Koraq's eyes glare is struck; however, he keeps a cool demeanor as he swiftly analyzes his opponent, watching the giant's movements before his eyes turn red, his nails forming into claws. Ralph and his air elementals are still up, followed by the fist.

"The sand fist continues to attack even after its conjurer has fallen. This means that it has been imbued with some independent sentience, and if that it so..."

Ralph directs the elementals to attempt to grapple the thing. Unfortunately, it is far to strong for them, and throws off their attempts with ease. At this point, however, it collapses into a pile of dust and sand.

Ralph, please always be explicit about which spell you are starting to cast. Which level summons is this? Thank you!

Kol Voss looks around, but it is clear that he cannot see yet. Muddy tears stream out of his eyes, through the grit and sand that coat his face. "Where are they! He yells."

Auris can take an action to finish up the round, but cannot see yet.

Adril’s thrilled laughter echoes throughout the arena. “Well done, my little apprentices. You’ve bested my pets. Now face my CHAMPION!”

At that moment, doors open on the north side of the arena, just below the luxury box. A human male, dressed in the regalia of an Ulfen jarl, and two multi-legged beasts step from the darkness.

The Ulfen jarl bellows out towards Koraq, “If you could have foreseen this, I bet I would have frozen to death! I can’t wait to share the story of your demise with Natalya.” Koraq instantly recognizes the voice of Skelg the Ripper, Adril’s sparing partner and, apparently, now his champion in Arl.

Ralph creatures:

These are Empyrean Behirs, air-infused version of their Golarion counterparts. They have an electrically charged breath weapon, elemental bodies (not completely like an elemental, but a weaker version), and are immune to electricity. They are vicious melee combatants, too, able to grab with their bites, and rake with six of their claws, as well as swallowing creatures whole. They can also turn into a gaseous form once per day, and can fly with astonishing grace.

FYI - this is how I do the knowledge checks -- I do not typically play "ask questions" but I guarantee I will give you useful information. I also tend not to give the information completely in game terms.

Reasoning from effect, the arena seems to be a powerful force wall of some sort. Since the effect is invisible, you cannot quite tell how big it is, but you'd reason that it covers the entire spectator area.

Ralph notes the new arrivals and the wounds of his comrades with consternation. He quickly draws on the portion of Baba Yaga's power vested in him to hasten the completion of his spell. Noting that the behirs are able to fly, he decides the he will need to end the battle quickly and decisively, or else prevent the new arrivals from closing on on his allies in their vulnerable state.

"Fire elementals then," Ralph mutters to himself as 1d3 ⇒ 3 medium fire elemtals appear in the way of the so-called champion.

"Foolish little man! If you could have foreseen this, you would have begged to have been frozen to death. You were pulled from the ice for one reason and one reason alone - your destiny was to BURN by my hand!"

"Geatan, this man here is kindling nothing more."

Ralph draws his metamagic rod as he speaks, and begins a harsh incantation.

"Darkness beyond twilight
Crimson beyond blood that flows
Buried in the flow of time
By my name I pledge thee to fire
Let ye fools who stand in my way be destroyed
by the power that I possess...
PYRE OF THE ENSLAVED DRAGON!"

The air in the arena becomes almost unbreathable as a glowing orange magical rune appears below the new arrivals... and erupts into a white hot pyre of fiery death.

A pair of fireballs are thrown by Ralph, dealing a huge amount of damage. The nimble but huge creatures seem to get missed by the bulk of the fire, and the Ulfen also misses the worst of one of them.

The crowd gasps as the fireball hits an invisible wall, not going any further than inches from the stone wall of the arena, and going up at least 20 feet. Adril, however, doesn't flinch as the fire hits the wall.

Ralph raises a bemused eyebrow when he sees that all three of them still stand, though he is also satisfied to see that they still took substantial damage.

He quickly shouts commands to his elementals, coordinating their movements to form a wall while trying their best to bring down the behirs.
Since they have not acted, I believe they are still flat-footed

Air elemental 3 will 5ft up and full attack the red behir.

slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Finally, air elemental 2 will move up beside air elemental 1 and attack red, or blue if red is down.
slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
confirm: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17 damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Finally, seizing the opportunity while the behirs are still flat-footed, Ralph will direct the fire elementals to move and interpose themselves between his allies and their enemies.

If either behir is still conscious, Ralph will call out to Geatan.

"Geatan! Aim for the behirs first! Bring them down!"

If or when both behirs are down, Ralph will smile contentedly and fold his hands, smirking contemptuously at Skelg as Geatan uses him for target practice.

Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Skittershot!

You don't think it is permanent, rather that it last for a period of time after you are out of the dust clouds. That period has not concluded yet. And, yes, immediately after defeating the first round Adril sent out the next. Without giving you a chance to recover, because he is an a!*%$~&.

Skelg is carrying a nasty looking greataxe, wearing remarkably beautiful elven chain, and wears a broad belt.

I will let you know the results of the elementals once I get to work. But, Géatan can go, with descriptions of "I attack x until it falls, then move to y, finally finishing with z"

Shadow Lodge

Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Skittershot!

The blue air elemental flies up, and attacks the red behir. It misses with its first attack but successfully slams it on the second. The red elemental also attacks the red behir, hitting it hard, dropping it, though it is clearly not dead yet. It then swings at the other behir, missing it.

Finally, the green air elemental slams into the blue behir, almost catching it in the throat, but the beast manages to move out of the way at the last moment, only taking it in the shoulder. However, this appears to be enough, as it slumps to the ground. It also is obviously not dead, yet.

FYI - any of the blood spatters are actually huge corpses, so are difficult terrain, at best.

Géatan, please be explicit which abilities you are using... just to be clear. So, for example, I assume you were using a fire arrow on the first hit? How many do you get per day (it looks like 2 from your character sheet). When you are getting additional bonuses, such as point blank, or are using things like rapid shot or deadly aim, it would be nice to have them called out. I try and do the same on my attacks (as an example, see my attacks as the Red Giant). Thank you for understanding.

Total damage to Skelg if all shots hit (which they do against his AC16) is 71+39+30+30=170 (less DR, and yes, I know you have clustered shots.

Géatan launches a flurry of arrows at Skelg, killing him outright.

Kol Voss, who's eyes clear, yells out, "Adril Hestram! I challenge you to single combat in the Right of Ascension for control of the Starsword! Face me now!"

The crowd goes deathly quiet at this challenge. Adril ignores the challenge, and the crowd starts to get antsy, calling for Hestram to take up the challenge, as is his duty. Even the princess, Kol Voss's sister, who is chained to the ground, shouts here contempt, calling Hestram a coward.

until Kol Voss once again yells. "Adril Hestram! I challenge you to single combat in the Right of Ascension for control of the Starsword! Face me now or be seen a coward!"

"No, I think not!" shouts Adril Hestram back at Kol Voss. The crowd take a definite turn for the worse, starting to mob towards the royal booth, and Hestram unchains the princess, throws her over his shoulder, and flees through the back of the booth.

Auris:

Champion of Freedom,
You likely received this missive from a man Eliza Petulengro identifies as her man inside the Grand Lodge. Little does she know that he’s an Eagle Knight spy. He has another mission for you in the Grand Lodge itself, but he’s been instructed to give that to you personally at a later date. For now, though, he tells me that Eliza is likely to send you to Akiton, the fourth planet from the sun, to chase down that vile miscreant Adril Hestram. I know little of that world, but what I know frightens me. It is a bastion of slavery and corruption, where people are treated little better than furniture. Do your best to free these slaves—break the chains you see and tend to the people’s wounds. They deserve better.

Also, Eliza’s man tells me its likely Venture-Captain Odrian was worshiped as a god on Akiton—specifically an Azlanti god. Do not allow any Akiton creatures you come across to believe you’re a deity. Not only is it blasphemy, it’s the worst sort of despicable treachery. Tell them the truth, Hero of Andoran, and the truth will set them free.

Ralph starts surveying the situation whilst his companions wait for their vision to clear.

"That wall of force should have already taken substantial damage from my fireball, but those things are notoriously resilient. Koraq and Geatan, you should see to your wounds first," Ralph declares as he motions to air elemental 1 to check how high the wall of force extends.

He directs the remaining elementals to free the captured men (either slamming or slowly melting the links of their chains) while he speaks with Kol Voss.

"Alright, Kol, this was your great plan. What now?"

I could dimension door us past the wall of force. We can leave Kol Voss behind to tend to his companions, but we might be heading right into another fight, so Geatan and Koraq might want to heal themselves up as quickly as possible. I can use my infernal healing wand, but I have not bothered investing in UMD.

10 seconds is about 2 rounds, so Ralph will spend that time putting a charge of infernal healing on Koraq and Geatan each.

The wall completely covers the arena to a height of 30'.

Though you have this in OOC tags, Ralph, this sort of planning should be done verbally between characters, please. Do you want me to assume you spoke that out loud? I didn't think you had telepathic bond or the like up at this time. Sorry if it seems nit-picky, but there are reasons.

I didn't think it would matter, but if it does then yes, I am saying these out loud, though I will say it a little differently so Voss does not feel snubbed.

"I could use a dimension door spell to get us past the wall of force, or since it is only 30ft high, I could just have my air elementals carry us across. Kol Voss, if it's all the same to you, we will leave you to tend to your companions, while we pursue Adril."

"Koraq, Geatan, we might be heading right into another fight, so you should use whatever healing you have at your disposal. I do hope you are able to use your healing wands on your own. If not, perhaps Auris might be able to help?"

GM, can my 3 elementals just pick up Koraq, Geatan and Auris and carry us over the wall to Adril's booth?

"Yeah, I'm an old hand at this by now. You got a wand, I can activate it." Looking around the arena, he nods his head to the gate below the grandstand. "Maybe we save you the spell and see where the pincushion came through? Might get us to Adril."

The elementals confirm that there is no way into the seating area... that it is sealed off with the invisible wall. Auris checks where the behir and Skelg came through to find it also covered by an invisible wall.

"That is my sister he has!" yells Kol Voss. "I will not let the BEAST have his way with her! I am coming with!"

As this is going on, the crowds in the stands are getting even more rambunctious, practically at a riot's fury by this time. In areas, they are starting to tear the arena apart, but they haven't gotten through the guards to the royal's luxury box.

Ralph sighs, then nods.

"Very well, the dimension-door spell it is. Gather round when you are ready. Kol Voss, you too."

While waiting for Koraq and Geatan to heal up, Ralph will scan the area with detect magic to ascertain if there is any way to disable to wall of force from within, or if there is any trap awaiting anyone that attempts dimensional travel from within the arena, or any effect that might block or redirect such travel (especially the latter). His elementals also search the arena for buttons, controls or hidden exits.

Once everyone is healed up and ready, and if Ralph and his elementals find nothing of interest in the mean time, Ralph will cast his spell to transport Pathfinders and Kol Voss to the royal luxury box.

The halfling blinks, making his solid black eyes even more disturbing by the contrast of innocent confusion. "I leave the high horses to the judges, you must be feeling some temporal fatigue from the maze." Auris puts away his own wand and begins fiddling with the new toy. Ok... do what healing you want, and please add up the total time that it takes. Meanwhile I will move on a little

After group heals up, Ralph gather the group up, and tries to use a dimension door to move them to the luxury box. After a moment of disorientation, the Pathfinders realize that they haven't moved! Ralph postulates that this is not your ordinary force wall, even wondering if he damaged it at all at this point.

A few moments later, the mob breaks through into the royal box, and start smashing things. You all see a shimmering as a hole opens in the invisible wall, and then spreads out across the arena perimeter.

This was actually an impenetrable "Pactmaster force field" -- it could not be teleported through, nor could it be damaged in any way.

Please give me the the total time spent healing, and then you can move on.

Basically it was a bull-s~~$ plot device of railroad, you mean. I suppose there was no way to detect it either.

Ralph spits a curse when he realises what the force field had done to his spell, then shrugs when he sees the force field dissipating.

"Well, it appears the force field is fading anyway. But Adril already has a head start. Kol Voss, you know this place. Where would Adril go?"

Yes, it was a plot device to keep you from Adril, and in the arena.

"Aye, I can at least make an educated guess as to where he is going." Lead by Kol Voss, you make your way up into the stands, and into the luxury box. Behind the box, you can see a long hallway leading out of the stadium, leading to other hallways. Kol Voss is able to lead you through the maze, but as you are making your way through, you hear a a huge, booming roar.

Once you reach the outside, you see an airship — essentially a large sailing vessel similar to those on Golarion, but with leathery wings and stabilizers — sailing quickly up away from a nearby skydock trailing a cloud of thick black smoke. Dozens of citizens of Arl lay dead across the skydock and several other airships are burning. One ship, however, seems intact.

Kol Voss suggests, "We should take that ship and pursue! We have to save my sister!"

GM, how far away is that air ship?

"Yes, well, in the alternative I could just use a greater teleport spell to get us on to that ship," Ralph thinks to himself, then reconsiders.

"There might be some other bull-s@** teleportation-blocking forcefield around that ship as well."

Damn railroad plot-devices.

"To the ship then."

Shadow Lodge

Male Human (Minnesotan) GM 5 Skittershot!

As the team boards the remaining ship, they realize that they at least a mile behind, and at least a thousand feet below. Kol Voss lets you all know that his crew knows how to pilot the ship. All but two of his men go down to the engine room to power the artifact that powers the ship.

The ship takes off with a slight lurch, and after a few minutes, it becomes clear that your ship is easily gaining on Hestram's, which is trailing smoke behind it. It is apparent that his ship had taken damage in the process of seizing it, as you can barely make out several cracks near the airship's rear stabilizing wing.

Apparently, Adril's solution is Adril’s solution to escape Kol Voss is to pilot his ship higher and higher. As you ascend, the air grows thinner and much colder, as you push towards the ships' maximum altitudes. Ralph believes that it will get as cold as 10°, so suggests that the team should take precautions against this. He also conjectures that you should be able to overtake Hestram's ship within the next 10-15 minutes.

A this time, 30 minutes have passed since the arena fights. You could have used some of this time to heal up.
