Kei makes sure to keep watch on the hallway they came from, hoping the lock wasn't proving an effective distraction.

"I can do it." Brass glared at the door. "But it's gonna take some time," she added with a sigh. "I can stay here and fight it if you want, and I'll get it eventually, or we can wander off and come back...maybe with something explosive."
Iyashi Kei |
Kei caws frustratedly. "Dangerous! Keep moving!" he complains, not content to sit around waiting for the damned door to open itself.
Brass Avasa |
Nodding, Brass put away her tools and headed down the long corridor, to take a peek around the corner.
Brass Avasa |
With no obvious enemies, Brass moved to the first door on the right, since it was the closest one to the corner. Kneeling by it, she tried to listen and see if there was anyone in residence before checking for traps and, if necessary, pick the lock.

Brass glanced around. "it's depressing that I'm about to check the broom, isn't it?" She moved over, examining it before touching it. Sure, she'd look a little silly if it was just a regular broom, but if it was the fabled Murder Broom of Calock Bree then she'd be the one laughing, and fighting a broom.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Iyashi Kei |
Kei shakes his head. "Check all!" he squawks as he observes the rest of the area. "Overconfident makes dead!"
GM Rednal |
Brass carefully checks over things before you move through the next door, and eventually announces the all-clear for you to go in. Along the walls of this room lie piles of wood and tools, neatly stacked. A large box sits in the center of the room. Various carpentry equipment used for making coffins is stored here, including 120 8 ft. long 2x4s, 3 hammers, 2 saws, one axe, a chisel and roughly 10,000 rusty but usable nails in an iron box.
Iyashi Kei |
Kei is mostly uninterested in the building materials, eyes still darting around the room.
Room to the left of 16 next?
GM Rednal |
As before, Brass checks over the door to this room before the three of you push it open - and inside, you see three massive dire rats as well as about several dozen babies - there are so many of them that it's hard to actually count. On the bright side, none of them are capable of reacting faster than the three of you...
Iyashi Kei |
Damnit, looks like my thing stopped noticing updates again.
Round 1
Kei reacts quickly, his mind blade humming into being as he reaches out with a feathered hand and focuses his powers to siphon the life force from one of the adult dire rats.
Kei forms his mind blade (free action) then uses Steal Health on one of the dire rats (standard action).
Steal Health ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

Brass grunted. "Nice reflexes." She listened to the rats scrabbling at the doors. "So...shall I nail this one shut? We could come back in a week or two." She paused for a moment, considering the squeaks. "Or never. What goodies can rats have? Of course, they must have another way out, since the door was closed before..."
Iyashi Kei |
Kei glares at the door for a moment, before turning on his heel and heading down the hallway to the next doorway.
Iyashi Kei |
I was thinking the one next to room 21, but I'll wait on Alamar and Brass to chime in. :)
Brass Avasa |
"How could we possibly miss that?" Brass sighs. "OK...so, we can head back towards the entrance (1) and the two doors there. Or we can go west (21) and whatever is over there. And finally we can go back east to that southern door. I kinda like the southern door, myself."
The one across from 17 to be clear.
GM Rednal |
Pushing open the door to that room is easy. Slightly less easy? Facing down the five ogres inside, who have their weapons in hand and were clearly waiting for you.

Round 2
Kei's mind blade hums to life as he steps backwards and squawks at the ogres. "Bad!" he cries, reaching out and attempting to siphon the life from the biggest ogre to undo the damage one had done to Brass.
Kei forms his mind blade (free action), moves back 10 feet (move action), and uses Steal Health on the biggest Ogre (standard action).

"Oh, whoa, hey, down folks. Not on a first date. Or any date, for that matter." Hefting her huge hammer with a whirl of machinery Brass brought the weapon down on the ogre that had managed to hit her. It was only good conditioning to show the results of such actions.

Iyashi sent a flicked mind blade through the air, stabbing into the largest ogre - though there wasn't much room to retreat afterwards, given the size of the hall. Brass hammered one of the other ogres a moment later, and Alamar stepped in to finish it off, then pound the next one. It wasn't enough to drop the second, but it was definitely enough to wound it, and the ogres roared angrily before resuming their assault.

Fighting defensively seemed to be working, though, even as the Ogre in the back snarled out a few orders.

Brass laughed nastily as Alamar killed off one. Shifting her grip a little, Brass took a swing at another. There didn't seem to be much difficulty with these creatures.

Alamar was able to finish off the wounded ogre - and suddenly bereft of the original target, Iyashi was able to stab out to the side instead, impaling a third and dropping it in a single blow. That left just one more of the smaller ogres - weakened by Brass' hammer strike - and the leader. They wasted no time in lunging out at the bird-man.

One of the attacks from the leader actually managed to hit - and hit pretty hard, at that, as the massive ogre quite literally tried to crush every bone in Iyashi's body.

Round 4
Kei squawks in pain, but regains his composure quickly. Bringing his weapon down low, he swings upward, the blade leaving a trail of purple psionic power in its wake. He then seems to fade out of existance, only to appear rushing away from the monstrous humanoid.
Kei uses Brilliant Moon on the leader ogre (standard action), then expends his psicrystal's psionic focus to use Psychoportive Talent to move 5 feet away from the leader ogre, then moves away (move action).

Iyashi darted across the room, and with a flash of manifested light, his weapon plunged straight into the big ogre. Alamar stepped forward a moment later, thrusting his rapier straight into the massive beast's heart. Even as it started to topple, Brass hammered the last of the minions - and the room was clear. The leader's body shook the floor as it landed, scattering a number of small coins on the floor - before the disturbance, at least, there seemed to have been three rows of 100 CP each, all heads, tails, then heads again.
The leader was also carrying a sack with human skull and hunk of uncooked meat, an empty bag, and a 5 SP silver ring. Furthermore, there was another door to the south, across from the entrance, and a tunnel heading east.
2130 XP - and 89 GP in addition to the CP lying on the floor.
