The officials from House Lyander are willing to take care of the Provost's body. "It is the least we can do."

After getting organized, you head into Sharn. It takes a good part of the day to arrive at your location. During your trip, you pass by the Merchant district. Any shopping?

I'm going to play a Werewolf the Apocalypse game tomorrow and the day after, there is no amount of wolf puns that can phase me at this point. :P

"She awaited him at the Broken Anvil, though I cannot see any reason." Servitor chimed in quietly. Servitor offers no reply to Tierney's query of the spellbook, and instead just meanders to one of the nearest sailors. Who may or may not be Uriah if you want. :) "Where can I find the Broken Anvil?"

I will see about getting components for three flasks of alchemist's fire, and twenty large bolts for my warbow.

Bridge Map

2 gold for the bolts (1x2). 60 gold for fire (20x3).

The sailor gives you directions. "It be in the Mason's Tower. Follow the signs to the Artisan's District."

"Broken Anvil, okay. It's a start."

Healer's Kit 50g. Resin?

Just a flavor idea for treating the wood, so it won't become warped and will stand up to the elements, etc. Unless it is magically protected. Kind of the staff version of a sharpening stone. I have no idea if there is a Pathfinder item, but the staff is important to me. I want to treat it well.

Sweet. It costs less than a gold, so no charge.

Making 2 alchemist fire, a dose of blue winnis poison and buying a set of masterwork thieves tools(selling the regular ones).

GM Mason: I think Servitor was looking at having me brew up the alchemist fire to save money.

Servitor, after examining the assassins that we fought, I believe I have sufficient knowledge to assist with your repairs when necessary. Perhaps I will be able to improve upon your form as I learn more about your anatomy.

Warforged Armor Master 3| AC 19 T 11 FF 18 | HP 37/37 | F +7 R +2 W +1 | CMD: 17 | Init +1| Perc +0

That is indeed the case, was getting materials for crafting alchemist's fires, not the actual flasks yet. Figured it'd be in bad taste for me to continue to ignore the Provost's buying advice given the circumstances.

Servitor nods, "If it will be of any assistance to you, I am happy to help. Once done, let us work on reviving the assassins that we can... I... know of a prison to which they can be sent."

Bluff: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11

Sense Motive 11:
Considering he's already been threatening the assassins with sending them to the mines, and suggested that's where he used to work? Chances are good that he's not talking about an actual prison.

Oh, um, I don't think that they are likely to be revived at this point.
Though if you have a need for any half-sized spare parts, I believe we have a surplus. Some of the parts may even be usable on non-warforged. I should probably perform a number of tests before we reach that point.

Oh yes, you have no idea of the multitude of uses of such things. Aside from the obvious uses of dealing with vermin of all types, they also make it far easier to prepare cadavers for use. Many are also beneficial to the body in the proper dosage. Many of my infusion are based on what most would simply label as "poisons".

Jarot's eyes light up at the sign of an interested audience. He begins smiling and speaking much more rapidly.

On a related note, I would be most interested in performing an examination on each of you. Nothing invasive I assure you. You each possess attributes beyond that of your standard human. It is my belief that with proper study that these deviations from the standard human blood line can lead to cures for any number of maladies as well as opportunities for individuals to improve themselves beyond their normal limits.

I consider myself a fine example of just that. Before my studies I was regularly ill and quite physically weak. I think that we can all perceive that is no longer the case.

Chapter One: The Hidden Foundry

It is nightfall before the group finally arrives at Mason's Tower. Thunder booms and lightning cracks as you get your first glimpse of the Broken Anvil Tavern and Inn. An old wooden sign hanging over the door swings violently side to side as the wind and rain beat at your cloaks. What started as a light afternoon shower had turned into a rather violent thunder storm.

The group opens the door and finds a small, quaint tavern. An attractive halfling female stands behind the counter. The tavern is empty, probably due to the storm you think. "Come in...Come in!" The high pitched voice welcomes you all. "Warm yourselves by my fire. I have Talenta stew simmering in the back." The wonderful aroma of the traditional Halfling stew causes your stomachs to growl. She comes out from behind the bar and arranges five chairs around the fire. Next she brings a large pillow and lays it right infront of the fire. "For you four legged friend." Her kind smile is one of the first you have seen since arriving in Sharn. "I am Talulah Sweetwater. My Friends call me Sweet. Make yourself at home." She heads off to get four bowls of stew.

The fire does a fine job of taking the chill out of you, but even with the prosect of homemade food in your belly, the events of the last few days are as weighty as ever. You sit around, staring at the fire.

Adir takes a moment to observe his surroundings. Is the inn clean, dirty, seemingly prosperous, rundown, etc? Perception, take 10=18

"Thank you for your kindness, friend Sweetwater. A warm fire and a hot meal sound wonderful. While the stew smells delightful, would you have anything a bit... meatier to supplement it for my lady friend and I?

During the walk to the tavern, Tierney raises his collar against the rain. If anyone is paying close attention, though, he would notice that Tierney seems to take no notice of the chill in the air. At no point does he shiver or react to the cold of the wind, except to squint in the face of gusts.

When the arrive his eyes dart around the common room and his gaze lingers a bit behind Miss Sweetwater. Habitually, he looks at the space she vacated in order to spot any possible threats that she might want to distract them from. He relaxes his guard after a few moments. Only a very observant person would perceive his actions. A trusty guardsman learns to be subtle in his work and Tierney still practices his vigilance this way.

"Stew sounds good" he says after an awkwardly-long interval. His smile seems somewhat odd as well, as if he were unused to eating in taverns at all.

Of course our contact would be a Halfling. Truly there can be no other people so useless. The faster we can be done with this one the better.

Clean, but well lived in. Almost like a cozy home.

"And where will you stay tonight? This is where all of House Cannith's guests stay. Are you not here on House business?"

Suddenly, there is a loud thump as the front door to the Broken Anvil swings open. Your hearts lurch up into your throats as a heavily-cloaked, powerful-looking warforged made of mithral stands in the opening! He throws his dark cloak aside as if to display his massive shield and the wicked-looking mace hanging at his belt, his wide shoulders filling the frame of the door. For a long, unsettling moment, he just stands there, looking at you with unwavering blue pinpoints of light shining from deep within its mithral skull. Your hands drift closer to your weapons...

Then he steps aside and turns, nodding to someone outside. A slender feminine figure, her face hidden within the depths of her cowl, steps past the intimidating warforged and drifts into the common room like something of a spectre out of the night. As you are the only patrons in the room, she immediately moves toward your table, removing her cowl as she approaches. She is human, a Lady from the way she carries herself, looking something like a princess out of a fairytale with skin like ivory and her shimmering black hair pulled back and secured with silver ornaments. Dark blue eyes shine like sapphires in the lanterns' light and you notice a single ring glinting on the ring finger of her right hand. Although she appears confident and proud, you notice that her eyes are somewhat red-rimmed. Not even Sweet, who sticks her head out of the kithen to see who has arrived, is able (or willing) to say anything as she strides up to your table.

"I am Elaydren d'Vown of House Cannith," she says, her voice soft but clear. "Tell me, what happened to my friend Bonal Geldem."

Before the lady makes her appearance, Tierney seems lost in thought. Father told me that the halflings of Talenta were savages who ride scaly beasts and were without learning.

The question of ale or wine confuses Tierney momentarily. [b]"Just water, if you have it, please."[b]

When Lady Elaydren enters Tierney stands, a split second after the others. Clearly, he needs a moment to prepare himself for what to say to her. Thankfully, Adir was able to take the lead in responding for the group. Even with severely limited social skills, Tierney realizes that a misstep here could be catastrophic.

He bows respectfully when the Lady introduces herself and continues to rely on the others to navigate the scene.

Sweet walks out from the back kitchen and heads to the door. "I will lock up my lady. I had an agent of Medani check the place at your request. The anvil should be secure." She walks up to the front door and bolts it locked.

As she heads back to the kitchen, she points at Elaydren's bodyguard. In a somewhat teasing tone, "How are you Bulwark? Can I get you anything sweety?"

The large warforged bodyguard doesn't even acknowledge the halfling. Instead, he stands stoically and stares at Servitor.

So Provost Bonal was not the one that the attackers would have benefited most from killing. Servitor was the true prize for this venture. Making him Bonal's bodyguard diverted attention from him. In the end, this was clever, if tragic.

This Lady is cunning and sharp. It would be wise to account her enemies as capable and very dangerous indeed.

"Oh, yes, I do have Bonal's spellbook. He left us his goods in a letter he was carrying. Show her the letter. There is no journal in it."

"Why would this Lord of Blades want to kill Provost Bonal? Why is he your enemy?"

"He wants a schema that Provost Geldem identified in an ancient journal." She pauses and sees you are clueless of what she is talking about. "A schema is like a building block of artifice. These blocks can be combined into patterns which can serve many purposes. I do not know what this particular pattern is capable of, but if the Lord of Blades is interested in it, it must be more valuable that I initially thought. The Mourning nearly shattered our house when it claimed our most brilliant minds, our elders, and our enclave in Metrol. Many of our secrets are now lost within the Mournland and I fear what this Lord of Blades may have learned if he has discovered our hidden facilities." She pauses, a troubled look upon her face, but she does not stop for long. "Bonal believed that this one piece was part of a set, but there is much that we have not yet learned from this ancient journal. This is but the first piece of the puzzle that we know of."

She gets a look of disgust on her face and continues, "Some speak of this Lord of Blades as a great philosopher and teacher. Others describe him as a powermad warlord and self-styled prophet who wishes to challenge the weaker, flesh-bound races for supremacy of Khorvaire. His hidden enclave follows a strict regimen that crosses theocratic ideals with the power of a military dictatorship; the Lord of Blades serves as both god and king to his followers. In his camp, the Lord of Blades’ word is law. The warforged who have joined him must accept his rule or be destroyed. The relic I seek is an adamantine plate in the shape of a seven-pointed star about the size of your hand. It has no special power by itself, but is an ancient schema..." She pauses for a second,"So to answer your question, he sent his assassins to kill the Provost and retrieve the journal."

The warforged body guard finally speaks up with a deep mechanical voice. "He forgets his place. We were created for a purpose." He looks at Servitor.
