I really can't add much else to the discussion at this point. It's a shame to lose you and this game has been a great deal of fun, but hopefully we'll have a chance to try again at some point.

You never know what you'll get unless you ask...
TL/DR: The new IT guy is a gamer and gladly unblocked the Paizo site for me, and invited me to game with them on the weekends.
Game is back on.
Andrej Bulavin |
Amazing! I have no such hope for my work, since we have an entire IT support division and a process in place for requesting exceptions to the block list--as far as I know, there's no one person I can talk to.
I've caught up, and made a couple of purchases--cold iron & silver pistol ammunition and daggers. Any chance of getting a spring-loaded dagger sheath for a quick draw?
Shall I just have Andrej return from the last setback to his recovery, finally having been convinced that he shouldn't get up as soon as he feels a little better?

I'm honestly not that surprised. A lot of IT people I know/know of are on the geeky/nerdy/your-word-of-choice end of the spectrum, so it's not that odd to me to hear that you had a stroke of good luck there. That said, it is indeed good luck and happy times, and I'm very glad we can continue this! (And glad that you got an invite to a group, which is always a nice deal!)
Rasheed Singh |
I will post later todqy, as this was one of the dots I lost during the recent Paizo breakdown.
It was a work of luck that I even discovered the good news, as mobile layout for Paizo is awful and I missclicked in here.
Also, as an IT monkey I can totally confirm that we usually fall on the nerd spectrum. Which is nice because you never run out of geek buddies if you swap jobs.
Also echoing the joy of your invitation to a new group, but heed my advice: tread carefully, as IT monkeys are strange creatures. Don't make loud noises if they aren't aware of your presence, don't bring bright lightsources as our eyes are accostumed to the brightness of Lord C'omp Uth Er and never ever mention the Dreaded Assembly, three times damned be his bones!
Also bring snacks, we love snacks.
Andrej Bulavin |
I'll be scarce Saturday and most of Sunday--we have a bunch of people coming over late afternoon, and I'm going to be cooking a lot. Right now the house smells of chilies; I roasted ten poblanos in the oven, skinned and seeded them as best I could, roasted a couple of pounds of tomatilloes, and made a bunch of salsa verde. More different kinds of chili tomorrow, along with lentils, feijoada, macquechoux, and cold sesame noodles (for Lunar New Year).
Andrej Bulavin |
Ok. If you are Breaking and Entering we will treat that as a Dramatic Task. It's Stealth, Agility and Streetwise rolls at-2.
Victoria, are we up for this? Andrej would be making d8-2 (Agility), d6-2 (Stealth), and d4-2-2 (Streetwise) checks, and the downside of failure seems high given our Statuses.
Victoria Lawson |
I've got a d8 in Agility and Stealth, with a d6 in Streetwise... if you want, Victoria can handle the breaking and entering, Andrej could function as a lookout of some sort for police or anyone else that might be coming by? I dunno if Niles would want you to roll something separate to do that, though. If you'd rather plan out an alternative course of action, I'm all ears.
GM Niles |
Sure. There's usually several Rippers available at any given time that are staying in the Lodge.
PS: I'd like to get this wrapped up soon because everyone else is waiting on it.
Victoria Lawson |
Why don't we head back to the Lodge and ask for advice, we can break in the next night or something like that? That lets the other part of the party move along where they're at, and we can talk with some fellow Rippers and see if they have any ideas. That seems like a potentially better solution for the moment.
Victoria Lawson |
Andrej, have you been tracking your favors? I believe I have three but I'm going to double-check just in case when I get out of class later today. If we have enough combined I'd suggest we at least spend enough to negate our penalties. Also, I think we can only spend 2 at a time due to our Status, but that may be waived here? Not sure.
Also, Niles, I'm a little confused on something. 2 Favors negates a -1, but you said we can spend four to get a +2? I'm assuming you're referring to each of us spending four for a total of eight, I just want to make sure I'm understanding that right.
GM Niles |
Each 2 spent by either party gives a +1 to the roll.
Example:
Victoria spends 4
Andrej spends 2
Total=+1

Oi Niles!
First I apologize beforehand if Rasheed using romani words and 'customs' what a bit too much.
I thought from the start to give him small knowledge of varied cultures gained during his travel from India to London, mostly tidbits and customs so he remains polite and formal throughout the countries he visit.
That said, I ave just realised it could have involved some kind of knowledge roll, and for that I apologize.
Rasheed Singh |
@Mei: I am a defender of retiring characters if the need arise or the amusement dwindles. That's why I will only say: I am excited to know what's next!
@The rest: Had to trust the crone... I'm a loser for wise elders in a position of leadership, and Rasheed is quite the optimistic. But I apologize for doing it unilaterally.
That said, let's start the bets!
5 pounds say I have just told who we are to an evil witch.
Rasheed Singh |
Gotta say, Tristan, I didn't knew about Sardar but I do like the sound of it.
Good catch. Also, Rasheed smiles and waits for Watt's response in case I can't get to post later today.
GM Niles |
Hello everyone,
I'm taking my family to Disney World from Feb 24th to March 4th. During that time my posting may be sparse, I'll try to post from the hotel at night but I can make no promises. If this is a game in which I am a player do not hesitate to bot me if you need to. If this is a game in which I am the GM, please bear with me for the next couple weeks.
Thanks,
Niles
Victoria Lawson |
Does everyone else think it's a good plan to head over there and try to talk with Swineburne? We know he's there and we've spoken with Master Watts, so we can probably make our way in and figure out what's going on. I'm cool with that if everyone else is. That way we can wrap up this plot point and move on to the real juicy stuff that is the main plot.
Victoria Lawson |
I dunno if people will see this at all, but I've noticed that both myself and some other players in games I'm running have lost their dots on... pretty much every game they're in. I'm not sure why it happened, but I recommend checking all the games you're in and potentially shooting a message to your players if you don't hear from them at all. I figured I'd throw this out there to make people aware if they missed this or something like that.
GM Niles |
Yeah, I don't see the little (6 Unread Posts) thing anymore. I still have dots, and I can still see which threads have new posts due to shading.
Victoria Lawson |
My apologies for the... escalation here, but I feel like Victoria would interpret this as a slight by Swineburne. Given her already somewhat violent temper and her Vengeful hindrance, I didn't see how Victoria would stand idly by and just give up on Swineburne when he dismissed the diplomatic option. I know this could potentially cause us some problems in the future, but if I hadn't done it I'd feel like I wasn't playing to her hindrance.
Rasheed Singh |
Hey guys, I need to apologize.
I've been absent for more than two weeks and 51 posts and it's noone's fault but me.
As some of you may know if you are in ajy of the other games I'm in, I had a roigh time because I got kicked out of home and had to aolve it, and it took me the best part of two weeks to catch up with every game.
That coupled with Paizo's recent mo updates failure made me completely overlook this game and that has no excuse as I should have put more effort and attention.
I can only offer you my most sincere apologies and start reading the posts so I can at least get back on track.
Once again, sorry.
Victoria Lawson |
Tristan and I are going to work on a co-written adventure for our characters to find some artifact. It may be easier for us to throw it up on one post, we'll have to see, but we're both working on it. Victoria is going to take Tristan slumming. We haven't decided what to find, though. In terms of some sort of weapon or what have you, how powerful should/could we make it? You mention not game breaking, but I guess I'd just like a but more direction with that.
Also, is there enough time that Victoria can talk with Carl again and regain her last missing point of Reason?
GM Niles |
Ideally the "treasure" would be something along the lines of
-A seasoned extra that tags along with a Ripper and gives them help
-An item that grants benefits similar to a published Edge(of seasoned rank).
-Rippertech to the tune of ~2 Reason
-A Weird Science item that grants novice/seasoned powers
-An Artifact (Holy or otherwise) that grants novice/seasoned powers
