I enjoyed writing that post, I'm glad you liked it too, Hinagiku. I'm excited to read Ehren and Hinagikus reaction posts :)

Fate seems really cool, Ary. I love the story driven aspect of it. I think the challenge would be to find a group of like minded people. In my experience it's easier to find people more interested in the rpg combat aspects of tabletop gaming than those who want a more free form, communal story driven one. But it also seems like a system that would lend well to only a small group of players (perhaps even just a player and dm) which could make it easier. I hope you find a group to play with!

Yeah, the problem is finding a group that's there for the story, instead of the minis... and finding people who are good at cooperative creation. But I think that also helps as a writer, because learning that your ideas aren't inherently the best as they are now, and that others can help you to develop your stories and characters can pay off dividends. I figure it can also drive a wedge between friends, though...

As a writer, I find that my writing only becomes better when I sit down and let people help me. It works better with friends though. People who know you and understand you, but aren't afraid to speak their mind are usually the most helpful.

Whew, I just returned from a particularly exhilarating grocery shopping experience. Had to walk out into oncoming traffic about 8 times just to get there. Saw a warthog, several cows, many stray dogs.

Pre-Roll:
At the call that battle is approaching, Xanderghul moves to the edge of the building, his potion-infused speed giving him just the push that he needs to get outside. He sees the two enemies, ruefully next to each other, and he curses himself once again for not taking the time to learn more evocation magic.

Still, he doesn't figure that he needs to use evocation for as long as he has Valaria, who is basically a fireball made of cold iron starknives, and he once again enacts the spell that he uses to fling her into battle, maneuvering her up and above the hooded wikkawaks before dropping her behind them, cutting off their escape route in the process of putting her right into murdering-range.

MA to move four squares to the right, and then SA to cast telekinetic charge, putting Valaria in the back-left corner in between the hooded wikkawaks, above the black one and to the left of the red one. She gets an immediate action charge attack with a +2 bonus. I believe I can move her 10' over their heads as she passes over them, avoiding AoOs.

Yeah, it's been great!

Our hotel is outside of San Francisco, unfortunately, so we only got to go into the city once because traffic is hella bad. (was like 2 hours to get into the city around 5pm, its only 40 minutes with no traffic). Ooh, fancy. Some of those angles of the bridge look pretty familiar, aha. I didn't get to actually go onto it during my own visit.

Thanks! Yeah it was really gorgeous. I'd like to come back sometime and tourist it up with more freetime. San Francisco itself is really pretty, situated on these crazy steep hills, but it was hard to take pictures through the car window that do it justice.

Still, really nice. I really like the one of Alcatraz, especially with the small path of land right at the bottom of the picture. I think it's better than the island all alone. And, I have to agree that many of the scenery pictures look nice, and that the album ends with you staring directly at the viewer, nice touch!

She chuckles at Ehren's comment in regards to the comprehend languages scrolls, remembering she'd given one to Xanderghul earlier that he hadn't used. There were, however, more pressing issues. Time was obviously of the essence now, as they needed to get to the old crone as quickly as they could and destroy the horn before the army returned.

Calling upon her magic, she intones the verbal components for haste, quickly unleashing the spell on her friends to aid their fight against the group that had found them. The magic streams over the group, quickening the actions of everyone but Variska. As she finishes, she looks around the group and calls to them, "Now is the time to step up and show them why we are the ones sent by the crusades to handle this. We, who slew Brae-Hagen, who freed the tower of Ghalcor, who saved Kenabres by infiltrating the Grey Garrison! Let us show them what we are made of!"

You chose properly, Kioralady! Writing up tactics for that is actually sort of nuanced. I may need help setting up what's ideal here, so chime in if folks think there's something lacking here!

As a general rule, she'll use Radiance on a foe using a ranged weapon, and Faith on a foe using a melee weapon; moving a ranged foe away is bad, moving a melee foe away is good. If the enemy is fleeing, use Radiance, if advancing, use Faith; stopping the enemy from doing what they intend to do is good, helping an enemy do it is bad. There'll be times she can't tell whether they're advancing or retreating. If they appear to be moving towards any ally, and she can try to bull rush them away from that ally, she will.

I also like the pictures, especially the breadimals.

Ary watches the Wikkawaks storm forward as she changes perspective again and again; that was becoming... easier. She was glad they were able to hold the door, allowing them to maneuver more freely and not simply be boxed in. But now came the harder part. She plants her foot as she brings Radiance around in a testing arc against the first Wikkawak, probing his defenses, before bringing it back around for a heavy blow that brings her stepping in under his guard. She slams forward with all of her weight lifting physically upwards with Radiance as she attempts to toss the hooded Wikkawak back out of range of doing any real damage to her and her allies.

@ Ary: Who says it's not real? It's just as real as any other pit. You're just more convinced if I dig the pit myself with a shovel.

On the spiked pit, I'm going to go with the pit is actually 20% as deep in reality (therefore it is 6' deep, which works well with the idea falling damage is correspondingly reduced on a successful will save). The spikes are quasi-real just as any other damage-dealing shadow spell, and because they always deal (some) damage, they will keep the climb DC at 20 regardless of the depth of the pit.

Someone who disbelieves will still be in the pit, just a shallow one. Perceiving another person who has failed to disbelieve the pit will basically just make them look like they're climbing in place. If a person who has failed their will save and fallen in the pit succeeds a second time because someone else has communicated it is an illusionary pit to them, they would realize the pit was shallower than they thought - it was (gasp!) an illusion.

Ary continues her assault on her foe, effectively scooping him up and tossing him around like a rag doll, slamming him towards the wall he'd put his back to, and following after him, raining down hammering blows with her shield as she presses him bodily to the wall and then lets him crumple to the ground. She looks over her shoulder to the situation with Variska... with Hinagiku by her side she just might make it. "Stay down. If you keep fighting, or try to get back up, I'll not stop til you do."

Hey everyone. I know I've pitched some campaign ideas that most people weren't super interested in, but I'm looking for friends to try something out with and I'm hoping that at least a few of you would be interested in playing.

I recently got my hands on the first couple books of Ironfang Invasion, but I had an idea ages ago that I want to put into practice. I'm going to run the AP, but shift the setting to Shokuro in Tian Xia and have the Ironfang Legion invading from Kaoling instead. Essentially mixing the classic fantasy stuff from Ironfang with the far east stuff to run it closer to a wuxia or samurai style thing than pure classic fantasy. Anyone interested in Asian styled games?

I know effectively nothing about Tian Xia. I know a couple of the gods. But... otherwise, waaay limited in knowledge, which makes it hard to create a character that 'lives' in the world, as it were.

I'm also not super sure about joining games in general. I tend to overbook myself with my excitement of late. I'm really not sure, overall. Nothing jumps out at me as something I'd really enjoy playing without going into the lore of everything a lot more. I'll look into it a bit. :)

It's actually kind of hard to find real, solid information on Tian Xia... and basically anything on Shokuro other than 'was amazing, idiots in charge, invaded, pushed invaders out, less amazing.'

If I were to app for something like that, I'd likely want to play a Kitsune Rogue (taking the Fox Shape at level 1 alternate trait) to allow hijinx to ensue.

I think there's been only one book on Tian Xia actually released by Paizo. Shokuro gets maybe three paragraphs. So it's really open to add new things or make things up that fit the setting. It's supposed to be a sort of samurai themed country led by a former ronin, but that's most of what I've got.

Alright, Valaria, Ary, how about this:

If you want to start a campaign in that region, how about you write us a players' guide? Everything you think a player would need to know to make a good character? I'm totally with Ary that I don't really trust myself to make a character that isn't a shallow stereotype with what little information is available publicly.

I would like to try playing a new game, though, if you would be down to start one.
