With a perfectly aimed shot, Penthelisa catches laszo between the collar of his longcoat and the arrow pierces the alchemist's throat, blooding spraying from the wound and covering those in close quarters with him. Even with the stench of the sewer, you can tell the Leper's blood smells foul, wracked by many failed experiments he had tried on himself.

You learn that whip is a drug of Laszo’s own design, and that he resents that the Aspis Consortium has already begun to mass produce the drug from his imperfect formula. He names several specific individuals within Diobel who he blames for allowing whip to spread before he could perfect it.

There are also several drug addled wretches in the sewer system, looking at you with bleary eyes and soft groans. As Kenosuke approaches them, they reach out weakly for the vials upon the Paladin's belt and stare at him with bloodshot eyes. Though they do not resist when assisted.

Another lull?

Liberty's Edge

Consortium Compact

Gathering your spoils and carrying the poor wretches from the dank sewer, you head back to the Sixwing Drake to recuperate and await for further development. The Captain takes the drug addled wretches into the hold and sets them an area away from the rest of the crew, promising to seek help once they are back in port. For the rest of you, you are given free reign of the ship until you are needed.

Around noon on Fireday, Captain Zendrani calls a meeting on the deck of the Sixwing Drake. “An urchin boy delivered this note just a few minutes ago. I tried to keep him here so we could talk to him, but he slipped away without a word and ran off into the city. I haven’t looked at the note—but it seems to be from Delroya.” The captain hands over the note.

Note:
Pathfinders,

Your tactics were certainly unusual, but everything turned out as expected. The shipment is delayed, and the Aspis Consortium is occupied with getting everything back in order. Soon, though, the consortium will get its act together and come to the warehouse to proceed with the operation. There is no time to lose. The warehouse is at the southern edge of the Bristles, where Gull Street meets the water. I will meet you there.

Magali Delroya

With no time to waste you make your way to the Warehouse.

Liberty's Edge

Consortium Compact

A large warehouse looms into view at the end of Gull Street. Its main level sits at the edge of the street above a ten-foot drop to the harbor’s waters below. A door in the western wall of the warehouse opens, and a woman clad in simple leather armor steps out. Her features display a blend of Taldan and Mwangi heritages, and her crisp accent is difficult to place. “I am Magali Delroya. You must come quickly, Pathfinders. We do not wish to be seen.” Delroya moves briskly, waving off protests or interruptions, and speaks with the rhythm of her steps.

“Questions later. Much is at stake. First you must listen.” Her outward display of authority does not entirely mask her fear. The small room through the warehouse’s western door features a round table and several chairs. “This room is for the guards. They are all too busy dealing with our disruptions, so no one is here for now. That door leads to the docks below,” she says, indicating a door in the southern wall. “Come this way. I will show you the warehouse.” She opens a door in the northern wall, revealing a cavernous storage room.

Haphazard stacks of barrels and crates almost reach the ceiling twenty feet above. Two large skylights in the ceiling provide ample light during the day, and a dozen unlit lanterns are spaced around the room. To the east, a wide opening in the southern wall looks out over the loading bay ten feet below. A freight elevator platform rigged to a complex set of pulleys and ropes and a staircase both lead down to the loading bay.

“As you can see, the Aspis Consortium maintains a sizable operation out of this warehouse, which they rent from the Kortos Consortium’s Locosta family in exchange for alchemical goods. After tonight, I hope that the relationship between Aspis and Kortos will be irreparably damaged.” The ex-Aspis agent takes a moment to ponder her next statement. “We may have delayed the shipment, but my sources tell me that both the Kortos and Aspis consortia are likely to investigate the warehouse later tonight. I had hoped for more time, but I will not able to move the goods until after midnight. I need your help in holding off the agents until everything is in order. They are not likely to work together, so you should prepare for multiple groups of agents. While I have no qualms about fighting the Aspis agents, if possible we should avoid further antagonizing the Kortos Consortium. Their agents may be willing to look the other way.”

“Because the agents are on high alert, you should stay at the warehouse until they arrive. We wouldn’t want anyone spotted or attacked out in the city before we’re ready. That gives you several hours to prepare. Most of the items in the warehouse are simple trade goods designed to make this outfit look legitimate. You may want to take some time to look around, though—you never know what the Aspis Consortium might have stowed away here.”

“I can stay here briefly, if you have questions or need assistance.”

Yes, it is the next day so time for a rest, I was waiting for everyone to chime in but will press on

Delroya's eyes widen at the suggestion to destroy the place, and she fights to keep the disgust from her voice at such an act. "“The warehouse and many of the goods inside it belong to the Kortos Consortium, not the Aspis Consortium. We do not want to make them our enemies, if possible. As for the drugs, they are mixed in with a large number of goods that belong to the Kortos Consortium. It would take days to sort through all these crates— something I intend to do later, once they’re moved to a secure location. But there’s no time now. As for destroying the shipment, that’s out of the question. The drug is far too unpredictable. There’s no telling what effect it might have if we burn it or dump it in the harbor. No, we must deal with it later, in a way that puts no one in harm’s way.”

Turning to Penthelisa, Delroya shakes her head. "I do not know who will investigate first, but both groups are likely too. I would rather you convince the Kortos that why you do there is in their benefit, but I do have a last resort." Delroya reaches in a poich and brings forth a sealed writ. "Should you need it, this will cement your claims here. However, I would prefer if you heaitate in using it and rely on your own silver tongues."

Meanwhile, Kenosuke moves around, looking for things that might be of use in the warehouse. There is far too much to search for such a small amount of time given, but they are able to find some things:

Useful items:

A 50-pound human-sized cage with lock and key
An oil of Arcane Lock
A stoppered glass jar filled with spiders. If the PCs remove the stopper or break the jar (hardness 1, hp 1) the spiders emerge as a spider swarm and attack any nearby creatures

The Paladin also notices that the Mechanism for the loading platform is locked, and the platform cannot be raised or lowered. A PC can unlock it with a successful DC 20 Disable Device check.

At the same time two ropes drop from the skylight and two more figures absail down, landing int he middle of the warehouse and staring at Kenosuke, Pioni and Remy as they wait in the middle of the warehouse.

One is a slender woman in an elegant suit of black and red, no obvious weapons on her belt yet she looks unfazed. The other is a taller Elf in green and carrying a staff, a piece of mistletoe in their silver hair.

"So, we have Trespassers in our warehouse? This is the private property of the Kortos Consortium and you are hereby ordered to leave before we force you out." The words are harsh and laced with intent, yet neither of them reach for weapons. You hear the two muttering curses try and knock down the boxes.

Knowledge Local, dc 10:
The badges on their outfits clearly denote them as members of the Kortos consortium

Penthesilea leans her bow against a nearby crate and gives a soft round of applause. I do love a good entrance, and the ropes are a great touch.
The only thing I love more is a deal where everyone walks away happy. So here's where we're at: You and your bosses have been getting into bed with the Aspis - not the best move. Everyone calls them Snakes for a reason, and I'm sure if you haven't been hearing worse and worse things about them since beginning your little partnership, it's only a matter of time.

We're here because the Snakes have been bringing a particularly repugnant new drug to your city. They've stashed it throughout your warehouse, in fact. Now we just want to get this stuff off the streets, and you don't want to be publicly responsible for poisoning your citizenry, hell you probably don't want them poisoned at all! Bad for business, right?

So here's the deal. You go take the night off, we take care of the Snakes' poison, none of your stuff gets mishandled, and you didn't even really break any deals.

Well?

Nice! With bonuses for stuff, you only exceeded the DC by double... ;p

The Kortos agents narrow their eyes as Penthelisa steps away from the guard room door and towards them, clearly wondering where the remainder of their group was. To that end you can hear the sound of crates creaking and scraping as they are manhandled.

1d20 ⇒ 20

There is an ominous crashing sound as the crates topple to the deck and the agent speaking with you winces as The Minstrel completes her pitch. Thinking over the proposal for a moment, the agent frowns slightly but then nods.

"You are correct in that we do not want a hand in such narcotics, it was due to word our superiors had received that led us to be here today." she replies smoothly as two more Kortos agents come up the stairs, these two clearly ready to evict somebody. "As long as you deal with the Aspis carefully and put everything back where you found it then I am sure we can work together." she holds her hand out for Penthelisa to shake, before clicking her fingers and leading the agents out of thw warehouse from the guard room.

Ok, so you have peacefully negotiated past the Kortos. One of the crate piles by the docks door has broken so will now be difficult terrain around it rather than blocking. Any more prep?

Since the negotiation went well and he is unsure where the Aspis agents will come in from, Nuethro slips out of hiding and rejoins the group.
