Silver Crusade

Congrats everyone! You've completed your First Steps!

I'll report the scenario to the Gameday leadership tonight. It may take a little while to be reported to Paizo. Chronicles will be posted here (as PDFs accessible through Google Docs) sometime tomorrow. If it helps in the meantime, you do receive 1 XP. 2 PP, and 417 gp (halved for slow track).

If anyone wanted to attempt any Faction Card checks, or has questions about whether or not they completed a task, let me know.

Unless there's significant objection, we'll continue to use these threads for Wounded Wisp. We'll get started as soon as the majority of you post (with your new character where applicable) that you've completed any shopping, leveling, etc. and are ready to go. IC roleplay in the gameplay tab is certainly welcome in the meantime.

The Exchange

Male Human Ranger

Thanks for running this. And I, at least, appreciate you finishing up the last fight quickly. I think that it had outlived its amusement factor :-).

I'll be continuing to play Shallya but I may tweak him a little. He needs more perception :-).

Dark Archive

Human Omega God Level

Hmm, I'll try out my sorceress Tavagra next. Thank you for the session.

Silver Crusade

Thanks for running!

This will push Molos up to level 2, so I'll be bringing a different character for Wounded Wisp. It'll either be Boon Sai Hong or my Shelyn worshiper whose name keeps changing. Both have 2xp already, since they're rebuilds of previous characters, one of whom I had actually played once, and the rest is GM credits.

Silver Crusade

Chronicles are here.

Let me know if anything needs fixing.

Silver Crusade

I may be a day or two getting the stats for another PC for Wounded Wisp entered into the system. I only created them on paper, not on Paizo's web site.

Dark Archive

Human Omega God Level

Me too

Silver Crusade

Not a problem at all.

Silver Crusade

Male Human Warpriest 2 | HP 20/20 | AC 18, T 12, FF 16, CMD 17 | F +5, R +2, W +5 | Init +2 | Perc +2, SM +6 | Speed 20ft

Molos will be replaced by Varg on this adventure. So you guys get to meet my two ugliest PCs, which is ironic, since I frequently play high charisma types (2 sorcerers, 2 paladins, an oracle, 2 clerics, etc).

PFS #: 38137-10

Any other info needed before we start?

Dark Archive

I kinda wonder if I should drop out or something... I mean, Wounded Wisp has lot of opportunity for roleplaying, but I'm gonna miss most of that because of timezones it seems. I guess I could just switch character to one that is bit more useful in combat, but I'd still miss most of the stuff

I'll be bringing a different character as well. When are we looking to start this shindig?

Silver Crusade

As soon as everyone's got a character up and ready. So far Varg's the only one confirmed to be ready.

Silver Crusade

That's four ready. We'll open up the IC tomorrow, while we wait for the others.

Tavagra, if you could include your skills that would be great.

FYI, I'll be going on an unexpected business trip this week, so I may not be able to post much Wednesday through Friday. I should be able to check in once per day, but it might not be more than that like I usually do.

Aye, this is my last week of classes for the semester, so I'll post, but they might be brief.

Dark Archive

I'm being busy with school stuff as well so lot of stuff in my mind

Silver Crusade

On my business trip now, so checking in from the hotel in the evening. Might not get to post much the next couple of days, but I'll be home by the weekend.

Dark Archive

Ah, sorry missed a lot of stuff and-

...Wait, is that a bat swarm? ._.; Well crud, I don't have any splash weapons so I can't actually help in anyway X-x;

Silver Crusade

Varg just offered to let anyone reach into his backpack and pull out an acid flask. What we really need is some better damage rolls. So far, we've done 3 HP damage on 3 attacks. The attacks that hit directly are doing the same damage as the ones that miss.

I am at a convention this weekend. Might not have a chance to post until Monday.

Silver Crusade

I should probably explain Varg's motivation here, since I haven't gotten around to coming up with all the details of his back story and putting it in writing yet.

He used to be a criminal. As a kid, he was bigger and stronger than the other kids, but he wasn't a bully. In fact, because he's so hideously ugly, and not very bright, he was the target of bullies, at least when it came to taunting. Because of his size, it never got physical.

As he grew to be a hulking teen, he was recruited to be a street thug, and he went along with it because he was dumb and easily duped. One thing led to another, and he ended up taking the fall when a criminal enterprise went badly (this is among the details I haven't decided on yet), and he ended up spending 20 years in jail.

That's where he found religion and decided to join the priesthood. Since he was in Taldor, where Sarenrae (the usual redemption goddess) isn't openly worshiped, it was the clergy of Shelyn who showed him the light. Realizing he wasn't well suited to preaching or creating great works of art, the other priests convinced him that using his physical prowess to fight the evils of the world was where he could do the most good. So he went along with becoming a warpriest, despite truly wanting to find everyone's inner beauty and help redeem evil people, rather than killing them.

But that's why he's VERY cautious about going into this house where he's obviously not wanted. He doesn't want to be a burglar. He's a good guy now, not a criminal. The last thing he wants is to do something obviously illegal, whether he gets caught for it or not. He might not be intelligent, but he gained quite a few wisdom points during the 20 years he spent thinking about his past mistakes while in prison.

Silver Crusade

The sincere innocent goodness came through quite strongly. It was why Shallya backed off earlier when fooling around with the disguise.

Do you as a player object if Shallya tries to manipulate Varg (ie, use bluff or diplomacy). I try to only ever do this with player permission (I just realized that I didn't actually get this when I earlier did the disguise thing. Should have done so. Sorry). If you don't want me to that is absolutely ok with me (some people find it fun, some hate it).

Silver Crusade

That's fine. Play your character the way he'd normally act. Varg may be wiser than he was 20 years ago, but he can still be duped. That's part of the charm of the character.

I do want to train him in Sense Motive next level, though. It's a class skill and definitely appropriate for the character, along with knowledge: religion.

But he only gets 2 ranks per level, so I couldn't take all 4 skills that I plan on training for him up front. Diplomacy seemed like highest priority, to make up for his ugliness (7 charisma) with a friendly personality. Though given his background, Sense Motive may actually have made more sense at 1st level. And his religion literally requires having a craft or perform skill - clergy of Shelyn are expected to do something artistic every day.

Silver Crusade

One of my favourite bits in Pathfinder Unchained was the Background Skills. More or less mirrors a House Rule that I instituted about 10 minutes after 3rd edition was released :-). Seems to be very common in the recent PbP games.

Note that craft skills can be used untrained so technically one could still do something untrained without a rank spent. That is only a fiction I'd ever use if I just couldn't afford the skills that I wanted at 1st level.

Silver Crusade

He'll have all 4 of his key skills trained by level 2. I'll probably never put a 2nd rank in the craft skill.

The problem will be trying to keep diplomacy, sense motive, and knowledge religion all trained with only 2 ranks per level. I can't even use my favored class bonus, since I'm using that to get 1/6 of an extra combat feat every level. I'm actually thinking sense motive may become his best skill.

Silver Crusade

Just FYI, I'll be travelling on vacation for Thanksgiving weekend, leaving tomorrow morning. So I won't be able to post as much the next few days.

Dark Archive

Blargh, I keep forgetting to post when I'm awake because so much school work and exams and stuff X-x; Plus I miss most of action anyway when its night here

Also, aww man, we did the property damage? :'D

Dark Archive

Blargh I seem to keep missing details

Anyway, this "Close the door" tactic reminds me of how group I run First Steps for dealt with imp: they took the box, run out and closed the door xP

Dark Archive

Human Omega God Level

I'll do a spell craft check on all three later today. Can't access my info right now.

What are the rules for shooting "from" cover?

Dark Archive

Male Half-Elf Summoner 1 | HP: 12/12| AC: 15 (12 Tch, 13 Fl) | CMB: +1, CMD: 13 | F: +1, R: +2, W: +1 | Init: +4 | Perc: +1, SM: -1 | Speed 30ft | Summon Monster 5/6 | Spells: 1st 1/2| Active conditions:None.

I don't think they would have cover against you.

You pick a corner of your square to shoot from. If any lines from that point to any corner of your target's square cross anything that provides cover they get the +4 AC.

Combat

I was more or less thinking of rules for me shooting from cover.

Silver Crusade

Basically, it's the cover rules linked above by Wailan. Yellow has no cover from you. You pick a corner of your square (NE in this case). From there, you can draw a line to every corner of his square with no interruption, so he gets no cover bonus.

If he were to shoot at you from his current position (noting that he's currently armed with a sword and shield), repeating the same procedure on his end means at least one line will cross through the pillar, so you'd get cover.

GMT +2(so two hours after London's time)

Anyway, crap, had exam stuff today so was preparing for those stuff yesterday so this slipped off my mind X-x; At least school stuff is mostly over now so I don't have school work overloading me as much.. But the game is close to end as well so yeah :'D Blargh

Silver Crusade

The end is near, people! We've still got this fight and then a bit of denouement, but now's as good a time as any to get cracking on the paperwork. I'll try to have chronicles ready pretty much immediately after scenario content concludes.
