Starting more goblin mayhem soon! Here's the Pregens!
GM Paladin |
Looks like that's everyone! I ran this on Free RPG day and had a blast, so I hope you guys will enjoy it! I'll get it started tonight.

Please use your aliases that you used before so I remember who is who, and make sure to put the stats from the pregen file into your profile and status line.
You are goblins of the Licktoad Tribe. Or at least you will be someday. For now, though, you're whelps -- ravenous, amoral, grumpy goblin children who learned to stop eating rocks only a few months ago. But with every day that passes, your whelping cage seems smaller and smaller. The outside world increasingly beckons to your goblin curiosity (and appetite), but the hateful cage bars hold you at bay.
A few other whelps flourish in the cage, even as the smaller and weaker ones are thinned out. Kettlehead stands literally head and shoulders above the competition, being a goblin of impeccable flatulence and having already fashioned himself an impressive hat from a teapot left lying too close to the cages. Even adult goblins -- legendary Chief Rendwattle Gutwad among them -- have taken note of Kettlehead and his advanced skills of poking the rest of you with sticks and delivering bruise-inducing noogies.
But today is special. Today, instead of a bucket of fish heads, whelp-wrangler Loptop brought a key and unlocked the door to your cage, spilling you sorry lot into the world for the first time. Other Licktoads gather around, eyeballing you and chewing on the fish heads that should have been yours. "You all are too big for cages," Loptop snorts. "But you're not Licktoads yet. Licktoads gotta be useful! Licktoads gotta be tough! Licktoads gotta earn their places in the tribe. And that's what you're gonna do now! Show us where you belong, even if that ends being the boneyard!"
GM Paladin |
"Bah, every goblin knows fire burns. You gotta show us you good at other stuff! You show us you good at something, you get badge to show it off!"
Loptop shows you the first challenge: Animal Fiendship.
"Tie leash to spidey! No hurt spidey! No let spidey bite you! Here spidey! Good spidey!" Loptop coaxes a large scarlet spider into a ring of stones. "Who go first?"
To attempt this challenge, you need to try a DC 9 Combat Maneuver check, followed by a successful DC 12 Dexterity check to tie a secure knot.
Greta Bigbadevil |
Greta hopps up and moves forward. "Greta strong, greta good!
Assuming take 10 is not allowed
Looking around with her tiny tongue sticking out Greta takes the leash between her teeth and jumps on the spider
CM: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10 holding it tight before
Dex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6trying to fix a knot, but the spider buckles
Dex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 and buckles
Dex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3and buckles
Dex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18until finally she cansecurly finishing a knot.
With a "HAHA,Greta good holding beasts."
GM Paladin |
Greta tries multiple times to tie the knot. She does such a bad job that the spider bites her three times, and squirms out of her grasp and skitters away after the third failed attempt to tie the leash around its cephalothorax. 3 damage and 1 str damage to Reta.
"Stop it, you scare spidey!" Loptop yells. She coaxes the spider back out from behind its rock. "Who's next?"
Greta fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
spider bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Greta fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
spider bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Greta fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Some Random Goblin |
CMB: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (15) - 2 = 13.
Dexterity: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22.
Acting pretty much like a 'spider whisperer', Chuffy easily ties a leash to the spider.
Almost, you know, like he has a pet spider named Stankrush later down the track...
GM Paladin |
"Good job! You Animal Fiend!" says Loptop, handing Chuffy a scrap of cloth with a spider crudely embroidered on it.
Licktoad badges: each badge is a unique, faintly magic item with one use that will fade within a week or so. They grant accident-prone goblin whelps a few second chances at survival. They can be used by anyone as an immediate action, usually in response to some danger or other special condition.
Animal Fiendship badge: Following a successful attack roll against a creature of the animal type, the user of this licktoad badge increases her damage from that attack by +1d6 points. This extra damage is not doubled on a critical hit. The user can decide to activate this badge after rolling the regular damage for the attack.
Goblins are apparently too stupid to realize that spiders are vermin, not animals, but there you go.
Burna |
"Gonna show all you gobs how good Mogmurch is."
CMB 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5 Ooops, slick spidey
CMB 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (10) - 3 = 7 Another miss
CMB 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (11) - 3 = 8 well, he's bad at this
CMB 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5 He's just making himself look bad, now.
CMB 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (18) - 3 = 15 success!
Dex check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 nope
Dex check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 and success.
Mogmurch is gonna feel pain.
Cartmanbeck's Gob Pregen |
CMB: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (9) - 3 = 6
CMB: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5
CMB: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (15) - 3 = 12
Dex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Goog tries a couple times to grab the spider, then finally is able to get ahold of it and expertly ties the leash around its neck.
GM Paladin |
Mogmurch keeps making the mistake of grabbing the spider by its pedipalps, making it easy for it to try to bite him. However, his quick reflexes are fast enough to jerk his hands back when its fangs get near his fingers. In the end, after three failed attempts to bring it under control, the spider shakes him free and runs behind its rock again, and Loptop has to bring it out once more. The spider's face shows no emotions, but if it did, 'resignation' and 'annoyance' would be written all over it.
No damage to Mogmurch, I rolled very badly on the spider's attack rolls.
Mic Chuffy |
CMB: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 = 14
dex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 If it's an acrobatics's check, then that would be +4
dex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
dex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Mic easily gets ready, but finds it a little hard to get a knot.
GM Paladin |
The spider bites Mic once as the goblin tries to tie a knot, and eventually succeeds. 1 damage and 1 str damage to Mic.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
GM Paladin |
Missed your post, sorry.
The spider bites Goog once, but he seems to be getting a little low on venom. 1 damage to Goog, no str damage.
1d20 ⇒ 11
Poog the Sagacious |
Poog glares at his hated twin brother Poog, knowing he has to beat at least that one goblin. He gets the loop over the spider's head after a couple attempts, but also initially has trouble making the knot secure.
cmb: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (7) - 3 = 4
cmb: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (12) - 3 = 9
dex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
dex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
GM Paladin |
Poog loses his grip once, and then his hand slips while trying to tie a knot. Each time, the spider sinks its fangs into him, but it seems to be quite out of venom. 2 damage but no str damage to Poog.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 141d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
1d20 ⇒ 191d20 ⇒ 12
GM Paladin |
Sorry, had a very busy wednesday!
Loptop gives Poog, Mic, and Goog their own Animal Fiendship badges. Feel free to put the text I had above into your profiles for easy reference.
"Good job you gobs, some of you anyway!"
Further posting later today!
GM Paladin |
"This next challenge be called 'Happy Beat'. We need to see you able to entertain us Licktoads. And nothing more entertaining than whelps hurting themselves! So, you do something funny to hurt yourself and we decide whether it's funny enough to get this badge!"
Each of you must injure yourself in creative ways for the amusement of the onlookers. Describe how you are going to injure yourself, and make it funny! The attempt will do 1d3 nonlethal damage, but I might decide to make it lethal or give a bonus to damage depending on how you describe it. To make sure it's amusing, you need to make a DC 15 Bluff or Charisma check along with the damage, and you get a bonus to this check equal to the damage you receive. You can try again as long as you remain conscious.
Some Random Goblin |
Chuffy climbs up on top of the cages, then takes a running jump, somehow tangling one of his feet in some of the bars, and slams face-first into the side of the whelp-cage.
1d3 ⇒ 1
Bluff: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5.
Cartmanbeck's Gob Pregen |
Goog will shrug, walk over to his brother Poog, and grab ahold of his ear, dragging him into an empty spot. Then he hurls his club straight up in the air, and wrestles with Poog until the club falls and slams into both of them.
damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Charisma: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Greta Bigbadevil |
Remembering her failure with the spider Greta looks for a boulder or log and jumps on it trying to bit and gnash and scratch it, yelling "Bad spider, Greta will beat you all the while!" scratching turning her fingers bloody and bruising her face.
Damage/Bluff: 1d3 ⇒ 21d20 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 + 2 = 17
Poog the Sagacious |
Not liking that Goog had involved him in his own stunt, Poog takes the club that fell on them, then proceeds to slam his finger and toe nails with the club, one at a time.
He then chases after Goog, trying to do the same thing to him.
dmg: 1d3 ⇒ 1
charisma: 1d20 ⇒ 6
GM Paladin |
Unfortunately for Chuffy, most of the Goblins aren't looking at him when he does his stunt. Maybe he can try again.
They laugh at Goog and Greta's antics, but yawn when Poog apparently tries to copy his brother. "Do something different!" Loptop yells.
GM Paladin |
In case it was unclear, Chuffy and Poog can try again to do something amusing, and can continue to try again until they fall unconscious. Mic and Mogmurch are also up -- just because you won a previous badge doesn't stop you from winning another. Goblins don't really understand fairness.
Mic Chuffy |
Mic looks around at everyone else injuring themselves, he goes "Forget this" he turns around and slips.
1d3 ⇒ 1
Burna |
Mogmurch pulls out a little gourd and smashes it on the ground, "Gaze at Mogmurch as he commands the paste to burn." The paste quickly ignites and the wind blows the fire right on him, "Nooo, it burns, the fire disobeys me! AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!' He screams as he rolls and tries to put himself out.
dmg: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Charisma: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
GM Paladin |
Mic's pratfall is not enough to divert the attention away from Chuffy and Mogmurch's antics. The goblins cheer as the two injure themselves for the tribe's amusement.
Don't forget to take a bonus to your checks equal to the amount of damage you do to yourself.
Mic bluff: 1d20 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (15) - 3 + 1 = 13
Poog the Sagacious |
Poog thought he had been doing something different by smashing his finger and toe-nails with the club. But apparently that hadn't worked.
The goblin cleric started pulling out some of his own teeth, still to yawns, and finally set his hair on fire with his spell.

dmg: 1d3 ⇒ 1
charisma: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
dmg: 1d3 ⇒ 3
GM Paladin |
Well, I thought I posted, but the forums must have eaten it! Or maybe I just forgot to hit post. Sorry!
Poog gets a round of laughter and applause as he sets his hair on fire and collapses from the pain.
We'll move on here, though Mic can do another roll if desired.
"That much better!" Loptop says as she hands out badges (to everyone except Mic, unless he does something in another post). She puts Poog's on his unconscious body. Poog will not be able to take part in this challenge unless Goog decides to be nice and heal him.
Happy Beat badge: The user of this licktoad badge gains DR 5/- against a single attack, and is hurled 5 feet away from his attacker in a direction he chooses, landing on his feet. The user may activate this badge after being hit, but before damage is rolled.
"Next challenge is Hurtful Words! You put hot rock in mouth, then think of clever insult and say it without spitting rock out! Spit out rock, you done!"
For this challenge, you put a stone in your mouth that has been heated in a fire to a painful temperature (but not hot enough to actually burn your flesh). A DC 8 Fortitude save is needed to keep it in your mouth for the first round; this DC increases by 1 each subsequent round. You need a DC 14 Intelligence check to think of a clever insult, but if you fail, you can keep trying until you can't bear to hold the hot stone in your mouth anymore and have to spit it out.
Some Random Goblin |
Chuffy pops the hot rock into his mouth as if he did not have a care in the world...
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12.
Int: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14.
...then spits a nasty insult at Loptop, before vomiting the rock into the crowd.
Greta Bigbadevil |
Hearing that Greta thinks quick if anything comes up
int: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 but no luck so she puts the rock in her mouth feeling the pain
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 But the pain does help her and she finds some nice words."You face look dog poop"
int: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Cartmanbeck's Gob Pregen |
Goog looks down at his stupid brother, sighs, and touches him, healing him for CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 hit points.
When Poog wakes up, Goog smacks him on the head lightly. "I healyd you. You healy me now. That how this works."
Once Poog has healed him, Goog grabs one of the hot stones and shoves it into his mouth.
Fort 9: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Fort 10: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (9) + 0 = 9
Fort 11: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Int 14: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
Fort 12: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2
Fort 13: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
Int 14: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
"YOUR HEAD TINY AND YOU SMELL LIKE FLOWERS!" Goog finally screams out, after several attempts.
