You didn't complain when the Mimic was using you as chew toy ^_^
That said, yeah, I need them nat 20's, now that bracers of falcon's aim are nerfed ;) - improved crit is still a way off...

And my init.

I think what Vincent meant was that a 20 per person now and then is good and fine. But if you include init, I drained 4 20's in 5 rolls from our karma pool, more than my fair share :)
(and inefficiently so. A unconfirmed crit threat wastes a natural 20, and a 20 as confirmation roll is also not necessary...)

Not unless your GM decides to amuse himself by using a critical hit generator in celebration, anyway. o wo

Hey, your class feature, Plany. Any specific questions you had in mind?

I'd have to read up on the ability to come up with something good. If we're just being sudden(surprising me as much as Phai), I have no idea about wether they are obliged to answer in some form, or could simply go "no comment" 5 times and vanish.

I can think up a few; questions where lying itself gives away things. For instance:

    1) Did you die to become this creature, or was your body hijacked by something against your will?
    2) Since violence failed, do you have any warnings you'd like to give to keep us from going to see Sarlu? Maybe an explanation of whatever you're trying to stop?
    3) Will there be more of you, seeking vengeance, etc, such that you want to threaten and curse us out?
    4) How much would you be willing to pay to have your body brought to a Druid capable of Reincarnation spells—and if you're into that, why is your return to life not a terrible thing for everything around you?
    5) Where are you from?
    6) Who do you serve?

    etc.

    HP: 37/40 | AC: 20 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +8 | Hero Points: 3/3 | 25 feet speed | Perception: +6 Active Effects: none

Personally, I'm a fan of the 3-guards riddle...(one always lies, one always tells the truth, one stabs people asking tricky questions)

So, I'll stick with the less convulated ones, but go by your inspiration. Assuming this even works. (Undead are destroyed rather than regular dying, aren't they? - may be they don't have a proper soul to draw back because it's shattered into tiny fragments by pulsating positive energy :) ) -> waiting on Rednal to see IF asking undead is a thing before posting.

It really depends on the ability you're using. Incorporeal undead tend to be outright destroyed (i.e. "vanish") when slain, leaving no body behind. That kind of wrecks options like Speak With Dead, although more powerful communication powers might work. I haven't checked the gameplay thread yet, and probably won't until my normal evening update. Which power are we talking about?

Yeah. I don't know if the spirits were the humans who died or just possessing their bodies, but I figure where there's a corpse, there's usually a dead spirit (and destroying undead iirc just frees up their spirits to be regularly resurrected as human again, etc)

    HP: 37/40 | AC: 20 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +8 | Hero Points: 3/3 | 25 feet speed | Perception: +6 Active Effects: none

Yeah, but in the case of incorporeal undead, unless they have a possession or manifestation ability, they usually don't wear their corpses like meat puppets.

What DOES irritate me a bit is that this works remarkably like Yin's own Failsafe. Only she used her actual shadow who would become active when she is unconscious.

So maybe you're in luck, and those are some kind of hybrid undead/humans.

Does it have a reach-grab-thing? Because otherwise it should provoke from at least one person closer to the pool, and from my glaive...?

I mean, I did have some concept ideas about a Elven Gunslinger/Warpriest and a Vishkanya Incanter/Brawler...*sigh*

It's a... pretty big eel. Good reach, yes. XD

Aye...it's just kinda...weird, how it can "grab" on me with a bite without closing in sufficiently to provoke from my glaive :)

    HP: 37/40 | AC: 20 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +8 | Hero Points: 3/3 | 25 feet speed | Perception: +6 Active Effects: none

Hum. With a concentration check of 10+CMB of this thing, I can forget about casting defensively. I also doubt I can overcome it with an escape artist-check.(even if I would manage with a surge, I would likely only avoid the Gnaw-Damage, and get re-bitten).

Honestly, I am hoping for you guys to come up with a solution, there-

    M Suli Aegis (Trailblazer) 5, Fighter (Unbreakable) 1/Medium (Spirit Dancer) 6/Mythic Trickster 1 | HP: 71/86, Stamina: 1/8 | AC: 19 / T: 12 / FF: 19 | Fort: +9, Ref: +4, Will: +6 | M. Also, glaives can't be used while grappling... upside, if it grabbed you last turn, you can't be *that far* underwater.

Amybody got magic missiles or something? I went champion this fight which means I can't cast offensive spells.

    HP: 37/40 | AC: 20 | Fort: +8, Ref: +8, Will: +8 | Hero Points: 3/3 | 25 feet speed | Perception: +6 Active Effects: none

Na, Glaive's not the problem, I still have my trusty spiked shield - I'm just still considering if it's worth trying with underwater combat, or I'm better off going total defense.

Now, luckily, a Spiked Shield does Piercing Damage, so I can totally shield bash underwater without any penalties to attack or damage if I can manage to get some footing.
Yay mechanics.(again! Hey, it can bite me without approaching sufficiently to be glaived...then I can take advantage of piercing shield spike damage...)

Still, not sure what I'll do, I'll wait for Vincent and you before deciding.

Any clues to the nature of the trap—spell, elemental damage, etc.—that we could potentially buffer ourselves against?

Also, if we wait a day, I can reconfigure for Disable Device up to around +13, either to aid another or try it myself—plus, surge bonuses.

Unfortunately, you literally can't even see its components to disable or identify them, but the way it's designed suggests a trap.

(As described in the book... this is a REALLY complicated box. Think, like, one of those puzzles they sell where you have to move everything juuuuuust right on five different sides to get it to work. Most traps will be way easier to identify than this thing is.)

M Suli Aegis (Trailblazer) 5, Fighter (Unbreakable) 1/Medium (Spirit Dancer) 6/Mythic Trickster 1 | HP: 71/86, Stamina: 1/8 | AC: 19 / T: 12 / FF: 19 | Fort: +9, Ref: +4, Will: +6 | M. Right. Does it seem likely that it's one trap set off once, or a number of traps we can set off one at a time?

Also, whoever designed this thing probably had a safe way to open it—which is what I was hoping for clues to with my spell, but I guess it's reasonable that the information has been lost to time.

The chest is complicated enough that its defenses probably aren't a one-and-done thing.

With the right combination of pushing on the rods and such, the box can be safely opened. Basically, like most good security systems, it's harmless to those who know how to do the right things.

(Hence the complex skill check here, where you need a certain number of successes before a certain number of failures. I'm pretty sure the developers wanted it to be more of a challenge than what a character with ranks in DD could pass with one roll, particularly given your mythic abilities. XD It's unlikely that every future check is going to be this way, but it's probably reasonable to expect similar challenges in the future.)

-Cat's Grace via Vincent's Wild Arcana
    -Heroism from Phai's spirit

With Child's Seance Boon from Marshal, these should give a total of +5 to all of Isen's disable rolls.

You're welcome to buff as you wish (as long as it's something that would work on him, obviously), but note that once you start, you'll have to go to completion. (Which means the disabler can't buff themselves... but other people can buff them. XD)
