Are you investigating the door, or going down one of the hallways?

Male Tiefling Hooded Champion 2; HP 20/20; AC 20, T 13, FF 17; Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +2; Resist cold 5, electricity 5, fire 5 Init +3; Senses darkvision 60 ft.; Perception +6; Panache 1/1;

If given the 'magical all-clear', he will move into the room and make sure nothing nasty comes down one of the hallways at the party.

Female Aasimar Cleric of Reymenda 8 | 62/62 HP | AC 15 T 11 FF 14 | Fort +9 Ref +4 Will +12 | Initiative +1 | Perception +7 | Channel Energy 6/6 | Holy Lance 1/1 | Rebuke Death 8/8 | Touch of Good 8/8

Isabella quickly casts guidance on Yasu, just in case he needs to respond to some unknown hazard, before he crosses the room.

Male Gnome Wizard 3 | HP 20/20 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | F+2 R+2 W+3 (ALL +2 vs illusions, +2 vs fear and despair) | Perception +7 | Init +7 | CMB -2 | CMD 10

Sorry, I thought I had already responded, but I guess I didn't submit it or something? My bad.

"The weapon isn't magical, though it looks to be fine quality. There is some low-level magic about the place, but likely just presentational magic - nothing dangerous."

Talia Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Talia moves to the door and looks it over, finding it unlocked and not trapped. She looks to the rest of you and says, "I hear a pair of voices on the other side of the door. I can't quite make out what they are saying, though."

If you decide to take the ranseur, let me know. It doesn't require a check to tug it loose. Tell me when you are ready to proceed through the door.

Female Half-Elf Bloodrager (Urban) 3 | HP 20/35 | AC 16 (T 12, F 14) | CMB +6, CMD 18 | F +5, R +3, W +4 (+6 vs Charm and Compulsion) (All +1 vs Arcane Spells) | Init +3 | Perc +8 | Speed 40 | Rage 10/10

Laufey takes the ranseur. It looks valuable. We should be getting something for our trouble down here.

As she works it loose, she asks Talia and Rasmorn "you talk about these people Alznast and so on, as if you know who they are? Who are they?"

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia gestures for silence, "There are two on the other side of this door!" She says in a quiet voice. "Lets deal with them first, then discuss things."

If the door is locked?
Disable device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

When everyone is prepared Talia opens the door as quietly as she can.

The door opens fairly silently, revealing a large chamber that was obviously once a prison, based on the nearly twenty cells that line the room's permiter. A rickety wooden platform overlooks the room, with two flights of stairs descending to the floors below. A five-foot wooden walkway runs from the northern edge of the platform to a passageway to the east.

Though you cannot see the source of the two voices from the doorway, you can hear them more clearly. Though they don't know the language, Talia and Rasmorn both recognize it as Aklo. They also think that the voices sound like the creature you encountered earlier - a Sinspawn.

GM Rolls:

Rasmorn Linguistics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Talia Linguistics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Sinspawn 1 Perception, distracted: 1d20 + 7 - 5 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 5 = 13
Sinspawn 2 Perception, distracted: 1d20 + 7 - 5 ⇒ (9) + 7 - 5 = 11

Male Tiefling Hooded Champion 2; HP 20/20; AC 20, T 13, FF 17; Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +2; Resist cold 5, electricity 5, fire 5 Init +3; Senses darkvision 60 ft.; Perception +6; Panache 1/1;

Yasu creeps forward. He looks at Talia and nods, drawing on his bow. He will get to be able to see them and then draw for a shot, but not releasing the attack until either he gets the signal or the creatures notice them.

Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia also sneaks forward.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

When she sees the creatures she will point them out to Yasu.

Male Gnome Wizard 3 | HP 20/20 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | F+2 R+2 W+3 (ALL +2 vs illusions, +2 vs fear and despair) | Perception +7 | Init +7 | CMB -2 | CMD 10

Rasmorn moves quietly forward behind them, rubbing his hands nervously.

Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

GM Rolls:

Sinspawn 1 Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Sinspawn 2 Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Despite your attempts to move forward quietly, there isn't much left in terms of cover, and both Sinspawn are able to see you. They both roar at you, and one, which was holding an old skull, tosses it away from him with a clatter.

Initiatives:

Rasmorn Init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Talia holds back her curses as the party is spotted, aiming and shooting at the closest Sinspawn.

Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 No comment.

Laufey? Anything?

Female Half-Elf Bloodrager (Urban) 3 | HP 20/35 | AC 16 (T 12, F 14) | CMB +6, CMD 18 | F +5, R +3, W +4 (+6 vs Charm and Compulsion) (All +1 vs Arcane Spells) | Init +3 | Perc +8 | Speed 40 | Rage 10/10

Sorry! Didn't realize we were waiting on me!

Laufey decides the higher ground might be best. The sinspawn don't seem to show restraint and she expects them to charge straight up the stairs.

She steps up beside Talia and readies an attack.

Attack (Power): 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 - 1 = 15

Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 = 16

Round 1

Talia holds back her curses as the party is spotted, aiming and shooting at the closest Sinspawn. Her crossbow bolt shoots wide.

Laufey decides the higher ground might be best. The sinspawn don't seem to show restraint and she expects them to charge straight up the stairs. She steps up beside Talia and readies an attack.

The first Sinspawn charges up the stairs straight at Laufey, who lashes out with her sword as it gets within range. She scores a deep wound on the creature, but it still reaches out to bite her.

GM Rolls:

Bite vs Laufey, Charge: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

The second Sinspawn, seeing its path blocked by its fellow, runs past the stairs and under the wooden walkway around to the other side, where it starts to ascend the other set of stairs.

On hearing Isabella's warning about the circling sinspawn Laufey begins to worry. Adrenaline surges through her and she pushes harder, finding strength where normally there is no more.

"We don't want them on two sides of us!" she says through gritted teeth as she aims to take the beast's head off with a follow up swing.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 = 14

Damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Enter Rage +4 to Strength (Free), Attack (Standard)

Not sure if Laufey still gets the +1 for high ground this round. If not subtract 1 from attack.

She does. Rasmorn? Yasu? Round 1 actions?

"I'll try to slow the other one down!" Rasmorn says, pulling a small piece of what looks like butter out of his spell component pouch. With a snap of the fingers, the butter evaporates, and the west stairs become coated in a thick layer of grease. He then takes a small step back.

Casting grease, with the west sinspawn as the southwest corner of my 10ft square. DC15 ref save or it falls.

Male Tiefling Hooded Champion 2; HP 20/20; AC 20, T 13, FF 17; Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +2; Resist cold 5, electricity 5, fire 5 Init +3; Senses darkvision 60 ft.; Perception +6; Panache 1/1;

Damage: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 + 1 = 7

Round 1

"I'll try to slow the other one down!" Rasmorn says, pulling a small piece of what looks like butter out of his spell component pouch. With a snap of the fingers, the butter evaporates, and the west stairs become coated in a thick layer of grease. He then takes a small step back. The sinspawn's feet slide a bit, but he doesn't fall.

GM Rolls:

Sinspawn 2 Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

"Coming around back!" says Isabella as she casts divine favor and unlimbers her unwieldy sword.

Yasu turns to the one coming around the back and fires upon it, since he has a clear line of sight to hit it. His massive arrow catches the Sinspawn in the arm, causing it to roar in pain, but it isn't particularly hindered by the blow.

Round 2

On hearing Isabella's warning about the circling sinspawn Laufey begins to worry. Adrenaline surges through her and she pushes harder, finding strength where normally there is no more. "We don't want them on two sides of us!" she says through gritted teeth as she aims to take the beast's head off with a follow up swing. She succeeds, her mighty swing just barely beating the creature's defenses to decapitate the beast.

Round 2 action from Talia, then the Sinspawn's turn.

Tracking:

Sinspawn 1 - dead
Sinspawn 2 - 12/19

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Turning Talia snaps a shot at the last Sinspawn.

Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Round 2

Turning Talia snaps a shot at the last Sinspawn. The bolt flies true, hitting the creature in the left leg. It still stands, however.

GM Rolls:

Acrobatics to move from Grease square 1, DC 10: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Acrobatics to move from Grease square 2, DC 10: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Acrobatics to stand up in Grease square 2, DC 10: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

The Sinspawn begins moving towards you, but it slips as it does so, falling down. It stands up right after it hits the stairs, glaring at you with rage.

Guys? Still here?

Female Aasimar Cleric of Reymenda 8 | 62/62 HP | AC 15 T 11 FF 14 | Fort +9 Ref +4 Will +12 | Initiative +1 | Perception +7 | Channel Energy 6/6 | Holy Lance 1/1 | Rebuke Death 8/8 | Touch of Good 8/8

With the creature closing in on her, Isabella has little choice but to swing her falchion and hope that Reymenda is with her.

Falchion attack, divine favor: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 5

Female Half-Elf Bloodrager (Urban) 3 | HP 20/35 | AC 16 (T 12, F 14) | CMB +6, CMD 18 | F +5, R +3, W +4 (+6 vs Charm and Compulsion) (All +1 vs Arcane Spells) | Init +3 | Perc +8 | Speed 40 | Rage 10/10

Laufey sticks her sword's point into the wooden platform with a 'thunk", more convenient than sheathing it, and takes up her bow. She aims at the sinspawn and looses an arrow.

Despite still catching her breath from her previous exertion, the arrow finds its mark, although not perfectly.

"You know, I am surprised they speak. I wonder what sinspawn have smalltalk about?"

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Male Gnome Wizard 3 | HP 20/20 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | F+2 R+2 W+3 (ALL +2 vs illusions, +2 vs fear and despair) | Perception +7 | Init +7 | CMB -2 | CMD 10

Seeing the first foe fall to Laufey's well placed blow, Rasmorn gains a little more courage. He steps forward, and tries to shoot a glob of acid at the remaining foe.

Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

He is somewhat distracted by Laufey's question, though. "Fascinating question! Maybe the best way to attack people? Quickest teeth sharpening technique? Favorite flavor of mushroom? Or perhaps they discuss the deeper philosophical questions, and just get really grumpy when they are interrupted."

Yasu looses another of his javelin-sized arrows at the Sinspawn.

Attack, Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 = 13

Yasu's arrow misses wide, but Laufey's is right on target, felling the Sinspawn.

Combat is over. The wooden walkway continues to another hallway, or you can descend to the stone floor to investigate the cells. What do you do?

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia will descend and check out what's in the cells.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 Sigh.

She is still too twitchy from combat to focus sadly.

Female Half-Elf Bloodrager (Urban) 3 | HP 20/35 | AC 16 (T 12, F 14) | CMB +6, CMD 18 | F +5, R +3, W +4 (+6 vs Charm and Compulsion) (All +1 vs Arcane Spells) | Init +3 | Perc +8 | Speed 40 | Rage 10/10

Laufey puts her bow away and yanks her sword free of the floorboard.

"Maybe they talk about food. It seems everyone everywhere talks a lot about food."

Talia finds that the cells are all either empty or possess naught but bones. There seems to be nothing else within them.

Someone else can make a Perception check if they want, or you can press on. What do you do?

Male Gnome Wizard 3 | HP 20/20 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | F+2 R+2 W+3 (ALL +2 vs illusions, +2 vs fear and despair) | Perception +7 | Init +7 | CMB -2 | CMD 10

Rasmorn gazes into the cells as well, as he nods along with Laufey. "True - living creatures seem to have that in common. We all like to eat."

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Rasmorn's eye catches a glint of something in one of the open cells. Reaching in, he pulls out an amethyst that had been hidden by a pile of bones.

The cells checked, the group returns to the rickety wooden platform and crosses to the stone hallway. After a short distance, the hallway opens up into a room containing several ancient relics of what appear to be torture implements, although their function and style seem strange and archaic. In one corner sits a spherical cage with spikes protruding inward from it's iron bars. In another stands what appears to be a star-shaped wooden frame, it's surface studded with hooks. In the center of the room sits a long table covered with leather straps and a number of cranks that seem designed to rotate and swivel.

There are 2 doors out of the room - one straight ahead and one to your left. Neither appears to be locked, and Talia doesn't think either is trapped.

Which door do you want to go through first?

Female Aasimar Cleric of Reymenda 8 | 62/62 HP | AC 15 T 11 FF 14 | Fort +9 Ref +4 Will +12 | Initiative +1 | Perception +7 | Channel Energy 6/6 | Holy Lance 1/1 | Rebuke Death 8/8 | Touch of Good 8/8

"Might as well check the unlocked one first," says Isabella.

"It's curious that this has been under Sandpoint this whole time and nobody has known about it."

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia will give Isabella a confused look when she suggests trying the unlocked door, but shrugs and tries the south door.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

She listens carefully first before opening it.

Female Aasimar Cleric of Reymenda 8 | 62/62 HP | AC 15 T 11 FF 14 | Fort +9 Ref +4 Will +12 | Initiative +1 | Perception +7 | Channel Energy 6/6 | Holy Lance 1/1 | Rebuke Death 8/8 | Touch of Good 8/8

Isabella says to Talia, "... because you can just open it? You don't have to fiddle with it?" She looks a little confused at the fact that Talia is confused.

Female Half-elf Rogue 3. HP 22/22, AC16, Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +1, +1 Reflex to avoid traps, +2 vs. enchantment spells and effects . Init +7, Perception + 11 (Vs Traps and surprise +12)

Talia was confused because both are unlocked, and you said try the unlocked one?

Both doors are unlocked, yes.

Talia hears nothing on the other side of the door, so she opens it, looking into a room containing the crumbling remnants of several chairs and a long table cluttering the center of the room. To the south stand three stone doors, each bearing a strange symbol of a seven-pointed star - the Sihedron rune. Strewn about the floor are torn and crumbled scrolls and books.

Perception DC 20:

Looking through the torn remnants, you find one that appears to be intact, covered in spiky writing.

If you have the ability to cast Detect Magic and do so, read this one.

Spoiler:

There is a magical aura of evocation about the paper.

If you read that second spoiler, you can make a DC 22 Spellcraft check or cast read magic to view the next spoiler.

Spoiler:

This is a scroll of flaming sphere, cast at level 5.

Stone Door 1:

You find a badly deformed humanoid skeleton with three brittle arms.

Stone Door 2:

You find a badly deformed humanoid skeleton with an enormous, misshapen skull.

Stone Door 3:

You find a badley deformed humanoid skeleton with a rib cage that goes all the way down to its pelvis - a pelvis with stunted leg bones strewn below its strangely flat girth.

None of the stone doors are locked. You can check the spoilers if you wish to investigate them. Let me know when you are ready for the next door.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Looking through the debris Talia finds an intact scroll covered in an unknown form of script. "Hey Rasmorn. What do you make of this?" She asks, handing the scroll to him

"Oh Ick!" Talia exclaims when she finds the horribly deformed skeletons in the cells. "Desna's delicious derriere! What is going on here?"

Male Gnome Wizard 3 | HP 20/20 | AC 17 T 13 FF 16 | F+2 R+2 W+3 (ALL +2 vs illusions, +2 vs fear and despair) | Perception +7 | Init +7 | CMB -2 | CMD 10

I have both detect and read magic prepared

Rasmorn perks up as Talia hands him the scroll. "Well let's just see here..." He mutters a quick spell, and spends a few seconds studying the scroll. "Hmm, definitely some form of evocation magic" he mutters to himself, as he casts a second spell. His eyes light up a little as it clicks into place. "It can call forth a flaming sphere, strong magic indeed!"

After thoroughly investigating what was once a study or library of some kind, the group turns to the other door. Opening it reveals a set of stairs heading down into another room of some kind. The stench of rotting flesh assaults your nostrils.

Descending the stairs, you come into a larger room with what appear to be fragile wooden trapdoors arranged throughout the center of the room. You can hear faint shuffling sounds coming from the nearest ones.

Of greater import is the nearly human-sized three-armed goblin standing in the middle of the room. He is wielding a glowing longsword, a handaxe, and a silver dagger in each of his three hands, and roars with anger when he sees you.

Knowledge (local) DC 13):

The glowing longsword gives the identity of this goblin away - it is the missing goblin hero of the Seven Tooth tribe Koruvus! His secret cave must have been this complex - but how did he come to be so mutated, and why did he not return to the tribe?

As he says this, he quickly begins chanting, and with a snap of the fingers causes a gnome fighter to appear in the spot 5ft southwest of the gobiln. The small gnomish fighter sticks it's tongue out at the goblin, then brandishes a small sword, holding it out wide inviting the goblin to attack.

There are definitely shuffling noises coming from beneath the wooden squares on the floor, but nothing happens apart from that.

GM Rolls:

Breath Weapon damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
Breath Weapon recharge: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Koruvus takes a deep breath and then spews forth from his mouth a stream of foul-smelling and acidic blood that coats the wooden panel in front of him and the floor beyond that, all the way to cover Laufey and Talia in the grime.

Laufey and Talia each take 4 points of acid damage. A successful reflex save halves the damage (or ignores it if you have Evasion). If you take any damage, you must succeed at a DC 13 Fortitude save, or be nauseated.

Despite the nastiness of the goblin's vomit on her, Laufey resists becoming queasy. It does upset her though, she doubts her clothes will ever be wearable again and she's getting tired of buying new all the time.

She rushes the goblin in anger, threading around the wooden parts of the floor in case they are weak. When she gets to him she goes for his head, wanting payback.

Giving Isabella and Yasu until 3:00 PM EST today to post an action for Round 1, otherwise I will bot them. Rasmorn, please post your Round 2 action.

Round 1
Talia slips past Laufey and takes a shot at the grotesquely deformed Goblin. The bolt flies true, piercing the goblin's hide, but it doesn't seem to slow him much at all.

Yasu moves to get a clear shot then fires one of his large arrows at the goblin.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 6) + 3 = 12

His arrow causes the creature to stumble, although it remains standing.

Isabella steps forward and grants Reymenda's guidance to Laufey.

Her sword comes down and cuts a deep gash in its neck, blood freely flowing. Still, somehow, the goblin stands.
