GMP-Ishirou |
The Tian man awoke silently and saw two of the sea scorpions uncomfortably near him. The man rose up and swung out of the way, (from K11 to M09), also withdrawing to the pile of equipment. (Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 - 2 = 13, which is higher than SeaScorp4's CMD but not SeaScorp6's CMD+2)
Sting attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
The stinger missed Ishirou, who without a word took in the situation around him on the sand.
GMP-Jask Derindi |
The prisoner mumbled something and opened his eyes to see the same scorpion-lobster things Ishirou had awakened to. With an oath, the middle-aged man scrambled all the way to where the waves where crashing on the beach, wildly looking around him. (K10 to O10) Jask's hands were still manacled, something all of you saw onboard ship in the first few days on the voyage. (Both eurypterids already took their AOOs.)
GMP-Aerys Mavato |
The short-cut ravenhaired half-elf woke slowly, squinting in the bright sunlight, and (Fort save: 1d20 + 4 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 2 - 4 = 15, what do ya know, she made it) quickly stumbled to the beach's edge at the water. There she was loudly and messily sick on all fours from the previous night's alcohol. (Move from K09 to O09)
GM_Pace |
Eurypterids 4, 5, and 6
The remaining sea scorpions, red in color, larger than the first three, and still untouched, are confused by all the motion around them. Two tried to sting the latest passengers who awoke and moved away from them, while Varash's motions to wake the gnome make him the biggest target around. One sea scorpion (#6) makes a move towards the escaped passengers, but Varash's defensive movements attract his attention back to the half-orc.
All three converge on the defensively fighting unarmored half-orc (AC 12), two with full attacks and a flank and one who only attacks once.
Sea Scorp 4
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 2 = 19 Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1 points
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 1 + 2 = 12 Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2 points
Stinger attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 2 = 10
Sea Scorp 5
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5

Stinger attack: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6
Sea Scorp 6
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1 points
The sea scorpions proceed to ravage the half-orc.
(Adriano's turn and then the top of the round again!)
Adriano Fierro |
Adriano whirls towards the Scorpion(#6) that just attacked Varash calling forth the power of fire granted to him by the Dawnflower. He points his outstretched hand that is holding his Holy Symbol. "By the Power of the DawnFlower be cleansed by her Fire."
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 1 - 2 = 8 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Remaining Fire Bolts 6 after this one.

(Shevan, you're first! But you have this round and the next to find a weapon in the pile of equipment.)
GM_Pace |
(You're fine on the poison now, Phillip. You've just still got the temp CON damage.)
SeaScorp5 gets one AOO when Phillip moved in from the surf.
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1 point
Phillip's rapier rakes across the larger sea scorpion, scoring a good strike.
(Shevan still needs to go, then Sasha and Varash are up!)
Phillip Conti |
GM_Pace |
(Times like this, Varash, I miss the optional 3.0 "critical miss" tables. There's something about describing a butter-fingered character's weapon going flying across the battlefield to impale another character that is just too good for words. Needless to say, you missed.)
.
(Hold it....you tried to trip? Looking up the Combat pages....and you did not miss by 10 or more, so you are not knocked prone by your own attempt. Moving on!)
GMP-Gelik Aberwhinge |
"Think, Master Aberwhinge." The gnome said, clasping his injured leg, his back to the pile of gear on the sand. (Fort check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19, he fought off the poison.) "What would a Pathfinder do in this case?" he asked himself. The only response was a particularly vigorous outburst from the half-elf at the surf's edge. Gelik winced at the sound, not daring to look in the woman's direction. "No, not that - that would get you killed." he muttered.
Taking a deep breath, the short gnome began singing a Magmarian song about a knight taking on a monster from the sea. His singing voice was a surprisingly boyish tenor.

GMP-Jask Derindi |
The middle-aged prisoner looked around him, then moved to the closest sea scorpion he saw on the beach (5-foot step from O10 to N10), and knelt down, touching the creature with one manacled hand. Closing his eyes, Jask appeared to concentrate on something.
After a few seconds, he looked up. "They feel where you are through the sand!" Jask called out to the others. "They are also immune to mind-influencing affects! And their tail stinger is poisonous!"
GM_Pace |
Eurypterids 4, 5, and 6
The two sea scorpions on Varash (#4 and #6) each followed him as he retreated, flexing their stinger-tails and brandishing their claws at him. (I'll give Varash the benefit of the doubt and say he is still fighting defensively for AC 12.)
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 points
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 points
Stinger attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Stinger attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
The sea lobster on Phillip (#5) seemed to be particularly agitated at the human that had hurt it.
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Stinger attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Too bad the sea scorpion's attacks proved ineffectual.

(It's been 24 hours, Shevan was still looking for his weapon in the pile of equipment, moving on to the next person in the initiative list.)
(Being sickened while attacking really takes off on your attack and damage points. I wish we had a paladin with the sickening mercy! :P )
GMP-Sasha Nevah |
The redheaded woman loses no time but quickly looks over at the sea scorpions surrounding Varash. (Perception check: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (17) - 4 = 13) She heard the prisoner Jask yell out information on the lobster-colored creatures. Sasha carefully lunged (J8, I9-I11, avoiding any AOOs) opposite one of the sea scorpions (#4), her eyes wild. The woman thrust her masterwork rapier at the center of the lobster-like enemy. "Ha!" she yelled.
1d20 + 6 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 3 - 2 = 27 (Critical threat.)
1d20 + 6 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 3 - 2 = 22 (Confirmed. Take 2x.) Damage: 2d6 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 - 4 = 3 points
The sea scorpion loses most of its tail in Sasha's attack. Sasha giggled as the crustacean hissed in pain.
Phillip Conti |
Phillip will strike, yet again, at Sea Scorp 5, this time, fighting defensively.
Rapier, Attack1d20 + 5 + 2 + 2 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 2 + 2 - 4 - 2 = 18
Rapier, Damage1d6 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 2 = 6
If it drops the beast, Phillip will move to Varash, through L-14 to K13.

Eurypterids 4, 5, and 6
With the half-orc falling away, the two sea scorpions nearest the dropped fighter turn onto the target that most recently harmed them: Sasha. One of the red scorpion-lobsters (#6) maneuvered closer (to J11), while the one with the damaged tail attacked immediately.
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 (Crit threat) 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 (Crit confirmed) Damage: 2d3 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3) + 2 = 6 points
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 points
Claw attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Stinger attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 points
The redhead swore like a sailor when she was struck in her left leg, and gave a scream of rage when a stinger followed. (Fort save: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 2 = 19, no CON loss)
.
The sea scorpion near Phillip (#5) attempts to make a run for it, scuttling towards the surf. (L13 to O13. Phillip gets an AOO.)
(At the bottom of the round with Adriano again.)
GM_Pace |
(Phillip's rapier just barely catches the fleeing crustacean and kills it. (SeaScorp#5))
(Adriano moves as he said. Just remember, that channel positive energy is a 30-foot burst that would also heal the sea scorpions unless you have the feat to exclude them.)

GMP-Sasha Nevah |
Her confidence unshaken by the attacks, Sasha took a five-foot step away from the sea scorpions (to I10) and attacked the undamaged sea scorpion. (#6) "I should've grabbed my kukuri too!" she told herself.
Rapier attack: 1d20 + 6 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 3 - 2 = 27 (Critical threat.) 1d20 + 6 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 3 - 2 = 23 (Confirmed.)
Damage: 2d6 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (1, 6) + 4 - 4 = 7 points
Her masterwork weapon sliced off the other sea scorpion's tail, and the creature hissed as loudly as the other crustacean. "Are you guys good to eat? Cause I'm workin' up an appetite!" Sasha said to all.
GM_Pace |
(Hmm....haven't had to check AOOs this often in quite some time. No AOO for SeaScorp4, if I read the Combat section correctly.)
Phillip finishes off the sea-scorpion Sasha just hit, his own rapier slicing neatly through the exoskeleton. (SeaScorp6 is dead.)
(Varash, care for a Fort save to see if you auto-stabilize?)
Varash Ironskull |
I think it's actually a Con check, as opposed to a Fort save.
OOC: well in this case, con and fort is both +1 for me :)
1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 1 - 2 = 9
GMP-Ishirou |
The silent Tian warrior unsheathed his katana, quickly crossing over to where the dog-sized sea scorpion was inbetween the redhead and the human covered in glimmering substance. (Diagonal move to I10 and K11.)
Taking a leap at the end of his run, the mercenary drove his blade downwards, adding his weight in an unusual move. (SeaScorp4)
Katana attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 2 - 2 = 14
Damage with sneak attack: 1d10 + 3 + 1 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 - 2 + (3) = 9
(SeaScorp4 is dead.)
(The immediate danger is past. You are out of melee now and can act normally.)
Adriano Fierro |
Adriano heads over to Varash calling on the healing power of the Dawnflower on him to bring him back from the land of the dead.
I am going to start by using rebuke death until Varash is up to positive hit points. Then hit him with a cure light. Then he will check the other wounded. Did you want to Roll for the healing?
GM_Pace |
(Due to the propensity of 1s from the dicebot, Adriano, yes, always roll for healing.)
Gelik stops singing and begins to get a good look around him.
Ishirou cleaned off his katana and walked back to the pile of equipment.
Aeyrs stops being sick and falls back on the sand weakly.
Sasha, seeing both sea scorpions dead, begins looking them over with interest, ignoring the slight limp from her leg.
Jask squints up at the sky, finally taking everything in around him.
Everyone begins realizing that they are on a beach on an island.
