Back from vacation! Let's resume this forthwith! :)
Mohag is able to keep following the trail downstairs.
The stairs end in a damp room with several deteriorating doors, each decorated with the winged eye of Aroden. A once-imposing set of double doors stands slightly ajar across from the stairs. Another staircase on the western wall once led deeper below the city, but its ceiling has collapsed, blocking further passage.
Mohag spots the more recent trail of rat-like tracks going east through the slightly ajar double doors.
Vello Tiskan |
"Hmm... lets follow the tracks. Its nest or goal seems to be beyond the eastern door."
Vello approaches the eastern double doors carefully.
Sir Durant Aumarideth |
Sir Durant moves up, following just behind Vello, but ready to spring forward if these rat-like beings should prove dangerous.
GM PDK |
Barid agrees and follows, sticking to the more heavily shadowed portions while following his fellow agents.

GM PDK |
You enter the next room beyond the double doors:
At the north end of this long room,
a statue of a winged eye adorns
a simple stone altar. Open pits of
various sizes riddle the floor. A pair
of stone doors hangs into each of
the pits, with a texture similar to
that of the surrounding ground.
As Vello and Otto peak beyond the corner to look north, they both avoid a series of small dagger strikes aimed at their bellies!

COMBAT OVER
I'll let you decide if you kill, heal, detain, etc. Regardless, you learn the following:
The boss, a ratfolk named Bikka, carried the shiny bust in her backpack as you all expected. Her allies carried the other stolen relics, which include a set of embossed bronze offering bowls, a string of prayer beads made of silver, and a collection of holy symbols of Aroden from different regions of Golarion.
In the room to the south, you find twelve narrow pillars reach from floor to ceiling in this large chamber, each depicting a man engaging in a different profession. In one pillar, a man proudly displays a large fish, while in another, a man tends to a field of wheat. etc.
Anyone versed in religion or history recognizes the significance on the images on the pillars. They depict the twelve guises that Aroden once used to walk the world: beggar, thief, fisherman, hunter, shepherd, farmer, soldier, merchant, tailor, craftsman, artist, and scholar.
On your way back upstairs, Brother Valicus is waiting for you. He does not press you about the remaining relics, but you note that he notices them with some relief and a sense of polite hope. What do you do with the Arodenite relics?
Thanks to your defeat of the ratfolk gang, Remaio has all the evidence he needs to convince the Arodenites that Honaria’s bust wasn’t safe in the basilica, and Brother Valicus allows Remaio to take it without protest. Remaio thanks you all and takes you out to a fine dinner in town... Oppara is a splendid city this time of year! Feel free to provide a post of RP nature to describe your character's accoutrement, behaviour and how he enjoys himself in fancy places! :)
Otto Boulderspine |
Otto looks to his companions "It's bad luck ta take stuff that's not yours unless you sunk it first. Recaptured booty should go back."
---
Otto enjoys an evening of indulgence, ordering expensive wine and other fancy treats.
He is not well behaved, and is a sloppy drunk.
Mohag the Wanderer |
"Yes, we should return the relics of Aroden to his faithful."
Mohag's traveling clothes, while not fancy or stylish, are clean and well-made in an Ulfen style. He enjoys the evening in Oppara, politely answering questions from the locals and responding with curiosity of his own.
Mohag is perhaps more serene and less aggressive than they would have expected. If pressed on this, he will acknowledge that he was not always so, but an encounter with a Lastwall cavalier changed the course of his life and opened his eyes.
Sir Durant Aumarideth |
"Thank you, Brother Valicus," Durant says to the priest, "I believe you serve faithfully to surrender this one artifact to the descendant of the one it honors. But please, do be careful with the rest of these. Perhaps you could bring on some security details to help drive out any remaining ratfolk. I hear the Pathfinder Society is useful for providing such services from time to time."
---
Before Remaio takes them out on the town, Sir Durant begs some time to clean himself up. Unfortunately, he left behind his more refined attire, but at the very least he could shine up his gear and get some of the cobwebs and dust of the temple's lower levels off of his clothes.
"You are very kind to treat us so, Master Alcasti," the knight says to his host after taking a measured sip of wine. This has been the norm for Sir Durant throughout the evening: he appears to be familiar with courtly customs, but it is apparent that it is not his natural state, as if he came into his dignified position only later in life. Despite his awkwardness, however, he goes on speaking with the Taldan noble, "It is a sign of a great man to reward one's laborers beyond their normal wages. Speaking of our labors, could you tell us more about your quest to restore your ancestor's honor? It is a noble one, from all that I have seen and heard thus far, but my mind reels to think of what might have caused her fall from grace in the first place."
