Third Report

Pharast 21, 4979 (Sunday)
-The gnome has a 'Road to Diamond Lake' experience, his vision extending.
-The morning allows for a visit to Tidwoad's to unload loot, a visit to Faraday's to discover Kendra's means of departure, a visit to Osgood's to sell and resize armor, and a visit to Lazare's to debrief and de-halfling.
-Lunch at the Hungry Gar, where more than fresh greens find their way to the table.
-An afternoon visit to Smenk's residence, and you are paid handsomely for your cult purge, although you do deny Smenk his evidence for the time-being.
-A later afternoon visit to Allustan's residence, where you learn of the epic battles of Wind Dukes and Agents of Chaos. He encourages you to hold onto the Diadem and the Talisman. The old man puts two and two together, then encourages you to assist him in visiting with his acquaintance, Marzena, at Blackwall Keep, to look into reports of worm sightings. Wheels are set in motion...
-A later, er, later afternoon visit to Ellival's residence, an unexpected reunion with Feathers, now Orniichyr, and negotiations with Ellival himself, as you reveal yourselves to the elf. Much magic is requisitioned, including masterwork weapons purchased from the Captain's Blade, and left for magicking within two days.

Pharast 22, 4979 (Moonday)
-The new day brings new companions, as Allustan introduces you to Eri of the Woods and Hourpen of the Garrison.
-A much-needed lesson in magic item identification brings the group together a little more.
-The diplomatic party makes their way to the Governor's Mansion, where they hold audience with Lanod Neff himself. After a tense, sustained, moment, you are free to go, and bid to report directly to Neff again, once you return from your escort to Blackwall Keep.
-Horses, a wagon, and Maurice are contracted for the journey south.

Pharast 23, 4979 (Toilday)
-Ellival's Items are gathered, Allustan is gathered, and the wagon departs for Blackwall Keep. The day is rainy, but tolerable. The first night on the road is uneventful.

Pharast 24, 4979 (Wealday)
-The second day of travel ends in an encounter with merchant and mercenary dwarves in an abandoned farmhouse along your path. You share a dry and warm night. Bagger, Gerber, Kilroy and Hogarth take to the attic, leaving you to sleep peacefully.

Pharast 25, 4979 (Oathday)
-Arrival at Blackwall Keep! Setting eyes on the siege, Allustan beats a hasty retreat, teleporting back to Diamond Lake for reinforcements.
-Upon approach, a race to the Keep, which ends in much death, feigned or otherwise, for all involved.
-A horn sounds, the lizardfolk retreat, allowing you time to enter the Keep, and account for the losses. Solrisa gives momentary chase.
-You learn that Davy, Elliot, Rufus, and Marzena were taken hostage.
-As the sun sets, another wave of lizardfolk dash themselves against Blackwall's rock. Once again, they are beaten back, this time, with you all present within the Keep, instead of without.

Pharast 26, 4979 (Fireday)
-In the morning, Marzena's quarters are ransacked for clues, the party going as far as reading the poor woman's journal.
-The party treks into the Mistmarsh, on a mission from Sampson to retrieve the hostages. The day's encounters include spiders and crocodiles, and soggy sleeping.

Pharast 27, 4979 (Starday)
-The second day in the Mistmarsh brings a chance encounter with an unknown tribe of lizardfolk on patrol. They indicate that the Twisted Branch Lair is your destination, and that you should have your heads about you should you cross paths again.
-Past some spiders, you trip across the Twisted Branch Dome, where you quickly gain entrance with words, not swords, as Hishka sees you safely into the Lair. You discover all is not sunshine and rainbows within the tribe.
-A battle with harpies, Kotabas and Shukak, and you overcome Ilthane's corruption of the Twisted Branch leadership. Rufus dies at Kotabas' claw before you're able to kill him, while you manage to convince Shesht to stand down.
-Ilthane's Gift, a black dragon's egg, is anything but, as you experience firsthand the insidiousness of the Kyuss worm. Preserving a majority of the lizardfolk eggs, you destroy the entirety of the contents of the egg, but not before studying the transformation of the Spawn of Kyuss- lizardfolk hatchlings converted to the undead, and their vicious attacks.
-Shesht and Hishka award you the title of 'Isthasi'- 'brother' of the lizardfolk. They ask you to facilitate the peace between the Mistmarsh and Egorian, and you are hosted for the evening.

Pharast 28, 4979 (Sunday)
-Departure from the Twisted Branch Lair, an encounter with constrictors, and another evening spent in the Mistmarsh.

Pharast 29, 4979 (Moonday)
-Another day of travel, passing a lizardfolk scouting party, before arriving at Blackwall in the evening.
-Solrisa and Eri are diagnosed with Immature Wormling, which fails to find purchase in their flesh, and drive the infection to its wormy end.
-Davy, Elliot, and Marzena are diagnosed with Slow Worm. Davy and Elliot succumb to the disease, becoming Spawn of Kyuss! They manage to infect Theo deeply, and they try to infect Mortimer and Rauffe as well, but Ascaria manages to save them both!
-Theo dies, and is reborn, selflessly allowing you to witness the transformation. Several bludgeons and channels later, and all is quiet.

Pharast 30, 4979 (Toilday)
-Solrisa manages to cure Marzena, as the new day brings a new power to her touch. A conversation, a true conversation, begins with the Blackwall Keep mage.
-Reinforcements arrive! You catch Allustan and Lieutenant Mikela up to speed on all that's come to pass, while allowing the soldiers time to begin making repairs on the Keep, and recreation at night, the first time in a long time for them.

Pharast 31, 4979 (Wealday)
-Travel to Diamond Lake, uneventful.

Gozran 1, 4979 (Oathday)
-Travel to Diamond Lake, uneventful.
-Arrival back in Diamond Lake, late evening.

So ends Book 3 of the Age of Worms Adventure Path :)

Heads up that I'll be AFK from April 8th to 19th. Going to Cuba on a Culture, Economics, and Technology junket with a board that I used to be on. More info here.

Feel free to play or GMPC my <insert yahoo's name here> for all the fun and laughs you can muster. Online access in Cuba is very rare and usually dial-up speeds so I won't be able to post much, but hope to read along when I can.

Hourpen, I think GM Rat Sass was just saying you couldn't spell strike on an AoO, and I think that's right. An AoO isn't a standard action, it's just a quick swing in response to an enemy.

But you did spell strike once, on the main hit, and saved Ascaria! Thank you!

That make sense. I didn't understand the bit about holding and casting spells. For the spellstrike to work with an AoO, the spell would have already needed to be cast and held. I was missing the part about the AoO only being a melee attack.

Alright, now. Looks like we should be back up and running! Vacation was a worthy investment of time, I'm glad to say. Great food, great sights, great times... I only wish the same fate on you all- time away :)

Getting back into the swing of things, I'm looking forward to re-upping the pace of the game. Try and chime in at least once a day. We'll be hoping that Hourpen can join us more strongly after August 19th.
