPS the nearest stirge. The goo that remains on his human boots doesn't phase him in the least, as it looks like the puss that normally seeps out of his boils.

Rita moves out, but is very unstable on the planks. She stops cold, teetering, almost falling.

Just curious, did the wooden planks catch on fire? That was part of the plan... *snicker*

Shadow Lodge

Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Skittershot!

Planks did not catch on fire... they are pretty waterlogged having been in the swamp so long... part of the reason they are slick!

Since boot stomping is effectively an unarmed strike, it does count as finesse... but, it also provokes! I just double checked that.

Stirge readied attack vs touch on Chuffy!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Stirge AOO vs touch on Chuffy!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 (attaches)

Chuffy stomps the stirge that has attached itself to him! He lays down an awesome blow... sort of. The blood bug is still attached, but looks a little woozy.

Then the stirges go!
The stirges on Chuffy and Reta drink away, each dealing 1 CON damage.
The stirge next to Reta attacks...
Stirge vs touch on Reta: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 This one also attaches itself to Reta, who takes another point of CON damage. Reta is starting to look a little pale.

The other singed stirge flies up to Chuffy, to take a little drinky-drink.
Stirge vs touch on Chuffy!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 and this one also attaches... slurping away, Chuffy takes another CON damage.

None of the other stirges have the reach to get to a goblin.

Rita, Reta, then Poog (one at a time).
