A wonderful, wonderful game. This link seems like a good beginner's guide, though I'd skip downloading it and just telnet to nethack.alt.org (that way you're playing "in public", and people can watch you play and see how you're doing, offer you tips, etc).
Male Gnome Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1 | HP 16/16 (18) | Rage 4/7 | AC 18 (16) T 13 (11) FF 16 (14) | CMD 14 (16) |Fort +5 (+7), Ref +2, Will +0 (+2) | Init +2 | Perception +5
This is the first gnome I've ever played and I'm try to work in some quirkiness that you might expect to see in a gnome as well as some strange mood shifts based upon certain topics that make sense for him.
With that said, I'd like to make sure everyone else is having fun with this character as well. If he starts to get obnoxious or too over the top please let me know. I don't want to detract from anyone's experience based on how I play this character.

I think there is a fine line between playing an entertainingly fun character and playing an obnoxious character that makes everyone else stop enjoying the game.
I just want to make sure I don't cross that line because challenge and role playing can be fun but party disruption is not.
Ultimately, let me know if I start to annoy anyone with his antics.
I wish I knew a way to do that... I just accidentally posted in my second game with this avatar, I changed it but it still shows this one in the other game but it isn't. Was funny, I tried for weeks to get into my "first" game and now am in two at the same time.
I just started trying to get into some games like a week or two ago and im already in three, and im trying not to be in more lol. You were just unlucky :P
I think mainly at first I did not know exactly what I was doing and people were just not interested in giving a new person a shot (I was trying at mythweavers and a few other sites). I finally got things figured out (I think) and am glad I got into the two games here. I love the pathfinder system and like the two characters I have put together a lot. This one has a lot more fluff than bite and in my opinion is the more interesting!
And by new, I mean new to PbP, not gaming, I have been tabletop gaming for more than 20 years :)
Male Half-orc Cleric 1 | HP 11/11 | AC 15 Tch 11 FF 14 | Fort +5* Ref +2* Will +8* | CMD 12 | Init +1
I'd like to recommend this thread for you all's perusal; a friend of mine is in it, and it has some very good examples of "good habits" for PbP. Plus, it's pretty fun to read.

Normally for stuff about your own character, you work out the Perception DC and give the results. Not saying it has to be that way, of course, that's just what I've observed in general.

That's the way I handle it. I only interrupt when a DC seems unrealistic.
Most of you heard the squeeking. When you use speak with animal, as far as I know, you are speaking in there language. So speaking with a wolf is in wolf or a...what ever is in the hat...is speaking that animals tongue. Might be based in house rule, but it makes sense.

Either way works. I assumed I was speaking normally but the animals magically understood and I magically understood their responses. I'll respond to the perception for both for both of the previous checks.
+1 hero point to Zat. I put that in there just to confuse things. You solved it brillantly, good job. You are now at 2 hero points, and can cheat death if you need.
We were talking that whole time. I just imagine the laural chick to be like frozen in time. Like when characters in shows will sometimes step to the side and talk to the camera and everyone freezes and like becomes grey, thats how i see that whole conversation taking place lol
Otherwise it wouldnt make sense. We kind of took off with our own thing in the middle of her big character introduction that is important to the story. Sorry GM. However... It was fun/funny. Zat is defiantly a fun comic relief lol
Its ok, its your game too. I play it accordingly to your actions. I gotta give others a chance to respond to her. But I did notice you two, and she wasn't frozen. One camera was simply focused on the Gnome and Elf, while other cameras were watching other things that are going on at the same time.
Don't appologize for having fun. Just expect the story to react to what you do IC.
Jeez... Where is the rest of our group :P. im enjoying this character. I hope everyone gets to post tomorrow so maybe we can gets some action going here along with the fun dialogue.
M Half-Orc (Mystic) Druid (Wolf Shaman) 1 | HP 10 | AC 16 FF 14 T 12 | Saves +4/+3/+6 | Init + 4 | Percep +7
Completely unrelated to anything we're doing, but I'd suggest everyone read this. It's got some posting guidelines, mostly for ease of reading. It is sometimes nice for everyone to post similar things similarly...
This game is more active then my other one, and I am really enjoy, well both my characters. They are very different personalities.
I am also trying my hand at running a PbP on a private forum with some real life friends, sadly to play together we need to as we are spread across four states. I am also running a bi-weekly in person group. Both of those games are The Rise of the Runelords AP.
