"Alfsigr? A friend? I suppose you could call her that. Not that she'd understand you," Jens shrugs, unable to help a smile. "She's a horse - my horse, in fact. Coming on twelve now, she is, and becoming more and more like her sire every month." He nods in the general direction of the stables. "Wouldn't even know if Flynn here remembers her - lad never did take to the saddle well, did you?" He laughs as he jostles the younger man's shoulder again. "If you're watching the jousting later, you'll know her - don't think there's a stronger or faster horse around these parts. We breed them tough back home. She was quite a fiesty filly, too - I wouldn't have thought she had the discipline for war, but ah, how my wife took to her!" His eyes seem to drift to a spot far in the distance for a few moments, before he grounds himself.

"So, lass. I've talked at length, but you've said little of yourself. You claim to be a veteran of the Third Crusade, yet you appear half my age. Be you elf-kin? And would it be forward of me to ask for a blessing of Lady Luck before I compete this afternoon? Assuming they'll let an old dog joust, that is." The smile reaches his lips, but his eyes and thoughts seem to remain elsewhere.

Lantern Lodge

Selindra blushes as she escorts Iolana. She seems very embarassed by the praise and thanks she was given, but decides to simply accept it, and try to find someway to take the attention off herself.

She catches the final round of the bouts at the practice field, and smiles to Iolana. "Why don't we join these others. Apparently there is a nice tavern we can go to and relax?" She worries about the atmosphere of the place and that it might violate her oaths as a paladin, but she shrugs off the feelings as she is starting to truly feel the weight of her pack, and would like to get at least some rest even if it is just to sit off the street.

As she arrives to the Warm Respite, Selindra looks about and listens to some of the guests. She moves in to take a seat, listening to the others. I wonder what is going to become of all this. A festival, a time to forget pain, and then honor fallen. But soon we are going to be doing our tour. Soon we are going to be fighting along the walls, and on patrols like any others. Is it truly wise to participate in these things?

Selindra leans back, her gear on the floor beside her chair as she ponders things, absently watching the others speak.

Somewhat amused by Selindra' blushing, "That sounds like a good idea, why not." She follows along and sits with Selindra when they reach the Warm Respite.

Tats finds a little table as far from Liath as she can get and finishes her cigarette, filling the air with a small cloud of tobacco smoke, and a hint of roses. "You need to stop hating the Iomedaeans, Tats. It wasn't them who sent me out on that mission, and it wasn't you. I chose it. And why did you lie to that elf?"

Short post today. Merry Christmas.

Hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday!

Piousa puts a hand to her mouth, chuckling lightly. "I'm so sorry, I should have realized sooner that Alfsigr was your horse. And I most definitely will notice, she is a fine horse."

Upon hearing his statement and question, she shakes her head lightly. "No, I'm an Aasimar. One of my ancestors, supposedly on my mother's side, though I really wouldn't know, was blessed. Whether an angel or simply blessed, I don't know. But it sort of showed up in me." Pointing to the ground where her shadow was, the wings on it were fluttering softly. "About the only good thing to come of it, really, is my shadow. It's comforting, unique, truly mine. But with it come age, and I've seen many young crusaders come and go, mostly into the Worldwound. And a blessing? Well, I think I can do so."

Touching her silver holy symbol, she raises her right hand before Jens. Slowly moving her fingers over the holy symbol as her hand moves slowly. "May Desna grant you easy travels, gentle dreams and the best of luck in your endeavors that lay before you." Smiling, she steps a little closer and places a hand on his shoulder. "Be ready for challenges and unexpected friends."

Silver Crusade

Feeling the warmth spread through him to ease the pain of his bruise, Xantrius looks down at Drakra. "My thanks."

He is uncertain about staying for a moment, but their host's strange policy towards magic and her treatment of Drakra makes his decision clear. He dislikes injustice of any kind, and the gnome was merely giving aid.

"Surely a warning would be enough? I did not see any signs proclaiming that magic was not allowed, so how was he to know? Expulsion seems harsh for an innocent mistake."

He sits stiffly down at a table with Liath and motions for Drakra to join him. After a moment of silence he asks "Liath, you seem to know almost all we have encountered. How long ago did you join the Crusade?"

Liberty's Edge

Liath accepts a platter laden with two jugs of decent wine and a half-score leathern jacks from a waitress who's dress could not be called 'diaphanous' but could be called 'underwear'.

In the direction of Drakra she calls out,"Stay thy hand, merchant. Be of good cheer for Armasse. I'll vouchsafe for the natterpunk's tongue. Should he prove overly unrulsome, I'll kick his over-dressed behind out myself."

She pours four cups for all present, and fills a fifth should the gnome wish to take it. She addresses the group, and motions toward Godwin with her mug.

"No doubt 'twas too long to recall, but I recognize the good Godwin from a different time. As children we were gathered for the same ritual. Many would-be victims were saved, but varied factions were there to claim us, and we each were taken in different directions. Myself, I fell back with a friendly rogue who taught me to use this," she pats the polearm wrapped snug against her back,"and, at my insistence, ensured my safe passage to this grand city you see about you," she sips her wine, nods in appreciation of the vintage, and gestures grandly all about her. "I all but forced my way, as much as a child of seven can force anything, into the War College. Here I have studied and waited all my days." Her face grows hard, as if warring with strong emotions. "As far as I am concerned Khorramzedah the Storm Lord has stolen a childhood from me, and I will force reparation from him, an' Iomedae will it. If they wish to call the Fifth Crusade to share in it, that is their doing." She holds the frown a moment longer, then like the dawnmist parting before the morning her sun her face splits in a huge grin as she looks directly at Xantrius. "Though I do not think Khorramzedah will like it!"

The smile runs from her face as she catches Claylyth giving her a sidelong glance. "Your gaze lingers on me overlong this day, merchant. Is there aught you wish to say to me?"

Godwin Solace wrote:

Good Lady Clalyth.. what do you mean that this place 'will function as a tavern?'

Godwin is not a perceptive man

Claylyth holds herself back from giggling. Iomedae's influence on the region makes people hostile, sure, but sometimes delightfully naive.

"The Warm Respite normally functions as a place where war-weary soldiers, busy officiates, and wealthy visitors can relax and relieve themselves of the stress of the outside world. Usually, though not always with the attentive aid of one of my employees. If you wish for further information, ask your server for the 'back of house' menu."

Claylyth wanders the tables, making sure her guests have the food and drinks they wanted, and as she nears Xantrius' table and reprimands the gnome, she hears his rebuttal.

Xantrius wrote:

"Surely a warning would be enough? I did not see any signs proclaiming that magic was not allowed, so how was he to know? Expulsion seems harsh for an innocent mistake."

Claylyth, ever the prescient business owner, knows refuting Xantrius publicly could reflect badly on her. Never would she let a claim stand that her service was anything less than excellent. What she thinks to herself is:

I do apologize for the confusion. It has been previously unnecessary for me to post signage. The vast majority of my regular customers arrive with the understanding of the rules of this establishment, and given the local official opinion on magic users, and their likeliness to be 'witches' intent on disrupting and destroying everything we hold dear, I had, unfortunately to my detriment, expected nobody to be so unbelievably reckless in their behavior. The third crusade was, to a civilian's eyes, a desperate witch hunt which slaughtered many under dubious accusations. I have done everything to ensure that my business, already distrusted due to its nature, was not further imperiled by any claim, plausible or no, that someone here is responsible for witchcraft. The very lives of my employees depend on me, and no matter how innocent or beneficial the act, I cannot abide any magic that would put my people at risk.

And what she says is:
"I do apologize, but circumstances dictate magic to be unfavorable in the eyes of the town's officials, and thus, such acts must be forbidden. I shall, for now, accept the voucher Lady Gwenilian has provided for Mr. Worpltng. I will ensure you are compensated for your trouble."

Liath Gwenilian wrote:
The smile runs from her face as she catches Claylyth giving her a sidelong glance. "Your gaze lingers on me overlong this day, merchant. Is there aught you wish to say to me?"

"My apologies Lady Gwenilian. I have seen a familiarity in your face from someone I knew long ago. Coincidence surely. If you'll excuse me." with a courteous nod she did not believe in, Claylyth removes herself to her office temporarily. After closing and locking the door behind her, she places her back against it, and slowly slides into a slumped sitting position.

She knew Davin? She doesn't know what's happened? What are they doing that they execute their own soldiers and not even tell the others? Oh Davin. The horror you must have felt when you realized what had happened. Did you doubt me? Did you think me a monster? Surely your world must have cracked and shattered when you learned I was the very thing you were hunting. That you were taught to fear and hate. Did you think I'd used you? That mayhaps I'd cast beguiling spells on you? Did you loathe me as they murdered you? Oh Davin. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry.

Gramlag takes a seat inside the Warm respite with the others he takes the drink offed by Liath. Knowing speaking is just as important as listening Gramlag takes in the conversation around him. It seems there is alot of history in this town, the proximity to the world wound doing the expected damage to the citys moral as one could imagin.

It seems this place does meet some of my expectations, there are those here that would see enemys in every shadow when the true enemy is just beyond the walls, vigilance is important but not at the expence of the inocent he thought to himself.

He thought it odd that Xarious refuses to remove his armor in public but not being one to pry assumes that Xarious has his reasons that will come to light if they learn more of each other. it seems that all these people will have some bite to them or a skin thicker than an ox just due to the hardships this area has brought upon them. Gramlag drinks and lets those around him speak to each other and bond over past experiances, his dwarven upbringing being so diffrent and discimilar he assumes none would really find commonality in it.

After a week's worth of posts and RP, I am ready to make my decisions, and believe me they weren't easy. For this reason, I've got to a 5 person group, and because there were so many good submissions, I've gone to 2 tables of play

Before I show those who were chosen, please believe me when I say that there really weren't many that I would not have chosen given unlimited time and effort. It really came down to who fit in best with the groups. We also had a large number of martial characters, so I couldn't take them all. If there are any questions afterwords please PM me and I'm open to discuss it. Also keep in mind that if someone from a group can't maintain expectations, we'll need to fill a spot.

Here are the groups for both tables.

Table 1 (please respond in this campaign once you've read this, and once I get all five of you checked in, we'll start)
Clalyth Hatril
Iolanna Torlinni
Jens Varmodsson
Piousa of the Stars
Tatyana Selitov

Table 2 (Please check in to this thread Table 2. We'll get started once I get all five of you to check in.)
Ali Asaidi
Drakra Worpltng
Flynn Palomere
Godwin Solace
Selindra Shieldsister

Thank you all for the submissions and for your efforts. :D

Wow just get back to post again and find the tables are all set. Well good luck to you all.

Another chance to write my story! Thank you for choosing me, GM. It's entirely new faces for me this time, it seems - should be fun!

Selindra, Flynn - congratulations, and good luck at the other table!

Wow, thanks very much for taking so many of us on and for the pick. Good luck to everyone else in finding games.

Silver Crusade

Sigh, I am never going to get to play this! ;)

Congrats all, and have fun!

Awesome! And congrats to all!

Thanks for the acceptance. Now to see if Drakra can avoid getting himself and the rest of the party killed.

Woot. Congratz all! Thanks for the second chance GM!

We recently had the healer for table one who had to leave due to personal reasons, so we are looking for a healer, preferably of the divine casting type ;) I'll open the recruiting for a short time, and make a decision soon.

I will apply. Trying to get into a wrath game with Tarren here. Aasimar cleric.

Liberty's Edge

Hello again. =)

Mind if I throw my hat in the ring? I promise to play nice. ;-)

I've got a Purifier Oracle here. I don't actually mind taking the Life Mystery over her current one, the primary choice fitted far better with her concept and IC reasons, although if its what the group wanted, I'd prolly go back and fiddle with the background to make it work.

Backstory:

Lily Taharial was involved in magic from a young age, being apprenticed out to an elderly mage due to her parents vanishing just after she was born. Aria didn’t know where they went, or even if they are still alive – she was brought up in a temple of Iomadae, but it became clear the girl had some magical ability but it was uncontrolled. The church was prepared to offer up its own teachers, but an elderly man showed up claiming he was a relative, as well as skilled in the magical arts and would take responsibility for her. Lily looked up to her master, not only for giving her shelter, as well as guiding her through her curse, but also for help advancing her abilities through her sacred mystery, Occult, the ability to see ghosts. Try as Lily might, she couldn’t find her parents in the spirit world, although her abilities progressed unrestricted.
Life could very well have continued on like this for some time, had Lily not found discovered a sheaf of papers hidden in her masters study, off limits even in the best of circumstances. Inscribed within it, were instructions given by a demon, concerning her master and Lily herself. The papers detailed that the masters student should progress to mastering the possessive abilities of ghosts for their own use, as well as grooming Lily for further demonic purposes. Furious, Lily confronted her master, lashing out with a mental assault, and catching her master by surprise; she broke into his mind and discovered the relevant memories, proving the information was accurate. Leaving her former master shrieking in agony, she fled that very night, running off alone.

Isolated in the world, Lily struggled, as frequent use of her oracle skills reminded her that she could still be on the path that her master (and the demon), intended. She also lacked a master to progress her studies. She returned to the church that had initially taken her in, and found food and shelter there, but turned down offers by priests there to continue her studies, terrified of her own abilities. This terror was exasperated as she began to have nightmares of demons slaughtering her parents, other times she would see herself watching impassively, or worse, breaking into the minds of innocents for her own amusement. Unwilling to embrace her powers meant that she was unable to control them, leaving Lily adrift. At a loss, she began researching demons, specifically demonic possession, deciding she wanted defence in case she ran into a demon again. Eventually, she discovered a small group of Aasimir oracles, recorded in a long ago text. They were known as the Purifiers, and they sought to counter possession or other mind controlling effects. Lily understood her path, she decided to embrace her Aasimar heritage and become a Purifier, use her own mental abilities against her enemies, and destroy all who sought mental control over an unwilling individual.

Going to leave this up for a bit longer, till we have a good insertion point for a new character. Again, looking for a healer, preferably a divine caster.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Interested. Hoping to hear back from the DM on a PM I sent a few days ago.

Recently the game has lost its cavalier, and we are looking to replace him. The group consists of Paladin, Cleric, Bard. I'll be looking to replace the person quickly. The group is 3rd level at the moment.

Just out of curiosity, what type of replacement is the team looking for? Something martial or capable in melee?

I am also curious about this. I was leaning towards either an Arcanist, Wizard, or Ranger, all Humans, but I'd want to make sure that what I made fits in well with the group.

I'm also curious about if we should use standard WBL for level 3, and if Item Creation feats would work in Wrath. I've read the Player's Guide, but I don't know if there's really the downtime needed to make good use of them.

Grand Lodge

are you looking for a ranged character?

Definitely interested! I'll try and have a character up tomorrow.

Ortho was on his way to Sarkoris to unearth any ancient magics that were lost to time when the world wound opened. He had stopped over in Kenabres to resupply and ask some questions about the one crusader city of Dreznen and any hold outs that have survived. He was planning on leaving the city when the Festival began, he was not ready for the attack of the demons he was not ready to fight a demon as his parents had in the Elven home lands prior to dying.

Ortho awoke after the attack and has managed to survive by holding out in an abandoned home that he watched the demons and cultists leave after killing those left inside.

Presenting Quill for consideration.
I can have her done fairly quick if selected, as she's mechanically similar to something I'm playing in a face to face game.

Background and Personality:

Her foster parents only recently told her about her real parent's ill fated mission to the Worldwound, though she knew they were Riftwardens for a few years now. With the recent troubles in Kenabres she's been desperately trying to keep her foster parents safe from looters and demons alike. Luckily they came across Irabeth's resistance. Hoping her foster parents will be safe with the survivors, Quill is now looking forward to an opportunity to fight back against the demons that attacked her home.

Quill is an adventurous spirit stretched by feelings of obligation to two families. Her foster parents have spent their lives raising her, ensuring she had opportunities to learn her craft. Her real parents gave their lives doing good for Golarion and she wishes to carry on with their work.

I'm wondering the same. I've got a couple of different ideas, so I'd like to know what y'all are looking for to help decide on a concept.

I've got a character I've been prepping for WotR for ages - she's a Hospitaller Paladin though so I'm guessing that doesn't fit so well with a party that has a paladin AND a cleric. She's going to go into the Sentinel Prestige class rather than full pally though.

This is the alias if you want to look at the first level version.

In answer to the questions about "what we're looking for." Post what you want to play, rather than posting what you think we want you to play, and then trying to fit that character. I'd rather have a character that will be roleplayed well, interact with others and have a personality you can get behind.

Character Submission

Spoiler:
Imesah has always felt a deep connection to Iomedae. Orphaned at an early age, she was taken in by a sisterhood of Iomedae. The differences of her birth created a certain distance between her and her peers, and she retreated into the goddess’s arms. Her focus is on lawfulness, having grown up with a sense of safety and protection in the rules and regulations of the orphanage, so long as the rules are just and fairly enforced.

It seemed natural for her to progress into Iomedae’s divine order, yet as contemplation and prayer brought clarity, long-suppressed memories of her parents’ death resurface. The need to protect others, as her family were not protected, drove her from peaceable divine study into Iomedae’s militant orders. There, she found the divine power she’d always felt within her could affect the world through more than her own good works, driving off evil and chaotic outsiders. A quick study, she soon mastered Iomedae’s favoured longsword, and headed out into the world to protect innocents and dispense justice with a fair hand, trusting in Iomedae’s divine guidance to lead her steps to where she’s most needed.

Now, her steps have lead her to....

Backstory:

Holdan was born in Kenabres mere months before Khorramzadeh’s assault on the city, in which he cracked the wardstone. Growing up during the Fourth Crusade, he was often kept sheltered from the violence of the war by his mother Felana, a priestess of Iomedae, and his father, Darin, a guard for the city. Unfortunately, one day, 8 years into the Crusade, a demon broke through the defending lines, rampaging through the city, killing all in its path as the paladins and guards sought to contain the monster. In its rampage, it came upon the school Holdan was at and slew the teacher before turning to attack the children. The paladins finally managed to slay it, but not before it had slain or wounded over half of those there, including Holdan.

Holdan laid unconscious for weeks, his wounds bandaged, his mother by his side, praying to Iomedae daily. Many were impressed he had lived as long as he had, but they expected him to die in the end. Instead, he eventually awoke, and though his recovery would take another three months, he eventually was fully healthy again, although the scars left by the demon’s claws on his torso and legs remained, and he was plagued by nightmares of the experience.

Out of a desire to never again be in such a situation, he began weapons training with his parents, learning to use a Sword and Shield as the crusaders did. Though he had neither the aptitude nor the inclination to join the clergy or paladins of Iomedae, he nevertheless worshipped Iomedae, for he believed it was her blessing that kept him alive - regardless of the whispers that said he may have some trace of demonic heritage in his bloodline. He also began to study the demons, for he believed they must have weaknesses that could be exploited.

As he grew into adulthood, and the crusades ended, he joined the city guard as his father had done. Because he had taken time to learn about demons and study the texts about them, he was often assigned to accompany the patrols outside the city, where he was able to acquit himself well in combat against the occasional demon they would encounter, although none was a particularly powerful one.

Assigned to crowd control for the festival of Armasse, Holdan witnessed the destruction of the Kite, where the Wardstone was housed, and saw Khoramzzadeh’s attack on Terendelev. Moving quickly, he sought to funnel as many people to safety as he could, but demons began appearing amongst the crowd. Engaging them, he fought to delay for more time for the citizens of Kenabres to flee, and as he did so, a nearby building collapsed, and he saw nothing but darkness.

He awoke a few hours later, head pounding, to find destruction run rampant in Kenabres. The only people near him were already dead, and though there were no demons in the area, he was sure that they were still around. He gathered together what supplies he could, from the ruined area, and since then he has moved about the city, sleeping where he can find refuge, and helping those citizens he can find shelter and supplies. He has sought to find any other guardsmen, or crusaders, or priests - but he has found no one. And so, he fights a one-man war against the demons, and prays to Iomedae for deliverance, knowing that unless he finds aid, it is not a question of if he will die - but when.

Scarab Sages

Hi there,
I once played the start of this campaign but the gm at to quit just about when we hit lvl 4.

Introducing

Shiki Shendar:

Shiki decided at an early age to travel the world. The main reason for this being his huge family. 20 brothers and 16 sisters raised by a single mom. Needless to say it was crowded at the home and having something for yourself that defined you in particular was hard.
Shiki wasn't lucky on his travels however, near the world wound, by accident he stumbled in the path of a daemon that had evaded the wardstones. The deamon attacked and Shiki nearly croaked it. The deamon however was actually fighting a paladin and disregarded Shiki after it's initial attack. The battle was going badly for it and the last thing Shiki remembered seeing before falling unconscious was the awful vista of the deamon sprouted it's huge leathery wings and made his escape.
The Paladin had immediately chased the deamon in it's zeal leaving Shiki. A farmer on it's way to the next village to visit his ant(who told him she had found a wife for him and he was desperate) found the unconscious Shiki and wasn't sure what to make of it. It looked like an animal but it was wearing clothing. He took Shiki with him and dropped him off at the Church of Erastil. They took him in and when he came to they supported him in his new idea to become a paladin himself and find that deamon. The church soon realized however that he could never wear the armor of a paladin with his physics, therefor they trained him as a sanctified ninja. Shiki now takes his first steps out towards the worldwound as such.

Scarab Sages

Shiki is very inquisitive about the world around him and tries to make his mark on it via good deeds. He has a darker side as well that recently developed due to his experiance with the deamon. He feels a mixture of revenge towards the deamon and he wishes to protect the world against such evil things. Hsi reason for going to the worldwound is to find out more about the deamon, for he does not even known it's name, as well as training in the way of the ninja to attain the skills he needs to face it. He is also looking for the Paladin to thank him and find out about the deamon from him.

Hmm, I'll post a general outline for now, just to put some things onto the paper.

Backstory:

The life of an orphan was sometimes tough, and Ashnah Lialda tended to agree with this philosophy. Born to a pair of unknown parents, Ashnah knew almost nothing about them, beyond the fact that they were Riftwardens – a fact that had been told to her by her foster family in Kenabres. Even without being told that her parents had vanished attempting some sort of secret mission in the Worldwound – Ashnah knew she had an important legacy, and if she ever needed proof, the evidence was visible on her body in the shape of a spiral birthmark.
While some children might have felt honoured to have something marking them out as something special, Ashnah initially loathed the mark, it served as a constant reminder as to what she had lost – and the pressure she felt under to live up to expectations. Furthermore, a deeply irrational part of herself was angry at her parents for leaving her effectively alone in the world – while she had a foster family, she did not consider it the same.

Struggling with her feelings, Ashnah eventually came to terms with her parents passing, due to the blessings of Korada. While not overly religious, Ashnah nevertheless found peace for a time following some basic worship principals, and as a result, its one of the few deities that she closely identifies with, although recently she has begun to disagree with some of its stronger teachings.

With this “inner peace” became a rebellious attitude, and Ashnah ignored offensive branches of magic, instead seeking opportunities where she could create or enhance. She took a job as a fashion designer – and while it was hardly the type of town where this type of work would be popular – Ashnah enjoyed it more for her creativity. She liked creating, altering, adjusting and enhancing things most of all – far more than cutting aside enemies with scything blasts of lightning.
Things suddenly shifted however, when Kenabres experienced its most recent crushing attack by demonkind. With innocent lives lost, and then widespread destruction of the city (including her shop), being obvious, Ashnah reached her boiling point. Frustrated and lack of progress being made against the hordes of the Worldwound, she decided that it was time to embrace her Riftwarden Heritage, and the arcane power that flooded through her veins. If anyone could close the Worldwound, then perhaps a Riftwarden could, and while this was certainly an ambitious goal, Ashnah could see no other way forward. It was time to strike back, and perhaps finish whatever mission her parents had been on, seek revenge against who had removed them from her life.

Description and Personality:
Ashnah is a rather slender looking half elf, around 5”7 in height, with long dark brown hair, and fair skin. Ever the designer, Ashnah enjoys wearing clothing of her own design, usually something fashionable rather than practical, such as royal blue long flowing gowns – but then again, as a spellcaster, she prefers staying out of the thick of combat anyway. Highly creative, Ashnah always looks for all possible options or plans for a given situation or objective, trying to be versatile or creative with her solution, believing that it makes it more difficult to defend against. When she sets her mind to something, Ashnah will frequently pursue it with single minded determination.

Solian Rook Plumekith-Aasimar Inquisitor of Kelinahat, presenting himself for Healing, Sneaking or swordfighting duties.
