Okay, I will be going with the Half-Orc, as it seems like a more combat style race. Everything will be the same as the previous post, here is the background, locations and NPC's.

Background:
Xianae was born and raised in a tribe of orcs. They were always fighting with other tribes and at a young age she was brought into the fighting. She was always good at fighting, but not as good as the others of her tribe, not until one day she managed to weaken her opponent and make herself grow double her usual size. After that she was respected by the tribe, but at the same time, she was shunned. They didn't understand her powers and were frightened, but they also liked to unleash her powers against the enemy tribes. One day she was out gathering food and returned to a destroyed camp. She decided rather than live on her own in the wild, she would go to the city and earn a living there. The first city she came across was Westcrown.

She worked for many months working as a guard at a tavern called "The Kings Arm". The owner was a Halfling man called Kiba Shiro, the man paid Xianae in food and lodging, but when a particularly problematic situation arises he would give her some extra money afterwards. Eventually she saved up enough money to get her own place, but she decided against it and it was not long before she discovered the group who wanted to free Westcrown.

She started to work with them, along with doing her job for Shiro and one day a member of the group came to visit Xianae, one Nedylene Illystin. She informed Xianae of a place that she could meet with other members of the guild in public. The old ruined temple of Sarenrae, this was a place that they kept their supplies and as a front they were working to rebuild the place. They have had an eye on Xianae for a while, she had the strength they were looking for and building of such a big build she could get away with looking like a worker. So she worked there, but also helped out by taking care of things for the group.

If I had 2 abilities that both granted a 5 Energy Resistance against Lightning, would they stack? I only ask because I still need decide what element I should have for my Dragon.

Obviously my background can be changed if you can think of any other locations that might fit in better. The spells too can be changed. I only whizzed through the Spell List in the Core Rule Book and Advanced Players Guide, but still have to look through the others. I am thinking of exchanging "Enlarge Person" to a more damaging spell. At the moment I have a couple of spells to weaken the enemies, but with such a low AC I can't see how growing in size would help much, I would just make a bigger target and die quicker. Will get back to you on the Spell Selection though.

Good luck everybody on being selected.

Edit : I have found the spell I will be exchanging "Enlarge Person" for, it is "Corrosive Touch". I think I will go with an acidic theme, a new element for a new style of character. Another reason I am removing "Enlarge Person" is that I am going to be doing an okay amount of damage in close combat already, so I wouldn't need to get any bigger just for more damage.

Alright, I have edited Basil's background somewhat, so that he does not step on the toes of Jo :-)

Let me know what you think.

Background:
Basil has no memories of his parents; from what he has been able to piece together over the years, his mother was a Human chorus girl in the Westcrown opera scene, and his father was a Half-Orc stage-hand with particularly brutish features who decided to 'have his way' with the pretty young thing after a late-night performance. After the event, the Half-Orc was captured by the town guard, beaten, and thrown out of town. A few months later, when it became obvious that the poor women was 'with child', she was placed in isolation for her confinement, and her bastard offspring was immediately handed-over to a local orphanage.

Basil's early years were harsh. He learned that he was considered to be less than human by many, because of his Orcish heritage, and that he could rely on no-one except himself. As he got older, he discovered that he could dish-out the punishment as well as he could receive it; deep within in was a rage and fury worthy of a true Orc, and when he let it out, it was difficult to control him. Things came to a head when, after being provoked by one of the other orphans, he nearly killed the boy. Filled with shame, Basil fled the only home he had ever known, and disappeared onto the streets.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it...), Basil turned out to have a knack for survival, and turned into an embittered street monster, too wary to readily accept aid from others, and perfectly capable of looking after himself, when necessary.

Eventually, he came to the attention of a recruiter for one of the clandestine floating pit-fighting leagues; although reluctant to join at first, it seemed like it had better prospects than a life on the streets (which, from personal experience, he knew was quite dangerous)... He lived from one fight to the next, bouts of rage and pain interspersed with periods of terrible ennui; he knew that there should be more to life, and dreamed of escape, but just did not know what he should do to make it a reality. The only occasional relief he received from this, was when he sneaked away in disguise, and watched a play at one of the more 'rough and tumble' playhouses - for a few hours, he was able to lose himself, and dream about what could have been...

...one day, however, he saw an altercation between a couple of actors, and some inebriated, disgruntled theater patrons. Basil immediately rushed to their defense, *vigorously*. Once the drunkards had been dealt with, the actors put in a good word with him with the theater company, and Basil was hired-on as a bouncer, heavy lifter, and occasional minor chorus member, when 'massive, brutish muscle' was required.

In some small way, Basil feels that he has finally come home. Certainly, he still runs into people from his old life occasionally (Gian-Luigi is still something of a thorn in his side, demanding that he return for 'one last bout'), but for the first time in his life, he is truly happy.

I have not made a profile yet, but will do if I get selected. Is there anything else you need to know about my character?

Cheliax

Basil, I think that works. It provides some other interesting potential ties too. Faelar, that should be sufficient. I'll plan to post selections later today or first thing in the morning.

Cheliax

We're going to add three. Faelar, please go ahead and wrap up Xianae. Emmett and Egder, you are also both in so go ahead and wrap up anything else you would like to work in for the characters.

Head over to the discussion thread once you are reaady.

Basil and Roman - I am sorry you were not selected this go around. If things change, I would be happy to re-contact you either in this thread or if you wish to provide me with an email in a spoiler.

Silver Crusade

Are there any more spots open? It doesn't appear so but no harm in asking, right?

Cheliax

Not currently Razida, but I will re-post here if things open up or you can provide me with an email in a spoiler and I will contact you that way.

Thanks for considering me, and good game to all selected!

Spoiler:

You can contact me at
vadim DOT hesin AT google's mail server :)

Thanks for the chance to play, looking forward to it!

Hello, we are re-opening recruiting for Council of Thieves. Looking for one player to join the existing four. Current group has a barbarian, a cleric, a melee-oriented sorcerer and a witch. Rogue would be perfect. Bard or Inquisitor might work. See the beginning of this thread for build guidelines. You are still required to create NPCs to tie yourself in. Feel free to be creative with your backstory, but within the last month or two, you have joined a group called the Children of Westcrown that is trying to create (mostly) peaceful change in the Cheliax city of Westcrown. Recruiting will close at 7pm CST on Tuesday the 21st of February.

I have applied with this character to your original group. In the end he got accepted into another CoT game, which got a kickstart but quickly died before we got out of the sewers. So now I'm retrying here again :)

NPCs:

Dagran Makedon - An elderly librarian, retired adventurer, who has a cache of illegal books on monsters, survival and combat techniques. Roman learned his skills from these books. It was he who introduced Roman to the Children of Westcrown, through some secret connections of his.
Ruhnama Kazbek - a female Tiefling, who was rescued by Roman from the shadow beasts. As a favor, Roman asked her to teach him Abyssal language. They used to meet almost every day, until Roman started to notice signs of affection from her. Afraid of his own feelings towards her, he ceased these meetings.

Locations:

Westcrown Library of Foreign Literature - a tiny library, barely tolerated by the authotities to serve as an example of free thinking allowed in Westcrown. Dagran works here under.
Dancing Shadow Inn - a bar near Roman's house, where he used to come after surviving another night outside. The bartender here suspects Roman leads an illegal double life, but he doesn't like the city laws himself, so would not voluntarily give him up to the authorities. His evidence would be heavily implicating Roman under harsh Westcrown law.

Cheliax

Welcome back Roman. Any chance you would consider shifting him to a less melee orientation or toward Rogue or Bard? We've got a pretty strong front line.

Osirion

I submitted Basil Kettering (a Barbarian) last time - I thought I would modify his background and submit a Rogue (Thug) 2 instead :-)

Is it still a matter of submitting a Level 2 character?

I would like to submit Byron Radanavich, a NG Half-Elven Rogue(Thug) 2 for consideration :-)

Background:
Byron has no memories of his parents; from what he has been able to piece together over the years, his mother was a Human chorus girl in the Westcrown opera scene, and his father was a visiting Elven Tenor, who decided to have a dalliance with her after a late-night performance. Of course, the affair was hushed-up, and the Tenor was politely (but firmly) shown the gates of the city... A few months later, when it became obvious that the poor women was 'with child', she was placed in isolation for her confinement, and her bastard offspring was immediately handed-over to a local orphanage.

Byron's early years were harsh. He learned that he was considered to be less than human by many, because of his Elven heritage, and that he could rely on no-one except himself. As he got older, he discovered that he could dish-out the punishment as well as he could receive it; deep within in was a chilling rage and fury, and when he let it out, it was difficult to control him. Things came to a head when, after being provoked by one of the other orphans, he nearly killed the boy. Filled with shame, Byron fled the only home he had ever known, and disappeared onto the streets.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it...), Byron turned out to have a knack for survival, and turned into an embittered street monster, too wary to readily accept aid from others, and perfectly capable of looking after himself, when necessary.

Eventually, he came to the attention of a recruiter for one of the street gangs; although reluctant to join at first, it seemed like it had better prospects than a life alone on the streets (which, from personal experience, he knew was quite dangerous)... He lived from one job to the next, cracking skulls and breaking legs, as his was bid. His life consisted of bouts of rage and pain interspersed with periods of terrible ennui; he knew that there should be more to life, and dreamed of escape, but just did not know what he should do to make it a reality.

Byron immediately rushed to their defense, *vigorously*. Once the drunkards had been dealt with, the actors put in a good word with him with the theater company, and Byron was hired-on as a bouncer, heavy lifter, procurer, and occasional minor chorus member, when 'massive, brutish muscle' was required.

In some small way, Byron feels that he has finally come home. Certainly, he still runs into people from his old life occasionally (Gian-Luigi is still something of a thorn in his side, demanding that he return 'to the brotherhood'), but for the first time in his life, he is truly happy.

NPCs:
Gian-Luigi 'Hellstalker' Prominos
Gian-Luigi is a giant bear of a Tiefling, whom Byron knows as the chief enforcer of the Hellcat Brotherhood, and with whom he has something of a love-hate relationship. Over time, they have grown to respect one another's battle prowess, but their lives outside the Brotherhood could not be more different - whilst Byron mourns what could have been, Gian-Luigi revels in his Fiendish heritage, and spends his life drinking and wenching.

Sergeant Mathos
Sergeant Mathos is a drill instructor for the Dottari with whom Byron had more than a few run-ins with in his childhood. However, over the years, Mathos has come to grudgingly respect the way the 'Half-Elf wretch' has found a vaguely useful (and moderately legal) way to spend his existence. Whilst not exactly friends, they do meet-up every so often and share a few beers, whilst Mathos 'checks-up' on how Byron is doing...

Locations:
The Second Flute
A small theater in a rather run-down section of town, The Second Flute nonetheless manages to put on a string of fairly respectable shows, year round; they need to, as the audience has been known to throw substantially more dangerous things than rotten food when they do not like a performance. Byron attends performances when he can, and occasionally moon-lights as a bouncer, so that he can be closer to the actors who provide a spot of calm in his turbulent life.

The Quarrelsome Imp
Outwardly a condemned pub, The Quarrelsome Imp is the headquarters of the Hellcat Brotherhood. There is a large central room where rank-and-file members gather to eat, drink, and wench, but the building has other purposes, as well - torture chambers for information extraction, and appraisal rooms for fencing goods.

Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know :-)

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I was thinking of submitting a character, but I wouldn't want to take away from Roman, who is a quality player from what I've seen. I highly recommend him.

Cheliax

We'll add two. Roman and Byron, head on over to the Discussion tab and introduce yourselves. All of the characters are headed to the safe house right now. Let's plan for you characters to be there when the arrive. Jo will not know you. You should be passingly familiar with Coran, Xianae and Emmett.

FireclawDrake - thanks for your interest. Perhaps we'll play in another game.

Thanks for picking me, Lictor Lane!
And even more thanks for endorsing, FireclawDrake :) very much appreciated and the feelings are mutual.
I'll be happy to switch Roman over to a more stealth/ranged-oriented build. In fact I feel it will make him more consistent. Please allow a day or two for me to tweak the build and read your game.
