Yeah, I see exactly where that comparison comes from. Xan just needs to start calling people mongrels and they could be twins.

Yeah. I half expected him to be wearing nothing but a glammered cod piece by the time this is over with.
Anevia the Hawkguard |
Side note: I was reading up on readied actions because I'm thinking about overwatch style (prob less worth it for a path of War character), and noticed that readied actions actually place you just ahead of the person who triggers your readied action, making it far less nasty to ready them. Is it a house rule that you go after to prevent you from permanently ruining a bad guy's day?

Now I want to make a bible thumper character. :P
Valaria Alazario |
I absolutely love that archetype. I've wanted to play an intelligence based divine caster since I discovered the Archivist in 3.5e and now Paizo has an awesome version.
Isilme |
Haha, that's pretty cool. Would make for a very different inquisitor to be sure. It's a shame they don't get bonus spells from domains if they take one.
The Eldritch Scoundrel archetype was a really nice addition too. If I was going to rebuild Li'an, it'd totally be as one. Magus-like casting but from the wizard spell list, while still getting rogue talents and sneak attack.
Valaria Alazario |
That's a good one too. I built Lord Gyr of House Gyx as an Eldritch Scoundrel for a campaign I'm DMing. It seemed appropriate since he's been said to be a rogue, and he holds the position of First Spell Lord.

Hmm, you're right! I've just been wrong all this time. Nice catch :)

I always thought it would be funny if he didn't know any magic at all. You know, like most nobles who never really know what they're doing?

Hahahaha, I love that you literally smack people around with your book. That's just great.
Anevia the Hawkguard |
"What the hell... why do the twiddle-fingers have to keep changing the entire battlefield. Can't a girl catch a break..?" she asks as the fog rolls out. "Right, might as well use it..." she says, moving into the edge of the fog to gain a bit of cover... though it's not entirely necessary given the wall of stench just beyond the wall of wind, but every little bit helps. She then waits for just the right moment to try to interrupt her spell once more.
Stealth (Heroism, Gambit): 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 2 + 2 = 22
Will (Heroism): 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 1 + 2 = 13
Readied Pew
Anevia raises her shortbow, and a silver string forms once more as she lines up a shot against the fog-concealed, rippling Aasimar, before firing. A silver shortsword arcs out of the fog flying a few feet to the Aasimar's right. "Stupid twiddlefingers..."

So all that's left is Ivan Ooze. :P
I think I'm gonna start using rain of frogs for these mass combats. It's unexpectedly nasty, next to impossible to get rid of easily, and the save DCs for distraction and their poison are both raised by Augment Summoning.
GM Kiora |
Note that I basically skipped a round where Isilme, Xanderghul, and Ehren activated their wands and the enemy commander fired a shot.
So Anevia, Hinagiku, and Valaria may use that round to... I dunno. Do something. When they take their normal turn. In addition to your normal turn, if you wish.
Hinagiku |
Just wanted to state that Hinagiku will be delaying her action until the armies have acted.
Anevia the Hawkguard |
Same as Hinagiku. :) Can't do much until they're closer!
Valaria Alazario |
Also same. Daggers don't exactly have the range to engage yet.

Just a reminder, but I'll be flying out to California for a week tomorrow. Unless Wi-Fi is a foreign concept over there, I don't anticipate it affecting my internet access... but the running around for the wedding and touristy stuff might. :P
Xanderghul |
I guess that makes it my turn next!
But I want to see what the five enemy turns look like before I do anything.
Hinagiku/Valaria - you're planning to stay nearby and just kill 'em as they get close, right?
Anevia - what would be the harm in shooting two arrows at the entangled mooks? I guess they're 200' away, but that's... in the third range increment for a composite shortbow? -4 to hit?
Valaria Alazario |
That and going special character hunting. We need to kill the commander, his ooze, his unicorn, and those masked spell casters at the back before they do too much damage.
Hinagiku. |
Indeed, but only once they move from the entangle... going into it ourselves does not sound right.
GM Kiora |
In case anyone is interested, I will accept grapple, bull rush, drag, and reposition as all valid combat maneuvers for the use of dismounting someone off a mount. The military saddle (or any other kinda similarish items/feats I dunno about) apply their circumstance bonus to CMD for purposes of resisting the effect.
Pity Ary isn't here.
EDIT:
On further review, I've decided to accept Trip as well, on the basis of the tactics of this NPC.
Anevia the Hawkguard |
Anevia isn't super interested in shooting mooks because she doesn't carry unlimited arrows. Working under the assumption she has ~20 cold iron arrows, she's being stingy with them, til she can restock. :)
Likewise, keeping her sneakiness up (which I really should have rolled for already) is pretty important, to get a good heavy sneak attack once something big -is- in range! :)
Gonna read and catch up!
Valaria Alazario |
I have no idea what's on that arrow, and I don't care. Val will do everything in her power to not get hit by it. Green slime is generally bad.
Isilme |
Isilme calls out to those around her, giving them directions and inspiring their actions.
"This is it, defenders of Silvershore! When we send these cultists to the abyss, the battle will be over! Make every arrow count, wipe out the cultitst forces! Onsig, Osfirth, focus on the veiled casters if you can, we need to eliminate them! Ayavah, use the wand of haste on Onsig, Osfirth and whomever else might benefit from it."
She repeats her orders and inspiration in Hallit for the Kellids as well.
Continuing Inspire Courage, Drawing the wand of magic missile and firing one off at the unicorn.
UMD: Magic Missile: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Anevia the Hawkguard |
Plot twist: It's his pet :P
Hinagiku |
hummm, so, question, the baleful gaze is it the kind of ability that when you succeed against, you are immune to it for 24h? If not, can it stack?
Valaria Alazario |
YES! I am nowhere near crazy enough to want that kind of ability damage.
Okay people, we have ten rounds to beaten this unicorn to death and put it out of its misery. Let's get to work!
Isilme |
No kidding!
By the way, Kiora might end up botting me for a couple days. I'm in Orlando at the moment, and was supposed to be leaving on Friday. If I can't leave today I'll probably be sitting out the hurricane and its aftermath, at which point I probably will be stuck here at least an extra day or two.

Fading Shot (Point Blank, Haste, Heroism, Inspired): 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 29
Fading Shot Damage(Point Blank, Inspired, Sneak, BLarrrrgh): 1d6 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 3d6 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 1 + 2 + (2, 3, 2) - 1 = 15
"Oh, oh gods. Does anyone else smell cheese and corn?" Anevia asks, voice adjusted by her newfound refusal to breathe through her nose. Drawing back the bow is almost painful, causing her to wince and give up on drawing it back to full strength. She adjusts her aim not once, but twice as she decides between ending the torturer's life and ending the misery of the creature beneath him.
She flickers from view momentarily as light and dark silhouette her body and an arrow flies outwards in between.
Ehren Ferron |

Since no enemies should be in between, posting in advance in case some craziness prevents me from doing so later. :P
Bearing a terrible grimace, Ehren musters the concentration necessary to complete a spell, forming a ball of snow that he lobs at Commander Hormond as hard as he can.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Cold Damage: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 6, 1) = 19
GM Kiora |
A note on lingering performance, I didn't think that distance penalties applied once the bard decides to end their performance, but apparently they do, per the rules of the feat itself.
The bonuses and penalties from your bardic performance continue for 2 rounds after you cease performing. Any other requirement, such as range or specific conditions, must still be met for the effect to continue.
So I will be enforcing this from now on. Oh well!

Resonance Shot (Point Blank, Haste, Inspired, Heroism, Pinhole-if-applicable): 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 25 This sneak attack will lower the unicorn's movement speed if delivered. I really shoulda done that before, but too late now! Also, if this hits, get Deflecting Shot and Fading shot back!
Force Damage (Sneak): 3d6 + 5 + 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5) + 5 + (1, 1, 2) = 25
Anevia skitters quickly along the ground on the trail of the enemy commander - while she didn't like that he seemed to be about to... well, make something oozy happen, one way or the other... she opted to continue to focus on the unicorn. They needed to put enemies down one at a time, so as to prevent dealing with them all at once. As she runs, a silvery-thread runs from her horizontal bow's rest to the string, and as she draws it back, a longsword of pure silver appears in her hands, before arcing forward and into the unicorn - while not very well targeted, the sword itself was one of the more spectacular ones she'd ever fired, silver sparks arcing off in contrail, flying from just to Isilme's side towards the unicorn's right flank.

Just finished my first playthrough of Dark Souls 3. And oh my goodness. I loved so much.
This guy is giving off some serious 'Not for Virtue, but for Might' vibes :P
Also, the Abyss Watchers are <3.

Do any of Ary's stances let her fight via breakdancing? :P
Ary Bishop |

Nope, no breakdancing. Just lothric knight swords. All of them. :)
I mostly just wear Sage's hat and 3 silver knight pieces.
Edit: Actually, without being hollowed, Sunless Gauntlets works fine with Abyss Watcher's. Huzzah!
Though, if you're looking for breakdancing, Mithral Current is probably your best bet.
Ehren Ferron |
The DLC comes out soon! And Souls DLC is always amazing. :P
Also means moar stuffs for fashion souls. That's the most important thing, of course.
With a frown, Ehren pulls out his entangle wand once more. The trick was getting old rather fast, but they needed more time to deal with the real threat. The druid glances at his staff hesitantly, knowing that he could do worse than just delay them, but ultimately opts to just flick the wand at the enemy army.
Entangle (again) under the 35 tieflings and their witch friends, too. :P
Hinagiku |
Sorry everyone, I had to teach a class this morning. Gonna write Hingiku's actions now.
Valaria Alazario |
I love Souls games, but I'm terrible at them. I keep getting slaughtered.
