Welcome to the campaign. As I mentioned in the recruitment thread, this will be my first time GMing though pbp. With that being said, please be patient with me. I have played in multiple games and have sought the advise of many of the GMs that I respect. I even spent the weekend working on learning how to create good battle maps: Tavern Map.

I plan to start the campaign a little different than I have ever seen done before. I am going to begin with one on one encounters so I can hopefully help merge each character with his back story. I am also going to try and attempt to have the characters meet naturally, not the "you meet and you are all best friends" way.

I will soon post my plans for mechanics ie. Initiative, maps, save rolls, etc. Please use the next 24 hours to post a little bit about yourself and get to know the other players. I hope to get started with the actual campaign tomorrow night (I am in EST US timezone).

One of the players with be on vacation until next weekend. He may have to wait and be added to the game then. Thanks again for the time you spent on your submissions. It was my pleasure to read them and to imagine where to take your characters in the world of Eberron! I will roughly be following a couple Eberron modules, but plan for the campaign to go where you lead!

Mechanics

Initiative:

I will roll everyone initiatives. I will then post them like this:
Uriah <<
Servitor<<
Bad Guy in Cloak<<
Tierney<<
Other Bad Guys<<
Adir<
Jarot<

The less-than-sign will indicate what round it is and who has posted their actions for that round. Any hero that goes before the next bad guy can go at anytime. You do not have to wait for your party member unless you would start a new round. In the above example, Jarot would not have to wait for Adir to post unless he wanted to, but Uriah and Sevitor would.

Saves/AOOs:

When I attack, I will roll your saves for you. I have had multiple GMs tell me that this is what slows their games down the most. I will also roll your AOO for you should my bad guy draw one during his actions. If I miss one, feel free to roll it instead.

Action Points/Hero Points:

By rule, you are not supposed to roll damage until you decide if you want to use an action point. This is just not feasible in pbp. Instead, we are going to go with Hero Points instead. Here are the rules for Hero Points. The exception will be that I will actually give two hero points per level (and one additional to a player who writes a journal entry of their character's perspective of the day's events to post in the discussion thread each level!)

Maps:

All of my combat maps will have coordinates. I will update each characters movement on the map ASAP. The maps will be posted at the top of the campaign (see the two already linked above).

****There may be a few other things I mention about mechanics later. Do any of you have questions about how I will GM?

Awesome, thanks for inviting the new guy!

Re: Pathfinder & Role-play...
I played 3.5 a little bit about 10 years ago. I started PF 8 months ago and enjoy it very much. I ran into the problem of having too many concepts and not enough outlets/games. PbP seems like a fun alternate way to play, but I am new to both, so feel free to let me know if I make mistakes.

Otherwise, I'm on the West Coast, Los Angeles adjacent, closer to Big Bear for those who know their ski-towns.

I look forward to playing with everyone!

One more thing, please post your stats similar to how I did in my avatar so they are easily seen.

Oh, I do have a question. RAW is when I am shifted, I get a -4 to Cha checks when dealing with non-shapeshifter humans. I totally understand that for Diplomacy and such, but I was hoping to get an exemption for Intimidate. It seems like that would be the social skill where it would still benefit. If not, no big deal, but I figured I'd ask.

Thanks!

Sounds like a good set o' rules GM! Though might I make a suggestion? I know some people like to play strategy with their AoOs, and since I've only got one/will probably only ever get one, I may be that guy this time.

So while I'd still go ahead and roll AoOs for people, perhaps we could say that if people don't want to take that particular AoO, they can veto it? If they do, I'd say make them use the same roll if they get another AoO chance, so no one can use it to squirm out of bad rolls, but thought it might be a solution, if that complaint ends up coming up. Thoughts?

Sounds good Servitor. I am very flexible and willing to change mechanics as needed to make the game as enjoyable as possible. Everyone feel free to chime in on what you like.

I am Andy. Been playing rpg's for 30 years, pathfinder since it existed, and quite a bit of Ebberron. BTW the novels for Ebberon are very hit or miss, If anyone wants I can dig around and see which ones I though were good if you want some extra background fiction.

I am fairly new to pbp, like Adir I also have character adhd so it seems like a natural outlet. :)

Will probably look for a picture less nerdy looking as we go along, but it works for now.

Init +4 | HP 33/33 | AC 14 | S-1/D+6/C+1/I+2/W+0/C+7 | Perc +5 | Insp: [ ] Consumables

I'm not sure what the GM has in mind for us but I think it might be cool if we kinda worked each other into the game, at least nominally. I'll give an example....

Uriah is a scoundrel, a rake and a reckless fop. Think Han Solo.... his perfect foil in this campaign imho would be Servitor the plodding, introspective, mission driven warforged. I think they would complement each other very well....so maybe they met up a few weeks back when Uriah hired Servitor to take some small revenge on a certain airship captain who had kicked him off the ship. This ofc turned out to be a wonderfully bad idea and Uriah & Servitor have been running from the Captain's underworld friends.

What are you guys thoughts on this? To be honest, I don't know enough about anyone else's background to say for certain if that would work.

Bridge Map

I have worked out a plan for everyone to meet each other. It might be cool if Servitor met you a few weeks back while he was traveling on your airship to catch a rogue warforged miner. A general recognition would be really cool for when you reunite soon into the campaign. I have some solo stories to start with. I will post them tonight. Feel free to work stuff out between yourselves. I want this to be a loose campaign. I love Paizos APs, but they seem to pigeon hole players. You guys can head in whichever direction you want once we get to second level.

I have Uriah starting on the airship and Servitor starting with a captured warforged in New Cyre.

Warforged Armor Master 3| AC 19 T 11 FF 18 | HP 37/37 | F +7 R +2 W +1 | CMD: 17 | Init +1| Perc +0

Cool beans, and I must admit, the idea of being the Chewbacca to your Han Solo, Uriah, I'm... tickled? By the idea? At the very least, I think that's a situation that calls for a sensible chortle at any rate! We should totally work something out for this to start happening.

Init +4 | HP 33/33 | AC 14 | S-1/D+6/C+1/I+2/W+0/C+7 | Perc +5 | Insp: [ ] Consumables

I see Servitor as the "Hey that's not really a good idea" guy and then sighing woefully as Uriah leaps into some trouble while Servitor wades in to save him shaking his head.

Examples:
Uriah stays up drinking while Servitor reminds him every 25 seconds that they have a job to do.
Uriah decides to pick up that shiny red gem out of avarice while Servitor reminds him that they are there for the BLUE gem.
Uriah decides that stealing the airship is fun and would be a blast to take around Sharn. Servitor reminds him of all the guards, and the hanging that would follow.

Haha! I'm loving this!

Works for me, meanwhile Uriah could help Servitor with the subtleties of life, like why no one seems to know what to tell him when he asks if anyone has seen a warforged who looks like a generic description of 9/10 warforged. :P

Init +4 | HP 33/33 | AC 14 | S-1/D+6/C+1/I+2/W+0/C+7 | Perc +5 | Insp: [ ] Consumables

I also wanna say that I love the fact that we are using Hero points in this campaign. It makes it possible to do some pretty cool things even at low levels, especially if you are trying to be cinematic. Nothing and I repeat Nothing sucks more than thinking of this cool action for your character, and then rolling a 5 and failing your check. The +8 makes up for that and then some.

Init +4 | HP 33/33 | AC 14 | S-1/D+6/C+1/I+2/W+0/C+7 | Perc +5 | Insp: [ ] Consumables

Oh don't worry. Uriah is going to make it his mission to dispense his own brand of knowledge to Servitor every chance he gets.

Daelkyr Half-Blood Alchemist(Vivisectionist) 3|HP 27/22|AC:15 TCH:12 FF:13|CMD:16|Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +2|Init +6|Perception +9

I kind of picture Jarot in some city or another attempting to pay destitute warforged, elemental born, shifters and changelings for a chance to perform some examinations on their forms to further his understanding of abnormal anatomies in the kingdoms. Nothing too painful or invasive, except maybe on the warforged if they are willing. He isn't a psychopath after all. A border line sociopath maybe but a psychopath; definitely not:)

I am sure this will make him popular. Add to that his attempts at finding a source of non-human bodies to autopsy and dissect and he is sure to get in to trouble fairly quickly.

Init +4 | HP 33/33 | AC 14 | S-1/D+6/C+1/I+2/W+0/C+7 | Perc +5 | Insp: [ ] Consumables

Ok so Jarot is gonna be the "wierdo" of the group....I have a feeling that Adir is gonna be the silent and introspective type. And then he will wig out and go wolf crazy startling all of us.

That leaves the magus....

That seems like the obvious route, but I might play him more gregarious and unaware that he freaks people out a bit.

I know the posting rate is kind of crazy right now. It is because I am working with you all individually. It will slow to a normal rate when you all get together. With that said, do not feel pressured to post a lot unless you want to. We have plenty of time and I can keep your backstories moving or condense them.

On a side note, I like how things are developing. I wasn't sure how this would go.

Indeed, things are actually flowing fairly well me thinks! And to help sync things I can also wait once I'm at the designated meeting point for other party members or what have you.

Crashing for the night. It was a great first day of posting. I can already see all of your personalities and stories beginning to unfold! It looks like we got the perfect group of players. I can't wait to see where this all ends up!

So much fun. I don't know how I missed this message, but I'm glad we both had the same thought.

Oh, one of the ideas I'm tossing out there is that wolves exist simultaneously in the Material world and in the World of Dreams. This is totally "borrowed" from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. It is not meant to do anything mechanically, though it might be fun for fluff if I take the Moonlight Script revelation. I just love the idea and hope you like it too.

Moonlit Script (Su): Once per night while you sleep, your hands produce mysterious writing that pertains to the future. At 1st level, the prophetic writing manifests as an augury spell with 90% effectiveness. At 5th level, the writing takes the form of a divination with 90% effectiveness. At 8th level, the writing manifests as a casting of commune with no material component required.

Also, I made a post-last minute switch of feats from Extra Feature to Skill Focus: Knowledge: Nature. Is that okay?

Haha, for just a moment, I thought about it, 'cause... pack, but no. I was thinking Fey instead. But it leads to a few that are cool. Verdant, too. I'll see where the story goes and what makes the most sense, if any.

1) Sorry. I thought I answered this. I never understood why intimidate was charisma based anyway. I am fine with this.

2) Very thematic. I am fine with you guys working together and changing knowledge skill points now to cover as many of them as possible. You can discuss it here.

It seems like the big Knowledge Skill that isn't covered at the moment is Religion. I could switch some stuff around to cover it unless someone has plans for it. It looks like Tierney has Planes, Arcana, and Dung. Servitor has Dung and Eng. Jarot has Arcana, Dung, and Nature. Uriah has Local and Geo.

Religion is a class skill for me, so I am happy to do it.

Edit: Made the adjustments.

I'll post some more in a couple of hours (3:30ish). Around 7-10 pm EST, I should be available for some consistent back and forth posting (like last night) if anyone is interested.

By the way, I am a big fan of players having a "special" item that grows in power as the player progresses. I hope you guys are ok with this. I was a player in a Dragonlance campaign once and had a staff that "grew" with my wizard. It was one of the best tabletop games I was ever involved in.

I just want to make sure to keep it balanced.

Hi guys, this looks to be an interesting group forming here.

I am Bill and have been playing since 1980 or '81. It has been so long that I no longer remember. My introduction to the game was that my friends told me about it and had me roll up a magic-user. I looked at the spell list and chose invisibility as the spell that I wanted to cast.

They made me roll dice to see if it worked. We were about 10 or 11 years old and did not know what we were doing. Anyway, it worked so I stood there in a corridor, invisible and with no idea what to do next. The DM rolled for a wandering monster and it came up with an invisible stalker. The invisible stalker proceeded to kill my invisible wizard. I understood nothing about what just went on and have been hooked ever since.

Right now, I am on vacation with sporadic internet access. I will post when I can and look forward to a great game.
