Male Human Gamemaster

for Ashana:

Apart from the loud noises coming from the gallery, you hear nothing unusual.

(But if someone comes through one of the doors to the open deck, will you run back to the Captain's hold? Or are you going to explore any on the main deck?)

Female Catfolk Rogue(Scout/Knife master) 1

Ashana:
She might explore but not go to far from the Captain's hold that way she can run and hide if need be. She's not looking to get noticed but her curiosity can't be ignored at the moment lol.

Male Human Gamemaster

Ashana:
Ashana, you finally hear the sound of a door closing to the bow deck. Slow, methodical footsteps are coming your way. First they stop at the bow hold hatch for a few seconds, then the main hatch. Now the footsteps are coming to you.

Everyone else...

You continue eating and drinking for the next hour. The crew starts singing several salty ballads. The food is so good, you cannot be blamed for some gluttony, surely. The ham becomes decimated, revealing the bones, while kabob sticks litter people's plates. No one, especially those at the Captain's table, is surprised when the half-elf Aerys Mavato appears to be too far in her cups and slumps to the table face-first. A few sailors follow her, overcome by their libations and passing out in front of everyone, to the laughter of many. The only item of note is that the Captain, First Mate, and Ieana have not yet joined the festivities. No one has seen the cook, despite some praising his name for the first time in their careers.

The galley grows dark before your eyes, even though the lamps are still fully lit. A few people try to stand from their wooden seats, but their bodies feel so heavy, so sluggish...the noise dies down as several sailors stop singing and laughing and begin to pass out all around you. Some struggle, beginning to shout a different tune, their faces slowly turning to alarm...

(Everyone (but Ashana) give me a Fortitude check! If you want to roleplay, fine, but I'll need that roll before I continue.)

(All abbboooaaaarrrdd the Plot Train! Last call, now leaving the station!)

Male Human Aegis 1

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Phillip starts to get up, but has lost the strength. Instead of standing, he ends up knocking his wine off the table, soon following it to come to rest on the floor.

We tried to start a Serpent's Skull between some of the player's of my regular game, and I ended up almost derailing the plot train by nat 20ing the save. I was like, "That means I don't fall unconscious, right?" in any case, we got through the next encounter and that was the last time we played, over a month ago. We're not picking it up again. Just thought it was interesting to share.

Male Half-Elf (Varisian) Cleric of Sarenrae 1

Fortitude 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Adriano starts to ask a question to Varash when he starts to feel drowsing.

Female Catfolk Rogue(Scout/Knife master) 1

Ashana:

Ashana will try to hide as best as possible and then make for the old.

Stealth check while moving:1d20 ⇒ 13

She can stealth while moving at a -5 because of her silent hunter racial trait which can be found in the advanced playtest pdf.

Male Human Gamemaster

for Ashana:

Ashana, you make it to the hold and disappear down the steps just as the footfalls get closer. You hear the First Mate's voice call out, "Here, kitty. Kitty. Kitty." His voice is wooden, almost monotone, strange. The First Mate continues, almost to himself. "Ieana doesn't like cats. So. Take. Care. Of. The. Cat." A slice of raw beef is tossed down the steps, and then the hatch is closed. You hear the nails being hammered in, as well - locking you into the hold.

(What do you do?)

Male Half-Orc Verdant Sorcerer (1)

ok second try 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

(last time i got 120+1, while awesome, not quite legal)

Female Catfolk Rogue(Scout/Knife master) 1

Spoiler:
She would try to get out of the hold. I don't know if this would work but I'm going to try disable device to unlock the door(I know its nailed shut which is why I'm not sure this works).

Disable Device:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

If that doesn't work she will try to break out one of the port holes and then throw her grappling hook(with her rope tied to it) and try to catch the railing above. If that works she will try climbing out of the hold.

To break open one of the port holes: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 lol you wouldn't be nice and let me use my dex for damage instead of strength would you?

To throw my grappling hook and catch the railing: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Climb check to climb my rope: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Male Human Gamemaster

for Ashana:

Unfortunately, Ashana, as you are working the nails on the shut hatch you hear the sound of the anchor being pulled up and the main sail being unfurled.
A sudden lurch, as if the ship is making a sudden burst of speed along with a turn, throws you starboard.
I can rule you try to make it to a port hole as you stated, but a "12" is too low to open it.

Give me three Dex checks to see if you can get your sea legs with the sudden, ungainly movement of the ship.

Female Catfolk Rogue(Scout/Knife master) 1

Spoiler:
I knew I should have eaten the tainted meat...

dex checks: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 61d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

If I regain my sea legs I'm going to find the first mates cat and make sure she doesn't eat the meat and also make sure she says safe.

Male Human Gamemaster

for Ashana:

Ashana, the first roll was bad enough. Due to the crew rearranging the boxes, several were not stacked correctly. The sailor was coming back, remember? So he was in a hurry. Multiple crates fall on you with the lurching of the ship, and you are knocked out from the blows.

No one hears you in the darkened hold, and the last thing you hear are some shouted commands from above....

Jask Derindi = 1d20 ⇒ 13
Aerys Mavato = 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 2 - 4 = 7

.
for Phillip ONLY:

You awake groggily with the sun in your face. You are on your back, seemingly on sand. You are dressed in your clothes. Something pinches your foot again, so hard it hurts. (Take 1 hp of damage.) Lifting your head, you can see some strange creature nipping at your feet with its pincer experimentally. The creature appears to be some kind of cross between a scorpion and a lobster. Casting a quick glance around the beach, you can see various other survivors unconscious on the sands, and oddly enough, a large stash of gear including your own, piled together. Several other of these strange sea scorpions, some red, some green, are slowly converging on you and the other bodies. One of the sea scorpions is pulling apart someone's backpack.
.
The lobster-scorpion sees you moving and starts, hissing at you before it raises a claw to hit you again.
.
(You are sickened (–2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks).)
.
(Phillip's initiative roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 You need to add your initiative count to your character page.)

.
(Everyone can use the included picture from the book as their waking sight. I have a Google document spreadsheet (here) to show where you are. "Crossed-out" names are unconscious and will be until awakened or your body recovers from the poison. The Google spreadsheet is "open" - you can move your character as needed by logging into Google Documents. We're playing on the honor system with movement!)

for Ashana:

Ashana, you are not on the beach....we will have to roleplay to see where you end up. :)

Male Human Aegis 1

GM Pace:
Seeing that everyone else is still passed out, Phillip will manifest his Astral Suit (Astral Skin form). Benefits Applied: +2 Dex, +10 move speed, Swim Speed 40, Can breathe underwater, and all attacks count as masterwork.

Attack (Kicking from ground):1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Crit confirm:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Damage1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Crit Damage, if applicable1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

All damage is Non-lethal

If it goes down, Phil will then stand up.

Female Catfolk Rogue(Scout/Knife master) 1

Spoiler:
So where am I when I wake up...or do I wake up?

Male Human Gamemaster

for Phillip:

(I don't have the PU:UP book on my work laptop, Phillip, so tell me if manifesting (if that is the right term) your Astral Suit provokes an AOO or not.)

AOO: claw 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4 (it misses)

Your kick lands solidly on the tiny head of the creature, knocking it unconscious on its' back. (Sea Scorp2 is now out and crossed out. This crowd has lots of nat-20s.) There is still a sea scorpion between you and your gear, unless you go all the way around.

Use the Google Excel spreadsheet to move your character, if you want to sign in.

Eurypterids 1, 3 initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Eurypterids 4, 5, and 6 initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Male Human Aegis 1

GM Pace:

It doesn't say it provokes an attack, so I don't believe it does.

I'll go around, to J8, and try to find my rapier.

Male Human Gamemaster

for Phillip:

Phillip, it will take you 1d2 ⇒ 2 rounds to find your rapier. Meanwhile, we are still in melee.
.
Round 2
The sea scorpion in the gear pile keeps tearing into the backpack it has, eating the field rations therein. You notice that at least it isn't your backpack. A few other sea scorpions appear to be getting closer, to the edge of the retreating surf.
.
Round 3
Varash's hand grasps and releases by itself on the sand.
.
Noel gives a low moan from where she is lying on the sand.
.
Sasha, the redhead, tries to throw an arm over her eyes to shield her from the sun above.
.
Philip, you find your rapier.

(Varash and Noel, you may begin to wake up now.)

for Varash and Noel:

You awake groggily with the sun in your face. You are on your back, seemingly on sand. You are dressed in your clothes. You look around to see Phillip standing near a pile of haphazardly thrown stuff. Others, who look like the passengers, are lying around you. Some kind of green creature that appears to be some kind of cross between a scorpion and a lobster is tearing apart someone's backpack out of the pile, strewing trail rations everywhere as it tugs the backpack toward the surf. Other red lobster-scorpions appear to be coming out of the waves near you.

(You are sickened (–2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks).)

(Use the Google spreadsheet and log in to move your character around on the map.)

Male Human Aegis 1

GM Pace and those awake:
Phillip will move around to M7, to try and fend off the scorpion munching on the backpack. Those who are awake, you notice that while Phillip still has the same general shape as he did on the boat, he is coated in a thick, moving substance, although he doesn't seem to be bothered by it.

Attack1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male Human Gamemaster

for Phillip and those awake:

Phillip, you moved in from beyond 5 feet, the sea scorpion gets one AOO.
AOO: claw 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Damage: 1 point
.
As the sea scorpion attacks with its' free claw, scraping your shin, your rapier (make that in your statement next time, in case the Astral Suit has claws) smartly skewers the sea scorpion that was tearing apart the backpack. It is dead (Sea Scorp1).

Varash blinks and sits up, groggily taking in the situation. Looking over the gear pile nearest, he tries to locate his gear, especially his greataxe. (move action)

Otherwise, he tries to focus on the nearest creature (seascorp4), for those watching, a vine shoots out of the half-orc's left hand, and sweeps towards the lobster thing.

verdant bloodline power

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Male Human Gamemaster

for Varash and the awake ones:

(Still in Round 4)
Eurypterids 3 initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Phillip's initiative roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Varash's initiative roll: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16
Eurypterids 4, 5, and 6 initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

(Due to the size of the pile, Varash, locating your greataxe would be a full-round action.)

The reddish sea scorpion's lobster-like tail rises and looks like it is about to lunge to sting you when your hand extrudes the vine. Where the dead green one near the pile of equipment is the size of a cat, this one is more the size of a dog. A greyhound. Your attack (exceeds its' CMD and) knocks it over onto its' back, where it makes furious hissing noises as the surf washes over it. (Sea Scorp4 is considered prone.)

Rapier Damage:1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Phillip shouts "Get up! Protect the supplies!

I'm not really sure that'll be enough to wake anyone up, though.

Male Human Gamemaster

(Hold on, Phillip - you already went on Round 4. We're waiting for Noel to wake up along with Sasha. Then we'll continue with Eurypterids 4, 5, and 6 before going to the top of the list again.)

(Talking is a free action, but please keep it to your turn if you can. No penalty if you need to talk, but it's good to let others use their initiative in order.)

(If Shevan, Adriano, or Tessara can make a 17 or higher with their Perception roll (-2 because you are sickened), I'll let Phillip's shout wake you up.)

Male Human Aegis 1

Female Human Ranger 2D10

for the awake members:

The redhead woke up groggily, looking around in befuddlement. She heard the blond man shout something about waking up. Sasha looked around, seeing the other passengers of the Jenivere lying on a beach, with a pile of weapons and equipment on one side. And several scorpion-like things, three already on the sand, with more coming from the surf. The blond and the half-orc from the ship were the only ones standing, and fighting, the scorpion-like creatures. The redhead got to her feet and stumbled backward before she ran for the equipment pile to look for a weapon (at J8). Her weapon. Any weapon. "Ooooh. Somebody's going to pay for the hangover I've got." she muttered out loud.
.
Sasha takes 1d2 ⇒ 2 rounds to find her rapier.

.
(Noel, you can post any time you like. Andriao, you can wake up, but not before Eurypterids 4, 5, and 6 act on this round. I'm just waiting for Noel to post and Tessara to make her Perception check before going to the bigger Eurypterids and Andriao.)

Male Human Gamemaster

(I'm going to rule that Noel and Tessara continue to sleep, giving them more time. Now for the bigger Eurypterids and then Andriao.)

Eurypterids 4, 5, and 6

for the awake ones:

The sea scorpion that Varash flipped over (SeaScorp4) righted itself, hissing angrily, and rushed Phillip (who gets an AOO, but his previous post counts). Phillip faced the scorpion-like creature with his rapier, but the thin blade glanced off of the crustacean's exoskeleton. The sea scorpion's stinger tail flexed, and the tip jabbed at Phillip's legs.
Stinger attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 (Remember, a "match" of attack vs. defense AC means it hit)
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3 plus a Fort save against poison
.
Another sea scorpion (SeaScorp5), fresh from the surf, hears the agitated hissing of the other sea scorpion and moves quickly to attack the closest target, aka Phillip. Moving closer (to get a flank! At N11. After all, Phillip used up his only AOO), the red lobster-scorpion uses both claws on the offending humanoid.
Claw attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Claw attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

The second lobster's claws hit the shimmering, fluid-like substance covering Phillip and glance harmlessly off.

A third larger, reddish sea scorpion (SeaScorp6) clears the retreating surf and moves behind the other two scorpions, slipping in to the right of the offended, hissing scorpion calling for help (to M9), inadvertently ignoring the half-orc Varash (who gets an AOO). (SeaScorp6 has moved too much to attack Phillip at the end of its' move.)

.
(Andriao, you can wake up and act before the end of the round. You are sickened (–2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.).)

Male Half-Elf (Varisian) Cleric of Sarenrae 1

Adriano wakes up disoriented trying to get his bearing as he notices the giant scorpions attacking the party. He calls upon the power of the Dawnflower to Bless his his allies. He yells out as he casts

Fort Save1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Forgot a small part of the post, GM Pace. Look again.

Male Human Gamemaster

for Phillip and those awake:

(So, Phillip wants to use Acrobatics to move through several threatened squares without provoking AOOs from several foes. Let's see if he can pull it off.)

Phillip moves from N10 to O09. Sea Scorp6, 5, and 3 all get an AOO. Phillip's Acrobatics check is higher than the eurypterids' individual CMD, so he is successful.

Phillip moves from O09 to P09, so Sea Scorp4 gets an AOO. Alas, its' CMD is again beat by Phillip's Acrobatics check, so that eurypterid misses too.

Hmm...in the future, I think I'll have people roll a separate Acrobatics check for each threatened square they move through. Phillip's speed should also have been reduced by half, but if he double-moved it's all right.

Phillip loses 1d2 ⇒ 2 CON due to the poison.

(Now the board is interpreting my "period dots" used to separate paragraphs as "close spoiler". Just terrific. Varash is up, along with a previous AOO against Sea Scorp6 if he wishes to backtrack.)

Male Human Aegis 1

I forgot to post a link, but I withdrew. I'm not sure if the edit came up for you, the boards don't like edits. I used a full-round action to withdraw.

I edited that in because I forgot to specify it. The only one that should have gotten an AoO was Scorp4, otherwise, I would have put in multiple checks. It doesn't really matter too much, as I apparently passed them all, but I'm just making sure you know. Also, the DC for using Acrobatics to bypass more than 1 creature increases by 2 for every additional creature, IIRC.

Male Half-Orc Verdant Sorcerer (1)

Varash attempts to focus through the nausea, as he casts color spray trying to get the three nearest in the cone of flashing color. Backing up, he runs trying to get three of the unconscious people up, with a gentle kick as he passes, and yells, "wake up, we're being attacked!"

OOC: not taking an AOO as i am not armed, and thus do not threaten.

Male Human Gamemaster

for Varash and those awake:

(Varash, casting a spell (1 standard action casting time) provokes an AOO, the Combat section of the PRD says so. But SeaScorp6 moved too much on its' turn, so it doesn't get an AOO.
.
(Color spray. No harm in telling you all the eurypterids are less than 2 HD, you can figure that part out. Unfortunately, the sea scorpions are located in such a way that you can only get two of them with the 15-foot cone. There's also a stipulation under the "School" entry that you didn't know about with these dull-witted, instinct-driven lobsters.)
.
The two red sea scorpions that Varash's multicolored spray washes over (SeaScorp6 and 4) blink and look around themselves, immune to the mind-affecting arcane spell. When Varash retreated, the lobster-like crustaceans followed, going inbetween the inattentive sleepers on the sand, making angry clicks at their new target. Only one of the sea scorpions (Sea Scorp5) was fast enough to attack the half-orc as he passed by the gnome passenger.
.
Stinger attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

The sea scorpion missed Varash.

(Aerys, Jask, and Ishiro begin to stir. Shevan, you may make another DC 17 Perception check. Adriano's turn!)

Shevan attempts to wake from the beautiful dream he is having...Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 ...and apparently it is much too good to worry about such things as scorpion lobster things.

Male Half-Elf (Varisian) Cleric of Sarenrae 1

Shevan, it takes you 1d2 ⇒ 2 rounds to find anything that you can use as a weapon.

Stinger attack: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Phillip, make another Fortitude check, the poison is still in your system.

(Varash is up, then a bunch of NPCs and more sea scorpions before Adriano. Don't forget the Bless in effect!)
.
(Edit: Phillip, you made your save, and you have also fought off the poison so you don't have to keep making Fort saves. But keep the damage done already.)

Male Gnome Bard 2D8

"Stop shouting, it's like a Chelish fishmarket in here." Gelik complained, getting up off the sand. Then he saw the red sea scorpion giving him a full look. "Aaaiiieee!" the gnome cried out, quickly backpedaling out of the way, tripping over the comatose Noel and not stopping until he hit the pile of gear. (Combat withdrawal from L12 to L09 on the map.)

The scorpion, distracted by Gelik's shout, tried to sting him as the gnome backpedaled.
Sting attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

"OW!" the gnome half-screamed, ending in a curse. (Fort save: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 - 2 = 5) Gelik loses 1d2 ⇒ 2 CON as well.)
