Tierney Quade |
I will probably not be able to post tomorrow.
Tierney plans to buy new clothes and use 150gp to place two spells (Burning Hands and Grease) on his arms in the form of scar-tattoos. See spell-scars for details.
Servitor |
Here here Tierney, that was a good one!
And thanks Adir, it honestly just kind of rankled my feathers to see an accusation be levied at Adir like that over discontent voiced from actions Adir had no part in. Fine if Uriah wanted to take issue with Servitor or Jarot, we're not exactly going to be great friends with the average paladin. Hell, I'd even give a slight pass to taking a shot at Tierney just because he hasn't been as vocal as Adir, even if it'd still irritate me a bit. But taking a shot at Adir just seemed petty, so I wasn't going to just let that one slide without a word.
Working on leveling up Servitor as we speak, should have the exacts done soon Mason.
Kinad Tiansul |
Hello, All!
I suppose I am going to the the new... well, I'm not entirely sure at this point... we will say adventuring scibe/student. :D
Most of the nuts and bolts of the character are done. I am still working on gear, though.
Feel free to go through and offer any critiques and/or suggestions. If you can think of anything that will make Kinad work better with the party, or more fun to be around, let me know.
(There is also always the possibility that I miss counted somewhere or failed to edit everything after a change.)
Servitor |
Welcome Kinad! I'll take a look at your sheet next chance I get.
Meanwhile, finished leveling Servitor up:
Class:
Armor Master Fighter
Class Ability:
Armor Training 1
Feat:
Improved Charge
Gear Purchased:
Masterwork Transformation Spell on Sledge (350 GP)
+1 Enchantment on Sledge (2,000 GP) once I got the WBL bonus.
During his downtime, Servitor will repair himself first and foremost so I'm back to full HP, will take about 32 hours. Time after that will be spent fulfilling his promise of turning Razor's remains into crude jewelry and attempting to sell that, for what little good that will do. If he has extra time after that? Uh... ? I'll cross that bridge if I come to it.
Jarot Tennet |
Jarot will of course offer to help with repairs. Mostly to be helpful, partly to see more of your inner workings... :)
Welcome Kinad. It will be interesting to see what the new version of psionics is like.

Same here, I just didn't want to reply again because I was really tempted to say some rather unkind things. I had Jarot watching Adir to see if he was being inappropriate. Uriah never showed up on my "Moral guidance" radar. He just seemed to really hate the dragon marked houses.

Welcome Kinad! . . . .

Welcome Kinad. It will be interesting to see what the new version of psionics is like.
Thank you.
Well, if I do a poor job, don't hold it against the system. :)
Between few enough powers and spontaneity, psions function much like sorcerers. I'd say most of the powers are the same, but, much like the polymorph line, the metamorphosis powers got an overhaul. A few powers got some nifty augments. A few powers got rebalanced. On the whole, it's still the same.
I really like the new classes, though. I especially like the vitalist and the tactician. A few of the PrCs are really well done, too.
GM Mason |
As I mentioned before we started, you can do what you want in this game. I got tired of streamlined APs. There is a lot of grey in the real world and that type of behavior works in Eberron. In my opinion, alignment is a starting point. Good people do bad things in certain circumstances. Bad people sometimes do good things. There are consequences for actions though. I GM as if it is real life. I don't like silly behavior. I asked a player to leave a game I GMed because his character would have continued to get his ass kicked if it was real life. He got mad when NPCs reacted to his bull s~#*.
"Good" is relevant depending on social norms in real life. Now in faith you have clear norms, but we do not have any priests or paladins in this game.
1d100 ⇒ 76
Servitor: +76 gold for creativity. Razor jewelry is a hit in Sharn.
GM Mason |
By silly behavior, I don't mean no fun. I just mean that if a obviously high level NPC is around, ie King of Breland, don't pick a fight with him.
Adir Bloodmoon |
Welcome and howdy, Kinad.
Thank you, guys.
Damn, you guys are going to be tough to follow. Fun rp to read!
Side note: I interchange 'I' and 'we' a fair amount for Adir. It is purposeful. I'm trying to reflect that there isn't much distinction between the 2 for him because the wolf pack is both a singular entity, and multiple entities. I just keep thinking that you all must think I'm nuts.

Not at all.
I have been following the thread for a bit, and I think that you managed to transmit the idea of the pack mentality pretty early on, in addition to using Ghost as your Totem. I think I would have found it surprising if a shifter who had bonded with another creature did not use "we" more often than "I". That and I used to play Werewolf the Apocalypse a fair amount.
Edit: And I was trying to think of an animal to apply magebred to for an interesting pet. I was kind of thinking of getting a small dog and gearing it toward tracking, but then I thought that might step on Ghost's toes a bit.
Can you think of any particular type of creature that you think you would like Ghost to play off of... like a bird to bark at, or to be annoyed by a monkey occasionally, or something like that?
Or should I just scrap that thought entirely, as it's not really necessary to the character?
On second thought, forget it. Since Jarot has picked up Ravage, I don't think the party needs another minion. :)
GM Mason |
Just lost a huge post for Jarot at the apothecary. Ahhhhhhhh!!! I'm going to do some spoiler storylines with y'all in the city before moving you on.
GM Mason |
Ouch, eaten posts never get any easier... That said, wheee personal storyline! Step right up! Step right up! Get your Razor bracelets riiiiight here!
I'm loving your inner conflict with being a warforged. It is perfect with the feel of the campaign setting. I have a good RPing moment set up for you soon.
Jarot Tennet |
Oh were you using that post? I used it to feed the beetles I collected from the forge. They seemed to enjoy, but then went mad and ate each other. Except for one... Mwahahahahahha! Err I mean, sorry to hear that. :) May be a little slaphappy from sleep issues, you be the judge.

Thanks for the response re: pack stuff. I'm glad that it isn't seeming bizarre.
I think the mechanical hound has no combat benefits. That was my impression.
I am training my guy towards fulfilling the tracking/wilderness role. At the same time, if each of us ends up with some sort of canine companion.... haha, that would really appeal to the pack theme.
I could see a bird working, too. Ghost is awesome, but flying... just not in her skillset.
Those are my initial thoughts for if you end up wanting to go that way after all.
Another side note, only semi-related: Adir has never actually introduced Ghost or used her name verbally. I have a very little idea for that moment, if it ever comes up organically. No pressure to force it, I swear. =)
Ummm, Jarot....what did we say about feeding the vermin?

Yes, we have a really scary looking pack mule. I figure just appearance should scare away common thieves, and animals wouldn't bother as it is not edible.
I think the common consent on feeding vermin was "anything not us".

I have a question about scribing scrolls. Is is possible to scribe a spell onto a scroll that is below your caster level? Can Tierney, who is level 3, place a spell onto a scroll and have it take effect at caster level 2 or 1?

As long as it is a high enough caster level to actually cast the spell, the crafter sets the caster level.
Take for example burning hands and fireball. A 6th level wizard could craft both at his caster level of 6 (making a 6d6 fireball and a 5d4 burning hands... which would be a waste) or he could choose to lower that to make them cheaper to craft, like the fireball scroll at CL 5 making it 5d6 and a burning hands scroll of CL 3 making it 3d4. If the same caster lowered the fireball scroll to CL 4, it would not work, because you cannot cast that spell at that level.
Is that making sense?
Also, all scrolls and potions found are assumed to be crafted at the minimum caster level necessary to function unless otherwise stated. A scroll of cure light wounds is CL 1 and 1d8+1 hit points. A scroll of fireball is CL 5 and 5d6 damage.
Edit: Source and Quote.
. . . While item creation costs are handled in detail below, note that normally the two primary factors are the caster level of the creator and the level of the spell or spells put into the item. A creator can create an item at a lower caster level than her own, but never lower than the minimum level needed to cast the needed spell. Using metamagic feats, a caster can place spells in items at a higher level than normal. . . .

Kinad: Thundercats are HOOOOOOOOOOO! in the gameplay thread for you. Welcone to the game noble Psion!
GM Mason |
Yes, welcome to Bloodmoon, Quade, Servitor and Tennet (formerly Bloodmoon, Lewis, Quade, Servitor and Tennet). We will have business cards printed up for you shortly.
Haha...Sounds like a 60s band. The Bloodmoon, Quade, Servitor, and Tennet Experience!
I will get a post up for Tierney and Adir soon. Tierney: What would you like to do in town? Visit the guy from the airship?

Tierney wants to get ink and scarring devices in order to make spell-scars for himself. But he remembers that the airship guy had a tattoo, so if Talulah does not know where to find these things, he might go visit him instead.
He also wants to visit a library or scholar to see if he can translate the runes on Deathblade. Finally, he wants to buy a spare spellbook.
Adir Bloodmoon |
Adir needs some serious commune time with the night sky and moon. Any parks or something in the city? Or somewhere not too far outside it that we might have a small hunt? Ghost needs to stretch her legs.

Thank you.
And if you are somehow suggesting that Tierney's shadow blade is the sword of omens... then I call dibs on... Panthro Snipes, unless some cartoon cousins are available.
Then again, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors were kind of fun... they even had a small sized warforged and a wizard... but... so... cheezy...
Reminds me of THIS One of my favorites!

I have been very impressed with the posts that everyone else has written, especially of late. Half of the reason that I play PbP is for such reading. Carry on with the good work.
GM Mason |
Hey guys. Sorry for the delay on progression. Work has been killing me again. I want to give this game my full attention. I am dropping the games I am playing in to focus on y'all. I will catch up and move us forward in the next 24 hours. Thanks for you patience. You guys are awesome!
Kinad Tiansul |
Depending on when you want Kinad to show up, he could lead Tierney to the Morgrave University library. I imagine it took the better part of a day to find the Broken Anvil, though.

Today should be my last 13 hour shift. Sorry for the delay.
Jarot Tennet |
Sadly, pretty much all of my games seemed to be stalling at right about the same time. Except for the one I am tempted to drop because the GM is kind of a jerk. Really hoping Mason is able to get some rest and recover
Kinad Tiansul |
Maybe the inactive is based on if the thread creator (GM Mason) posts? I'm not sure, as I don't have a lot of experience with the system.
I'm in two others right now, a Kingmaker game that's trying to add just as much focus on the political tensions between Brevoy and the new Barony (still in book 1) and another Eberron game where the main villains appear to be Yuan-ti. The Eberron game seems to be slowing, but the Kingmaker game was slow to begin with. :)
Kinad Tiansul |
Well... I don't know what to think. I've not really gotten to get into the group, so to speak, and I do tend to like Mason's style. Maybe we could try sending a PM, and then wait for a short predetermined amount of time. If there is still no answer, we then see about pursuing that option?
Fair?
