GM Lithrac |
Good to see that you're back, Zel!
I wanted to take some time to address the posting frequency issues we've been having these past weeks. It has been a very hard time for me because of a hectic private life, so I haven't taken the time that this campaign should deserve. I've also seen that the lack of interest/time was not only on my side, though, and I've been wondering if people were still willing to take part in this campaign. Tangaroa wrote to me to express his continuing interest, now I would like everyone's opinion on that matter.
As for me, I must admit that I'm in a very busy phase in my life, and I'm not sure whether I have the time and motivation to continue "Shattered Star" or not. That being said, I'd like to make the effort if people show that they're interested and willing to continue!
If a few people aren't interested in going on but some others are, we could imagine taking replacements so that we have a 100% committed team. Let me know how you feel about it.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
I can honestly say that the only reason I haven't been posting is because I was away. I'm still quite interested.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Sigh. Another game falling off. 'Tis depressing, really.
I guess the thought is with 3 of 5 missing, we lack critical mass to find replacements?
Ramenhotep the Risen |
Sorry! I just noticed that this campaign disappeared from my page yesterday but didn't have time to track it down. I must have missed your post above. I'd still like to continue but if you are too busy to GM at the moment I understand that as well.
Ramenhotep the Risen |
Yeah! Super excited to dust off Ramenhotep. Well, he'll always be dusty but that's part of his charm appeal demeanor.
I don't know anybody offhand except maybe Signboy/Desmond or GM Rah. RyckyRych, Tektite, John Woodford/GM Carbide, and Mark Garringer are playing in my SS game (we just started book 4 this weekend).
Ramenhotep the Risen |
Thanks! Both take place in Varisia so I had been trying to find some way to bring them together for quite a while now. Then it fell into my lap when we started Book 4 and Sheila Heidmarch recommends they stop in Sandpoint to talk to a Varisian woman there who had some info for them. Perfect opportunity! I'm glad everyone had fun with it, it was a nice diversion. Maybe in 6-8 months when they're heading back to Magnimar the groups might cross paths again.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
I can think of a few players I could ask as well.. Just need to remember who they'd be replacing. :)
Ramenhotep the Risen |
I'd say we need another frontliner more than an arcane caster. Magi are too squishy to rely upon as frontliners.
Who said Ramenhotep was a magus? He's a Priest of Nethys! ;)
Pedwiddle |
Hey there, intrepid adventurers! GM Lithrac invited me to join this AP, and I jumped at the chance. We've done a number of PFS scenarios together, and I really enjoy his style.
So anyway...I hear there's a need for a full arcane caster? I'd be willing to fill that role, unless the other (as yet undetermined?) new player would prefer that to something more martial. I'm more than willing to play just about anything.
Ramenhotep the Risen |
Yeah, an arcane caster would be good. We also only have two pseudo-frontliners though so really you'd probably be fine playing whatever you want. We lack a rogue-type character too. Whatever you decide will fill one niche or another.
GM Lithrac |
As Ramenhotep says, we'd preferably need an arcane caster and a frontliner, but a rogue-like character would be welcome too. I'll let you come up with an idea.
Three people have been recommended by Zeltyieli and have contacted me for the last spot. One doesn't have any PFS character, another has a couple level 1s, so I'm going to give priority to the last of them who could use the credit. He is a player whom I've played with/GMed for on several occasions, and he's a great guy as far as I can tell. He would like to play a Thassilonian specialist, which would fit the AP perfectly. That would fill the arcane slot, leaving the frontliner one open for you, Pedwiddle, if you are okay with that idea.
Hralyk the Crooked |
This is Hralyk, the half-orc barbarian frontliner. Feel free to check him over and let me know what you think. He'll be switching to Oracle, then Rage Prophet, gaining spells (not trying to step on any toes, of course, just looking to provide out-of-combat buffs/healing) and utility, but missing out on some rage powers and other barbarianisms (still, hopefully keeping up with the face-smashing and other fun).
Ramenhotep the Risen |
I've seen higher level rage prophets in action. They can definitely still bring the face-smashing even with the slightly lower BAB and missed barbarian levels. Looking forward to it!
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
I'm still depressed that Rage Prophet isn't full BAB. But looks like fun.
I keep forgetting about the story feat thing.
Ramenhotep the Risen |
Ramenhotep is waiting for his vision from Nethys, lol!
I had my RotR pick an optional free Story Feat as well but I haven't gotten around to fulfilling them yet, although I would like to eventually (we're only halfway through book 2).
GM Lithrac |
Alright, we'll be able to resume soon!
Jordan, there's the matter of your traits. You're allowed two traits, one of these must be a Shattered Star campaign trait, from the Shattered Star Player's Guide. Please download it (it's free) if you haven't done so yet.
Also, I won't allow the Darkvision racial trait for elves, just like in PFS. I also don't allow any ability score to be lower than 9 before racial modifier. The character creation rules are on the first post of the Recruitment thread.
Finally, as I've pointed out earlier you can have a free Story feat (from Ultimate Campaign or Quests & Campaigns) if you'd like. It's a good way to find a tie-in or develop your background, which is very important to me. Additonally, you may pick a third trait if you take a drawback (again, from Ultimate Campaign or Quests & Campaigns).
Feel free to ask questions if you have any.
Hralyk the Crooked |
Not trying to overstep, but Jordan - could you clean up your character sheet? I still see everything the way it was before, with the 7 Str, darkvision, etc.
Jordan Andosano |
Paizo didn't save my changes, so I had to do them all again. I am working on my alias as we speak.
Changes: Story feat added -- nemesis
Stats fixed
Darkvision changed to low light and traits changed to add exchange agent.
Jordan is a Thassilonian Pathfinder member who ran afoul of a cabal of Thassilonian evil mages who specialized in evil/necromantic magic. He made an enemy with his fellow students after he left their order. He did not believe in the destructive nature and refused to learn the more violent magic they espoused. He has requested a transfer after joining the Pathfinder Society from his native Thassilon, but his enemies have the resources to follow him to the city of monuments and cause problems for him. This is my tie in to my story feat nemesis -- Jordan
Picked a drawback, but the trait I added, eschew materials for conjuration spells is more for story. Though I plan on saving on some shovels for create pit.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
GM -- would you think that the Fearless Zeal story feat would be appropriate -- (I can't see 'Tyieli as a prophet-type and as much as I love the mechanics of nemesis, the only person that would qualify would be his grandfather -- and I think that's a bit much...)
GM Lithrac |
Jordan, did you know that Thassilon is a human Empire (not elf) that existed 10,000 years ago and was wiped out of the face of Golarion by Starfall? Your background makes it sound like Thassilon still exists, and suggested elves were part of it.
Nowadays, Thassilonian specialists are usually wizards who found Thassilonian spellbooks or arcane rituals and self-studied to follow the same path to wizardry than the extinct wizards.
Here's an article with the basics about Thassilon. Please read it and modify your background to match Golarion lore.
@Tyieli: Sure, I think that could go well, especially with a faith as rare as yours.
@Hralyk: Everything seems fine, you're good to go!
GM Lithrac |
Of course, real life happens and we aren't able to post whenever we want. However, I would really appreciate if people gave a warning before disappearing and not posting for two days, so that we don't have to wait for you and can plan the best course of action for your character.
An AP isn't a small feat to complete, and will require from each of us to post on a regular basis. In my original recruitment post I asked all players to check in once a day and post accordingly. I stand by that requirement so that we have a chance to actually play the AP until the end in a reasonable timeframe (as Ramenhotep said, 6 months per installment sounds great).
Thank you for your understanding.
Ramenhotep the Risen |
Yeah, 6 months per book has been the average for my Shattered Star group (we are on book 4 and on pace to finish in 3 years) but that has required that everyone post at least once a day (and they often post more than that). Three years is already a long commitment but it will only be longer if the posting is slow.
Hralyk the Crooked |
Just sent Jordan a PM - he hasn't posted in the gameplay thread yet, so it won't have shown up on his campaigns tab yet. I know he's been on the boards, so I'm hoping that's all it is...
Jordan Andosano |
Jordan chose handle animal as his bonus skill with his trait. Buying a guard dog, I do not know which stats to use.
GM Blood had me use the riding dog stats and had it be not trained for riding. Pathfinder seems to have two choices, common dog or riding dog.
The forums seem to think it is a riding dog with a different trick selection.
Telka Beast-Talker |
He is a conjuration specialist (as well as sin mage). He receives summoner's charm, which increases duration by 1.
