Raises a good point about feats, too... anyone want to take precise strike with me?
Vox will be taking it (and then Einhardt will get it automatically by extension), so you've got two options to flank with :)
As well as Tandem Trip and Outflank, if you like those options better

12 dex - so close
Vox Banner |
Let's do it! So much of being a rogue requires flanking anyway. Awesome. I can flank with Einhardt while you make it rain (arrows).
Sounds good, my friend. The only caveat being- Vox will be up in the thick of it as well, swinging for the fences with his lucerne hammer :)
Vox Banner |
Did we just become best friends?!
Yep!
GM Silbeg |
Good job guys, hope it was as much fun for you as it was for me.
If you want to make any other purchases, it will be for your NEXT chronicle, not the Accursed Halls, since I've totaled them out already!
FYI - I assigned 3 CLW charges each to Jaender, Arturo, and Ophiuchus, the only ones with wands.
I'll be starting a new thread/campaign for The Forgotten Laboratory in a little bit. We'll be saving some of the stuff (like the document with the locations, etc), but otherwise I think it'd be easier to start fresh. Opinions?
Oh, and for timing if this is the group that will go through Bonekeep 1 & 2... I think you should do it after you finish The Dark Menagerie, which will put you at level 7. A couple of you will level 8 for The Sanctum for a Lost Age, but that's probably fine.
There is a gap between The Enigma Vaults (3-5) and The Dark Menagerie (5-7) - so I'll fill in there with a couple of scenarios. Or, if someone else wants to run scenarios, I am sure I can find it in me to play ;)
So, get yourselves leveled up, and we'll get started next week!
_Ophiuchus_ |
Thanks so much Silbeg. I always have fun! Ophiuchus is mostly updated, still tinkering with a few ideas.
Vox Banner |
Agreed! Thanks for running it, that was a lot of fun. I can't wait to start the next one!
Roudantaimi |
Thanks for the module! I'll level-up Roudantaimi during the weekend. Oh, Roudantaimi has a wand too, he could have taken some charges. If you marked them already, maybe he'll take a bigger share next time...
Jaender the Black |
Thanks again Gm Silbeg! Jaender is mostly leveled up, just have to decide what else I spend gold on from our conversation earlier. Going to tweak a couple of things, then I will get it all updated this weekend. Only one more level until I can cast level 2 spells.... mwahahahahahah!!!

Strong Brute |
I believe I am leveled up. Took Precise Strike to get all teamworked up. Scythe is not reach, so we'd just be able to pile on 3 (Vox, Arturo, and myself). Still, between the three of us shelling out an extra d6, plus Arturo's sneak, we'll be able to most things that can be dealt with in a melee manner.
Have almost 1500 gold...any suggestions for what I should spend it on? Thinking of magic armor, or saving to get a magic weapon (since my main contribution is damage output, not AC, I'm thinking).
Arturo the Swift |
Don't forget Einhardt, Strong Brute! That's 4 of us. Mmm. Tasty. I'd recommend magic weapon first before armor. Not sure what the gold output is for the next module, though, it may be a moot point (ie. maybe you can get the armor now because you'll get enough GP for a weapon next module anyway).
Anyway, I'll level soon. Thanks for the game, GM Silbeg! Awesome fun as always.
As an aside, did I miss the bit where we got the clue about ROY-G-BIV? Or was that just some (farking brilliant) deduction on Jaender's behalf?
GM Silbeg |
@Strong Brute - With your AC, Strong Brute, you'll need a lot of work to get up to "decent".
But, here's a suggestion which will bring you to AC19 before raging...
Use 2PP to get a Dragonhide Breastplate (0gp).
1000gp will get you +1 on that.
Or, just spend 1350 on +1 Breastplate, and spend 2PP on a CLW wand.
@Arturo - you missed the only clue (which was not in the dungeon, but in the town), but no where did it directly suggest ROY.G.BIV.
Jaender the Black |
I'm curious, what was the clue?
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Silbeg |
You haven't seen it it. There are people in town that you haven't talked to. You might have a clue to where the clue is, can't remember.
Since it doesn't spoil anything any more, the clue was "Red on top"
Jaender the Black |
Information is updated, still have some minor things to do, like adding the links and updating my tag line. Otherwise, Jaender is updated.
Purchased:
wand of stumble gap with 2PP, ring of spell knowledge I (to add vanish to my spell list), 2 wrist sheaths, masterwork light crossbow.
sold light crossbow.
Roudantaimi |
Level-up done, character updated. Still haven't decided all purchases (but they can be done once the next game starts / or done later...)
GM Silbeg |
Unless people care, I've connected this discussion thread with the new campaign thread.
Feel free to dot in at The Forgotten Laboratory
I'll be adding in the briefing and all through the day.
Also, could you please list out your purchases, and the total cost, so that I can start adding them to your chronicles (I am trying something this level).
Really, all I really need is the ITS # you purchased on. Note: your previous chronicles are "closed" so all purchases will be on the new one.
Also, in the same post, could you list the following:
Ref save:
Fort Save:
Will Save:
Initiative: (Vox include Einhardt if it changed)
Perception:
Sense Motive:
Diplomacy:
Intimidate:
Spellcraft (if any):
Any knowledge skills (by type):
This will help me update my chart with your rolls. Thanks!
Arturo the Swift |
For whatever reason, I haven't been able to get Hero Lab to reactivate my license when I updated it. Waiting for the developer to get back to me on that one. Until then, Arturo will remain level 2. If it comes down to it, I can do a manual level up but I'd really rather not. They say 1-2 days.
*sigh*
Arturo the Swift |
If we've got some roleplaying to do in the meantime, please don't delay just because I don't want to manually level up. If action is about to happen (ie. I see initiative) I'll quickly level by hand.
We needed to go into Daggermark and report still, right? Also, I suspect we'll have to do some of the more expensive shopping there.
GM Silbeg |
Exactly.
I assume you've done your reports... I am working on creating the Venture-Captain briefing.
Arturo the Swift |
Arturo is done! Grabbed a (free as it turns out) secondary license for Hero Lab to bypass the licensing issue. Still don't know what happened to my primary license!!!
Anyway, Arturo is now done. The big changes?
- Combat reflexes (combat trick) -- Open to better suggestions for a rogue talent. I was thinking of Combat Expertise so I could do improved feint, but I'm relying on flanks instead, as evidenced by...
- Precise strike
- Masterwork scimitar
- Muleback cords (no more carrying my sack, Mr. Brute, thank you!)
- Rank in linguistics so I can: speak goblin!
GM Silbeg |
Arturo,
from my experience, I would definitely go with Combat Expertise rather than Combat Reflexes. Improved Feint will help you much more in the future, and there are now a whole slew of feats that work off of it.
On the other hand, I haven't tried Combat Reflexes, but my gut reaction is that you don't often get multiple AoOs.
Arturo the Swift |
Having a look at that thread... feint partners + gang up could be blisteringly good if Vox and Einhardt also get it. We'd be flanking always (if we all got in), and we'd have a slew of options for attacks of opportunity and dealing extra damage... without needing to worry about positioning! Mmm.
Vox Banner |
Let me check into it for them, if nothing else the next time we get feats :)
Vox Banner |
I don't know how much Vox and Einhardt will be feinting because it's a standard action. Can Arturo feint as something other than a standard action, I.e. I assume Arturo has improved feint, is that right?
Vox Banner |
I'm down if I can build up the feats, I'm really digging the potential tactics and possibilities with this group. Plus I never get the chance to use teamwork feats, except maybe as an inquisitor :)

Solo tactics with the Inquisitor is pretty awesome. I have one I'm playing in real life, and he's pretty awesome when he has melee support, and he has a 15 point buy.

Roudantaimi on a giant gecko? F*cking awesome.
@Vox:
FYI, the feat tree is as follows:
- Feint partner: Opponent loses dex bonus against both partners' next attacks (requires 1 rank in bluff, will give Vox and possibly Einhardt bonuses when Arturo feints)
- Combat Reflexes: AoO when flat-footed, AoOs up to dex bonus. (essential to take full advantage of the next feat anyway - and Vox has a +2 dex, so that's 3 AoOs per round)
- Improved feint partner: Successful feint provokes an AoO from all with that feat. (+6 base attack bonus required)
Options that make Arturo better but that Vox & Einhardt don't necessarily need...
- Combat Expertise: Sacrifice to hit for AC. (Int 13 required, and Vox meets that)
- Improved feint: Bluff as a move action instead of a standard. (Combat Expertise required, Vox would need to invest in bluff to make this worthwhile for him.)
- Greater feint: Opponent loses dex bonus against everyone for 1 turn (Need a +6 BAB, but make your opponent flat-footed to all for 1 round? Awesome... but probably a wast for Vox, maybe a waste for all given the bonuses above)
So, Arturo (and possibly Vox & Einhardt) gets Gang Up at some point, and then no matter the position, he can use precise strike and deal sneak attack damage... and provide attacks of opportunity for Vox and Einhardt (and if Vox invests some ranks in bluff, he can do the same for Arturo). With combat reflexes, the AoO / precise strike and sneak attack chain could be enormous. We add in some other teamwork feats like Outflank and we could be unstoppable!
Vox would probably need some special item or vanity or something to give him bluff as a class skill to make it truly worthwhile.
Anyway, I'm up for it if you are. We get many of the benefits by having Arturo with the improved feint chain + outflank and precise strike with Gang Up anyway. No idea where we're pulling all these feats from. Sounds like we wouldn't get there until at least 9th or 10th level anyway!
GM Silbeg |
The problem for Einhardt is that he'll need a INT3 before he can start working on this.
An AC needs INT3 to choose any skill or any feat (that he can reasonably use).
GM Silbeg |
I don't think so, but feel free to find the citation if I am wrong. AC's are pretty limited in what they can take.
Cyrus the Flea |
Hunter tactics allows the Hunter to give his ac teamwork feats, even if they don't meet the pre reqs - they get this ability at 3rd level
