Alayna Rochelle |
"Maybe I can get done what needs done?" Alayna pushes the blade of one of her daggers into the gap and well, no she doesn't. Instead she drops it to the ground with a loud clatter. "S%#~fire!"
Dex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Stuff it dice bot.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
Cameron rubs his broach for lunch before suggesting to Alayna, "Have another go, our luck can't be all bad..." 'Desna willing,' he added sotto voce.
He uses bit if luck. Alayna can roll ever d20 twice for one round. 5/6 uses.
Therric Morant |
Therric steps aside to let Alayna work on the door. He wanders over to Nessa and gives her an understanding look.
"I was kinda hoping to be of more help down here..."
Alayna Rochelle |
Squatting to pick up her knife, Alayna assures Therric, "Well, if the sleuth be true, we'll 'ave need a' ya."
She pokes around again, grateful for Cameron's help.
Dex: 2d20 + 4 ⇒ (7, 7) + 4 = 18
Str: 2d20 ⇒ (16, 18) = 34
Still it seems Desna is against this whole operation. "By Gorum's sack! I'll be fetchin' a' ax or lever, but this hatch is done bein' a' hatch!"
Cameron Hawkwinter |
HA! The dice roller is dead set against us getting in that way.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
Cameron strokes his chin for a moment pondering, before adding emphatically, "Apparently opening that door is not part of the Dreamer's grand design. There must be another way in, perhaps something hidden?"
He starts methodically looking, tapping the walls, pushing random bricks that kind of thing. Take 20 on perception looking for any thing we missed, like a hidden latch.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
Eventually Alayna's persistence bore fruit and the bar fell off with a dull thud. "Now that Alayna has opened the way it would be rude not to explore. I hope Desna doesn't object, this door was a stout opponant! Well let's see."
He whispers a soft prayer renewing the light spell on his spear, before entering cautiously. If there are stairs he will wait before his companions have caught up before moving up.
Perspective: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 = 21
Cameron Hawkwinter |
Cameron frowns at the dead-end corridor for a moment before suddenly tapping the wall with his spear pommel. He's rewarded with a hollow thud, "Ah ha!", he crowed, "It's hollow, and poorly constructed like the last door. There should be a latch somewhere. There see that stone in the corner? Pressing that should release the door."
Unless somebody objects, Cameron will open the door.
DM Lil" Eschie |
Damnit, my afternoon post was eaten by Zombies Kittens from Outer Space, again!
Perception, Alayna: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Perception, Natalya: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Perception, Therric: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Perception, Nessa: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Perception, Zahel: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Natalya and Zahel's attention is caught by something into the shadows of the bigger room.
A creepy, slightly high pitched voice resonate in the empty, dark place. It's Old Scratch, the imp!
What are you doing, at such a grim hour? I don't think you have the permission to be there...
Cameron Hawkwinter |
So who has the best bluff skill then? It might come to smiteage I suppose though...
Nessa Meretrix |
Nessa had was quite relieved when the door opened, she was about to go stir-crazy with inpatients. No sooner had they entered the bigger room than the high pitched voice spoke to them. She hissed as her blood boiled and said, "Devilllll, he can't be trusted not to rat on us, kill him."
Natalya Artemisa |
Care to explain why you're out of your cage..?
Natalya's left hand plays with a copper coin, the dull metal flashing across her fingers and knuckles.
Cameron Hawkwinter |
"A good question..." echoed Cameron who was undecided about how to approach this. He wasn't looking for bloodshed but there was a good chance Nessa was right, the Imp was bound by contract to Saul and would talk. The thing was even if they killed the evil old thing, Saul would more than likely come asking awkard questions...
Therric Morant |
Therric freezes. Uh oh. Think fast.
"Say, Ol' Scratch? Here's the thing--do you really even care? I mean, wouldn't it be funny if you let us on by so we can find out what Saul's been hiding from us behind his back? Or is there something that'll force you to get involved?"
Diplomacy...?: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
DM Lil" Eschie |
You can't really see where the imp is, as he flies in the big room, never staying in the same spot for too long.
And why should I stay in my cage, when you take some liberties yourself, entering by night a part of the Goblin you have no reason to be in?
He listens to Therric, maybe even despite himself, so powerful is the man's charisma
I could be open to negociations...But I've just been threatened to be killed by this half-breed..
The voice is colder, full of scorn
That can only rise the price you'll have to pay.
Therric Morant |
"Well, there is the fact that Saul's a crooked, lying man who's stealing money from the Goblin. And since he's the one who bound you here, I thought you might find it funny to watch him get in trouble." Therric shrugs.
"...but, what's the price you want for letting us pass?"
Therric feels his skin crawl with disgust as he tries to open up negotiations with this imp.
Therric Morant |
Therric sighs and puts a hand to his temple, rubbing it.
...where are you?
Using my detect evil ability to see where the imp is.
"Could you elaborate, please?"
Cameron Hawkwinter |
NB You need to concentrate for three rounds to pinpoint the source of evil. It's deliberately impractical for combat use vs invisible foes.
Cameron whispers into Therric's ear, "Psst. He senses Sarenrae's favor. It makes you and his kind implacable foes."
Zahel Greyhawk |
As Therric and Cameron continue to make the imp talk, Zahel discreetly reached for one of his extracts.
Uses a True Strike extract, trying not to be seen by the imp;
Stealth+Inspiration: 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (13) + 6 + (4) = 23
Natalya Artemisa |
Natalya glances at the paladin
Therric, the creature seeks to manipulate and twist, it will try to get as much as it can from the situation. You should give it nothing!
Her gaze roves across the room as the copper coin around her hand starts orbiting it without her even touching it now.
What the creature doesn't realise is that it is in the poorest position to negotiate; it being evil and a threat to us, our best and most moral option is to simply kill it.
She grins wolfishly
If I were it I'd have started bargaining for my life by now in the hope that good information will buy our good will!
DM Lil" Eschie |
The imp shows himself a little more, coming from the shadows, flying over your heads.
I want your word of honor that you will stay with me, and make yourself my prisoner. I can't stop you all, but you will be the living proof I've done my best.If you agree, the rest of your friends can go wherever they want. Of course you realise all that Saul will be furious when he will learn your treason...
The imp is some 10 feet over you
Hearing new threats the imp moves back to the darkness, near the back of the big room
Cameron Hawkwinter |
I guess it's time to murder hobo it :[
This clearly wasn't going to end well, the Imp's offer was unacceptable. Cameron wasn't particularly happy about it but, Nessa was right, there was only one way to deal with the evil old imp.
With a voice of iron authority, Cameron grinds out the words, "GET BACK HERE. NOW!"
Cameron spontaneously uses the Command: Aproach spell. DC14 will. If an AOO is possible, he'll take it.
Zahel Greyhawk |
Suddenly, Zahel threw the content of a vial at the imp:
Holy Water!: 1d20 + 3 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 20 = 32
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
Nessa Meretrix |
Nessa just about flipped her lid when the imp demanded Therric as payment for letting them go. She snarled back at the foul devil and said, "You can't have him imp" she made the term imp a vile curse with her tone, "he's already mine. You'll have to take him from me first!" Almost as soon as she finished Alayna turned on them, the fact the imp spoke to her and she did as she was told said more than words that she was being controlled somehow. She wasn't sure exactly what kind of magic this was, but she was sure it was magic. She decided that her best bet to help would be to try and stop Alayna so she moved quickly up to the woman and grabbed at her but the nimble woman eluded her grasp.
Spellcraft to ID suggestion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
CMB grapple: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
DM Lil" Eschie |
The imp get splashed by a vial of holy water, and shrieks in agony.
Nessa and Alayna starts a wrestling contest. It needs only mud, less clothes and a paying audience to be perfect.
Init, Cameron: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Init, Alyana: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Old Scratch (10)
Natalya Artemisa |
Frowning at the imp's manipulations, both verbal and now seemingly magically compelling Alayna's mind, Natalya grits her teeth and drops the coins she was holding.
Seizing one with her mind, it starts spinning edge over edge, then flashes forward, hammering in to the imp as it squeals in agony from Zahel's thrown water.
Telekinetic Blast: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14
bludgeoning/magic: 1d6 + 1 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 3 + 1 = 7
She then moves to the side of the room
Alas if Natalya only knew to use silver coins! ;p
Therric Morant |
Round 1: Actions
Free Action: Drop Scimitar
Move Action: Draw Dagger
Swift Action: Declare Smite Evil on Old Scratch
Standard Action: Throw Dagger at Old Scratch!
"Well, you heard the lady. No deal." Therric growls as he drops his scimitar and yanks a dagger from his boot.
"Sarenrae, guide my aim, and let my blades pierce the blackened, wretched heart of Asmodeus' own!" He prays, his weapons starting to glow with a golden light. He rears back and throws the blessed dagger at the imp!
Ranged Attack *Smite Evil vs. Devil*: 1d20 + 3 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 3 + 2 = 10
It flies over the imp's head.
"...oops."
Cameron Hawkwinter |
Seeing that Therric was aiming too high, Cameron darted forwards and at the critical moment nudged him, aiming to tip the scales of the cosmic balance.
Cameron uses bit of luck (6/6 used) on Therric, moving if needs be to do so. He still has his longspear and will take any aoo if Scratch's actions permit. Therric, you can re-roll that.
Nessa Meretrix |
Going to assume that my and Alayna's previous actions were pre-init. If not then I'll possibly change my action, or maybe not.
Growling in frustration at Alayna's elusiveness, and knowing that her working against the group could cause serious problems, Nessa tried to grab her one more time. But again Alayna proved too nimble for her to get a grasp on. This was becoming highly annoying, she'd never had this much trouble getting someone into her embrace.
cmb grapple: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Alayna Rochelle |
"Oi! The bugger said ta leave 'im be, no Geroff!" Alayna give a mighty shove pushing Nessa a bit further out.
Total Defense, keep Nessa's attention ;)
CMD increases to 20...have fun trying to get a hold of her now ;)
