Thanephos will take advantage of his line of sight to the half-orc, firing an arrow filled with arcane energy.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
If he moved somewhere, which is what gave us line of sight, then that would have set off my readied action, right?

Correct.

And @ Joneth, the only way down is to jump.

Wasting no time in joining his companions, Joneth moves quickly and jumps down into the area below. As soon as his feet touch the ground, the magus strikes at the half-orc with his curved sword. The blow seems as if it is going to miss, yet at the last moment it connects as the silver-haired man almost instinctively taps into his newfound and apparently divinely granted power and uses it to augment his attack.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Melee attack (katana): 1d20 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (11) + 3 + (3) = 17
Damage (slashing): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Expending 1 mythic power point to use Surge as an immediate action and add 1d6 to the attack roll (already factored in above).

F

is there room to jump down?

Between Thanephos' readied arrow and Joneth's cinematic slice, Thanephos' second arrow is enough to bring the hulking half Orc to the ground.

Congratulations on removing a dangerous bandit from the area. Enjoy level 2! (Character level, not mythic tier).

Barely standing, Ty coughs blood and winces in pain. He places his hand on the axe wound on his side and prays to Arqueros for aid.

Having dispatched the half-orc, you can easily set the ladder up again. Down below, the tunnel heads south until it arrives in a central area which you guess is central to the three towers. Tunnels branch off east and west towards the other two towers.

In the central area, piles of loot line the walls. Several crates and barrels contain various trade goods, textiles, iron work, etc., and are each labeled with the sign and sigil of one Absalom merchant or another. There are several sacks of coin, each bound with the wax seal of a middling member of the Absalom nobility.

In a smaller pile, good without identification include: a suit of MW studded leather armour, a MW kukri, a MW backpack, and a leather and ivory scroll case with three scrolls inside.

On the half-orc, you find: a MW greataxe, a suit of MW studded leather armour, a MW composite longbow (mighty +2), 3 potions, 3 smokesticks, 2 thunderstones, and a small brass key.

Each of the bandit's you captured or killed (5 of them) had: a longsword, studded leather armour, a really badly-made bow, cheap arrows, and sacks of 20 sp. Upstairs in the north tower, you find a decent mattress on the floor, along with a couple piles of filthy blankets, and a locked chest.

Interestingly, none of you possess Disable Device, at least, not at first level. Fortunately, the half-orc's key is for this chest.

Inside the chest, you find: a pouch of amethysts, 2 durable adamantine arrows, a wand, and a pouch of money containing 135 gp, 249 sp, and 300 cp.

As per an earlier questions, you are only about a 40 minute walk back to the city if you wish to conduct business there before continuing on to the Citadel. It is just shy of lunch time.

Just as a book-keeping thing, returning to Absalom to deal with treasure and the bandit would help get rid of Athar. I'm good with continuing on with only five players.

Also, I need to know what you intend to do with the stolen goods you found below: leave them, return them, sell them, etc.

Aasimar Unchained Rogue 4/Mythic Trickster 2 ~ AC 22 (t 15, ff 13) | F+3, R+10, W+3 | Init +9 | Per +8 | MP: 6/9 | HP 45/47

Ty will want to return the items that have a brand at the very least. He's fine with the group keeping any of the weapons and armor used by the bandits. And despite Ty's earlier insistance that we keep going, I'm fine with going back so that we can housekeep Athar. Perhaps he can return any loot that we agree to return for us.

M Human Arcane Duelist Bard 3, Marshal 1 (HP 17/28 | AC:19| T:14 | FF:15 | CMB: 4 | CMD:18 | Fort:+3 | Ref:+8 | Will:+4| Init:+8 | Perc:+6 | Speed 30)

Thanephos would personally advocate for selling anything that could be worth something, since that gold will help the group on their quest. He would be fine with returning to town to do so.

F

How many bandits are still alive?

Two bandits, including the one you captured, but not including the one that escaped.

Image for Daniel Aasimar Only son of Alaryn Rose. While his constant furrowed brow gives him the appearance of a serious and harsh man, he is actually an extremely sincere, kind idealist. He always speaks of hope and a brighter tomorrow.

I need to level up, I'll take the two arrows. Anything with labels should be returned. Everything is fair game.

So we have two votes to return the identifiable stolen merchandise (Daniel and Ty), one for selling it (Thanephos), and two yet to weigh in (Alexis and Joneth).

Well, if the merchants to whom the stuff belonged to can be found, it is the nice thing to do to return their stolen merchandise. If not, then they are fair game, I suppose. Besides, they may even reward us. Heh heh heh...

So with three votes for returning it all...

It takes most of the day, but you are able to track down the merchants and minor nobles in question. Conversations that start of stiff and suspicious, change to surprised, and then elated and astonished at your show of integrity.

By the end of the day, your group is 3000gp richer from rewards.

Do you wish to sell any of the gear you found? If so, add half its market value to the coin you found plus the 3,000 reward money.

If you'd like to roll the dice, you can try a Diplomacy roll: a check of 20+ gets you 60% market value, a 15-19 gets you 50%, and less than a 15 gets you 40% (and no taking 10). Or, you can just take the flat 50%.

diplo: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 can you use surge on diplomacy? Iirc I get 4 for cha, 5 for ranks+class skill, 2 for race.

surge: 1d6 ⇒ 6 (if applicable.)

Wouldn't need surge. 21 is enough to get 60% of whatever you try to sell.

I assume the great axe would be on the selling block. Anything else?

F

What is the wand?

arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
well I know nothing. we could get someone to identify it.

I vote putting forward all of the bandit gear (save the bows and arrows,) on the sell table with the two amythests as well as selling the mwk leather (unless one of our lighter armored fellows wishes to take it/them) and the bow, unless as before, one of our stronger memebers wishes to take it.

Thanephos can use the composite longbow, so he'll probably want that.

M Human Arcane Duelist Bard 3, Marshal 1 (HP 17/28 | AC:19| T:14 | FF:15 | CMB: 4 | CMD:18 | Fort:+3 | Ref:+8 | Will:+4| Init:+8 | Perc:+6 | Speed 30)

Whoops, I didn't even see that. Thanephos really wants that!

Here's how I'm seeing the loot going:

Sell:
2 x MW Studded Leather
MW kukri
MW backpack
leather and ivory scroll case
MW greataxe
5 x longswords
5 x studded leather armor
5 x cheap bows
all the cheap arrows
pouch of amethysts

Keep:
3 smokestics - at least 1 to Ty; anybody else want one?
2 thunderstones3 smokestics - at least 1 to Ty; anybody else want one?

Keep, at least until we identify:
3 scrolls
3 potions
wand

Give to Thanephos:
MW composite longbo (mighty +2)

Give to Daniel:
2 x adamantine arrows

Alexis might want to look at a suit of the armour and the MW kukri.

F

I would love the masterwork weapon, stupid spell check on my phone suckd, but I cannot carry the armor with my 11 strenght and happy to have a smoke stick if no one else wants one

The MW backpack would give you the carrying capacity of someone with a 12 Strength instead of 11 (or anyone else at +1 Strength).

Unless I am mistaken, Joneth can try to identify the scrolls, the potions and the wand as he has both Spellcraft and the detect magic cantrip memorized, right? So, here goes...

Spellcraft (Scroll 1): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Spellcraft (Scroll 2): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Spellcraft (Scroll 3): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Spellcraft (Potion 1): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Spellcraft (Potion 2): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Spellcraft (Potion 3): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Spellcraft (Wand): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

F

everyone fails at the wand!

F

Ok I apparently failed at math before. Is there any objections to me taking the mwk studded leather armor and the mwk backpack?

Nope, none at all. Nobody seemed against them being sold, so I don't see anyone being against them being used.

So when you gather at the Seventh Church the next morning to head back to the Citadel, you find two notes from Athar and Joneth. Athar apologizes for leaving you, but cites a family emergency back in Rahadoum, and he had to leave on the next available ship. Joneth's note is cryptic, about "something came up, and good luck".

I say everyone should purchase a horse, in order to make up for lost time. Perhaps a pack horse as well. Does everyone agree?

M Human Arcane Duelist Bard 3, Marshal 1 (HP 17/28 | AC:19| T:14 | FF:15 | CMB: 4 | CMD:18 | Fort:+3 | Ref:+8 | Will:+4| Init:+8 | Perc:+6 | Speed 30)

I see no problem with buying a horse, but a pack horse seems unnecessary, at least for me.

F

Alexis squares her shoulders and faces Daniel, There is an issue. We will have to leave some one behind to watch the horses or risk them being stolen by bandits or attacked by animals. I would love to not walk but I do not want to have dead horses and lost items. And I would rather a wagon and horse or two. This has more storage and costs a little more. Though still has the problem of who guards it... Perhaps a guard dog or hiring a person to do this. Perhaps Sir the Church could help. She is holding her tail by the end of her little speech.

Was that last bit directed towards somebody at the church?

Ty is just going to go with whatever the consensus is. He doesn't have much input on this.

perhaps, though they are spread thin. You look into purchasing a wagon, I'll speak to the temple.

Daniel will head to the temple. He will look for valla for geneider, also keeping his eyes open for the halfing knight. (Whose name escapes Me and I can't find v.v)

F

I will look into it. You can find my later at Sarenrea's Temple. After saying that she flees the area quickly

GM:
Alexis will go get a quote and then head to the temple to confession of her cruelty towards a surrendered man and council.

Sir Rollynd is the halfling knight.

Valla is surprised to see Daniel returned so quickly, but understands when he explains. She hasn't learned much of any interest yet in her studies, save that if the Cloak is in the Citadel in the hands of enemies of the Church of Iomedae, unfortunate things may have happened (to the bad guys) as punishment.

As for finding a guard for the wagon, Valla finds you some young acolyte with broad shoulders who can't say no when told he's going to babysit an empty wagon.

Max HP: 22; Current HP: 14

On his way out of the Church, Daniel feels a small, strong hand grab his arm, as Sir Rollynd hauls him behind a large pillar.

"I know your quest, archer," he says. "I know what you seek. I saw you, and some of the people with you, I saw it in a vision before I even met you. I saw that my redemption or my doom is connected with your quest. If you will have me, I would accompany and assist you."

"Please."

ah, sir Rollynd. I was hoping to run into you. Indeed when I returned I had planned to offer you a place on our quest. Even if it was as a mere guard. I'm glad to see you wish to be more. You are more than welcome my friend.I remember you used to lead and train men... Perhaps you'd like to whip a young acolyte given us as a wagon guard into shape while we travel as well?
Daniel begins to walk back to the meeting place motions for Rollynd to follow.

Max HP: 22; Current HP: 14

"I can still do that, at least," Sir Rollynd replies as he follows Daniel and Timbur, the young acolyte.

Alexis makes her way to the temple of Saranrae to confess her sins. The clerics there are...rather unhappy about this confession, and several old codgers mutter about impetuous children and maybe a few more studies is what she needs to settle her down. Several of the old men are prepared to strip her of her standing right there, until a slightly younger priest points out that hastily meteing out condemnation and not giving one a proper chance to repent and do better is exactly what they are accusing Alexis of.

Seemingly mollified (and somewhat chastened), the old crew shuffles off to a game of stones, while the priest compliments Alexis on her integrity in confessing her error, and her wisdom in seeking guidance. He tasks her with a penance of seeking out someone in her life, or from her past, who perhaps had been to quick to judge her, and offer spontaneous reconciliation.

As Alexis, leaves the temple and heads back towards the group, a familiar voice calls out to her from the steps of the temple of Shelyn...

HINT!! HINT!!

Dear Me, Alexis trouble already? I thought you said that was not your streak? As a tall lithe woman with eyebrow raised, walks slowly towards Alexis. Though Desna's favor may be fleeting. I do not need to ask how Absalom has treated you. Rhylellia smiles sadly at Alexis. Perhaps you would like to converse with me?

F

Alexis stops and waits for the Rhylellia to catch up to her, Trouble I have made for myself is all. You are welcome to walk with me... I have companions I have to meet.

Together they walk off. Alexis rubs her horns and says Absalom has been an interesting experience so far. I did not expect to see you again. How has this strange city treated you?

It is a City born in secrets, and then it likewise gives birth more. So it is very exciting, yet I am glad I do not live here. It's people are friendly enough, I suppose. Rhylellia tilts her head to the side causing her veil to shift allowing Alexis to see that she does not possess any ears where a humanoid's ears should be. I do not mean to pry, but I am concerned. I would speak to you in private. If you would allow me this. Rhylellia speaks in a soft whisper. Visible concern mars her face.

gm:

Is possible to have had my character do some research at an academy or library? To look up history of Aroden to see if the heatless flame is association with him. What the new powers I have are?
Afterwards, I would try to talk to the Cleirics of Shelyn, but only if they agreed to meet with me in secret and to keep the contents of our conversation secret.
Would talk to any other Lion Blades in the area, about the god occurrence, and what they themselves found out.
If time permitting knowledge local rolls to see if the New God gave any more powers or effects, and what those effect do.

F

If you wish to speak in private that can be arranged. We can go to where I am to meet my companions so I can let them know I am there if they need me then we can get a table or a private room if you would prefer At that Alexis starts a quick pace to the tavern where the others should be.
