Sunday Daud wrote:
Sunday shrugs again before he starts walking. "Why don't you go play with your new friends?"

Something inside Ragnhildr snaps. Glowing runes and markings appear on her skin, lines tracing complex patterns and making it appear as if she was wearing war-paint. Her eyes and hair glow blue-white, matching the light coming from her markings.

"Oh woe is you," she calls out mockingly as the air around her whips about in a chill breeze, leaving a faint sheen of frost on the cobbles, "woe to the man who might have lost his friend."

Her eyes narrow as she stalks forward.

"Coward," she growls, "is the pain of leaving so great? Is the grief too much? I have seen my clan besieged in our own keep. I have seen my family killed by dark magics that twisted them, body and mind. I have seen them ripped apart by the witch's great white wolves. I have seen them rise up and turn on their own sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, and husbands and wives. We are small, but we endure. We live. We survive!" She grabs the front of Sunday's tunic, pulling his face to where it is just inches from hers. "I don't care what pains you have endured, what terrors you have faced, or what you have done. You have saved my life, but I will not be beholden to a coward. Live, prove me wrong and live to spite those that have wronged you."

Ragnhildr pushes Sunday away, the glow from her eyes and hair fading, eyes that were silver before, now turned blue. The wind dies down, and the chill disappears, taking the frost with it.

"It shouldn't take long for them to catch up," she says in a softer voice, "when they do, we'll move on as a single group that can watch each others' backs."

Sunday snarls underneath his mask as he's pushed. "So you've lost plenty of people you loved. You've grown used to it. I just have Kiley."

"You owe me nothing. Jessica is the one who saved you." he continues, apathetic to her magical display of power.

"They only thing I accomplish by living is saving Kiley. Or avenging her." he says as he starts to walk again.

Yavenee looks up calling to Elisai. "Elisai, I have a question."

Waiting for the furysinger to come closet she stands speaking in a low tone. "Your magics are like Grace's but different, more primal. I have heard of magic that can read a person from a simple drop of thier blood, do you know of any such spells? It occurs to me that there is much available to read should we be able to do so, that may answer the questions being evaded." she says indicating the blood pool.

Ragnhildr grabs Sunday again, this time latching onto his arm and holding it in a grip of iron.

"No! I am not going to let you go off and kill yourself in some glorified form of suicide! I'm sure Kiley wouldn't want you to either," she tells him as she digs her feet in.

Jessica glared at Sunday all of a sudden, she'd been feeling sick all morning, she'd lost almost everyone she cared for, may have even lost the man she loved and the sister she never had, and Sunday continued to whine and cry and through a fit. She walked up to him and sent a stinging slap across his face, "YOU don't f%#&ing understand Sunday Daud so shut up! We've all lost people, I've lost almost everyone in a day and a half and you DARE act like this over only one?! I want my sister back too you great big oaf and I don't want her harmed any more than you do. But if you go blundering in there with no plan at all then she won't have a chance of survival and it will be YOUR fault she died and if you dare finish that kick on her after we went to the effort to save her I will strike you down myself." There were tears in her eyes despite her fury as well as a deadly earnestness. "It's time to grow up and be a man Sunday Daud, not a whiny brat who isn't getting his way. So, what's it to be, do this the right way and maybe save her, or do it the wrong way and be sure that Kiley dies and is gone forever?"

There was pause.

Then an audible snarl. "Do NOT tell me how to act over the only person I care about. Kiley may be only one person but she's the only person I care about! Just because you can act calm after having people you love be tortured and killed doesn't make you better than me!"

He tries jerking his arm free. "Plan?! IF EVERYONE WOULD STOP B*@!*ING ABOUT NEEDING A PLAN AND ACTUALLY MAKE ONE I MIGHT LISTEN! But none of you have done anything. You've had a whole night. A WHOLE NIGHT. And you haven't come up with one so you aren't allowed to say anything to me about needing one!"

Jessica looked hurt as she said, "Calm? Who said I was calm, I'm nearly dead inside. As for planning, no one had time to plan last night because we all needed rest you fool! If we went after her yesterday we'd all be dead and Kiley wouldn't have been saved. We had nothing left after the fight yesterday. If you are going to go charging in there to commit suicide by stupidity then do so but I warn you, if you fail to save Kiley alone then you'd better be dead when I get there because I will kill you if you aren't. I'm done talking to you, go and die or stay with the group and have a chance I don't care anymore Sunday." She grabbed Ragnhildr's arm and pulled her away from the raging lunatic towards the rest as she said, "Let the fool die, he's already long since dead inside and nothing will help him." Her voice was calm and dead sounding as she said, "and I don't think I'm far behind him." She reached the others and left Sunday to decide his own fate as they prepared to go into the tower.

"They knew," he snarled as his arm was freed. Turning around he started to walk to ward the clocktower. "They knew since the sawmill and didn't come up with anything. They didn't come up with anything at the temple. AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T come up with anything on our way over."

Stopping he chuckles for a moment. "Oh, you don't have to worry about that. If Kiley's gone I wont be far behind."

His voice was strained, but he stood still even longer as he mulled the words over. "Actually, no, I guess not. She'll be with her family. You? You can go join the rest of the DuMornes. Me? I'll go... back to the Dauds..."

Chuckling again he then continue on.

Elisai Aurear wrote:
GM, sorry to be a pain in the butt, but imo I probably need to sort out an effective list of spells from pretty much every non psychic spell list out there, that I can use Fated Call on, ie spells that determine the future. Divination itself as a definition states that it is "learning the future or the unknown through supernatural means" but the class ability is vaguely written. The only reason I'm asking now is that I could probably try and cast Scrying (if its legal under Fated Call), and stop Sunday borderline suiciding. Unless, of course, Sunday would argue OOC that Scrying would have no impact on his actions in which case its a wasted ability.

Sorry, missed this. >_<

I guess it would depend on how convincing the scrying is... but it would take a lot to convince him to wait another hour for it to go off, especially now.

If Sunday cannot even wait a full round action for the spell to be cast then its easy to see why party members are getting frustrated when they are trying to bend over backwards to accommodate him. Its not like we can accurately make a plan when Sundays being enormously resistant to anything that isn't "Run in all guns blazing, no prep". Anything short of this results in the conversation above.

Um, Scrying takes an hour, not a round. And do you mean Far Seer? Can't find Fated Call anywhere.

And if you can convince him then he'll probably go along with it. He's all for someone coming up with a plan, except no one has. Everyone keeps saying we need a plan. And keeps saying that. And keeps. And no one has come up with anything.

Sunday isn't even for going in gunsblazin at this point, he just at least wants to get to the tower.

@El, wouldn't that be Maximum then, not minimum?

Sunday is fine waiting for a plan as long as making a plan is what's being waited for. No ones tried to make one.

@Jess, I thought we were still a ways away. Went and reread it. Not sure.

All - for clarification purposes, you are nearly at the tower though not quite at the doorsteps yet. The tower is imposingly tall and by far the tallest building around you and it doesn't take much of a leap to infer this is your destination. You are a few hundred feet from the tower yet, but you can close that gap rather quickly if that is your desire.

Elisai - Providing an extensive list of spells sounds awfully time consuming. I'd rather you just ask when the situation arises (PM if need be). If that's not ok, we can chat about it offline.

As for the scrying time, I agree with Sunday on the wording. The inclusion of the word minimum means it can't go faster than, not that it can't be slower than which would be maximum. I read it to say that you can never cast a spell faster than one full round, meaning you can't get the spell off as a standard action even if that is what the spell normally takes. Since it doesn't state that "spell durations are all one full round" or "maximum spell duration is one full round" this seems to me that the maximum duration doesn't change. Since scrying is an hour, it will still take you an hour to cast it.

The shadow of the Irespan casts the entire surrounding area in dark shadow. Delendir, Ghina and Daud move up to the door of the tower after spotting no visible trouble around it. Determining that the door is clean to the best of his knowledge, Delendir cautiously pushes one of the doors open and peers inside.

The air inside the clock tower is dusty and dry. Swaths of rubble and mounds of plaster lie in heaps on the stone floor, particularly in the southwest corner. A single wagon sits to the northeast, and six partially collapsed offices line the northern and eastern walls, their doors hanging askew and their ceilings caved in. A wooden staircase winds up into the cavernous space above. High overhead, four immense bronze bells hang from sturdy crossbeams.

When no arrows fall from the sky, Delendir begins to systematically opens the doors to each room one by one in the hopes of finding their friend. One by one he finds each is void of anything of interest. The rooms are covered in dust and cobwebs and have apparent years of disuse. Not finding anything of importance he rejoins the group at the stairs.

The inner wall of this vast space is traversed by a winding wooden stairway supported by an intricate network of wooden beams but lacking, at many stretches, a handrail or other enclosure. I n certain places, two or even three stairs at a time are partially missing or gone altogether.

Knowledge Engineering DC18:
This stairwell looks treacherous-and it most certainly is. The rotting wood can support no more than one creature in any pair of adjacent squares . If the wood is overloaded, it surely will give way.

Once Delendir returns emptyhanded Sunday looks at the rickety stairs, carefully lowering to all fours he'll let his hands gently rest on a plank to see if it doesn't snap under his weight or spring a trap before slowly crawling up them.

The planks don't snap under him, but they creak and groan in protest as he puts his weight on them.

Seeing that he doesn't fall through, but annoyed with the stressed sounds nonetheless, Sunday heads up the stairs.

Floor: 1d6 ⇒ 2

It happened on the second floor of the steps.

While the party had been slowly making their way up the steps and trying their best to avoid the noisy or especially deteriorated steps, Ragnhildr catches a particularly unlucky portion of the stairs and all hope at a quiet entrance is lost. When she places her boot down the boards do more than protest loudly at her weight, they scream in fury as they snap in half. As the board breaks beneath her the support beneath the accompanies steps gives way as well and in cascading fashion the nearby stairs and support tear away under the party ten feet in each direction. Both Sunday and Delendir watch in horror as the support beneath them disintegrates into splinters. Below them the hard stone flooring with menacing splintered wood awaits them.

Ragnhildr scrambles for a hold as the stairs give way. Her fingers find one and she manages to hang on to the creaking stairs as her heart thunders in her chest.

"Shelyn's Tits that was close," she mutters to herself as she pulls herself up and looks at the others, her face paler than normal.

The curse caught her attention and broke through Jessica's malaise more then anything but combat and Sunday had. Even the stairs giving way drew little more than a startled gasp. Jess stared at Elisai and simply said in a voice with slightly more inflection than she'd shown most of the day, "That's one of her best features in many eyes, I wish mine were that big." She looked down at where Sunday and Delendir landed and said, "I should go help them." She began to look for a way down to check on the two but found herself stuck between Elesai and everyone else on rickety stairs.

"We're... fine..." Sunday lets after the wind is back in his chest.

That's a pretty bad idea since it's probably only gonna happen again and you two are essentially down a hole in the middle of the stairs. Leaping a 20ft gap (which isn't even a straight line jump on a spiral staircase) is likely to make the other side collapse upon landing

"Does anyone know of any flight or levitation magic?" Yavenee asks loudly enough for those on the other side of the gap to hear.

Brushing the debris off of himself he makes his way back to the stairs, careful this time to stay a bit aways from the others so no one takes him down a second time.
