The name doesn't ring a bell to Ary, but she stops what she's doing to go bring one of her extra canteens into the room for them. "Well, at least there's one good thing to be found here." Ary says with a small smile, offering the canteen to Isilme, then, once more, returns to her work, now more focused on getting the two crusaders buried before the child sees them.

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

In the room where the lockbox was:

DC 20 perception (Isilme/Valaria) in D6:

Inside the drawer of the desk is another copy of the Acts of Iomedae. Most of its pages have been savagely ripped out. A small piece of paper sticks out of the pages, that was apparently used as a bookmark - it is a small drawing of a human family - a man, a woman, and a smiling baby girl.

On the back is scrawled a note: Yaniel misses her Grandpapa. Come visit us soon. Love, Margaery.

WRONG ALIAS

Isilme helps Fenton drink slowly from the canteen, not letting him down too much at once. "Once we free you and finish searching here, we will take you back with us to the edge of the worldwound. We have an encampment there. I do not know what has become of Ser Yves, but we will do all we can to locate him."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (5) + 26 = 31

In D6:
Isilme gently places the book in the chest with the remaining loot to look at later. Perhaps they could find out who these people were and return it to someone for whom it would hold sentimental value.

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Fenton's eyes go wide when Ary enters the room to offer Isilme her canteen. His eyes follow a familiar path - her sword, to her shield, to her face.

"You're Chevalier Bishop! Oh.... wow! It... it's an honor, lady knight." he says, amazed.

He nods to Isilme, beaming. "Oh... thank you. Thank you, so much."

WRONG ALIAS

Assuming that Anevia or Val free him, I'll escort Fenton back to the main room.

With the halfling freed, Isilme helps him up carefully. She looks him in the eyes, crouching down and places one hand on his shoulder. "I am not certain how much combat you have been in Fenton, but we need to go back to rejoin the others and continue searching the area before we set out. I would suggest not looking about any more than you need to until we have left."

Leading him, she heads back towards the main chapel with him, trying to keep him focused on walking. When they arrive, she introduces him to the rest of the group. "Stay here with Ehren and Xanderghul until we return."

She then heads out to resume their search of the remaining rooms.

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Fenton follows Isilme back into the chapel, and waves at Xanderghul and Ehren. "Hi. I'm Fenton. What are your names?" he asks. He looks around at the destroyed chapel with some interest. Assuming Ary has moved the corpses to the courtyard by this point

Then Isilme, Valaria, and Anevia head to the remaining building that they haven't explored, the stables. The sharp tang of musty, decaying straw fills the building. The easternmost wall has collapsed into a steep pile of broken beams and rocks that block the way to the other side. A large mound of discarded weaponry lies amid the rubble.

Most of the weapons there are broken beyond repair, but a few remain servicable - a masterwork cold iron battle axe, a cold iron longsword, three cold iron daggers, and a cold iron longspear.

WRONG ALIAS

With Anevia's and Val's help, Isilme carries the weapons back to the others to decide what to do with them. "Take the knives Val?" she asks, offering them.

"So what shall we do? Should we head back? We will need to get there quick for Bethil's sake."

Ary nods. "Just a few things left. I don't expect anything... special to happen. But it's certainly worth a try. The sword that should be in the altar is gone." Ary says, scooping up the skull, rotting flesh, and maggots in one movement, using the purple drapery as a means of transportation. She ties the top off before taking it out to the side door and dropping it. "We should probably burn that, given how vermin work around here." she adds.

Then she moves back over to the altar and draws Radiance, her mouth twitching slightly at the sight of the temple, as her eyes move across it. She takes a step forward and lines Radiance up to be slotted into the altar and completes the shrine, in the hopes that maybe something will happen here, before they're to move off once more.

Val winces as the door swings open and reveals the prison. In retrospect, she should have considered that this was possible, but she hadn't been thinking about it. She swallowed hard as Anevia freed the lad, watching as Isilme and Ary comforted him. They seem to have an odd tendency to find youths in places that no one wants to find one. "Ah, yes." She takes the extra knives and tucks them into one of her pouches. At the very least she can hang on to them in case she loses a knife somewhere. "It wasn't exactly who we were looking for, but at least we saved one person here."

Ehren helps Ary clear the chapel of corpses, dragging the numerous ghouls out into the courtyard. Naturally, he takes care to leave their bodies far away from Bethil's. He kneels by her side for a moment and murmurs a brief prayer. He wished dearly that he could have done something to save her, but he was not so foolish as to believe that her death was his fault. Not anymore. Perhaps that is why he makes no comment when Xanderghul brutally stabs the cultist woman to death. With that done, the druid stops in the chapel to take a rest, leaving the exploration of the rest of the building to the others.

When Ehren first sees Fenton, he blinks, thinking him a child, and then a halfling, before realizing that he was both. He forces a tired but genuine smile before answering. "Hello, Fenton. My name is Ehren, of clan Ferron."

Seeing Ary approaching the altar with Radiance, Ehren watches with interest, wondering what she might be thinking.

Loot Book Keeping:

The following things go to Ary:

  • Bone Whip (3 lbs). This item is too sharp to place in a BoH, and therefore must be worn at her side, or at least strapped to her pack.
  • Masterwork light cross bow (6 lbs-> BoH)
  • A masterwork backpack (4 lbs -> BoH)
  • A healer's kit (3 lbs -> BoH)
  • Masterwork manacles (3 lbs -> BoH)
  • Unholy silver symbol of Kabriri (1 lb -> BoH)
  • A battle aspergillium (4 lb -> BoH)
  • Nulkineth's light steel shield (6 lb-> BoH)
  • Nulkineth's key (BoH)
  • 3 Unholy Water (3 lb) (BoH)
  • 30 potions of CLW total (BoH)

Ary's Bag of Holding now has 0.25 lb remaining of carrying capacity.

The following things go to Valaria:

  • Potion of fly
  • Potion of nondetection
  • Nulkineth's Breastplate (30 lb -> BoH)
  • Healing supplies (75 lbs, equivalent to 250 charges of a healer's kit) (BoH)

The following things go to Xanderghul:

  • Spellguard Bracers (1 lb) - currently unequipped
  • 250 gp in silver powder
  • 6 potions of CLW
  • The Lymirin Discourses (3 lbs)

Loot Document updated.

Please note that the strong box is too heavy for Ary to pick up and place in her BoH. it does not fit in either Ary nor Valaria's BoHs, they are too full. It would break Ary's masterwork backpack, though it would fit in a mostly empty masterwork backpack. Ary could carry it and stay at light encumbrance, but she would need to carry it by hand.

Strong box weight calculation: A small iron strong box (25 lbs) containing: Gold & Silver (90.74 lbs) + A tattered copy of the Acts of Iomedae (1 lb) + A little pouch containing a beryl and 3 opals + A golden holy symbol of Sarenrae (1 lb) + A chain shirt (25 lbs) + A cold iron dagger (1 lb) + a narrow cloth flag depicting the insignia of Mendev (1 lb) = total of 114.74 lb

If no one picks up the strong box, it will be left behind.

---

Ary places Radiance inside of the altar and... nothing happens. Away from her touch, the blade is dull and inert - the altar despite being cleaned off continues to pulse with foul necromantic magics, which while not harming the heroes directly, does fill them with a sense of dread when they are close to it.

"Hello, Ehren of clan Ferron," says Fenton. "Hello, Master Vengeance," he adds to Xanderghul, cheekily, with a grin. His smile vanishes, as he thinks of his master knight. "Ah. Ser Yves is not with you. But he must be somewhere, out there, I'm sure of it!"

Anyway, when you're ready to go, once 2 more people say they wanna go we will go. I'm assuming you're walking back, unless otherwise stated.

"We'll need to make three stretchers." Ary says, "At least." as she pulls the sword back out of the altar, and wipes it clean with her cloak. She's quick to step out of the circle, Anevia is firing force arrows at the ghul - disappearing and reappearing each time another glowing arrow is launched at it. Once her fun is done, she collects her arrows to be mended - if able. "What are we going to do with the bodies of the priests? I don't think we should just leave them. I don't suppose you guys found anything in the stables in the form of a wagon?"

WRONG ALIAS

"Ehren, do you have the ability to alter your form still today? If you were to take the form of a large eneough animal, you might be able to carry the corpses back. With triple time and a bit of hustling we could be back fairly quickly and still bring everything along."

Megafauna (huge) animal form nets +6 strength for 16, and huge quadriped is x6 total carrying capacity for a total of 456 light or 918 at medium encumbrance.

Ehren frowns at first, his immediate thought being that whoever Ser Yves is, he was more than likely dead. Still, for Fenton's sake, it seemed more kind to harbor a little hope. That was the least he could do. "I'm sure that we will find him, sooner or later," he agrees with a nod.

He looks back over to Ary, watching her draw Radiance back out of the altar. Evidently, whatever she had tried to do did not work. Curiosity nagged at him, but her question was a more pressing matter.

"Yes, I haven't changed form at all today," Ehren replies. "I should have no trouble carrying the priests... and Bethil."

Clipping on his new bracers, Xanderghul gives a small grunt of satisfaction. "Could pile up something flammable and burn the bodies. We should probably do that anyway."

Ehren nods. "Well then, if we're ready to leave for now..."

The druid makes his way back outside, distancing himself from the desecrated altar. He briefly considers what form to take before settling on a horse - with his strength restored and his ant haul spell in effect, he would be more than strong enough to carry the bodies.

In a blur his body changes shape, becoming that of a stocky brown horse with a shaggy mane. Deprived of speech, Ehren snorts and whips his tail side to side expectantly.

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

"Oh, wow that's so cool!" says Fenton in amazement when Ehren transform into a horse. His face falls when the heroes work together to place the three corpses on his back. "Oh... oh no... Ser Yves...Wene...." His eyes well up with tears and he starts to sob.

Ary frowns. She had hoped that it wasn't Sir Yves... but it just made sense. She moves over to the halfling and silently picks him up, the chest under one arm, as she lets him lie against her shoulder, cushioned by her cloak.

WRONG ALIAS

Isilme sighs when Fenton identifies the corpses as Yves and Wene. "My apologies Fenton," Isilme says, "This is more than anyone should have to deal with. We are going to make certain that they are properly taken care of once we return to camp."

She stands next to Ary, rubbing Fenton on the back reassuringly. "We will be in our encampment soon, and you will be able to have some time alone then if you wish."

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Fenton silently sobs into her cloak for awhile, and is quiet most of the trip back to camp. By the time they reach the camp at the base of the cliffs, the sun is already setting. Ary drops off the chest at the command tent to be kept with the rest of her effects.

Eveth Johnson is crestfallen to find Bethil dead, but she is thankful that the heroes brought back her partner's body. "I'm glad we'll be able to bury her outside of the Wound," she says. "Her body deserves peace, just as her soul does."

I am giving you a chance to speak up in case you have something further to do this evening. Otherwise we can just move on to tomorrow morning.

Once at least 5 of you check in and say you're ready to move on to tomorrow, we will

WRONG ALIAS

After they return to camp, Isilme takes a moment to find Sosiel. Taking him aside, she inquires about the bodies they'd returned with. "Sosiel, All three of the crusaders whose bodies we returned with were likely attacked by ghouls. Is there anything we can do to ensure that they rest peacefully?"

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Sosiel thinks for a moment before responding, "Sanctify Corpse would protect the bodies from raising... Sister Soba and her clerics will convene in prayer once the stars are in the sky, they could pray for guidance from the Spheresinger for them. Would you like me to ask them?"

Unable to speak, Ehren hangs his head in remorse when Fenton verifies the identities of the deceased. He had meant well, but perhaps it would have been better to prepare the boy for the worst.

"I'd best see that those supplies get to the healers," Ehren remarks to Valaria. Noting his wounds and everyone else's, he adds, "Then again, I imagine that we are all heading in that direction anyway."

On the way back, Anevia talks about how when she's a superhero, like everyone else, she's going to be able to see through Xanderghul's illusions with ease... once she arrives, she opts to look for a quartermaster, to see about finding a replacement bow. She'd let Irabeth worry about fussing over her wounds, later...

* * *

"Yeah, I agree we should go see some healers, and try to divvy out some of the things we're carrying. If we do something like that again, we might not be able to bring it all back." Ary says, moving along in the intended direction.

She spots Isilme having already rounded up Sosiel, and nods, "We're also... rather wounded after the adventure and were hoping to get tended to a bit. There's a chapel out there that we'll need to go consecrate tomorrow as well, if we aren't pressed for anything else to do... it's not strategically significant, but... I feel like it's something we should do. A damaged church is one thing, a desecrated one is a whole other story."

Later, while going through their spoils, Ary discovers the book haphazardly thrown on the top of the lockbox. She frowns, wondering why it was in the box of valuables - it had once been, but now...

As she picks it up the sheet of paper falls out of the book, and when she stoops to pick it up, she smiles slightly at the human family. A touch of what had been. She gives a long slow sigh as her gauntleted hands run along the edge of the paper, before turning it over to look at the back and pausing. She stares at it a few moments, before sliding it slowly back into the book and drawing Radiance out of its sheath. "Are... are you like Isilme..?" she asks, incredulously.

When they arrive back at camp, Xanderghul has a few chores to complete. First, he goes to Irabeth. Withdrawing an unstrung bow and the attendant string from his haversack, he hands it to her. "We found this weapon while ago when we killed... some enemy. It doesn't matter." He taps it. "It can light arrows fired from it with holy power, but only if you channel the power of a god through it. I have been looking for an appropriate ally to give it to, but unfortunately there is only you." he says. He looks her in the eye, sincerely. "I hope you use it well."

Then he goes back to his tent to scribe some scrolls.

I think I can scribe two scrolls of protection from evil using 25gp from my scribing supplies during the night. I also want to conduct another Vilareth raid if we are going to stay at least one more night, and will want to know whether some stealthy m$%~*!%*%~+#s can come with me before I prepare spells in the morning. I need two plus Ehren, and the BoHs like last time.

Valaria is very quiet on the way back from the village. She, understandably, seems extremely exhausted after the battle and having part of her life force drained. She helps with unloading the bodies and recaptured supplies, then quickly finds her way to the healers to see what the can do for her. "Yes, I think that's a very good idea," she comments as she helps Ehren carrying the supplies to the clerics.

Val is probably a good option to help with another stealthy raid, though what are we after this time? Just trying to disrupt them? Stealing more supplies?

"Not to get ahead of myself, but we could always restore Sleekrun as a whole," Ehren suggests, wishing better for the desolated little hamlet. "If it was a waystation before Drezen was lost, then it can be one again once Drezen has been reclaimed."

I'm not sure sure how valuable another Vilareth raid could be (I thought Isilme and Valaria took pretty much everything), but since I'm the ride, I'm not going to veto anything if we want to go for it. If we're not going, then Ehren is done for the night, in any case.

More supplies plus burning the rest of their stores.

I doubt we stole everything. We stole three days' worth of supplies for our own army, if I understand correctly. We want to get positive food gain for this delay, not neutral or negative. We need everything we can get.

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Any other thoughts on whether or not you should go for another vilareth raid?

Hinagiku: You are the only PC without a masterwork backpack, do you want it?

Irabeth smiles at Xanderghul, accepting the bow. "Thank you. I'm not as good with a bow, but I do have the best teacher there is."

"'slong as it's not cursed," Anevia mumbles, still a little cross from their last outing.

---

Ayavah, as usual, is among the first to greet the party when they return. She hugs Valaria, then, noticing how hurt she is, grabs her by the hand. "Oh gods, to the medical tent with you," she insists. She, Valaria, Ehren, and Ary head to the medical tent - a large canopied construction lined with beds and filled with their best healing supplies. They find Isilme already there, talking to Sosiel.

Markus is delighted when Ehren and Valaria bring him the healing supplies. "Wow, you really found a lot of supplies. This will help us conserve our magic a great deal, as well as offer options for when injuries are so severe that magic isn't enough... thank you." He then leaves to gather up enough clerics to work together, channeling away the party's wounds.

Sosiel smiles at Ary when he brings up re-consecrating the chapel. "Of course. As a priest of Shelyn, I would love to come he-"

"Did someone say we're cleaning up a chapel?" Annabelle pokes her head through the flaps of the tent, cutting him off. "Oh! Oh! I want to go. Please? Can I go? Commander? Please?"

Markus frowns. "Fifteen miles is a long way under the sun, Annabelle, and you can't ask them to disembark at night for your sake."

Annabelle rolls her eyes. "Oh, c'mon, you'd need to bring a wagon with tools and stuff anyway, I can just hide in the wagon - please? Pretty please? I've. Been. So. Bored."

Ayavah adds meekly, "Perhaps I could come, too? I'm pretty good with stonework... and I would love to help..."

"YES!" Annabelle wraps an arm around Ayavah - squeezing her a bit too tightly thanks to her unholy vampire strength - the tiefling winces a bit. "You should absolutely come!"

--

Later that evening, Ary finds the ruined copy of Acts of Iomedae. She glances at Radiance, who doesn't respond to her question - just an inert sword.

Book keeping:

Valaria drops off 75 lbs in healing supplies to Markus, and nulkineth's breastplate to the quartermaster

Xanderghul drops off his mwk spear at the quartermaster.

Isilme takes time to find the Desnan priests, and Sister Soba in particular. When she does, Isilme gives the priestess a smile and introduces herself. "Sister Soba, I am Lleuad a'r Ser, servant of The Great Dreamer, though most call me Isilme. I apologize for not having come to visit you sooner, I was aware we had priests and priestesses of my Lady Starsong in the army, but things have been too hectic to find the them lately. Perhaps one of these evenings I could join you all and have you recount some tales of your travels? It would be a joy to hear of the sights you have all seen."

After introductions and pleasantries, she turns to business: "On a more serious note, we have returned from our trip to Sleekrun with the bodies of three crusaders, Bethil and two others who had been captured there. They are likely to have been tainted by ghouls or worse during their time there, and will need to be consecrated as soon as possible, so we can bury them. Would you be able to arrange for their bodies to be consecrated? Perhaps we could also set up a small cairn to mark their burial place and to serve as a shrine to our Lady Starsong. If we are successful in our mission, I imagine many more will be making the trip to Drezen along this path."

When she finishes up speaking with Sister Soba, she takes a moment to introduce herself to the rest of the Desnan crusaders, reiterating her suggestion that they spend some time sharing tales of their journeys some evening soon.

Excusing herself, Isilme heads to visit Duke, stopping by to ask Fenton if he would like to come along. "I know you have a lot on your mind, Fenton, but if you feel like it, perhaps you could come along with me. I have to visit Duke, along with all those who fled Fort Vilareth. We will be traveling for some time still, and getting to know those who you will be sharing the journey with makes it easier."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (18) + 25 = 43

Assuming Fenton comes
She takes Fenton around to meet the various children from Fort Vilareth, hoping he would find some friends among them. Isilme inquires of them about Duke's whereabouts, and when she tracks the cat down, makes an offering of meat to Duke again, hoping to soothe the cat's ire about having been abducted.

Handle Animal(Untrained): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

"This is Duke, Fenton. Duke had been living in Fort Vilareth amongst demons and cultists, but we managed to save him. He has been a bit cross with me about it, but I think secretly he's happy to be back with the people he knows," she says with a wink. She pets Duke a bit and encourages Fenton to do the same.

While the loss of Ser Yves was still fresh, the nature of what was to come for the army made Isilme feel it important to broach the subject of Fenton's place with the crusader forces. Giving him something to focus on, work to do, would likely make it easier for him to handle the battles that were coming, and keep him from feeling useless or out of place. Still, it was a delicate subject, so after sitting with Duke for a bit, Isilme broaches the topic carefully. "Fenton, given that we will be on the march for some time to come, would you like if I arranged for you to stay with the civilians from Fort Vilareth, or if you prefer I could attempt to make other arrangements, such as staying with one of us for the time being. Additionally, if you wanted something to focus on, I am fairly certain I could find someone for you to work under to continue your training."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (13) + 25 = 38

My main worry with another Vilareth raid is getting in and out. If there were some way we could come along with Ehren and infiltrate underground to the supply room, that would make life significantly easier. Without that getting in and out without being seen is going to be very difficult, and we should be conserving MP at this point. Relying on MP for super-invis is too costly when we still need dimensional anchor

Sister Soba smiles. "It would only be right to return the favor, after you have entertained us so many evenings with your own tales. It is a pleasure to formally meet you, Chevalier. This is Wynne," she says, introducing a young woman with messy auburn hair and hazel eyes. She appears to be of kellid descent. "And Ju," she gestures to a round woman with very dark skin and coarse hair cropped short to the scalp. She wears an elegant blue and silver and robe. "My fellow travelers under the stars."

"That is a good idea - this would be a great place to set up a wayshrine. We'll be sure to pray for guidance tonight. You should join us," she offers. "If you aren't otherwise busy, of course. We need to treasure these last few nights we have under the stars before we cross into the Worldwound."

The other children are friendly towards Fenton - but also extremely curious - they had never seen a halfling their age before. When Isilme finds Duke, he rubs his face and body along her boots, his tail held high up in the air and vibrating. He's initially cold towards Fenton, but after awhile he finds the right place to scratch (right along the base of his tail) and soon he is curled up alongside the halfling, purring.

"Yes... I am very sad that we have lost Ser Yves... but I cannot let a setback hold me back from being a knight. Thing is, I don't know who would take me. I tried very long and hard before finding Ser Yves... no one wanted a halfling squire, you see. I can't carry as much stuff as the other squires, and I'm slower, too. But Ser Yves said he saw something special in me," He sniffles, his eyes welling up with tears again. "I wish I were grown up already. Perhaps.. perhaps then I could have saved Ser Yves."

"We can make it a family affair, then." Ary offers. "It won't be exceedingly safe for Annabelle, so if a larger enemy appears, we'll have the added worry of defending the cart itself, but... we should bring Aron as well if you'd like. He can assess the overall structure, if he's not busy with maintenance here."

After separating out what was and was not particularly useful to the group from her own bag, Ary takes the time to deliver it to the quartermaster as well, and from there goes to check on their various prisoners, to ensure they're being treated well... and have not escaped.

With the Desnans
"It is a pleasure to meet you both, Ju and Wynne. I will endeavor to return this evening when night falls," she replies with a smile. Perhaps it would be worth speaking to Valaria to see if she would be interested in joining, she thinks as she heads off."[/b]

With Fenton

"That is an excellent attitude, and quite a mature one for your age. You may be smaller than most of the other squires, but that you remain composed and calm after what you have been through is something that cannot be taught," Isilme says to the young halfling, impressed that he was handling the loss so well, and that he still held on to his dream of becoming a knight. "As far as wishing you were older, let me share something personal. Near the start of the crusades I was not in the form you see before you now. I was a celestial, a kind of Azata called a Raelis. One day I came upon a mother and her child who had been captured by cultists and the demon Minagho herself. I thought my age and power sufficient to save the child, but I was wrong, and I died making that mistake."

"Having lived well over a thousand years myself, I can tell you now that age does not mean you will have the power to save those you love. No matter how powerful we are, there will be times when we falter, and there will be people we cannot save. Nevertheless, I have not given up doing what I can to help others, and I strive every day to be there for those who need me."

"Realize that, were you older and more powerful, you still might not have saved Ser Yves. The important thing is to do what you can in your power to right wrongs, to stand for those who cannot stand for themselves, to use your freedom and power for the sake of people everywhere. And when you fail, do not falter. Take time to think upon it, admit your failings where you recognize them, and work harder to be there for the next person who needs you. Ser Yves knew that, and he would want you to spend time working to be strong enough to defend whomever might need your power in the future, instead of lamenting your lack of power in the past."

Perform(Oratory): 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (9) + 24 = 33
Or diplomacy if that's more relevant for inspiring him, would be 35 then

She gives Fenton a pat on the shoulder and smiles at the halfling. "Of course the first step to achieving that is becoming a squire again," Isilme says with a wink. "Let me see what I can do. I know there must be quite a few knights here who would happily take you on."

Later, as Evening falls, Isilme drops by to speak with Val before heading to visit the Desnans for prayer.

"Val, I am heading to join Sisters Soba, Wynne and Ju. We are going to pray for guidance and possibly work to set up a wayshrine here for future travellers coming to Drezen. Would you care to join me?" She turns to Ayavah Assuming she's there and extends the offer to her as well. "You are welcome to come along also, Ayavah"

Finally back! Anyway, no thanks for the backpack, Hinagiku has a small bag in which she carries her belonging and would rather not have more. Finally, I am not fully convinced by the raid, mostly because their forces must have noticed that we stole the food and they will be on guard… which makes it dangerous. If we go, we need to find a way to detract their attention from the food.

At the church
When the fight ends, Hinagiku’s first reflex was to go check on Ignigena. After propping her head up a bit with some clothes, the monk had quickly returned inside, intent to come start cleaning the church. And, although she passes Xanderghul on her way back inside, she does not realize his intent. Instead, she starts placing the ghouls in a peaceful position for their now eternal rest. Only after having taken care of three of them does she notice Nulkineth’s new neck wound. At first, she doesn’t make the connection, but it suddenly dawns on her that Xanderghul was the most likely to have done so, and that he was now alone with Ignigena. With a suddent jolt, the monk stands up and races outside, only to meet the shabti on his way back. She looks into his eyes. No anger, no disappointed, only sadness that the wizard had to endure such acts. And so, she welcomes him, placing a hand on his back and walking back inside to take care of the remaining ghouls.

When Valaria and Isilme come back from their investigations, with the small Fenton no less, Hinagiku approaches the boy and introduces herself as Daisy.

Now…ish
On their way back, Hinagiku remains silent. Although she eyes the young Fenton every so often, in case her seems receptive to some consolation. The remainder of the time, she is focused on the horizon, watching for enemies which might come from any directions.

Once they arrive to the camp, Hinagiku gives her condolences to Eveth. Then, after helping to unload the loot and bring it to the healers, Hinagiku watches the others for a while, and once she is healed, she thanks Sosiel and leavers her companions side. She was clearly not needed here right now. And so, with her duties in mind, she walks deeper into the camp, although not before quickly eyeing Ehren one last time. Funny thing how even an exhausting day such as this one could be made much brighter by the presence of as ingle person. And maybe she would even get to discuss plays with the druid before he went to bed. the monk mused as she made her way towards Chaleb’s tent.

Val chuckles as Ayavah greets them at the edge of camp, but can't help a wince as the other tiefling hugs her a bit too tightly given her wounds. She shakes her head. "I've been worse. Not a lot worse, but worse." She finds a place to collapse for a few minutes in the healer's tent while the group talks. "You're welcome to go along," she assures the other tiefling. "And I think there are a few defaced statues of Iomedae that could use someone skilled with statuary to take a look at."

Later in the evening

Val tries to keep work light, not wanting to aggravate her condition when she's still weak. But her eyes light up when Isilme approaches her in the evening. "I haven't worked on a shrine in ages. I would love to come along and help."

With his wounds healed, Ehren helps the clerics unpack and sort the medical supplies, claiming only enough of them to refill his own kit. He feels an old pang of envy as he works, lamenting the loss of his own healing magic. Things might have gone differently if he could call on such spells whenever he needed them, as he could before his first death. But he knew better than to linger on those thoughts for too long. Catching Hinagiku's eye, his frown turns into a smile. After their last talk, he did not want to show the slightest hint of wavering resolve.

Once he is done there, he heads back to his own tent, recalling that he still had a message to send to Silvershore. In the wake of the chaos caused by Nurah's seed of discord, he had entirely forgotten to send the one he had already written. But that was just as well. In the time since then, he had come up with a better idea. Why send a written message when he could have it delivered in his own voice? The druid briefly meditates, preparing the spell that he had in mind.

Afterwards, Ehren retrieves a small morsel of food and heads for the edge of camp. Holding the meat out in between his fingers, he murmurs in Druidic, eyeing the skies for an appropriate target. Fortunately, they were not yet in the Worldwound proper, otherwise it would be next to impossible to find any normal wildlife at all.

Ehren will prepare and cast animal ambassador on whatever bird he can find.

Looks like you guys are against another trip to Vilareth. Will move forwards once everyone else is ready...no rush.

Book keeping: The masterwork backpack goes to Anevia.

@Ary

Ary finds Lurog still under heavy guard within the camp. Nurah is still inside her stone prison. They have both been taken care of. Nurah no longer needs food or water, thanks to Isilme, and the ioun stone even provides light within her prison to use to read. Lurog is being given food and water regularly. He doesn't make much conversation with his captors, spending most of his time seemingly asleep.

---

Isilme, Fenton

Fenton listens to her tale with amazement. It seems to distract him from his own sadness... he stops crying, at least.

"You... you'd do that for me? Wow... thank you so much, ma'am. I promise... I promise I won't let you down! I'll be the best knight ever! Even better than Chevalier Bishop! Even better than Yaniel!"

----

@Isilme, Valaria

Isilme, Ayavah and Valaria join Sister Soba and her priestesses in their prayers for the evening. They move away from the main campsite to an area a little more private (and open), and once the sun has set enough to reveal the stars in the sky, they dance together. "Daughter, Stranger, Thrush, Wagon," recites Sister Soba softly, her eyes fixated above on the constellations as she recites their names. Far from the structured services of the Iomedaens, Desnan worship is a more personalized affair, which each worshipper deep in their own thoughts during the dance. Ayavah doesn't know any of the names of the stars, but she's an inquisitive learner... she asks questions often, and tries her best to follow along.

Afterwards, Ayavah remarks to Valaria, "You know, you've never asked me to come worship with you, when you always come help me in my worship. I liked that...it was nice. Relaxing. I'd like it if you invited me along more often."

The procession continues off and on for an hour, at which time the clerics have finally finished preparing their spells. Afterwards they gather the corpses and bless them, warding off any evil that may befall their bodies. Markus leads a quiet ceremony for them at camp, and many crusaders come by to say their respects, holding candles.

Fenton is among the last to pay his respects. "Goodbye, Ser Yves," he says, softly. "I'll see you in Heaven, someday."

Afterwards, Valaria and Isilme help the Desnan priestesses construct a wayshrine. They haul a large piece of stone from the left over rubble from the tunnel construction, and carve Desna's holy symbol into in the center. Underneath they carve - Bethil, Ser Yves, Wene - This is not an ending, but the start of a new adventure.' Then they dig out graves for the three crusaders.

By the time they are done, it is rather late at night, and they are exhausted.

Hinagiku finds Chaleb doing some weapon and armor maintenance outside. He smiles and waves at her when he sees her coming. "Hello, Daisy."

Ehren, through a combination of spoke druidic and his bait, manages to attract a gyrfalcon. It perches on his wrist, when Ehren's spell suddenly gives it human-like intellect. "Cad é do ordú, Archdruid?" he asks, in a masculine voice.

Druidic:
"What is your command, Archdruid?"

Isilme takes her time during the worship period with the Desnans, enjoying dancing under the stars. It had been a while since she had truly taken the time to relax and offer prayer to her Lady Starsong. By the time they are finished, Isilme finds herself in an excellent mood.

After the memorial for the three crusaders, Isilme takes Ary aside. "Ary, have you considered taking on a squire? Fenton is eager to resume his duties as a squire, and I believe he would do well with someone to push him to be the best he can be. If you are interested, you should speak with him some."

If you don't want Fenton, I will talk Irabeth into taking him on as a squire ;o

"Deonaim duit mo ghuth agus an teanga choiteann. Iarraidh mé duit eitilt go dtí an sráidbhaile ó dheas anseo." Ehren pauses, suddenly reconsidering who he should send the message to. His initial thought had been his cousin Mera, but he did not know how much weight her words might hold. He instead thinks to the village's clan-lieges, knowing that they had the final say in how to heed his warning. Impulsively, he speaks the name of the one who had left the biggest impression on him. "Faigh an ceann ar a dtugtar Arthugh Carreg-Fedd. Déan é sin i gcás inar féidir le daoine eile tú a fheiceáil, más féidir leat. Inis dó dá bhrí sin: beidh na Crusaders ag dul siar go luath ó thuaidh. Tá an dá cheann níos cumhachtaí ná na cinn a chríochnaigh muid roimh. D'fhéadfadh a sráidbhaile a bheith i mbaol. Nuair a éireoidh linn lenár misean, ba cheart an bagairt a laghdú."

"Téigh anois, le luas."

With that, Ehren releases the gyrfalcon, with the hope that it could at least convince the village's leaders to exercise caution. And should the worst happen, that the people would flee rather than fight to the death.

Druidic:
"I grant you my voice and the common tongue. I bid you to fly to the village south of here."

"Find the one called Arthugh Carreg-Fedd. Do so where others can see you, if you can. Tell him thus: the Crusaders will soon march further north. All but two of the demon armies have been defeated. Those that remain lie to the west, one at Vilareth and the other at the mouth of the canyon. Both are more powerful than the ones wef ended off before. His village might still be in danger. When we succeed in our mission, the threat should be abated."

Valaria allows herself to get lost in the ritual, letting her mind drift away from her tired body and contemplating the stars above them as they dance. Despite the exertion of the ceremony, she feels lighter than before they started when all is said and done. "I guess I thought you wouldn't be interested," she admits when Ayavah breaks the silence. "I should know better than to make assumptions like that I suppose. You're more than welcome to join in whenever you like. Desna is the wayfarer, so she usually accepts those who are just passing through as much as her dedicated followers." She grins a little. "And I enjoyed dancing with you."

The service turns somber as they prepare the graves, but she can feel that the spirits of the crusaders will be safe on their journey to the other side. "Desna and Pharasma watch over them on their way..." She takes one more look at the sky and can't help a yawn. "I think that it's time to get some rest."

Sorry, my RP bug has faded immensely in the last few days. I'd intended to actually converse with each prisoner for a little bit and see what came of that, but I'll settle for just checking in on them. Ary will use Keep Watch on herself and Isilme so that Isilme can be up all night in case of trickses.

Ary shares a little about Bethil and her life - from what she'd gathered during conversations with the woman - before they bury her. She's careful to recover each of the crosses in turn, to ensure they're delivered to who they're meant to be delivered to. She suspects she knows who to give at least two of them to.

When Isilme finds her, she's not quite out of her funk - between Radiance's empathic probing earlier and the burials she's been quiet, instead choosing to study more of what Nurah had left her in the way of research documents - mostly just books on Drezen and the surrounding area.

"I have. And... I do not think this is an ideal environment for a child to learn to fight. That he survived is a miracle in itself. I was half-again his age when I first came near the Worldwound. I have some... misgivings about placing children in danger like that. Particularly in that level of danger." Ary says with a small frown as she stares at the space between herself and Isilme. "I don't want for him to lose sight of his dream, though."

I've no problem taking him as a follower, but I don't think Ary has a lot of use for a squire, except on the days she doesn't use Keep Watch. But moreso the 'taking children into warzones' thing.

WRONG ALIAS

Know the feeling, I wanted to interact more with Val and Ayavah at the Desnan get-together, but just tired :P

Kid's already in a warzone, and everyone could die in two days. ;p But followers aren't really "drag them off to fight" sort of NPCs like cohorts are, they're just flavor and fluff. Of course the only reason he'd be a follower would be to be a squire, which would just mean him taking care of your stuff and you teaching him how to be awesome Bishop-style in bits of downtime. ;)

"Consider that there is no ideal environment for a child to learn to fight. If they are learning to fight, it is out of necessity. He is too young to be on the front lines, true, but remember that the choice now is not 'fight and possibly die, or do not fight and live'. No one here can opt out of what is to come. Allowing him to choose to devote himself to something which is his dream is a gift that is priceless in any time and place, and especially here and now."
