Arcane Magical WritingsTo record an arcane spell in written form, a character uses complex notation that describes the magical forces involved in the spell. The writer uses the same system no matter what her native language or culture. However, each character uses the system in his own way. Another person's magical writing remains incomprehensible to even the most powerful wizard until he takes time to study and decipher it.
To decipher an arcane magical writing (such as a single spell in another's spellbook or on a scroll), a character must make a Spellcraft check (DC 20 + the spell's level). If the skill check fails, the character cannot attempt to read that particular spell again until the next day. A read magic spell automatically deciphers magical writing without a skill check. If the person who created the magical writing is on hand to help the reader, success is also automatic.
Once a character deciphers a particular piece of magical writing, he does not need to decipher it again. Deciphering magical writing allows the reader to identify the spell and gives some idea of its effects (as explained in the spell description). If the magical writing is a scroll and the reader can cast arcane spells, he can attempt to use the scroll.
Wizard Spells and Borrowed Spellbooks
A wizard can use a borrowed spellbook to prepare a spell he already knows and has recorded in his own spellbook, but preparation success is not assured. First, the wizard must decipher the writing in the book (see Arcane Magical Writings, above). Once a spell from another spellcaster's book is deciphered, the reader must make a Spellcraft check (DC 15 + spell's level) to prepare the spell. If the check succeeds, the wizard can prepare the spell. He must repeat the check to prepare the spell again, no matter how many times he has prepared it before. If the check fails, he cannot try to prepare the spell from the same source again until the next day. However, as explained above, he does not need to repeat a check to decipher the writing.
Essentially, this spellbook counts as a borrowed spellbook, and it will take you several hours to decipher the spells in it - something you don't have the time for at the moment.

Took months for my older Dane to warm up to my Dane puppy but they're best pals now :-)
Our original dog is a border collie/Alaskan husky mix (looks more border collie than husky). The new one is a pug mix. He’s also proven to be far more rambunctious than initially thought, and had to have his neuter operation redone, cause he popped the stitches.

I'll be honest with you, I the player forgot his place in the plan. The character of course went over it a few minutes before and is far more focused than me so he's just like stabbing them was clearly the right move as things developed.
Okay, guys. I know Rigel's player said they were busier with the promotion, but it has been over a month since that happened. I messaged them and haven't heard anything, nor have they posted in the game I'm a player with them in - or anywhere else - since the post informing us. So, I'm going to bring in a replacement. If Rigel comes back, we'll just roll with 7 PCs.
Once I've made a decision, I'll let you know who I'm bringing in.

Sometimes this game moves a little slower. Combat usually moves pretty quickly. We've got some fairly swingy time zones in this group, as well, so that slows things down, too.

Think I'm going to stick with the Vampire line of feats. Just made of paper until I can die :). Should be able to disguise it though with disguise and the misdirection ability. Making myself detect as LG :) GM do you want me to do an intro post getting surly with any of the guards?

Okay guys, Amalrus has officially dropped from the game. I'll be looking at the remaining Arcane submissions and seeing who is still available - although I probably won't work them in until the escape is finished at this point.

So I just realized how crap of a feat seething hatred is. I though it doubled the studied target bonus, seems it just does damage. Is it cool to trade it out still? Thanks.

Incidentally, you were half-right on what it did. It doubles the studied target bonus, but only the damage bonus, not the to-hit bonus, and only against the chosen favored enemy. Don't know if that changes your opinion.
Yeah I took it for humans thinking it doubled the to hit and damage, if that was the case I would keep it, but just extra damage is meh... I will see what may be worthwhile. If I don't find anything then maybe I will keep it. I will post and let you know what I replace it with.

meh extreme prejudice gains an average of 1pt per die but I will never roll a bunch of sneak attack. I just went with plain old Power attack :)
Feat taxes are in effect - you get Power Attack for free.

So forgot about not being proficient with longsword so that attack missed by a lot more. Think I'm going to fight with a longspear. So I think I will take combat reflexes if retraining will be an option. As I will eventually get it for free when the full vampire template kicks in. Thanks.
