Lady Marianna |
"I'll head back to the inn, getting my cold iron weapon. We better be prepared for the fey creatures." Marianna says as she leaves the apothecary, getting some cold air before she got to annoy with the healer inside.
Brenna Ylvadottir |
Giving a sharp nod, Brenna steps towards the door, giving the bear Tuum a small pat on the head. "For those brave enough to face down these wicked creatures of the north, shall we meet at the town's center after all have retrieved those items that they may use in their defense?"
Fjeor |
Approaching with Rorgar, Fjeor stops to give a small bow and greetings in dwarven. Pausing a moment to remember his trader fathers ways of dealing he changes demeanour. "Greetings Mari, may your forge be ever hot and hammer strikes true. This is Rorgar, just newly arrived. It seems we may be after some items requiring a skilled hand; cold iron to combat fae. Would you have some small pieces available? Arrows or bolts, short spears or daggers?" Fjeor questions.
Expert Blacksmith Mari Stoneman |
"Fey? Hmm, Mari may have some cold iron ore left, but bars not made. cold iron not biggest seller. Let Mari check in back"
The dwarf hobbles to the back, returning a short time later holding a box.
"This what Mari has already made, anything else take day to make"
In the box you find:
x1 Cold iron Scythe
x1 Cold iron Elven Curve blade
x1 Cold iron Scimitar
x14 Cold iron tipped arrows
x2 Cold iron daggers
Rorgar Brewmaster |
I can see well made as expected, However there is nothing here that I might use. Could I get from you some materials?
Seeing if I can roust the materials together to create durable cold iron arrows.
Rorgar Brewmaster |
I was wondering if you might have some bar ore, shafts, twine, feathers, and glues. This way it gives me something to do at nights.
Expert Blacksmith Mari Stoneman |
Mari reaches below the counter and pulls up a scroll.
"Mari have few bars, This is price Mari sells"
1 lb Bar of cold iron 25% grade 12gp 5sp, 50% grade 25gp, 100% grade 50gp

Mari don't have rest, check artisans shop"
Hassan al'Akbar |
Sorry for the delay in posting, busy weekend and Monday and when I could post the site seemed to be down.
Hassan joins the dwarves in the short jaunt over to the smithy, where Mari Stoneman is working. There appears to be a scimitar in the box she brings forth, and Hassan hefts it, once he has permission.
"How much for this blade? My funds are limited but my need is great. It is said these weapons work on the fey creatures we must face, and this weapon is favored by the Dawnflower."
The foreign man counts out the gold coins (from Qadira) that he was given for this mission and sees that they add up to only 16 gp. He offers the entire amount to the dwarf with a look of hope.
Scimitar is normally 15 gp, but cold iron doubles the price-- not sure if she'll make him a deal or not. If not, he'll settle for one of the daggers.
Vadim Ivanov |
"Well, i do hope they don't mind my tag along. And that you'll behave yourself and stay put while I'm gone, Yulnn." Vadim shrugged, he'd done his part now it was up for Yulnn to decide whether or not to reopen wounds. Vadim then began to regather his things that he'd unpacked. Bagging up most, but attaching a holy symbol and one of his component pouches to his side, and then began to hunt around the apothecary. He seemed to tear through the little corner that he'd been given reign of searching for something seemingly non-existent. "By Immonhiel, where is my damned spellbook?" He asked himself in frustration, his words conveying more emotions than his expressions conformed to.
Hassan al'Akbar |
i normally decide these with a high low roll. Ill let you pick before i roll to make it fair
Low is good.
Lady Marianna |
Back in her room Marianna goes through the footlocker looking for her morningstar. "Ah there it is. Not my preferred weapon, but it should counter the fey easily." Once she has checked her pack for the needed items for a trip, she begins a small prayer to Iomedae
Marianna holds her Longsword out in front of her and hangs her holy symbol of Iomedae from the handle. She kneels while focusing on the holy symbol, pray for guidance and protection from the Inheritor, while reciting a few lines of her code. "I will learn the weight of my sword. Without my heart to guide it, it is worthless. My strength is not in my sword, but in my heart. If I lose my sword, I have lost a tool. If I betray my heart, I have died. I will guard the honor of my fellows, both in thought and deed, and I will have faith in them."
When she is done she leaves the inn and walks toward the center of the town and waits for the others to show.
Fjeor |
Nodding to Mari and digging out some of his few coins. "A dagger then shall be fine for a backup weapon, but we have indeed heard there are the fey in the area causing some mischief."
Turning with his purchase Fjeor quirks an eyebrow at Rorgar. "Did you also spend time amongst the elves of Kyonin? I heard of their unbreakable alchemical arrows but never inquired further. I was there over a year and they kept looking at me like some oddity. Might be a good choice for my Grandfather's crossbow when we have some time."
Rorgar Brewmaster |
If possible it will be done Mari
Rorgar looks over at Fjeor
No, I have not spent any time with them, but one of my cousins four
generations back and thrice removed did, and he mentioned it.
I just thought I would see if making such a thing was possible.
Liam the Wanderer |
The flame-haired Ifrit approaches, gold in hand. Turning first to Mari, he says "I would like to purchase a dagger if I may." Once that's done he approaches Hassan. "We are all in this together friend. Here, takes this and buy your scimitar." he says, and hands the man the 14gp he needs.
I had 50gp remaining from creation. No use chancing bad things happening in combat because we didn't have enough Cold Iron.
Hassan al'Akbar |
Hassan just bites back a bitter remark about the dwarf finding fey, right up close, but instead nods his disappointed assent. The inquisitor is just about to put his coins away when the strange ifrit man offers to make up the difference. Hassan's mouth hangs open in surprised astonishment for a few seconds then he hands the coins over to the stingy dwarf smith, taking the iron version of his patron's weapon in hand with reverence.
After inspecting the blade carefully, he turns to Liam, "Thank you, my friend. Your charity is remarkable for one you have just met. Blessings of Sarenrae, be upon you! I insist on returning the favor to you someday." He bows low, and sticks out his hand to shake with his new, if a bit odd, companion.
Once the weapon against fey is secured, Hassan shoulders his pack and awaits the others at the pre-arranged spot in the center of town.
Thanks Liam, Hassan would've been quite suspicious of your powers but now will be looking out for you.
Vadim Ivanov |
After a good ten minutes of searching, Vadim finally gives up on finding his spell book for now. Departing from the Apothecary with his bags, including his kit for rest assuming they'll be gone long enough to need it, he makes his way to the center of town where he had heard one of the women of the group suggest as a meeting place. On his person besides the kit for general outdoors living, a large bag containing necessary surgical and bandage materials.
Rorgar Brewmaster |
Rorgar returns to his room, garbs his gear and then returns to the agreed on meeting point.
Fjeor |
Returning out of the shop Fjeor pauses to scratch Tuum behind the ears and wanders out towards the center of town before pausing to consider something. He diverts to the general store to purchase rope before arriving.
"A point to discuss Marianna." he starts as he approaches. "If these are winter fey they may know of the cause. 'Twould perhaps be best if we attempt a capture? The smith expressed interest also for be knowing if they are in the area."
Lady Marianna |
"I would rather not capture them, they are just as likely to be the cause of this as any winter witch. I wouldn't think you'll be able to get them to talk long enough to learn anything form thier lies. The winter fey I've encountered before, are an evil unlike any I've seen before, and must be eliminated before they become a permanent resident of this area." Mariaana responds to Fjeor well knowing she can not prevent him from taking a captive if he so wishes.
Brenna Ylvadottir |
Brenna, overhearing parts of the conversation with Fjeor and Marianna shakes her head. "Take it from me, friends, these creatures be as foul as any beast from hereabouts if what Yulnn says is true. Better to see them felled quickly than risk their cruel spells taking control of you or worse."
Lady Marianna |
"That's what I was saying, feys are not to be trusted especially those from the winter kingdom of Irrisen. I would rather slay them, then see them hurt one of you I travel with now. I have faith the Inheritor will guide my hand to fell these foul creatures, there is nothing just or right about them."
Fjeor |
Fjeor answers calmly trying to put forth his point without arguing. "I seek not to save the creatures, but to find the actual cause behind this unnatural winter. They mayhap be only be only creatures taking advantage of the circumstances or could be its harbingers. It would behoove us to find which."
Vadim Ivanov |
"Nothing wrong with taking one alive. There is information to be gathered even in a lie, as the best kind of lie is one with a bit of truth." Vadim offered, supporting Fjeor. "I'm certain one of you all is skilled enough to tell when such a lie is being told anyway; and worst case, if it turns out to be pointless, just kill it then... It'll be helpless."
Lady Marianna |
"I will give them exactly one chance to surrender, after that I won't strain myself from killing these feys. Some might survive the beating but I'll won't stop you from trying to take one captive. Just don't expect me to hold back once they start attacking us with spells and what els."
Hassan al'Akbar |
Hassan listens to the discussion about capturing a fey creature, rolling his eyes on the discussion of easily killing a captive. Certainly, if a captive were taken, murdering them would not find the favor of his patron, and he may have to stop such behavior, but that was far in the future if at all.
"Pardon my saying so, but the dwarf smith did not ask for a captive fey, just proof of their existence. Bringing back a corpse would suffice the same without the risk. Surely, if we are to successfully find the answer to this wintry weather, we may have to slay one or two. That should suffice without considering how to capture one."
Is everyone here? Are we ready to set forth?
Rorgar Brewmaster |
I happen to agree, If they yield in the fight, I will try to stay my hand, but what happens in a fight, I will not shed any tears over.
Rorgar taps his axe gently as he looks at the others.
And you are right, Miri did not ask for a captive, although the information they might give is tainted, just proof that they exist.
Here and as ready as can be expected.
Fjeor |
Nodding in response to the various answers of his question Fjeor continues. "The fey I have talked to have indeed been tricky although not overall as malevolent. But I will cede to the judgement of the group and those with more lore. I beg pardon." He steps back obviously prepared to follow the group.
Hassan al'Akbar |
I think everyone has arrived but Liam, and I'll just assume he is along for the ride, if he needs some more town time, I apologize
Seeing that the group has gathered, Hassan nods to the south -- the direction indicated by the Ulfen guard's map. "We should be off. The day will grow short before we know it; I'd rather take these fey creatures on in the light of the Dawnflower's glory."
Unless there are objections, he sets off to the south, leaving the small village behind.
Vadim Ivanov |
Vadim begins to follow Hassan down south out of the village. As a group begins to form, Vadim finds himself hugging the back, knowing that he is near useless in such a fight as they are expecting from fey. After taking a few feet out of the town, he stumbles a bit before catching himself and righting himself-- clearly not the most agile man in the world.
As they are making way, a thought comes across him, "I don't believe I've properly introduced myself. I was the in the middle of my work when you lot first showed up." He scratched his chin considering back to the little time since he'd met them, and decided to tag along with the strangers to help them succeed and potentially find answers himself. "My name is Vadim Ivanov. I am a surgeon, devotee of Immonhiel's healing magics, and dabble in the arts of arcane study as well. My ability to aid in the midst of conflict is limited, but for rest and general recovery I believe my ability second to none."
Mumbling under his breath, "Though i couldn't find that damn spellbook."
Fjeor |
Following behind also Fjeor nods towards Vadim. "Greetings Vadim Ivanov. I am Fjeor Stonestriker and also seem to be a part of this grouping. We should compare some notes when next we camp. While I am no surgeon I do have the healing power of nature and can even tap into Tuum's vitality here a little to help healing the hurt." He pauses to dig out a strip of meat from his pack to offer it to Vadim while his small black bear behind them watches with interest. "If you need a guard take this and feed it to Tuum. He will know you are a friend and I can ask him to defend you. While he isn't very large or fierce he can help keep you safe. Also scratch him behind the ears for he does like that."
Vadim Ivanov |
With an understanding, Vadim recieves the meat strip and soon offers it to the bear, but when he goes to scratch Tuum, he instead begins to feel around his neck, down his torso, and all around his back as though doing an examination on a patient. An approving nod indicates he doesn't seem to find anything. "Thank you, I will certainly treat Tuum here with all of the aid I would offer anyone else."
Looking over the rest he begins, "I remember Liam and Rorgar introducing themselves back at the apothecary, but everyone else I am pulling up a blank." As he looked among them, he notices a holy symbol among three others', not even including Brenna or Liam. "And quite a lot of diversity of faith as well, between us."
Brenna Ylvadottir |
"Well met, Vadim. I am Brenna Ylvadottir of far-off Asleifar." The powerful looking Ulfen walks to the man and pats him on the shoulder. "May we have little need of your ministrations, but I welcome you to the adventure at hand."
Turning to all the others, she grins. "How goes all of you? Shall we bring glory to our ancestors and ourselves by ridding fair Heldren of it's little problem then?"
Lady Marianna |
"Well met, I'm Lady Marianna paladin of the Inheritor. We might disagree how to handle things, but I'll protect all my companions to the best of my abilities. I'll lead by Iomedae's example and fight the rightous battle to rid evil from it's roots." She says in respond to both Vadim, turning to Brenna she answer "Glory to those he fights the rightous battle to save the weak and innocent from evil. I'll bring glory to my family who perished at the hands of winter witches and thier minions."
Lady Marianna |
as you read the map, your guess it is around 7 miles (roughly 2 hours, 3 hours for the dwarf) from the town to the caravan site yulnn marked on the map. How are you guys attacking that?
I should also be on the 3 hours travel with my medium armor.
Hassan al'Akbar |
Hassan nods curtly to the physician in the group. "I am Hassan, a simple vessel for the glory of Sarenrae, thte Dawnflower. You are part of this group, and therefore under her protection. If there is a fight, I will strive to keep you safe. I do not have your skill in healing, but am at times blessed with that ability through the power of my patroness. It is good to have you on the journey. If the wounds suffered by Brenna's kinsman are any indication, your skills may be needed."
After marching along the road south for a few hours, Hassan calls the group to a stop. "If I comprehend the map accurately, we may be getting near to the place where Yuln's caravan was attacked. We should proceed carefully as the fey may have expanded their territory. I suggest we put a skirmisher on either side of the road, to scout ahead and make sure the road is clear."
He listens for other ideas on how to proceed, and if none seem better, he volunteers to take one of the roadside spots.
Lady Marianna |
"If we are to scout ahead, we would need someone with a good eye for details and who can move quickly. I'm afraid I am not very good in that kind of situation, I can miss something right in front of my eyes quite easily."
Rorgar Brewmaster |
While on the move.
Yes, we should have a scout, but asking me to do someting like that would be a waste of abilities, and pointless, as I have no skills in that way.
