GM Lari |
I've cleaned up the top of the thread a bit, moving the old maps into the "Campaign Info" tab.
For those who haven't heard, PBP Gameday V has been announced!
In the first session, I'm looking to run a Core table of Sky Key Solution. If you guys aren't sick of me yet and want to play with a different character, I'm open to tier suggestions.
I'll also be looking to play in Classic, so if you're planning on running, I'd appreciate a heads up.
Chris Marsh |
I've done sky key 3 times so far. Totally not sick, but I've got to preserve my bamdwidth.
Selkania |
Hi guys, I will fly to the US tomorrow.
Don't hesitate to GMPC my character.
I hope to be able to resume my usual posting once arrived.
I will also GM - a lot - at GenCon. My ability to post will be scarce during these four days.
Serithial |
I'm with you Selkania. Check the Immortality thread, we'll catch up in Indiana!
Sorry guys, I'm still swamped until after the con.
Vaughn Elliot |
Purchasing a +1 dagger should be 1,340 with the double discount, leaving 460.
I'll pick up 2 pots of CLW (at a 20% discount that's 80 gp) leaving 380 pocket change. I'll keep that on Gift Certificate, Mr. Sajak. Edit: actually, I had some money already, so I'll also get a breast plate (holding out for mithril yo).
Swarmbane clasp: since Viv, Selkania, and Ray cast spells, it seems the clasp would best go to Vaughn, Seri, or The Doc.
Natural armor: probably Vaughn, Ray, or Seri is my first thought.
Cloak: anyone!
should we cast lots for these 3 things?
Vivilaas |
I certainly wouldn't mind a cloak, especially as my Con and Dex are on the skimpier side. My AC is also at 'hits' level at the moment, and while I am coming up with ways to address that more beyond staying in back, I think if we were to keep the amulet it would matter more with someone where that 1 might make the difference.
Vivilaas |
Mind if I think on that (with decision before we go back down below)? I can and currently am wearing armor, though better ones would be a balance between expensive vs always-on.
GM Lari |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
If you're going to the warehouse first shopping decisions can wait until after. You might have some more cash to play around with.
I ran the sanctioned portion of book 4 this weekend for some local players getting ready for the new retirement arc. Be grateful none of your fellow players decided to play a gnome. Gnomes who like to push buttons are potentially more dangerous than any enemy the authors can throw at you.
IC update tomorrow.
Serithial |
I'm offline until Monday the 8th due to Gen Con starting now. Sorry I couldn't make a super awesome post first. I apologize for my spottiness over the last few weeks. When I return it'll be with a vengeance! (If I'm the GM, I apologize in advance for my "vengeance".)
Serithial |
Hey everyone, I'm sincerely sorry I've been MIA. My flight home was affected by the Delta outage, and I'm really far behind on real life responsibilities. I'm back now, and will be back to posting. It'll be slowly at first, but by next week, it'll be normal, and the week after it'll be my abnormally fast self. Please bear with me, I promise to be back.

Vaughn Elliot |
This might matter for our current combat: who is getting the cloak, amu, and clasp? I'd like to have amu (I'll dice off with someone). Others ..we'll see!
Serithial |
Hey guys, I'm sorry I've been MIA. Still trying to get some gaming time in. I fully and completely endorse Vaughn to bot me. I promise my commitment hasn't waned at all.
Vaughn Elliot |
I'll do you right. In fact, I have a good idea for an opener...will post this evening (6 hrs)

Housekeeping Things:

I think this is the first time we've run into Plasma damage, but it will become pretty common. It's half electricity, half fire.
While it should only ever make a minor difference, if there's ever a case where it matters which one is the majority, it'll be in the attacker's favor. 3 Plasma damage on someone who resists fire would do 2 electricity, for example.
Serithial |
Hey everyone, just a heads up, I'll be completely offline from Thursday night until Sunday night. I'm running 3 legs in a relay race that spans more than 200 miles. We run non-stop, so I won't be in any condition to post or check the boards until after sleeping in on Sunday.
Serithial |
Originally I was going to have Seri take a couple of levels of Archeologist bard. This was in anticipation of exploring cool whatnot, but I feel like he spends more time getting killed to death...
Thoughts?
Serithial |
Or even fighter?
Archaeologist doesn't grant me Bardic Performance, so I can't inspire courage. Instead I get a bunch of swift action buffs. I DO get a slew of skill points and a tiny bit of spell casting.
Serithial |
Actually.... maybe ranger? Favored enemy construct?
Serithial |
Soooo GM, what do you think of the Galvanic Saboteur?
I think it's actually an excellent flavor fit.
GM Lari |
Lots of stuff below, some of which I may have already shared.
General leveling up note: Once your crunch is ready to go, please post to let me know.
Seri Character Options Galvanic Saboteur sounds like a pretty solid option. Robots are generally (always?) intelligent, so the Reprogram ability will generally be taking the -4 penalty, and there may occasionally be plot specific reasons for it not to work in certain circumstances, for the record.
As written, it gives Arcana as a class skill. I'm fine to replace that with Engineering (which is used for IDing most constructs you'll encounter), if you don't already have it as a class skill.
Skimming over the Archaeologist, my initial reaction was to wonder if one of the various Investigator archetypes might be a better option, depending on what exactly you're looking for.
Everyone's Character Options Now that we're entering the mid-levels, some of the builds that take a little while to pay off are probably starting to come into their own. That said, if you do want to retrain your character, the first good opportunity will be coming very soon (see the next note down). If for whatever reason you're deeply unhappy with your character, let me know and we can figure out options to fix it or retire and replace the character.
Endgame While we've been near the end of this book for a while, unless things go horribly wrong, the next adventuring day should wrap up the encounters in this book, though wrapping up plot stuff may take a bit longer. We'll do a big accounting/treasure resolution at that point.
Chronicle Sheets: This chronicle sheet is for levels 2-4, and grants 3 XP, 4 PP, and 3711 GP. The later books are tiers 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 13-15, and 15-17. If you're interested in putting these on a character who really takes advantage of the tech you're gaining access to and don't mind a bit of delayed gratification, my plan is to put this chronicle sheet on a brand new character, held until the character becomes in-tier. Sheets 2 and 3 will be reduced to slow track level 1 credit, so that I ultimately have a level 3 character with access to a bunch of tech stuff, and an uninterrupted PFS career until level 11.
General Note on Book 2: The first book was pretty linear, working your way from the cave entrance to the level you're currently on. Lords of Rust will be almost the complete opposite. You'll have a lot of options to explore, but you'll also learn the location of the BBEG almost immediately. While I'll be adjusting and removing encounters along the way, the pacing will be directly in your hands.
Serithial |
Yeah, I've been chewing on some investigator stuff too. Really I want to embrace (mechanically) his curiosity and a generally happy-go-lucky nature. I like the suggested house rules, so I'll probably take it.
I too have a dedicated number for this character, and will likely be handling it the way the GM is.
I'll be leveled to 4 by tomorrow morning. (Do we need to update the amount of money we have and treasure to sell/use? I want to embrace the tech since it's so rare to actually use.)
"Doctor N" |
I'm all leveled up now.
I have second level spells now; I picked up Aggressive Thundercloud (it's basically electrical flaming sphere) and Burst of Radiance (my favorite spell for a number of reasons). Options are heavily limited by my opposition schools.
In terms of skills, I am now trained in all knowledge skills and I put extra points in spellcraft to work towards technologist
Serithial |
I'm done on my end. In order to keep track of everything (I had some bad math, and repeatedly forgot about things I could do) I'm going to reformat my character tab. I should be ready by noon tomorrow.
Serithial |
FYI I'll be slow to post until Monday as I'm out of state for a wedding.

Vivilaas |
Sorry for the delay: Viv should be good to go!
Also, the failed encounter with the gearsman has jogged something in her memory as she slept and grew, She's using those fragments of a past life to know Shocking Grasp today.
Serithial |
I'll admit, wealth got away from me, so I don't know if there's anything I want to do in town.
GM Lari |
I know many of you are already in multiple games with me, but I've got a couple Gameday tables winding down, so I've decided to run the new evergreen. If you're interested, check in here: From the Tome of Righteous Repose

Hey Lari--my apologies but I forgot my monk's level is 4, not 5 (already posted this in the thread). I could only play this at the lower tier.

Dang, I wanted to run with Bodta...
