Scythe isn't a reach weapon... so he is out of reach of the scythe. Think about it this way. The ground is the first square. 5' up (above the heads of the characters) is the 2nd, and he is in the third vertical square.

Boys, I am so sorry for not reading Vox's post properly. I'm a total numpty!

Arturo takes a step back (as per previous post's 5 ft step), draws out a potion of cure light wounds (move aciton) and swallows it down.

Potion CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Just while we're on the topic, how high would we need to vertically jump in order to grapple the alchemist's feet?

I read it wrong. d'oh!

Sven hits the snake, but does not quite destroy it. Its metal skin seems to protect it from some of the damage.

You would need to jump at least 5' high to get an attack on the alchemist. That is a DC20 jump check, or DC40 standing jump.
Arturo looks pretty shaky as he draws out a potion of Cure Lights, and gulps it down. His wounds miraculously heal as the potion takes affect.

The alchemist looks a little wobbly as he pulls out his next bomb, surveying the room for his target. As at least the wolf is able to hit him, he chooses to levitate up a little higher (now he is at the 4th square, near the ceiling. DC 40 to reach him with a running jump, 80 with a standing).

He gives a lopsided grin as he casually tosses the bomb down on Vox. The explosion reaches the Strong Brute, the statue, and Roudi (and his mount).
Sven and the statue are not in gas, the rest are.

Apparently I missed a reflex save for Strong Brute up top... adding it here.
Strong Brute Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 (fails save - damage stays the same)

Krenar bomb: 1d20 + 11 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 11 - 2 - 2 = 8 fire damage: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2) + 6 = 15 (plus Burn, 10’ splash: 6/9fire - reflex DC15 for half)
Amazingly, the alchemist misses!
Roudantaimi: Ref: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 (4 fire)
Sven: Ref: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 (3 fire)
Vox: Ref: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 (9 fire)

Is there burn from the spash damage? BTW, Roudi has touch AC of 17 against Krenar, from Smite.

Fire and brimstone surround Roudantaimi, but the gnome escapes with small burns and blackened hair. However, fearing for his valiant steed, he orders Tahmatassu to retreat to a safer location. While his mount is moving, the gnome is using the best of his time to reload his weapon.

Burn only happens on direct hits.
The construct now tries to pound on the snake.

It manages to hit twice, but while the first is just a glancing blow, the second manages to dent the cobra, a bit.
The snake then attacks the Strong Brute.

Can't wait until we get high enough level for the occasional dispel magic to stop crazy sh*t like this floating dude.

"Nice work, Jaender! Anyone else have a ranged weapon? Forget the snake! Come on, he can't withstand all of our attacks!" Doesn't look like he's immune to fire... maybe this will work. Arturo pulls out a vial of alchemist's fire (move action) and throws it at the floating Alchemist (attack action).

The alchemist's fire misses Krenar (note: there needed to also be a -2 for range, because Arturo was about 15' away from Krenar, and alchemist's fire has a range band of 10'). miss direction: 1d8 ⇒ 7 It hits the wall behind Krenar, and splashes him for 1hp damage.

Krenar Half-face then contemplates who he is going to bomb next, and chooses to attack the sorcerer that has been pinging him with magic missiles.

Jeander also realizes that this alchemist evidently had a faulty verson of the shield spell running, in that his magic missiles should not have been doing damage. However, he thinks that his spell would not work a third time. (read, the GM f'd up, and forget the spell was there, but didn't think it was fair to retcon at this point.)

Vox and Roudi are up. Jeander is next, but will be burning at the start of his turn, so I'd like the other two to go, first.

I wondered about that... The first cast was the test to see if he had it up. I will switch to something different, if I can put the flames out... I appreciate that ruling too!

Arturo lines up another flask of alchemist's fire, emboldened by the still-there scorch marks on Krenar caused by the splashed fiery liquid from before. My last one.

"Die, you twisted bastard!" yells the rogue as he flings the highly flammable substance at the alchemist.

Alchemist's fire vs Krenar (ranged touch attack), range penalty: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 2 = 23
Fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Move action to draw, attack action to throw.

Takes another 1d6 next turn if that was a direct hit - at a 23, I f*cking hope so!

The fire hits the alchemist, but the javeline does bounce off. Krenar drinks from the glass flask he has been holding on to (see his picture), and the wounds are instantly healing. He is still burning, but looks a lot healthier.

@GM Silbeg: As per the discussion thread: how high is the ceiling? Also, Vox forgot the bless. Would a 21 have hit? I know it's only another +1, but worth checking.

Lacking for further alchemist's fire, Arturo instead retrieves a vial of acid. It's not as effective as the fire, but it should do about as much damage as his shortbow would - and it won't need to pierce that invisible shield in order to be effective. (move action to retrieve)

Winding up as powerful a throw as he can manage, Arturo hurls the acid at Krenar. (attack action)

Acid flask vs Krenar touch AC, range penalty, bless: 1d20 + 6 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 6 - 2 + 1 = 21

What the PRD says:
Enlarge Person

School transmutation; Level sorcerer/wizard 1

Casting Time 1 round

Components V, S, M (powdered iron)

Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)

Target one humanoid creature

Duration 1 min./level (D)

Saving Throw Fortitude negates; Spell Resistance yes

This spell causes instant growth of a humanoid creature, doubling its height and multiplying its weight by 8. This increase changes the creature's size category to the next larger one. The target gains a +2 size bonus to Strength, a –2 size penalty to Dexterity (to a minimum of 1), and a –1 penalty on attack rolls and AC due to its increased size.

A humanoid creature whose size increases to Large has a space of 10 feet and a natural reach of 10 feet. This spell does not change the target's speed.
If insufficient room is available for the desired growth, the creature attains the maximum possible size and may make a Strength check (using its increased Strength) to burst any enclosures in the process. If it fails, it is constrained without harm by the materials enclosing it—the spell cannot be used to crush a creature by increasing its size.

All equipment worn or carried by a creature is similarly enlarged by the spell. Melee weapons affected by this spell deal more damage (see Table: Tiny and Large Weapon Damage). Other magical properties are not affected by this spell. Any enlarged item that leaves an enlarged creature's possession (including a projectile or thrown weapon) instantly returns to its normal size. This means that thrown and projectile weapons deal their normal damage. Magical properties of enlarged items are not increased by this spell.

Multiple magical effects that increase size do not stack.

You guys don't make this easy for me ;)

As Vox's arrow bounces off the shield, it appears that it deals its damage, nonetheless. The alchemist slumps, and the flask in his hand falls to the ground. Arturo quickly dives to catch it (instead of throwing his acid). Half-face, however, does not manage to fall, held aloft by the magic he imbibed.

end of combat

You guys did well... and got lucky at times. You had enough ranged stuff to hurt him. Good thing you remembered the stuff you had found here... or that Arturo carries an alchemy store in his haversack.

Eventually, the body falls to the ground, as the spell's duration expires. ON him you find another another potion, a wand, 2 acid flasks, 2 alchemist's fire, a smokestick, and a tanglefoot bag. He also has a dagger at his waist, and an iron key. There is also the flask that he dropped.

In this room, there is alchemical equipment and notes worth about 500gp, and a small chest containing his formula book, a bag with 154gp, 55sp, and 82cp, and a vial with a single dose of some magical liquid.

You are able to determine that the key fits into the iron door in the room at the SW corner (where the statue attacked).

Potion:
spellcraft: Ophiuchus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
spellcraft: Jaender: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Wand:
spellcraft: Ophiuchus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
spellcraft: Jaender: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Flask:
spellcraft: Ophiuchus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
spellcraft: Jaender: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Vial:
spellcraft: Ophiuchus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
spellcraft: Jaender: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Unfortunately, the two casters are unable to identify anything (but, it will be on your chronicle!)

Ophichus does determine that the Strong Brute has been exposed to some disease, and may come down with something.
