Game Master Kiora Atua

Chosen heroes have arrived in Kenabres at the dawn of the Fifth Crusade. Will they be the ones to end a century long war?

"No need to apologize. I'm just trying to forestall any arguments before they get too vitriolic. Please remember that neither of you..." She gives Xanderghul a flat look to make it clear that he's included in this. "Have an unbiased view, so please try to remember that we're all friends here and have a civil conversation."

She turns back to Aron and nods as he starts talking again. "And sometimes you can't help think 'would it be so bad if I did it just once'," she says, almost to herself. "And then you panic because you realize that you're slipping again and that just makes you feel more miserable." She rubs her tattoo with one finger, feeling a little self-conscious. Unlike Aron, her temptations had gone away. Suddenly being blessed by a goddess feels extremely unfair. But then again, since when has luck been fair. She almost chuckles to herself. "Sometimes you need someone to take your hand and pull you back out. But it not like he's holding your hand all day. Staying clean is as much your strength of will as his support." She almost doesn't ask, but her curiosity gets the better of her. "Something else?" Then she remembers what she found in the cultist stronghold. "Oh... yeah, I think I found some of the local specialties yesterday. That sh*t is weird."

with Ehren:

Hinagiku holds Ehren’s gaze as he speaks to her. Though his words are somber, her expression is not one of concern. No, she looks a Ehren with understanding, compassion, and kindness. She even smiles a little when he withdraws his hand. In turn, she lets go of his forearm.

”Alright Mr. Ehren, I will not be surprised. And I won’t be inconvenienced either. You can rely on me, and on others, there is not weakness in that. The world is not meant for you, or me. It is not the world and Hinagiku. It is the world for all of those who live in it, and you and me are just a tiny part of it. And so, our strength comes from both ourselves and the world around us. They cannot be separated. The entirety of creation influence each of its entities, just like each entity influences the whole. So, please do ask when in need.”

Hinagiku takes a slightly deeper breath than usual and, before speaking takes a short look around. Silently, she invites Ehren to follow her away from the camp, toward the snow covered plains at the base of the cliff. As she walks, she finally does answer.

”It is… strange. Mastery without form as the Master of master said. Perfection is different for each of us. This new body as recently served to remind me this. I have accepted this, but it was difficult at first.” she adds, making sure that her intention is not misunderstood. ”I feel like these thoughts my mother shared with me are like this body, something new that will change the way I may achieve enlightenment.” she finally stops walking, now gazing at the reddening sky slowly sets the with hills on fire.

”You know, it is funny, but even though this discussion is somewhat bleak, I have enjoyed it. It has been long since I have had the chance to listen to someone’s thoughts… back in my village, people would come and speak with me all the time, they trusted me and asked for advice, or simply confided in me. But here, it is different, people act differently, it is harder for me to get close to them. There is this strange barrier in culture. But, not now.”

Usually, Hinagiku avoids touching people directly so that she doesn’t peer into their soul accidentally, but with Ehren touching her hand, he might have accidentally triggered her ability. So, out of curiosity, is there anything Hinagiku could learn (as with a knowledge check) about Ehren? Something that changed in the past months?

If there is no plan to raid food in the night anymore, Hinagiku will try to find the condemned. I will write a post about that tomorrow, if I get the time.

As the sun is setting close to the cliffs?

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Do you guys want to do that food raid?

----

Ehren/Sosiel

Sosiel frowns. "Between you and me... Aron is a recovered addict... when I first met him, he was hopelessly addicted to street drugs in Nerosyan... trying to numb himself from the pain of being conscripted into service. I met him through Annabelle, who attended my church, and I helped enroll him in a cleansing program. He has been clean for a very long time, but periods of high stress bring back his cravings."

He looks pensive. "I wonder what he was hiding..."

-----

Aron/Valaria

Aron smiles weakly. "Sounds like you know what I mean... it is good, to have someone who empathizes. Annabelle, her heart was always in the right place, but she never understood the struggle... sometimes she felt like, when I was in the thick of it, it was a reflection of my love for her... like if I just cared about her enough, I'd quit. But it doesn't work that way, does it?"

"Yeah. And... intensely addictive. Much worse than anything we had back in Taldor."

---

Nurah/Ary

"His brother is a man named Joran. He is... or rather was, a cleric of Torag, who was stationed in Kenabres. Soon after Irabeth discovered Vhane's true identity, he vanished from the city, though scouting reports have placed him at Drezen. They must be fiercely loyal to one another," says Nurah.

"Oh, around 500', I believe," Nurah says.

Irabeth nods. "A little aways from Drezen is a mining system left behind by the dwarves, it would allow us to climb out of the canyon and onto the plateau on the southern side of Drezen."

At Valaria's comment and Ayavah's defensive outburst, Xanderghul rolls his eyes. "Sure, don't trust the guy who spent nine thousand of your years in the Abyss and lived to tell the tale. I'm sure you're likely to find someone else with the same level of experience and a lesser degree of bias than me. I have supreme confidence that your life experience has prepared you adequately for this "pilgrimage", and I could for sure never give you any relevant advice."

His sarcastic outburst concluded, Xanderghul shakes his head with exasperation, gets up, and walks away. What a waste of time, and what an immature little girl.

Ayavah/Valaria/Aron

Ayavah crosses her arms and huffs. "Ugh. What a jerk." She fingers the unholy symbol on her bracelet absentmindedly - a seven pointed crown wrapped in thorns. "I just... I know I'm right, coming here. I can feel it." She closes her eyes.

"I'm going to go pray in our tent, Val. 'night."

Val rubs her hands together. "My temptation had more to do with corruptive magic than drugs," she explains. "But the feeling is closer than I realized. I'd never considered how similar they might feel until you started talking and it just... clicked." She shakes her head. "I don't really know about that though. I didn't have anyone close when I was having issues. I was always on the move, trying to run away from my problems. I figured if I went far enough, maybe I could forget about it and it would go away. It didn't though. Not until someone bigger than me stepped in and helped."

She really doesn't want to bring up too many memories of what the drugs are like to him. She had a feeling that it would make things worse. "I wonder if some of the drugs are intentionally smuggled in by spies or cults trying to subvert people. It would explain a few things."

She raises an eyebrow as Xanderghul throws a hissy fit. "Good gods, all I did was ask him not to be rude about it," she mutters. "I have no idea what I saw in that man. His head is so far up his own ass that he can check if his dinner is digested yet. But how dare anyone suggest that to the great Xanderghul? He's far to perfect to ever need advice or, gods forbid, correction." She spits off to the side. "Too caught up in his own head to realize that his experience is exactly what colored his perspective to begin with. But apparently being reminded of that is grounds to stomp off like a spoiled child. You'd think he'd have learned that to behave like an adult in the past few thousand years, but no, of course not."

She stops herself from ranting further and takes a deep breath to calm down. "It's not even that I think he doesn't have good advice or useful experience. I just know him well enough to know that his first response is to belittle any point of view that doesn't match his. And we don't need fights right now." She shakes her head. "Ugh, forget it. I'm done dealing with him. If he has a problem, he can talk about it like an adult instead of throwing an tantrum. I'll see you back at the tent once Aron and I are done with dinner."

WRONG ALIAS

Isilme takes some time after the presentation to the soldiers to explain it all to Ledsa. Obviously it would be best if Ledsa did not have to come along, but there was no where else for her with Yulin coming. The child would be very likely to be killed if Ledsa was left to fend for herself.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (17) + 26 = 43

She then settles in for the evening with Ledsa and Külə.

Ready for tomorrow.

Hinagiku:
A very vague montage.
Spoiler:
Among his sisters and cousins the boy would laugh and play. With his father and mother he was an apt, enthusiastic pupil. But then the clan passes through a town or village. The boy becomes withdrawn. His eyes are cast down, and his voice low. The boy is painfully shy. Speaking with a friendly crusader or even a Kellid from another clan wears down on him. Everything in the natural world is connected, his father tells him. And yet, he acts as though he is not a part of it.

Years pass. The boy is almost a man, but little has changed with time. His kin speak of how wise he is for one so young. Then why is it that he can never say the right thing? His seventeenth birthday fast approaches. The boy wonders what his place in the world is. When day comes, and he touches the stone, he receives his answer. He realizes his purpose. He strikes out on his own, and alone he faces the insurmountable task before him - he was going to heal the world.

The earth itself opens up and swallows him whole. He meets strangers that are every bit as uncertain as he is. The boy starts to open up. He makes friends, his first real friends, and faces great hardship. He makes even more friends. He learns what loss is. Slowly, but far more quickly than he could have ever imagined, he kills a part of himself and becomes something entirely new. It takes far longer for him to realize that it even happened.

The rest is history.

”I’m glad to hear you say that. You would make an excellent druid,” Ehren muses, his eyes smiling. His tone is not one of mockery, but it is not entirely serious, either. Perfection or no, it was good to hear that their ideals were not irreconcilable. He could say the same of any of his friends, of course; their common goals aside, they would not likely be working together if that were not the case.

When Hinagiku beckons, he follows without question, staff in hand. He looks to the sunset, committing it to memory. Where they were going, such beautiful sights would be more scarce than anything.

”That’s a good thing,” Ehren says with genuine relief, nodding his approval. ”That voice is a part of you. Being in conflict with it would mean being in conflict with yourself. To borrow some of your own words, denying that part of yourself would require you to change in a way you shouldn’t.” A small laugh slips out. ”But you already know this. I hope you attain your enlightenment, whatever that means for you.”

Ehren briefly thinks to his conversation with Lann when Hinagiku mentions her village. He sometimes forgot that she had come to the Worldwound from so far away.

”I feel the same way. I do not know about our talk being bleak, however. I have nothing but hope for the future,” he says with a wide smile. His expression becomes slightly more pensive as he continues. ”So many of the people out here are set in their ways. Their hearts are hardened by everything they have had to endure. But I am sure there those who will come to you, in time. Surely there are some you must have already reached.” Turning away from the sunset, he looks back to her, still smiling. ”Even just one would make a difference.”

"I'd never have known just by looking at him," Ehren murmurs, leaning forward on his staff. "I've never given much thought to his past as one of the Condemned, because it doesn't define who he is. But it must have weighed heavily on him."

"I don't know how, or from where, but is it possible that he's found something that could... sate those cravings?"

Should be all done for the night once Ehren's talk with Sosiel is over.

4 of you ready to move on, waiting on Val and Ary.

Not seeing much support for going on the food raid today, so I am going to assume you want to skip that.

Val/Ayavah/Aron

Ayavah raises an eyebrow. "So you really think that stuff about him being like, a thousand years old is true? I figured he was just b@%+!$&$ting. I don't think even we'll live to be that long."

She smiles and gives Valaria a quick hug before heading for her tent.

Afterwards, there is some silence before Aron speaks up - "Yeah. I'm glad you have someone helping you, whoever they are. Don't let them go."

He finishes his dinner before standing up. "I think I'm going to turn in for the night. Long march waiting for us tomorrow, yeah?"

Ary/Nurah/Irabeth

Irabeth shakes her head. "Only to get into the citadel proper should we be forced into a bottle neck, but I don't believe there is much preventing that - this is how the fortification was designed. I think marching into the city itself from an unexpected angle though will provide much benefit."

Nurah nods. "I agree with Chevalier Tirablade. This tunnel gambit is... unprecedented." She grins. "I look forward to writing about it."

Ehren/Sosiel

Sosiel looks contemplative. "I don't know how such a thing would be possible... we did pick up that contingent of Condemned recently, though I hate to profile them, it seems... hypocritical." He crosses his arms. "Thank you for letting me know about this, Ehren. I'll need to think on how to best broach the subject."

"If I'm lucky, I might make two hundred," Val jokes. "Hopefully I age gracefully." She sighs and shakes her head. "But yes, it's true. He spent a significant portion of that in the Abyss being hunted by demons. So his views are... well the cult you were infiltrating..." She nods, hoping Ayavah remembers her cover story. "Showed you the appealing parts. He saw the absolute worst for several of our lifetimes. So I get where he's coming from. But he's also a self-absorbed ass who can and will tell you that in the worst way possible if given the chance." She pats Ayavah on the back as the hug. "I'll be along shortly."

She turns back to Aron and smiles. "I couldn't let them go even if I wanted to. She's very present in my life." She rubs her cheek more fondly this time. "And don't you ever forget that we're here for you too. Sosiel of course, but we're your friends now too, so don't ever be afraid to come to us if you need help. We're the last people who will judge you for whatever is bothering you." She stands up and nods to him. "I hope you get the rest you need. You look exhausted." Then she turns and heads to her tent to get some much needed sleep.

I think that wraps things up for me.

Late at Night...

It is late, late at night - the dark cliffside illuminated by the lights of campfires and torches. All is silent, until a scream pierces through the night...

Isilme:

You are abruptly awakened by the feeling of a blade being lodged deep into your stomach - it twists, acid dripping down the weapon and adding burns to your wound. You gasp for air, and struggle to remain conscious... and somehow, just somehow, you do. Opening your eyes, you stare upwards into the hideous face of Mangvhune. He leers.

"Think I'm funny now, do ya, b%#+!?" he sneers.

Beside you, Ledsa awakens. She looks up at the demon and screams.

You have access to Külə's statblock, so you can make a suggestion as to what he does on his round (which is AFTER your turn) - otherwise his move is going to be to Reposition you 5-10' if you haven't moved out of Mangvhune's threatened area (70% chance of repositioning you 10' if you don't resist), or to try and heal you otherwise.

At the end of your round you will bleed for 6 HP unless healed

Valaria:

You are asleep, curled up with Ayavah in your tent. You awaken at the sound of a scream, and peer through the tent flaps... you don't see anything, but you recognize that scream as Ledsa's... it is very close to you.

Moving your token out of your tent should allow you to see the scene. It is a bit behind you, but the entrance of your tent faces away from the scene ;)

Ayavah awakens next you, her eyes wide. "What was that?" she whispers.

Ehren:

You are asleep in your tent. You awaken at the sound of the scream. You recognize that scream as Ledsa's. You remember she was sleeping with Külə and Isilme to the east of you.

Moving your token south towards the campfire will allow you to see the scene, but your vision isn't the greatest :)

Ary:

You stayed up through the night with Keep Watch - you were up late with Nurah, questioning her, but eventually the halfling asked to go to sleep, to ready herself for the morning. You are standing in the command tent, your books and notes scattered across the collapsable table, while Irabeth sleeps nearby. You are immediately alerted at the sound of the scream, and you peer through the open tent flap... your keen elven eyes can see Isilme and Ledsa laying against Külə on the ground, just around a nearby tent. Ledsa is awake, screaming, while blood pools out from Isilme and onto the ground. You cannot see the perpetrator, but you have an educated guess as to who it might be...

Anevia, meanwhile, is asleep in her own tent. She misses Irabeth's company, but understands that she has been assigned to keep Nurah "safe". Her vision is not as good as Ary's, and while she can see the same things she does, Isilme and Külə are veiled in shadow (20% concealment due to dim light).

Hinagiku:

You don't need as much sleep as the others - you have already finished your rest for the night, and are awake, patrolling around the camp. You know that Annabelle is off doing night patrols - before she left she came to see you, and she asked to help braid your hair... now that her hair is short, she misses your nightly ritual.

You turn around and see Mangvhune, the babau assassin in the distance. He is standing over Isilme's body, blood dripping from his blade, as Ledsa screams in horror.

Xanderghul:

You are asleep in your tent, Ser Jorsal asleep in the bedroll next to yours... it was Ary's orders, of course, but it reminds you of old times, before you joined the Crusades.

The shrill scream awakens you, and you peer through your tent flap... your keen eyes see through the darkness and you see Mangvhune, the babau assassin. He is standing over Isilme's body, blood dripping from his blade, as Ledsa screams in horror.

Though you are prone, you have LoS to Mangvhune through the tent flap. He is exactly 40' away.

Xanderghul rolls up onto his feet almost as quickly as he wakes up, sweeping his blanket aside in one fluid motion. "Jorsal, wake up! Trouble! Grab your sword, now! I'll hurl you in."

Suggesting that Jorsal stand and grab his weapon this round, and then delay until after my turn so that I can telekinetic charge him.

Xanderghul inhales forcefully, inflating his chest and performing a quick three-fingered gesture, followed by a different two-fingered gesture. Letting out the air, he screams, "F$*+ing stop!" Anevia wakes with a start and snatches an arrow from her quiver, rolling over. She groans as she sees that she doesn't see anything. "F#%&ing murder demons. Can't they murder at a decent hour?". She changes arrows in hand when she sees the amount of blood, making her way towards the action and drawing her bow as she does.

Though Isilme is gravely wounded, she puts on a brave face, cutting off any sign of pain. "Still think you are funny? I do. How pathetic that you could not even assassinate a sleeping target. Irori's holy magic washes over Isilme, stopping the bleeding from what would have been a mortal wound.

Irabeth gets up, and though she isn't wearing any of her armor, grabs her blade and trudges out of the tent after Ary and Nurah.

Inside of Xanderghul's tent, Jorsal stands up, blade in hand. He nods at Xanderghul and gets ready to be suddenly hurtled forwards - a trick that he had long gotten used to from working with the man.

Closer still, Ledsa stops screaming. She closes her eyes and bends over until she is almost in the fetal position, shielding her swollen belly with her body. Mangvhune smirks at Isilme's bravado, her magic not even affecting him, not this time. Not with his goal so close at hand. "I can smell your fear, little aasimar... I will taste it, soon enough."

The babau cruelly locks eyes with Külə, not even flinching as he gazes into the depths of his depravity. The unicorn shakily gets to his feet, grabbing Isilme's collar with his teeth and yanking him quickly out of Mangvhune's grasp. The babau demon swipes his blade across the unicorn's neck - once, then twice, but the unicorn is no stranger to pain - it does not even cry out as yet another wound graces its scarred hide. Instead, the beast fearlessly takes a step forward, imposing its large frame between the assassin and Isilme.

"Isilme, ölməyin. Qaçmaq," says the unicorn, keeping its gaze steady on the babau.

Sylvan:

"Isilme, do not die today. Run."

At that moment, Xanderghul roars out his challenge to Mangvhune... who barely notices.

Part of Isilme longed for her own body to put this demon in its place. It still frustrated her greatly to be so fragile. Still she had friends that more than made up for that weakness, and were she given a choice by her Lady right now, she knew which she would choose.

"While you might succeed in killing me were I some lone mortal who had offended you, I am not. When I stumble my friends and allies are there to catch me. We will send you back to the Abyss. Or perhaps you'll flee with your tail between your legs again?"

Digging out a potion, she drinks it quickly, keeping her attention focused on the demon.

Once she is within eyesight of everyone, Nurah begins to dance - an inspiring display, though not enough to offset Valaria's weak strike. As Nurah moves, her motions become faster and even more graceful.

Külə hears Xanderghul call out, so he lowers his head and moves away from the battle towards Isilme. Mangvhune cruelly cuts into him once more as he retreats, but it is not enough to stop him. He lowers his head, eyes closed, and nudges Isilme with his half-grown horn. It glows softly as he channels his magic into her - the large wound in her stomach begins to seal up until all that remains is a flesh wound and a dull ache.

Xanderghul suddenly launches Jorsal across the battlefield, soaring over the heads of the others. Mangvhune swipes at him as he flies past, landing a deep cut in his torso... but it isn't enough to deter the crusader knight. He lands, swiping his blade once across the babau's chest. He then feints to the right before cutting back and slicing a nasty gash into the assassin's side.

Thinking better of the situation, Mangvhune flees - Jorsal counters with a whorling chop that whips across him, leaving behind a stained mark, while Valaria adds her own quick incision. Ary's golden motes finally coalesce - she appears next to him, Radiance shredding through. But the demon manages to get outside of the radius of her glowing motes. He turns around and stares at Isilme with narrowed eyes, an expression of fury contorted across his mouth... and vanishes.

Attracted by her call, the paladins of Vilareth, led by Captain Alkalson, crowd around the central encampment. He addresses Ary with a salute, then looks around... noticing the pools of blood near where Isilme was sleeping, he activates his own divine bond. "What has happened? Are we under attack?"

"الهروب مرة أخرى؟" Isilme calls out in celestial as the demon runs. "لا يكاد يكون من المستغرب لشيطان، حتى أقل من ذلك لواحد كما غير مهذب والجهل كما نفسك!" Though it was certainly too close for comfort, she could not resist going after the demon's pride as he fled.

Celestial:
"Running away again?"
"Hardly surprising for a demon, even less so for one as inept and impotent as yourself!"

When he finally disappears, Isilme collapses to the ground and takes a deep breath. "Təşəkkürlər, Külə, mənim həyatımı qurtardın." she says quietly, placing a hand on the unicorn's leg. She looks up at the stars briefly, focusing on Cynosure and saying a brief prayer to the Song of Spheres.

Sylvan:
"Thank you Külə, you saved my life."

Looking to everyone else, she gathers herself and stands up, dusting herself off. "That was certainly a bit more entertainment than I was hoping for this evening," she says with a chuckle. "Thank you everyone for coming quickly. I suspect he will be back again in a few days, perhaps during our Siege on Drezen if we do not take action. Perhaps we should make an effort to scry on him tomorrow evening and see if we can determine where he is. Catching him offguard might be the best way to end this threat."

With his plodding pace, Ehren reaches the battle just in time to see Mangvhune vanish. His mouth grinds into a stony frown, but he does not change back into his normal form right away. He (carefully) looks to Külə, to Ledsa, then back to Isilme. He had to wonder whether her sense of calm was genuine, or just another performance. It was admirable either way.

"Do you still have that sample of his blood?" he asks, his voice much deeper than usual. "Between that and his wounds, a scrying attempt would have a much better chance of success. I don't know whether we'll be able to pinpoint his exact location, but I will give it a try as soon as possible."

Delaying the march is fine by me. Ehren won't be able to prepare scry otherwise.

As Ehren reaches out to accept the vial, his earthen form crumbles, as though it were just a shell covering his true self. He briefly inspects the sample before slipping it into a pocket.

"We will need to sleep in if we wish to recover our magic."

Taking another careful glance at Külə, Ehren’s expression turns thoughtful. He thinks back to their first encounter with him, back when he was Hormond’s slave. He had been a miserable sight since then, and almost everyone, even Külə himself, had agreed that it was for the best to put him out of his misery. But not Isilme. The druid very much doubted that the pain in the creature’s soul had lessened, but he felt not pity, but shame. If they could not heal his soul, then what hope did they have of healing the world itself? Deciding that an apology was overdue, he steps forward to address him.

"Thank you Külə, for protecting Isilme and Ledsa," he says to the unicorn, with his eyes closed and head slightly bowed. "I fear that I have been misjudging you since we’ve first met. A noble heart still beats within you."

That's two of you for resting for spell recovery. If someone else agrees we will go forwards with that plan.

Ayavah emerges from the tent a few moments later, having taken a little bit to get dressed before joining the others. She moves over to Isilme, noticing the blood stains down her front. "Oh, gods. Are you okay?" she asks.

Irabeth frowns, not sheathing her sword just yet. She walks up to Ary. "That was a close call. I believe finishing this demon off is going to be necessary... but we would need to ensure it does not simply teleport away."

Külə moves protectively over to Ledsa. "Mənə təşəkkür etmək lazım deyil, Isılmaq," he says monotonously, plopping himself down onto the dirt next to her. He doesn't even bother to heal his own wounds... he doesn't even seem to notice the fresh wounds interlaced amongst the old.

Sylvan:
"No need to thank me, Isilme."

"Mangvhune biriniz ölməyincə istirahət etməyəcək. Siz yatarkən özünüzü qorumaq üçün daha yaxşı qayğı göstərməlisiniz. Bu Haçlı patrulları onu əldən verə bilməyəcək ... çox uzun müddət bunu edir," he says.

Sylvan:

[b]"It seems like Mangvhune will not rest until one of you is dead. You should take better care to protect yourself as you sleep. These Crusader patrols will not be able to spot him... he has been doing this for a very long time."

He watches Ehren's approach placidly. He stares at the druid for a moment as he makes his apology.

"I'm afraid you're mistaken, Archdderwydd of Ferron," he says, though there is no sarcasm in his voice. He surveys the young man for a few more moments before turning his gaze upwards to the sky.

"It has been a long time since a human has worn that crown. I do not know if our home can be healed, but I do believe that if it can, it will require your assistance.... if the Green has faith in you, that speaks volumes." He closes his eyes and rests his head upon the ground, next to Ledsa.

"Really, after what happened at the Circle of Hierophants, I was not sure if there would ever be other druids of your power again. It appears I've been proven wrong. Perhaps I will be proven wrong again."

Mythic surge is sufficient to switch him from indifferent to friendly towards Ehren. But it's hard to tell because he's all eeyore-corn :P

Meanwhile, Ledsa, unable to understand Külə's conversation, turns to Isilme. She rubs her stomach, apparently still concerned for her child. "Ie, rwy'n iawn. Diolch, Isilme. Ydych chi'n dda? Bod yr anghenfil yn eich brifo'n ddifrifol."

"She survived," Val says as Ayavah and Irabeth join them. "That's a start. But she might not next time if that lunatic manages to launch another sneak attack. And he's a skilled and determined problem with a serious score to settle. The sooner we don't have to worry about him, the better." The lack of ways to keep demons from simply fleeing whenever a fight didn't go their way was quickly starting to become a problem. Arastrax's escape had been caused by the same issue. She sighs and rubs her eyes. Stopping teleportation is very much not her area of expertise.

After a few moments of watching, another spell at the ready, Xanderghul relaxes and brushes some dust from his robes. "What a f@##ing coward," he scoffs, walking over to pat Jorsal on the shoulder. "Runs as soon as he gets just a little bit injured. He's never gonna succeed at killing you like that."

He claps Jorsal on the shoulder then, grinning. "Nice f*#~in' job back there. I can always count on you to lay down some ass-kicking."

So I guess Xanderghul and Valaria have no opinion on the resting thing - Hinagiku/Ary, what are your thoughts?

Ayavah nods. "Yeah... double the patrols, maybe? I don't know..." She glances at Valaria and yawns. "C'mon, let's go back to bed. Long day, tomorrow."

"I don't know," says Jorsal, in response to Xanderghul's boast... he was ever the more cautious of the two. "He came close. And I bet he'll be more cunning, next time."

He grins back at Xanderghul. "Hah, you know it. No different than those red mantis lunatics, and we've had our share of run-ins with them!" He crosses his arms. "You know, that reminds me... instead of finding whatever godsforsaken hidey-hole he's set up for himself in the Worldwound, have you thought of setting a trap for him? He seems like the simple kind to bait."

"I am alright, Ayavah," Isilme says as she proceeds to heal herself up with her remaining magic. Her wounds close and the pain subsides, leaving her breathing easier.

"I agree Irabeth, the next time will be the last, one way or another. Best we make it a meeting on our terms instead of his," she responds to the paladin.

"Byddaf i gyd yn iawn, peidiwch â phoeni. Ni fydd unrhyw ddiabwl o'r fath yn dod i ben." she responds to Ledsa's concerns. "Ewch yn ôl i gysgu, bydd angen i chi aros yn iach ar Yulin."

Hallit:
"I will be alright, worry not. No such devil will be the end of me."
"Go back to sleep, Yulin will need you well rested."

"Patrols will do nothing, he is--as Külə mentioned--an expert at this sort of thing. Setting a trap would certainly work. We have his blood, so scrying will be difficult for him to resist. We might be able to observe him when he is close to acting. In the meantime I believe I will be asking for Ary to aid me with keep watch. Perhaps I could disguise myself and replace myself with an illusory image of me sleeping? Especially if we knew he was coming it could be extremely effective."

Yeah, we do need to get rid of him, and right now he is awfully weak. Also, did we ever agree on when Hinagiku recovers her daily use of abilities? I am wondering whether I should be using channel energy to heal everyone right now.

Hinagiku slowly relaxes and falls out of her combat stance before joining the others to discuss the issue.
"A trap... would we not need to all stay awake every night?" she simply ask in response to Jorsal.

Still planning on continuing the discussion with Ehren!

"Another option would be to simply pretend that you are sleeping," says Xanderghul, skipping right by Jorsal and moving on to the idea he had brought up. "I'm not so sure about the effectiveness of scrying, and I don't necessarily need to refresh my spells, but I would rather we all march into the Worldwound at full capacity rather than not. I see no reason not to sleep in."

"As for a trap... I'm sure that's possible. It might be easier to simply set the trap every night and wait for him to spring for it. We may have to wait a few days for him to heal, of course. I may even be able to prevent his first attempt to teleport away, if I am ready for it."

He grins. "I think disguising somebody else as Isilme may be the best option. And then the two best people can sleep near Kule and Ledsa under the effect of keep watch, but pretending to sleep. Thoughts?"

Hinagiku: I stated very early in the game, before you joined, that everyone recovers abilities on a 24 hour timer, refreshing at some point in the early morning. Spells, rather than using RAW (which is arcane after 8 hours of sleep, once per 24 hr period, and divine refreshing at the exact same point everyday after 1 hr ritual), I've house ruled so that divine casters refresh spells arcane-style. This was because it'd be very punishing to force you to know what time it is underground, which is where the AP begins.... and per RAW, if a divine caster is unable to perform their ritual at the appointed time, they cannot prepare spells until the next appointed time.

Alrighty, so y'all are sleeping in. Once three people are ready to go to bed, we'll move on to the next day.

Jorsal shrugs at Hinagiku. "Not necessarily, if we're sleeping nearby, most of us can spring into action quick enough to help. Only the key players would need to stay awake. The important part, I think, would be setting everyone up far enough so that he feels like he is seizing a good opportunity to strike, but not so far that the others cannot help."

Xanderghul raises an eyebrow. "I think we could lend Valaria my hat of disguise and disguise her as Isilme, and disguise Isilme somewhere else - hopefully in a relatively far tent, maybe sleeping with Ayavah. With that and telekinetic charging in Jorsal, plus a second awake ally, maybe Hinagiku to keep him shut down... we could really surprise him."

Stating it for the second time in the last few days, he grumbles, "I really need to learn dimensional anchor..."

WRONG ALIAS

"i am fairly certain that my ability to disguise will be sufficient to keep him from realizing it is me, even if I am close at hand. Disguising someone else as me would be a good choice. Hinagiku might also be able to fulfill the role. She might be able to knock him over while the rest of us close to help."

Hinagiku nods, her brow ever so slightly furrowed.
"Yes, I would rather do it. I can easily stay awake most of the night, making it less dangerous. But... how would we disguise me as miss Isilme?"

Xanderghul takes his circlet off, and it reveals its true form of a plan circular-brimmed brown hat. He places it on Hinagiku's head without asking. "There. Now you can do it - just think about what you want to look like."

I know

Hinagiku reaches up to her head to touch the brown hat. She slowly follows the contour of the brim, apparently making sure that the hat is not an illusion.

"I hadn't realized such magic worked in this way." she simply says, before nodding in understanding to Xanderghul.

Hinagiku thinks for a moment, remembering what she had read on the principles of magic. From what she understood, visualization was key to illusion. And so, she turns towards Isilme, and takes a long look at her, doing her best to create the most vivid image in her mind. Finally, as she closes her eyes to fully concentrate on the image, her body suddenly changes into that of the azata. Well, something close anyway, Hinagiku's vulpine ears remain.

"How is it?"
