GM Niles |
Lyle stalks forward barely making any noise, he gets to the door and cracks it open
Three large stone sarcophagi stand within a dusty crypt, and propped against each sarcophagus is a human skeleton clad in rusty bits of mail. False columns line the wall carved into the image of oak trees.
Lyle Twigstep |
Lyle frowns, going back to the group and waving them in.
"Well, it's a crypt. Sarcophagi. I'd prefer some heavies at my back in case there's something undead in here."
Hurrying back, Lyle explores the room.
Perceptoin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Morgran Frostbeard |
Morgran moves up with Lyle to the new room, returning his javelin to its straps and withdrawing the warhammer.
"Well lets keeps the dead where they belong shall we."
Duncan should be moving with Lyle as well Niles - moved him up with Lyle, not sure how often he'll be able to post this week
Andrei Brightblade |
I am not one for grave robbing - if there is an undead creature that is needing rest then that's one thing but if there is no disturbance? Let the dead lie in peace. Andrei moves up sword in hand at the ready.
GM Niles |
If you guys could make sure that your Passive Perception score is somewhere on the profile bar that would be awesome.
Morgran moves forward to assist Lyle, and he steps right onto a trap! It specifically says 100LBS or more...I figured Lyle was more like 50
Dex Saving: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19 miraculously Morgran grabs hold of the ledge and doesn't fall 20' into the pit. Marked with an X
Now for anyone to cross the hole it is a DC 10(Dexterity) Acrobatics check. If you fail that check, its a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or you fall into the pit.
To make matters worse....the skeletons have decided to get up.
Bec: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Andrei: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Morgran: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

Morgran Frostbeard |
added to "saves" spoiler in header, thanks for the roll btw
"Argh! watch that first step guys, of course you guys would get up now."
Lyle Twigstep |
"Oh COME ON!" he turns accusingly to Morgran crawling out of the hole. "This is what happens when you're four times the weight of a decent size!"
Seeing himself at the front of the party and with a giant pit separating him from the others, Lyle promptly turns invisible.
"Clerics are really good at killing skeletons, right? I'm sure this will work out."
Casting invisibility and moving into the room.
GM Niles |
Round 1
Lyle goes invisible and hides
The Skeletons promptly surround Morgran and attack him with clawed fists! 3d20 ⇒ (20, 8, 19) = 47 +4 the Cleric is battered for 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) + 4 = 16

Morgran Frostbeard |
Did all three attacks hit? Looks like damage was rolled for all three...
Turning his shield towards the skeletons "In Torag's name begone! Return to your resting place"
Turn Undead: undead within 30' must make DC13 wisdom saving throw or spend turn running from the cleric, not stopping until at least 30' away
Duncan Esteros |
Just wanted to ask about this action before I tried it. I want Duncan to leap across the pit and attack the red skeleton. By spend 1 ki point he can double his jump distance (16 feet) and then combine it with an attack (2 unarmed attacks). Upon landing he will need to make a DC-10 acrobatics roll for landing in difficult terrain. Does that sound doable to you? Not sure if such a move would force the skeleton back into the one behind it, or what might happen....
Here are the rolls just in case he can do it!! Also still having eye problems, but will try to keep up with posting!
Attacks: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Attacks: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Acrobatic roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
GM Niles |
@Morgran, one of the attacks was a critical because it was a 20. So its 3d6 and then +2 for each attack. Each attack does 1d6+2 but the critical doubles to 2d6. @Duncan, I like the move, but I think that would be an athletics roll for a combat maneuver. I'll take your first attack and make it a shove combat maneuver.
Round 1
Lyle goes invisible and hides
The Skeletons promptly surround Morgran and attack him with clawed fists! the Cleric is battered for 16
Andrei moves close to the pit
Bec moves behind Andrei
Duncan leaps forward and roughly shoves the skeleton forward STRsave: 1d20 ⇒ 17 it crashes into the skeleton behind it and both skeletons stagger backward. Duncan then launches a kick and snaps a few rib bones off the undead horror.
Morgran raises his holy symbol and Wissave: 4d20 ⇒ (1, 17, 15, 19) = 52-1 only one of the skeletons is affected...Morgran moves up making room behind him.

Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Edit: Removing the channel energy as its not against the one I thought I was attacking
Lyle Twigstep |
I think I get advantage doing this? If not ignore the second die roll ;)
Lyle creeps up behind the skeleton, and then immediately appears behind it, stabbing out with his rapier!
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Andrei Brightblade |
If its being flanked or attacked by another ally you also get sneak attack - undead are not immune to sneak attack in 5E I believe
GM Niles |
Sorry! I thought I updated this one!

"Morgran swings hard, but his aim is off." I read it as 'Morgran swings hard, but his arm comes off!!' I blame my near blindness for it!! LOL
Morgran Frostbeard |
Morgran nods thanks to Lyle for his quick blade work. "Seemed these fellows here had an aversion to the clergy..."
Shaking his head he expends a spell to heal the damage created by the creatures.
cure wounds: 1d8 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 3 = 13
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Morgran is consumed with healing his damage for the moment and doesn't notice anything. "Should we check the Sarcophagi? They failed to stay at rest Andrei."
Andrei Brightblade |
Mogran, do you need additional healing?
Can lay on hands
Andrei nods agreement to Mograns comment and starts checking the coffins.
GM Niles |
AcrobaticsBec: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Bec easily makes it over the pit. Morgran heals himself.
Andrei Brightblade |
Did not see the comment of "Something to the north until now
Andrei goes on guard and watches for additional skeletons or bandits, his keen ears hungering for hints of what is coming. He moves to flank the door to the north.
Morgran Frostbeard |
Yeah I hadn't seen Duncan's post either, we were posting around the same time, was working on the theory Morgran didn't know anything different
**edit** Hearing Duncan's admonishment to be quiet, Morgran settles behind his shield with handaxe ready.
@Duncan, too funny with that miss he might have thought he lost an arm too! Hope recovery is going well
Lyle Twigstep |
Wincing at his own minor wound, Lyle inspects the sarcophagi, and also the room in general for signs of use.
"I wonder if the mercenaries just avoided this room because of the undead. I'm astonished they used this place yet didn't kill the skeletons or cover up the pit or something."
GM Niles |

Vicious mockery on Blue - DC 13 will save or next attack is at disadvantage. As a swift action Lyle will also use cutting words on Green, -1d6 to his next attack.
