@Paige: Apparently, this AP is rather infamous for underestimating players. XD I'm using the books as more of a loose guideline, in the sense of "There are a lot of enemies here, a few here, and a boss over this way...", and I'll be cheerfully manipulating things now that I've got my new set of templates. XD As a bonus, this means that prior knowledge of the AP is of limited help...

Male Dwarf Defender 12 [ HP: 209/209 THP: 0/0 | AC: 24, T: 12, FF: 24 | CMD: 31 | F: +17, R: +14, W: +18 (+5 vs. spells and SLAs, +3 vs. poison) | Init: +8, Per: +26 | 1: 7/7, 2: 7/7, 3: 5/5, 4: 4/4 | DDP: 0/36, GB: 12/12, MP: 5/5, P: 10/10, SM: 9/9, SR: 12/12 ]

Meh, I'm sure Paige is perfectly capable of not metagaming. :)

Female Human Paladin/Bard 2 | HP: 18/24 | AC: 16/12/14 | Fort +10, Ref +10, Will +8 | BAB +2, CMB +5, CMD 17 | Init: +7 | Perception: +5

Yeah, I'm doing my damndest not to metagame this s@@# out; no fun in playing know-it-all and finding everything just to make myself feel clever. Granted, I won't really be taken by any plot twists, but I have a grip on the character and am eager to play the game through her eyes rather than my memory.

Mythic tiers are definitely worth a lot more than the designers expected, and competent players with decent builds only make it worse (Dex Paladin in full plate is something I stole from my group's Paladin), so the only answer is evil. I'm eager to see what you do to encounters because it'll all probably be a lot different, and you won't be preparing endgame material like The Red Rover, a bull rush/AOO-oriented Minotaur Barbarian who is so deadly I don't actually know how my party is going to be able to face him. So much exploitable fun in Mythic rules.

Julian Religion: Desna | HP: 96/103 | AC: 27 / T: 23 / FF: 14 / Resist: Fire 5 Defiant Armor - vs Evil Outsiders +2 AC DR 2/- | F: +8, R: +14, W: +8 | BAB +6 CMB: +7 CMD: +30 | Ini: +15 Perception: +15

I turned the first module into a complete underground adventure to spice it up some. Making the Mongrelfolk be in a struggle against demons in the darklands.

Included multiple lost cities, enslaved cities/denizens and other hooks to make a long underground campaign.

My knowledge mostly ends at Neatholm which I turned into a bustling town like Zion in the Matrix. The demons don't know where it is and the mongrelfolk are dedicated in eradicating them.

Fun fun~

I normally read all my ap books as I like the story and such. Kingmaker is still one of my all time favs as I LOVE kingdom building. :D

But I don't usually retains the details as I read all my books regularly lol. So yeah, ._. knowledge is fuzzy. Besides being in 8 games, 3 of which I run makes it hard to be metagamey for me lol.

I'm planning all my extra content for the downtime of the third book--they're on the last leg of the second right now. The party is all working out businesses and ventures they want to start, and I'm going to make side adventures around them. The Rogue is opening up a bank, and that alone is inspiring so many wonderful ideas. Horgus offering to store his funds in her bank if she's willing to retrieve some treasure in an adaptation of the Tomb of the Iron Medusa module. And then at some point they'll come back from proper plot stuff only to find out her bank got Point Breaked and they have to go retrieve all the stolen valuables and gold.

very nice! that sounds like loads of fun! >:3

I was inspired by throne of night adventure and expanded the mongrelmen stuff using the Mongrelfolk out of the Tome of Horror. Which allows you to roll random body parts. I actually rolled up two Minotaur/Troglodyte mongrelfolk and suffice to say they are BA npc. bDepending on the parts they get different stat bonus/skill/abilities.

Minotaur is a very perceptive and tough (con/str ability increase) where the Troglodyte allows them greater stealth and chameleon abilities. Just pure fun for a DM. :)

Julian

Man its gonna be really fun when I can start applying alchemical items to weapon attacks. But Magus/Alch is going to get action dependent really quick... Thats the hardest part I foresee. I am interested if a Paladi/Alch would work lol. Holy bomber on a whole new level!

Indeed, action economy is very important when it comes to gestalt builds... though I still encourage not trying to maximize any one strategy to the point you're useless without it. XD As fair warning, I can and will occasionally toss in enemies meant specifically to thwart how you normally do things.

Julian Religion: Desna | HP: 96/103 | AC: 27 / T: 23 / FF: 14 / Resist: Fire 5 Defiant Armor - vs Evil Outsiders +2 AC DR 2/- | F: +8, R: +14, W: +8 | BAB +6 CMB: +7 CMD: +30 | Ini: +15 Perception: +15

Oh I look forward to it!

I like building characters I find interesting, even if they are difficult. Julian's flaw has been an interesting one for me to roleplay and hopefully I am doing well hehe. ^.^;

However with Magus/Alch I am somewhat of a glass cannon, not having as many HP as everyone else xD. But I enjoy being a good utility character anyhow~

Thanks again Rednal, I got the Gestalt thing to work and it is OMGAMAZING~ to have. I have been building Julian and Chi (Rat Gun/Alch from different game) up to lvl six just to see how they look and its so much fun!

I honestly can't wait for lvl 3 with Julian. He's gonna be even more fun soon! I need to figure out if I am going for more arms next discovery. Tentacle can... just stay away...

Mm-hmm. There's a reason I was so happy when I first saw it was available. XD Of course, it also means it's easy to build villains into gestalts (as recommended), and then add all kinds of fun templates (of which I have many - sadly, the Eldritch Template isn't in the Hero Lab files, and Korina would've loved that).

Julian Religion: Desna | HP: 96/103 | AC: 27 / T: 23 / FF: 14 / Resist: Fire 5 Defiant Armor - vs Evil Outsiders +2 AC DR 2/- | F: +8, R: +14, W: +8 | BAB +6 CMB: +7 CMD: +30 | Ini: +15 Perception: +15

hehe true.

For my poor WotR players I have an enemy cleric who is abducting slaves and mongrelfolk children so she can complete a demonic ritual to become a half-fiend save for the twist out of Demons revisted she is going to choose a Demonic form akin to a Balor, Maraleth or something really viscious. IF she succeeds its gonna be a very one sided fight, i don't pull punches with the BBEG but neither do they lol!.

The only downside not really a problem of the gestalt add-on thing is a Lvl 3 julian is considered a lvl 9 character lol!

It does treat characters a bit odd when it comes to that - NPCs are told to have much more wealth, for example - but I think it's under control. ^^ At least, most powers don't seem to be affected in ways they shouldn't be.

Julian Religion: Desna | HP: 96/103 | AC: 27 / T: 23 / FF: 14 / Resist: Fire 5 Defiant Armor - vs Evil Outsiders +2 AC DR 2/- | F: +8, R: +14, W: +8 | BAB +6 CMB: +7 CMD: +30 | Ini: +15 Perception: +15

yeah, just the character wealth thing was out of whack. That was why I was doing tests to make sure. :/

Hero lab has saved me from carrying books or having to dig through pdf's...

Call me lazy but :P I fly so much it sucks to try and find the time between flights or after working an 18 hour day.

But I have to give Shadowchemosh credit,as that had to have been a huge pain int he ass to figure all that out!

Julian Religion: Desna | HP: 96/103 | AC: 27 / T: 23 / FF: 14 / Resist: Fire 5 Defiant Armor - vs Evil Outsiders +2 AC DR 2/- | F: +8, R: +14, W: +8 | BAB +6 CMB: +7 CMD: +30 | Ini: +15 Perception: +15

so best armor in the game for Julian would be Mithri Celestial Armor. +3 Chainmail with +10 dex bonus 5% asf and 0 acp xD.

A magus can dream~ :3

I am enjoying this game a lot, looking forward to seeing how everyone's builds evolve. Tarov's has definitely struck me as totally awesome support type!

The Warder is somthing I need to look into as I hadn't heard of it before~

Happy thanksgiving btw! Are we continuing after the weekend? lol

I'm pretty much in love with both the Warder and the Aegis. Dreamscarred Press pretty much knocked it out of the part with those two, for me.

Gotcha, my one class I love is Dragonrider (my revamped version) as I am a huge Pern/Dragonlance fan. :)

However out of all the pathfinder classes Summoner has been the hardest to get my head around. Strange I know but I havent played a summoner yet. Or a ninja/samurai as a player.

I will have to check out the Aegis as that sounds cool!

The easiest way to think of it is probably "An animal companion, except way better" for normal Summoners, and "Portable Army" for Master Summoners.

Female Human Paladin/Bard 2 | HP: 18/24 | AC: 16/12/14 | Fort +10, Ref +10, Will +8 | BAB +2, CMB +5, CMD 17 | Init: +7 | Perception: +5

Or "Shaman King except you're an a+&&+$+ for building this" if you're a Synthesist.

Lol Paige.

So far ever summoner I run into is a friggen monster with an eidolin. And synthesist made me go O.O; as they are way strong (sometimes if built right) lol.

I think the toughest character i ever made was a Serpentfolk magus bladebound/kensau and he had around 43 a.c. at lvl 11 5th level magus and 6 lvls of serpentfolk.

just a monster.

Julian Religion: Desna | HP: 96/103 | AC: 27 / T: 23 / FF: 14 / Resist: Fire 5 Defiant Armor - vs Evil Outsiders +2 AC DR 2/- | F: +8, R: +14, W: +8 | BAB +6 CMB: +7 CMD: +30 | Ini: +15 Perception: +15

Dont get me wrong summoner is neat but can outclass some classes really quick~

That's one reason I'm looking forward to the updated version they're apparently working on - should be fun to see if it's a little more balanced than before. XD

(Of course, I prefer the Master Summoner archetype and summoning monsters instead of using an Eidolon...)

Male Dwarf Defender 12 [ HP: 209/209 THP: 0/0 | AC: 24, T: 12, FF: 24 | CMD: 31 | F: +17, R: +14, W: +18 (+5 vs. spells and SLAs, +3 vs. poison) | Init: +8, Per: +26 | 1: 7/7, 2: 7/7, 3: 5/5, 4: 4/4 | DDP: 0/36, GB: 12/12, MP: 5/5, P: 10/10, SM: 9/9, SR: 12/12 ]

Synthesist isn't even as good as the regular Summoner. Sure, it's cool playing Kamen Rider or w/e (but the Aegis does it better, now!) but losing an entire character worth of action economy is a kick in the nethers.

and who else plans on being a crafter?

Yes, that spell is allowed. ^^ And I believe it's your turn to post, Yukio. I'll be moving things ahead tomorrow otherwise.

Cleaned up the ini in main thread. I will include it in my actions more so I dont lose track.

Yukio may be wait in on a results post on what my bomb did to the enemy. And as stated I am using using precise bombs. ;)

Sorry for postingbahead of you Paige will wait this time as I am weighing whether another bomb is a good or bad thing in s situation.

Also I forgot to add my favored class bonus :p

Which increases my bomb damage by 1 every 2 levels. My bad will apply next level up.

Well, I'll be posting shortly - in general, though, I'll only be posting results after everyone has acted, not providing status updates after every action you take. If something happens that would obviously be relevant (such as one enemy being dead and two being alive, when your attack would do nothing to the dead one), I'll tweak it to whatever seems best for the situation (unless you give me instructions otherwise). ^^

So, I have a general idea what I want to do this round, but without a good picture of where everyone is, I'm really drawing a blank over exactly how to go about it.

I understand it's more work, but would it be possible for you to start making a simple combat grid, GM? It would help so much.

Maps are mainly for reference (unless it's a point in the game when it really -needs- to have everyone mapped out to function properly), so no, I generally won't be making combat grids. I generally play these things loose and friendly - if you think you're able to do something, you probably are, though I will smack down anything that looks like abuse of the system. ^^ If you're not sure in any given scenario, you can always ask for clarification.

Most likely I will be focusing on crafting arms and armor. Especially the Celestial Variety as it seemed very fitting and the thought of most of us having fly 1/d was awesome in regards to this demon fighting adventure.

Now the age old question for Rednal.

Apparently 'Celestial' is a special property not a material. So to avoid complications down the line.

Can Mithril be added to them?

Apparently there was an errata that removed the silver/gold comment out of Celestial armor which opened the flood gate for this debate. Becasue that would mean you could make Celesial Mithril Pate which Celestial treats the armor as one lighter and by its wording it allows Mithril to make it another step lighter.

So Mithril Celestial Plate Armor would be considered light armor and require Medium armor proficiency because of Celestial.

Just like how Celestial Armor is treated as Light in terms of proficiency and such.

Mithril Celestial Armor would give +8 AC +11 Dex 5% ASF and 0 ACP

The full plate version would be Medium for proficiency but Light Armor due to mithril. +9 Dex 0 ACP 10% ASF.

Add Celestial shield and you have one epic PLate/Shield for paladins! :D

Anywho I understand Julian won't know how to make stuff like this off the bat, mithril availability and what not. Just thought I'd post this and make sure I know where you stand.

Tried to figure it out in forums and/but ultimately its your game so I went to the source instead~

Because I plan on making this for everyone with or without mithril because these are pretty awesome~ :D

Thanks!

I'm not sure -why- that errata happened, but my ongoing rule of thumb here is that Celestial armors are already made of mithril (that's why they're treated as a step lighter - though one could also make the argument that duplicate effects on armor wouldn't stack, kind of the way you only get one Enhancement Bonus at a time).

Even if that weren't the case, I'd probably object on general principle - you're going to have ludicrously strong characters as it is, and the kind of defensive boosts such a thing would offer would make it even harder to scale enemies appropriately. XD They wouldn't hit very often, but to make up for that, they'd all hit much harder...

I am absolutely in the "struggle heroically against the armies of evil" camp, rather than the "wade through the enemy, slaughtering and laughing as you go".

Oh, and I forgot to mention this earlier, but you've all earned your first Soul Point. You'll need a few more to actually buy anything, of course, but you're getting there. XD

Male Dwarf Defender 12 [ HP: 209/209 THP: 0/0 | AC: 24, T: 12, FF: 24 | CMD: 31 | F: +17, R: +14, W: +18 (+5 vs. spells and SLAs, +3 vs. poison) | Init: +8, Per: +26 | 1: 7/7, 2: 7/7, 3: 5/5, 4: 4/4 | DDP: 0/36, GB: 12/12, MP: 5/5, P: 10/10, SM: 9/9, SR: 12/12 ]

Neat. Additionally, Tarov's probably more likely to stick to his roots and get some Adamantite Full Plate made. Dwarfy as all get out. :)

Female Human Paladin/Bard 2 | HP: 18/24 | AC: 16/12/14 | Fort +10, Ref +10, Will +8 | BAB +2, CMB +5, CMD 17 | Init: +7 | Perception: +5

Yeah, struggle is a good way to do it, especially when the words "mythic gestalt" can lead to such a mess otherwise. I'm guessing "Soul Point" is for something other than us all being forced to class into Souldrinker?

Paige is going to probably end up in Full Plate with some tiers in her belt, but until then Chain Shirt works fine.

Julian Religion: Desna | HP: 96/103 | AC: 27 / T: 23 / FF: 14 / Resist: Fire 5 Defiant Armor - vs Evil Outsiders +2 AC DR 2/- | F: +8, R: +14, W: +8 | BAB +6 CMB: +7 CMD: +30 | Ini: +15 Perception: +15

well the errata took out the Silver and Gold wording as Mithril cannot be combined with anything made of silver.

Hence why I asked. but Celestial on its own is still fairly neat on its own. :) Just wanted clarification is all as the debates I have readnever got a ruling from the devs at least the ones I saw. Master Marshmellow was quite a good poster. :D

All they did was make Celestial a stand alone sort of 'Property', sort of like the armor was blessed or something as I can understand it. While removing any mention of particular metals in use. It was all very strange.

But If Celestial Items are made of Mithril here then that answers that! :)

I definitely don't want to repeat that debate here, yeesh. lol

Also Soul Point added towards the top of my sheet didn't know if you had a particular spot for them or not. ;)

I'm also keeping track of them in the campaign tab, should you care to look. ^^ They'll be awarded at each part of the book you complete, as well as whenever something particularly memorable happens.

@Paige: To quote from the recruitment page, "Soul Points: Yes. For those of you who don't know - which I'm sure is most of you - Soul Points are basically my version of PFS boons. You'll earn them as you complete sections of each chapter in this adventure path, and they're redeemable for things like bonus traits, feats, access to powerful items, and so on. Soul Points aren't limited to this game - if you get into another game I run (or are currently in one!), points earned here can be spent there as well."

I wonder how much people will frown on my getting a Poison Sheath for Julian...

GM Rednal Any particular restrictions on making Alchemical goods?

Example
Poison/Alchemical Goods -> Master Alchemist (Don't have but can have by 5th/7th level which requires only 5 ranks in craft alchemy) = 7 doses of Poison or alchemical goods at a time (1+Int Bonus).

Just another scenario for you to chew on. :)
