Dunkel winces as he sees Doubtful take a beating, but he sees little option besides continuing to swing his axe.

Yay! I saw the 1 and groaned! So a reroll there is hopefully well timed!

On the minus side ... I read back through all the posts, and I miscounted my Ki usage... I was off by one... that last round was my last one, I've no more! 8(

On the plus side, I don't have to worry about what to use it on now =)

Doubtful continues to fight in sync with his fellow dwarf, though his quick movements seem to have slowed, and is bleeding from numerous wounds. He seems almost spent.

5' step and flury. No more ki, so AC is back down to 23

"Don't wanna get ate." He mutters, between breaths.

Flury1, flank, bless: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20, for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 damage.
Flury2, flank, bless: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24, for 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 damage.

The laws of dramatic finishes say that Doubtful falls here, Dunkel gets paralyzed, but then Amiri finally breaks free of her paralysis and comes in for the finishing blow... ending it where we started...

Dunkel's axe cuts a deep gash, as does one of Doubtful's punches. The ghast is looking quite battered now. Still, it pushes on. Another bite brings Doubtful into unconsciousness, allowing it to turn its claws on Mr. Diggerson.

Suddenly able to move again, and seeing her colleagues either unconscious or paralysed, Amiri roars in anger, and charges forward, attempting to gut the ghast!

"Time to die!"

Amiri leaves only small bits and pieces of ghast in her wake.

Once you've all had an opportunity to recover, you find a magical belt and a magical cummerbund amidst the ghast bits. There is also a chest, filled with 10,000 silver pieces. There is an inscription on the lid.

I don't have the inscription text in front of me right now, but I'll post it when I do. If Amiri had missed there, things could have been quite bad indeed. In the meantime, there's only one door left. So it's time for Dunkel to do what he does best!

Yes I did. In that case Dunkel/Doubtful did drop the ghast, which means there's no ghoul fever to worry about. Yay!

The dwarf's eyes flutter open, as Jair tends to the worst of his wounds.

"We all ghouls now?" He mutters.

He looks around, confused for a moment, then stares at Jair for a long while.

"I don't think I want to eat you..." He says finally, though doesn't look entirely convinced.

"But maybe it takes a while." He adds, examining the worst of his wounds, though unable to tell if their infected or not (but assumes they are)

Heh, like Dunkel's not all over his digging opportunity.

GM: can we make an estimate of how long it might take? Perhaps Jair and Imrana can rest, while the dwarves work if its going to take a while.

"I'll probably be a ghoul tomorrow." He replies morosely to Jair suggestion of resting.

But its clear by the look of him, that rest is exactly what he needs.

How long it takes is largely up to Dunkel and yourself, actually, but 3-4 hours seems like a good baseline. Mechanically, everyone participating will make a Constitution check. Dwarves get a +2 bonus from Stonecutting (as does anyone with a burrow speed, but that's fairly hard to do in Core at this level range). Doubtful and Dunkel both have relevant Craft/Profession skills, so you can roll those as well to grant everyone a bonus from increased efficiency. More people working also makes it less difficult.

As for damage, it should have been 28 damage + 8 (Imrana), +10 (Doubtful) +15 (Dunkel) for 61 damage, which would have killed the ghast (57 hp)

Shorter post than I'd like, bit it's a holiday!

Dunkel wipes the sweat from his brow but buries his axe deep into the undead's forehead, "just to be sure".

As it comes time to dig, Dunkel's eyes brighten up like a child during gift-giving around a winter hearth and he puts aside the trauma from nearly facing his death along with his allies.

"There there, coz. Nae t' worry 'bout ghouldom, ghastdom or anything like that! Less jess idle our minds away t' th' task o' diggin'!"

He pats Doubtful on the back and presses a pick into his hand.

"Shoulda known I'd end up using one of these again." He mutters with a sigh.

He lets Dunkel play supervisor, though it quickly becomes clear that he knows his way around digging tunnels as well. He's just far less enthused about the activity.

"Probably just digging our way into more ghouls."

Happy to not dig Jair continues what she starts at the beginning of the mission, writing their findings on paper.

Silver Crusade

Through the combined expertise of the dwarves, Amiri, Doubtful, and Dunkel make rapid progress. In under an hour, the path is cleared.

As usual, reality lives up to Doubful's expectations. An exceptionally gaunt ghoul remains in the room. If you'd like to roll this combat out, I'm happy to do so, but I'm pretty confident you can dispatch him quickly.

Once he's gone, you see this small chamber reeks of filth and rotten meat. A heap of coins and other valuables lies piled in the middle of the room. The largest item in the pile is a gem-studded copper sphere. Though completely motionless, the light on the sphere seems to flicker and fade like a desert mirage. The coins cover a wide range of dates, but are all from the Age of Enthronement (1 AR-4606 AR, the time between Aroden's ascension to godhood and his death).

With nothing more to see down below, you're able to make your way back to the surface, and before long, back to the Grinning Pixie. VC Benarry is delighted to see you.

"You made it back! Did you find the Orb? Tell me everything!"

Imrana flips through her notes for anything that sticks out to her. She flips through, starting at the end and moving back to the front, saying things that stick out to her as she sees her notes.

"Prepare for undead...swarms...strange curses...cannibals. Just go go with what we found. There may be other types of challenges deeper down, though."

"So there's definitely more deeper n' there, n' ah' can get ya a sweetheart o' a deal t' get that dug out!"

Dunkel unravels several scrolls.

"Normally ah'd recommend a 12x16 t' get tha' deep, but this season we've got ah special on 12x20's. A right proper tunnel that is, jess enough fer three dwarves wide in fightin' poses!"
