Lia Vantas |
Yay! :D
Lia growls as she watches Pendrix knife the downed goblin before turning to the others. "Do what you will with the other one." She says before sheathing her sword and moving over to help the man.
"Are you alright, sir?" She holds a hand out to him.
Sesi |
Coup de Grace!
CDG Goblin: 2d10 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 + 4 = 13
CDG Mount: 2d10 + 6 ⇒ (6, 10) + 6 = 22
If you don't multiply your Favored enemy bonus on a crit, then subtract 2 from the one for the goblin. If there are anymore about, then she'll do the same before they have a chance to cause trouble.
Sesi turns and quickly moves to send the last of the goblins off before they can cause trouble. She cleans her sword off and goes to see about Pendrix and the nobleman who'd been accosted.
"I name you Pendrix the Bloody," she says with a laugh as she begins to triage his wounds. After looking to make sure that none are life threatening, she has him sit by the nobleman while she sees to him.
"Lia, Karst, can you help me see to these two," she asks, her voice much more pleasant as she begins to see to the two injured men.
If I can, I'll take 10 for 16 to treat everyone's wounds, if not, here's the rolls.
Heal Pendrix: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Heal Mystery Man #1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Seeing that Lia is also hurt, Sesi also treats her wounds.
Heal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
"There, hopefully that will hold you all together until we get you to a real healer," she says with a laugh, "I am named Sesi, by the way, may we have your name," she asks the noble.
Karst IronBrow |
As everyone moves around helping each other, Karst moves from goblin to goblin, making sure that they are good and dead. Once he has done so (and after Sesi has bound all the wounds she can) he presses two fingers to the birthmark on his forehead, says a brief prayer in Dwarvish requesting Torag's intercession, and channels energy to heal the wounded.
Healing: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Pendrix Ragnack |
Pendrix chuckled at his new moniker.
"I'll keep that in mind, Sesi Goblinsbane."
He looked over at Karst, dispatching the remaining goblins.
"Or should that be Karst Goblinsbane..."
He moved over near where Lia and the hurt man were talking. He too, offered the man a hand up.
Karst IronBrow |
Karst walks over, wiping gore off his hammer with a rag that was once a goblin tunic.
"IronBrow does well enough. Karst IronBrow."
He nods towards Lia "A soporific makes you sleep. These gits were dazzled, or stunned. Try one of those on for size."
He winks at Lia with brotherly playfulness and widens his hands expansively to illustrate his point as he talks.
Lia of the dazzling colors! There's a name fit for a storybook or a bard's song on a cold night.
He chuckles as he walks over to the wounded man, investigating his wounds.
Here, you've come over well enough, you lucky devil. Tch... Shirts a mess. Let me get that."
Multiple castings of Mending
Karst waves his hands over the shredded sleeves, and they knit back together seamlessly before your eyes.
There you go. Good as new.
Pendrix Ragnack |
Pendrix through his arms up in the arm, spreading them wide.
"Lia the Dazzling! Lia the Brilliant! Karst IronBrow! And.....Sesi."
He looked over at Sesi.
"Well, it isn't glamorous, but if it's what you want..."
GM Runescarred Dragon |
The man takes Lia's offered hand, and gets up. He takes a moment to get to his bearings - it looks like he's not quite clear on what's going on around him, for a second. Karsts healing patches him up, and he recovers quickly after that.
He's quite a dashing man in his late twenties, brownhaired and dressed in a bright blue coat with golden embroidery, worn over a white shirt.
He shakes his head and blinks rapidly, seemingly to clear away the last bit of confusion.
"Right. You, my most daring rescuers, are Pendrix the Bloody, Karst Ironbrow, 'Just' Sesi, and last, but certainly not least, the scintillating Lia." There's definitely a gleam in his eyes there. He makes quite the courteous bow towards you all. "I myself have the pleasure of being Aldern Foxglove, at your service. It of course goes without saying that you have my eternal gratitude for saving my life."
Sesi |
Sesi looks away, suddenly feeling a little self-conscious and sporting a slight blush herself. She'd just done what was right. There was no need to thank her.
"I don't know why you're thanking me, the others did all the work," she says, "I think Lia's right, though, and we should let them know the gate's busted."
GM Runescarred Dragon |
"Nevertheless, my lady, your valor was commendable - few people risk their lives for a stranger." He nods as you float the idea of getting back. "Please, you must come see me before I leave town - I'll be at the Rusty Dragon for the next few days, and would love to properly thank you for your deeds. And perhaps you would like to join me for a boar hunt? I hear that Tickwood makes good hunting grounds, and it's the right time of year."
He pauses. "Besides, I'm sure you make marvellous company." Clearly aimed at Lia, wink and all.
Karst IronBrow |
When Lia looks away from Foxglove, she turns to find Karst regarding her, a decidedly amused smile on his face. He shakes his head and chuckles as he walks by, setting his hammer on his shoulder.
What say you, friends? Drinks?
He raises a gaunleted fist triumphantly.
Drinks!
Pendrix Ragnack |
Pendrix grinned at Karst.
"I think we've earned our drinks for the day. I would be honored to have a drink with you."
He started walking toward the tavern.
"Ladies? Mr. Foxglove? Of course, you are all welcome to join us."
Sesi |
"A boar hunt? I'm afraid I've never hunted boar," Sesi admits to Aldern, "but I'm willing to go. I haven't been on a hunt since before leaving Kalsgard."
At the mention of drinks, Sesi brightens up a bit. She gathers up Lia, Karst, and Pendrix with her arms and begins guiding them to the Cathedral.
"Drinks? Why didn't you say so? Let's let the guard know about the gate then go find somewhere to celebrate! Where's a good tavern?!"
Just so you guys know, she's physically pushing you to the Cathedral to report the broken gate and then she'll push you wherever there's a good tavern. :)
DM Gee-Em |
"Yes, I do agree that a stiff drink would be in order after today's events, both the bad and the good." Foxglove nods, daring one last glance at the goblins' corpses. "If you'd allow me, I'll accompany you all to the Rusty Dragon, where I shall treat you to a round, on me."
Turning his full attention to Lia, he offers his arm to her. "Shall we away, my lady?" He flashed a wide, white smile, clearly an attempt to dazzle.
As you all return towards the temple, you see various guardsmen escorting citizens indoors and cleaning up slain goblins, dragging the vermins' bodies out of town. Back where the attack began, a half-dozen guards have rounded up several goblins that still lived yet lost the will to fight. A tall, swarthy man wearing chainmail was overseeing the militia's movements and keeping a stern eye on their prisoners.
Father Zantus was making rounds among the wounded, and when he sees you return, he smiles wanly, relief flooding his expression.
Karst IronBrow |
Karst strides up to the cleric, looking around the scene as he does so.
"Father Zantus? I'm Karst Ironbrow, acolyte of Torag, lately of Janderhoff. I came to see your new cathedral, but we all got more than we bargained for today." He casts an eye about at the fallout from the attack. "Is there anything we can do to help?"
DM Gee-Em |
"Ah, yes. Well met Sir Ironbrow, and well said. Frankly, the damage has been quite minimal, thank the gods. The goblins we have not captured or killed have fled shrieking, and my acolytes and I have healed any serious injury that was inflicted today. Things might have been much worse were it not for you and your companions."
Rising from the ground, aiding his patient in getting on her feet, Zantus bowed his head to the dwarven cleric. "I am humbled by your courage, but there is little left to do. However," he points towards the Rusty Dragon, "Mayor Deverin would like to thank you herself for your contributions. She is at the Rusty Dragon, trying to manage what remains of the chaos. She witnessed you and your friends rush to aid in Sandpoint's defense and is grateful, as are we all."
Pendrix Ragnack |
Pendrix looks worried.
"I'm truly grateful that we were able to help...and I am happy it went as well as it did. But goblins are so small, I can't help but wonder if maybe a few are still in town...
DM Gee-Em |
At Pendrix's worry, the swarthy guardsman turns to regard you all.
"A valid concern, sirrah. It worries me also that so many seemed to have crept into Sandpoint without sooner notice."
He approaches and offers an armored hand. "Sheriff Hemlock, at your service. I have my men searching the town, trying to find both remnants of the attack and for traces of their infiltration. You also have my thanks for aiding our defense."
Pendrix Ragnack |
Pendrix smiled.
A pleasure to meet you, formally. I knew your father. He and I met several years ago. I appreciate all you do for our fair city."
He tried not to grin like an idiot.
Sesi |
"More than happy to help," Sesi says as she takes the sheriff's hand, "It looks like the northern gate was busted down during the raid, but we took care of the little runts that were guarding it. Do you need any help? We were about to head to the Rusty Dragon, but slaking our thirst and boasting of our deeds can wait a little while yet."
Lia Vantas |
A befuddled Lia silently takes Aldern's offered hand as the party goes to the cathedral.
It's only when Father Zantus and the Sheriff step forward to thank them that she finds her voice. "Er--yeah, yeah--like they said, it was no problem. Is there anything else we need to do?"
DM Gee-Em |
"No," Hemlock shook his head, "I think we have things wrapped up here for now. Seeing your skill, however, I might have need of your services again. If the gate was opened, then we might have an enemy amongst us who allowed the goblins in." He and Zantus exchanged worried glances for a moment before returning their gazes to you. "This and more will be discussed at length with the Mayor. Madame Deverin awaits you in the Dragon, as do many who'd drink to your honor."
The Sheriff nods at Pendrix, smiling. "Indeed, my father spoke highly of you before his passing. It is good to officially meet you."
"Wonderful, we are all now acquainted." Foxglove nodded to the priest and the sheriff. "Now, I believe drink and song and good company await us inside. Shall we?"
DM Gee-Em |
"Relax, my little Lia, deep breaths. It'll take more than a few miniature arsonists to take me from you." A man matching Lia's description - albeit his blue tunic bore a few scorch-marks and blood stains - walked over to the half-elf and held out his arms for a reassuring hug. "I am just glad you are alright. Took right after your mother just then, charging right into the fight to protect her town." He smiled warmly, pride bringing a gleam to his eyes.
Lia Vantas |
Lia's heart skips a beat when she sees her father emerge from the cathedral. She practically throws herself into his arms and hugs him tightly. "Dad! Oh, thank heavens you're okay!"
Remembering where she was, she turns to her companions and clears her throat.
DM Gee-Em |
"Of course I'll come, but on the way you must introduce your new friends. I think I've seen some of you around Sandpoint before, but your names escape me. I am Jarrod Vantas."
"Well, I am Lord Aldern Foxglove, recently returned noble seeking to reclaim some of my family's lost prestige in town." As the noble extends his hand, Jarrod gave Foxglove a deadpan stare till the extended hand retreated, leaving Aldern to chuckle nervously.
DM Gee-Em |
As you all enter the Rusty Dragon, a chorus of cheers greets you as mugs are raised high. Ameiko, the Tian owner of the tavern, waves you all over to the bar, a welcoming smile on her face.
"Well met, Heroes of Sandpoint! I do believe there is a room full of folks willing to by each of you more rounds than you could stomach." As the raucous laughter at her jab died down, she said in a lower tone, "Mayor Deverin is over there, waiting for you all with a few of her people."
She directs you towards one of the two large, circular tables flanking the main doors. If anyone cares, its the one to the doors' right if your entering. "She said to meet her once you've gotten a drink and relaxed a little. So, what can I get our new stars?"
