Adamant Guardian Sentinel/Dual Channeler Mid-Casting Soul Weaver it is, then. I'm having a couple busy days but I hope I'll have her re-statted up by tomorrow, with higher Charisma and lower Wisdom.
Asta Ingedottir |
OK, I should be good to go. I'll give Asta the once-over later today to catch any little errors.
I took her down the path of black magic for the additional secrets, giving her the fortune hex and the curse ability, as well as the legalistic oracle curse, all refluffed as ties to fate.
Let me know if there's any questions or concerns. Thank you!
Blommhilde Shieldheart |
I'm almost done, just need to pick casting spheres and skills, I should be ready soon. And I'll change my surname.
Blommhilde Shieldheart |
All done! She's a steel-clad behemoth (I hope half-plate isn't too complex an armor for the setting, if so I can scale down). The main part of the build is to be a shield for the others, using patrol to create a safe zone. Defend Other allows me to take attacks meant for others, and the battlefield around me will be a tactical nightmare.
As for the magical part, Soul Weaver starts to shine around level 6 when good blessings and blights come into action, so for now she'll channel for burst healing, rely on revitalization for the time being. I took the "Unkillable Warrior" combination, long-term fast healing, to save actions in combat and give us all a bit of a health buffer. Finally, the War Sphere means I can slap tactical feats on you or just give you a damage bonus by being around you.
I'll try to make it as easy as possible to deal with immediate/reactive actions (there are several immediate action/AoO talents), stating my intentions for the enemy turn.

Well, let me put it this way: The North has quite a lot of storms and sailing. Are you sure you want to be wearing a lot of heavy, movement-impairing metal if you go overboard?
(Not an idle threat, by the way. The current players JUST got through a storm that knocked a lot of people overboard. And were almost buried in the snow by one earlier in the game. Weather's nasty in this part of the world.)
Half-Plate is, however, within the technology level of the area. ...Barely. Like, literally only in the town the ship (that you are on) sailed from. XD Nothing heavier is present at all.
The bec de corbin is definitely an outside weapon, though, not something the North would normally produce. (They don't really have Cavalry, so Brace weapons, in general, aren't necessary. For that matter, Bec's are super awkward in close-quarters combat, which is where the Northlanders do most of their fighting.)

*Leans back, a Throwing Axe in each hand, throwing one straight up, then catching it again*
Just signing in again. Yep, I'm ready. I MAY still alter some choices, but right now I believe those are all ones in the future(e.g. after re-reading about attack actions/special attack actions and the mechanics and the fact I have no regular rapid shot, I MAY transfer any or all of the planned Fencing Spheres into the Barrage Sphere to actually have meaningful switch-hittery as an option.
And a yay for Throwing Mastery...which could well have Ricochet Toss as an Associated Feat...and either saves the Blinkback Belt...
Just a pity the one time I'm playing a Fighter, Gloves of Dueling are outside the scope of the setting.
Blommhilde Shieldheart |
Roger that, I'm switching to breastplate and taking the Heavy Armsman tradition for hammers and axes of all kinds.
Asta Ingedottir |
You may want to. Normal spears are quite common, if you wanted to keep the idea of aggressively poking things to death.
(And, thematically, Reach weapons in general just don't fit the area. Too big and awkward to easily carry on ships and the like.)
Okies, regular spear it is!

Happy Christmas you all!
Sigurd Koshchey |
Belated merry christmas and thanks!
@All games: My apologies for the unannounced absence.
As many others, I had been visiting family during the christmas holidays.
I figured I would have some time to post in the evenings - alas, I only had my work laptop with me, and due to neglicence on my part(I don't really actually restart it all that often...hibernate FTW) my certification for the VPN-Tunnel that is enforced on all internet access was not up-to-date. Result being that I had no access to the WWW despite W-Lan availability.
I could, and should, probably have written such an update from my phone, and posted it to all my games, but honestly, I've been too lazy for that - not really a big fan of writing much without a keyboard. So, apologies for that. I came back home today, and will try and catch up with all games as soon as possible/over the next 48 hours.
Sigurd Koshchey |
Aye...I'm lucky enough to say my little one never really was ill so far.
I only know how when she stays up past bedtime, she gets all cranky and pissed and does not understand why herself(but with a grim determination attempts to avoid sleeping as long as she can, because she's not relaxed enough to go to bed).
At least THAT is a struggle she inevitably loses, but I believe I can roughly imagine what it would be like to have that go on for days. Here's hoping you're all feeling better again soon, especially the little one.
(I know you are back to working, but I'm still including you-)
Eydis |
I've got four kids, thankfully no babies, so I've run through the sick baby stage a few times. It's never fun.
Still, at least they aren't having a four-way battle royal over who plays what...
But yes, get well soon.

We're also wrestling with the sleep issue with this one; she sleeps sometimes only like 7 hours in a 24 hour period, which is about half what she should be at her age. Suggestions would be welcome.
Still, at least they aren't having a four-way battle royal over who plays what...
This is a terrifying vision. :)
No children of mine, but three sisters. I know how you must feel.
Ufda! That's a lot of sisters!
Sigurd Koshchey |
Just as an heads-up(for all my games): In less than 24 hours from now, my second child will be born.
I took a one-month leave from work to stay at home, so chances are I will have opportunities to post.
But between bonding with the little one and keeping the bigger one entertained, my posting patterns MAY be erratic at times, which is why I feel it's fair to inform fellow players(and GM's).
Only the faster-moving games will find a need to bot me, I hope, but if I am responsible for delay, do move on.

@Blades: It's not just the lack of proficiency - Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, Fighter Weapon Training, Critical Genius...
I feel the lack of proficiency is inconvenient, but could be worth overcoming if those are situationally sufficiently powerful weapons - e.g. a magical beast-bane scimitar. Or a blade offering elemental damage our enemies may be vulnerable to.
But I would give up a lot of Boni from the Throwing Axe Focus, so figured it's a better option for someone else.
That said, Discussion is a forum for this kind of thing - cool as the tools may be, I feel I cannot use any of them to an effect greater than what I would give up. I will happily take whatever is left and try to make use of it if the situation seems applicable - the wand, if not magic-dependent, simply seemed the most likely to provide additional flexibility without overlapping with existing options.
Blommhilde Shieldheart |
I can grab proficiency in either weapon for a minute a day due to Barroom Brawler, and so can Asta thanks to the Spiritualism power. So, while I'd like the breastplate, I can leave it to Eydis if she wants it, and take one of the weapons.
Eydis |
The breastplate would be my first choice, the wand being the second since I'm the castiest character here. But I'm probably more useful with the wand, and the breastplate would only add +1 to my AC (plus whatever mojo it has going).
I wouldn't have proficiency with either of the weapons, and no way to gain it. Plus for storyline reasons Eydis is unlikely to give up using her shield and spear.
Sigurd Koshchey |
Oh, aye...I just figured we could discuss OOC in more plain terms who could make, potentially, best use of what-
With the weapons, it's a pity that the Sphere's "training" is very specific - you can almost certainly get training in a weapon you want via martial tradition - but it's not particularily flexible. So, as said, same boat as Eydis there.
Armor: I originally had Armor Training, and intended to make use of a Breastplate(plus Swift Iron Style). Unfortunately Coiled Snake replaces Armor Training, so now I depend on unarmored training for AC.
Wands: No UMD, and no magical ability.
If it's something useable via standard command, as in, use-activated instead of spell completion, possibly with charges per day, then I'd happily pick the wand and marvel at it's fascinating powers. If one needs to have magic in one's blood to begin with(well, I will have a Bloodline down the line) that's less of an option.
In summary, I think the weapons should go to Asta and Blommhilde, if they can gain temporary proficiency with them.
The Wand? Depends if I can use it...if not, that's clearly for Eydis. With the Breastplate, probably Blommhilde or Eydis, whoever would benefit most from it.
If that's the most efficient way, I'm fine not getting something fancy. I depend on my own power, rather than borrowed tokens from the Ulnat. */Pride*

Aw yeah, forgot about that. Sweet! Scimitar it is.
Sigurd Koshchey |
@Rednal: I think we all took our stuff. I only responded to your OOC in OOC, but nobody else filled the quota - I do believe we are ready to move on, having distributed all the borrowed artifacts.
