I know things are pretty busy already, but I'd like to throw together a Varisian Witch, doing my best to avoid the typical Slumber/Misfortune paradigm. The Cartomancer archetype seems thematically appropriate, but integrating the Harrow may be problematic in this format. Thoughts? I'll just go vanilla if it's an issue.
Somehow I missed this. I guess I was looking at avatars when scrolling through the comments. I love witches and I would be willing to research Harrowing in game. Feel free to work on a character or PM me with any questions!!!
I actually got a little excited as I just read the archetype. It would definitely be thematic in this game.

I have a backup archetype that will work fine, but the leadership feat is merely optional, but I'd still have a cohort that I think could tie me to the campaign well if he's a kidnapping victim of Gernard or whatever his name was.
I'm also willing to retrain out of that archetpye at my own expense later, I just really enjoy the feel of this character. Screw it, I'm writing him up. Maybe he'll find a home in another campaign if you won't allow him here.

Oh I have no intention of withdrawing, merely build two versions, he's academic who's got it in his head adventuring isn't that difficult. the class feature kid is straight out an apprentice and after gaining a level I can dismiss him as a failure or graduated. At which point I might refocus on combat studies a bit more instead of my scholarly pursuits and retrain out of the archetype, or start over with a new apprentice who could again become a level 1 commoner and I get him for several levels until I dismiss him. I like the idea of this being a scholarly professor type, I can also use the scroll master and scroll scholar archetypes for that general flavor though and I'm going to look into whether those can be stacked.

Thanks, but Asmodeus is a Lawful Evil deity. I'm not only trying to work out how and why a Tiefling would be there, which makes perfect sense given the deity, but to explain why he isn't evil.
Asmodeus may have a large temple in Korvosa, but so do Abadar, Sarenrae and Pharasma. Plus there's Korvosa's ecumenical cathedral, the Pantheon of the Many.
Maybe your non-evil tiefling was born to Acadamae security guards (being a wizard school with a strong focus on devil-binding Conjuration specialists, they employ an all-tiefling private guard on school grounds) who didn't want to spend his life cooped up in the college, looked down on by the snobby rich human students. Maybe he did want to work security, but Gaedren Lamm got him fired.

I only mentioned Asmodeus to make the point that a tiefling fits in Korvosa. Any race can be non-evil for any reason. Each individual makes his own decisions on how his life plays out. Hell...just play up his human side. He hates his demonic heritage. I didn't say worship Asmodeus just that there are full demons running around.
From their Pathfinder description:
"Despite their fiendish appearance and netherworld origins, tieflings have a human's capacity of choosing their fate, and while many embrace their dark heritage and side with fiendish powers, others reject their darker predilections. Though the power of their blood calls nearly every tiefling to fury, destruction, and wrath, even the spawn of a succubus can become a saint and the grandchild of a pit fiend an unsuspecting hero.

Nice Cal! I was hoping to see a Bard submission and your submission did not disappoint. Though...now you have me afraid that this character is cursed! Just kidding.
Not cursed, just been through a lot. :) If there's no need for clarification, I'll just lurk about until the decisions are made.
Good luck everyone.

Thanks, I like that idea. Especially since Lamn is an enemy in the game early on, yes I played part of the first book. His motive would be revenge, not to take him down for his crimes and whatnot. As I do plan on making him chaotic neutral. Going after enemies for revenge rather than because he is protecting others, stealing whatever he can get his hands on, thus rogue, and his Demonic side will explain why he is superstitious as I know there is psychic readings and stuff like that in the game. He is interested in the supernatural because he has the part to him. And born to Acadamae guards sounds good, but didn't want to be a wizard.

I think I am going to call a 24 hour deadline. I know there are still a couple of people who have expressed interest and are currently working on their characters. I will work with them if they need a little more time.
I am stoked about this campaign. The submission quality is outstanding! I plan to announce tomorrow evening or Friday afternoon and get the discussion going over the weekend. I would like to get the game started as early as Sunday afternoon (US time).

Instructor Archetype I really just need to know which one to work on, the one I actually want, or the other which still works but would be only a tiny bit less fun for me to play.

I would work on the one you really want and then you will have him if you end up in another campaign.

Going to throw in this character. It's rather late here so I'll probably write up his role play segment sometime tomorrow.
He's initially a swashbuckler, but I plan to multi-class into Magus pretty much immediately at level 2. Hopefully everything in his stats is in order.
Incase it wasn't obvious, he's going with the Framed (Dropout) backstory.

Born in the jungles but raised in the jewel of Varisia, Sarabor always lived as a humble fisherman, being raised by a small family in the coast. The half-orc wasn't particularly bright, intelligent, wise or skilled in the trait, but applied enough to be loved by his foster family.
The humble times were tough, but it paid off by the small moments of festivity. Sarabor loved the festival and drinks, quickly becoming a worshipper of Cayden Caylean. In one of these festivals, his strong arms caught the attention of the local militia, who started using him extra-officially to keep the city fights under control.
As he grew up, crime rates raised as well. Sarabor's family was one of the few to resist against the local crimelords and their absurd taxations of honest work. Finally it caught up to them: the merchant used to buy Sarabor's father fishes was murdered, and his father was accused of the crime. Another fisherman, however, knew the man was being framed.
Sarabor rushed against time to talk to the man, and luckily was able to appeal to his heart. At that night, in the docks, a crying half-orc hugged the man and asked him just for a name. "Lamm", he said, and hatred filled Shun's heart; a local crimelord, Gaedren Lamm. That disgusting vermin with his gang of "Little Lambs", children he forces into crime.
The half-orc was about to convince the fisherman to recant his testimony, when they were both ambushed. Sarabor managed to flee, but he knew he was the only one. There was too few hope for his humble father and the honor of his family... And such little hope was in the shoulders of the young brawler.

Apparently adding my 'Manius in Action' section to my profile doesn't work, so I'll just put it in this post.
Good luck to everyone!
“Yer free to go,” muttered the old jailkeeper, “But cap'n wants a word 'fore ya run off.”
“Splendid,” Manius exclaimed, leaping to his feet and jogging to the door. “Allow me to quickly thank you for your excellent hospitality,” he presented a gold coin to the surprised jailkeeper, “And the exquisite company I've enjoyed during my stay.”
“I'll tear out yer spine!” yelled the mad half-orc in the adjoining cell.
“I'll miss you too my dear Griselda!” Manius tried to stifle a giggle as he sauntered away from the cacophony of meaty fists on cell door and orcish curses being spat.
Finding Cassandra's office from the cells was not difficult, Manius had walked the route a couple times before, and he didn't bother knocking when he entered. Within his sister was filing some paperwork, and gave him an icy glance for the intrusion, though it melted when she recognised him.
“Little Green, do you ever knock?” she asked, removing her spectacles and settling back in her chair. Manius, quickly closing the door to ensure no other living soul ever heard 'Little Green' be uttered, gave her a quick shrug and sat down opposite her. “I know what you're thinking Little Green, but don't. Revenge for Variel is not a good idea. This Gaedran Lamm guy is bad news, even if he's a small player.”
“Pfft, the thought had not once crossed my mind,” Manius gave a single laugh, before looking around the room, “On a completely unrelated note, where's my sword? I get that back, right?”
Cassandra rolled her eyes. “Seriously, Little Green, you need to be careful. Mother's already worried enough about what father's going to do without you chasing crime lords around the Korvosan underground. Do you even know why this Lamm guy has it in for you?”
Manius reached over to the desk, tore a corner from a sheet of paper, took the ink pen, and calmly wrote 'Gaedran Lamm' upon it. Cassandra raised an eyebrow, put her face in her hands and sighed.
“You don't even know who he is, do you?” she stated flatly as Manius stared at the name and stroked his chin.
-----
Manius was drunk, more so than when the idea had hit him, but the plan was working. Probably. It was getting hard to tell what cards were what, but escaping without a distraction would be equally difficult. The assortment of criminals he was sharing the table with seemed inexplicably oblivious to the ruse so far, but a new player had just arrived – some old guy who seemed to keep a bunch of children nearby.
“Royal flusssh *hic*,” slurred Manius, clumsily placing the cards on the table. The assembled group groaned again as the half-orc retrieved his substantial winnings. He noticed that the old guy was staring at a card with some concern, and decided now was the time to retrieve the sack from his pocket.
“Hang on a minute,” the old guy growled, “these aces have their corners bent, and the kings have a little cut here... the cards are marked!”
“The hell? Where's Stephan? He's gave us a marked deck!”
Manius slowly slid his winnings off the table into the stack, whistling as innocently as he could. One of the other players shot him a dirty look, then frowned.
“Hang on,” the concerned gangster said, “Stephan said someone stole his deck. We borrowed one from...”
The table, as one, turned as Manius, his whistling rising sharply in volume, closed his sack and got to his feet.
“Well gentsssh, it'sh been... *hic* it'sh been a blassht but I have to go shee a man about a dogsh und shhtuff. *hic*!”
“Kill him!” shouted one of the assembled gangsters, jumping from his seat in surprise as Manius kicked the table over and hobbled with speed for the door.
“Ah bugger, that wassh a heavy table,” he moaned as he burst through the door. Looking to his left he met eyes with two burly orcs, who started to move towards him with saps at the ready. “Alchemisshht's *hic* Fire!” shouted Manius, throwing a bottle at one of the now fearful orcs, who grunted in pain as the empty ale bottle hit him in the side. Both orcs looked from the bottle to Manius, who was now hobbling towards the window that lay to his right, rapier now drawn. Manius took one last look towards the orcs and other assembled gangsters, who burst from the poker room with faces ablaze with rage, threw them a final rude gesture, and leapt out the window onto the waiting hay cart below.
“Took your damn time,” complained Variel, throwing a prepared glamer over the wagon and setting it into motion with a crack of the reins, “How much did you take them for?”
“Thissssh much!” Manius shouted victoriously, holding aloft the great sack of loot and quietly laughing to himself as he lay spread-eagled amongst the hay. Variel raised an eyebrow, then cracked a smile and returned to the work of guiding the horses.
“You're a regular Blackjack now, eh? Gonna give it to the poor?” Variel asked. Manius loosened the drawstring on the sack, took a handful of coins out, and threw them at some children they were passing.
“Sshhomethin' like that, I shhuppose. *hic* Probably gonna keep enough for another round at the tavern though...” Manius trailed off, before beginning to snore loudly. Variel rolled his eyes.
“Think you've had enough mate...”
------
“... Nope, I have absolutely no idea who that is,” admitted Manius, removing his gaze from the scrap of paper and putting it in his pocket. “Thanks for the name, though.”
Cassandra put her head on the desk and groaned.
“Little Green...”

I am overwhelmed by the submissions that I have received for this campaign. I know the work it takes to put together a quality character with a well developed background. I want to say thank you all for the effort you have put into this recruitment thread.
With that being said, I have spent the last forty eight hours scrutinizing over all of the submissions. I have looked at posting rates and character posts to get a good idea of how each of you play. I have also worked to put together a well balanced group mechanically. This means that I have had to chose certain characters due to their roles.
This evening I made a decision on who I think will be the best fit. I am pleased to invite the following characters to "check in" to the discussion thread:
Garvid Krein-Human Barbarian(Invulnerable Rager/Urban Barbarian)
Marial "Mouse" Redfist-Half-Elf Brawler
Manius "Orcsson" Archton-Half-Orc Swashbuckler (Inspired Blade)/Magus
Emilia Zorzi-Human (Chelaxian) Cleric of "The Lady of Graves"
Calcedon Andoricus Macarte Fordyce-Human Bard (Chelish Diva)
Silvio Slate-Human Unchained Rogue (VMC Alchemist)
Again, thank you all for your submissions and happy gaming! ~GM Mason
