Eeeeh. There's a difference between 'no penalty to hit' and 'able to escape the earth's gravitational pull'.
Side note, it multiplies it by 5 feet. So you now have a non-euclidean range.

Acid dart on demon baby 2.
Ranged Touch Attack (Grazed, Inspired, Negative Level): 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 1 + 2 - 1 = 20
Damage (Inspired, Negative Level): 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8
Ary Bishop |
Despite her words, she still holds her stance, ready to attempt to intercept any attacks on her allies.
Holding action, until either a change in the battle, or people get into safer spaces.
Valaria Alazario |
First, thank you for marking the knives. Might go grab those. We'll see.
Second, since the crit happens first, does that mean it's AC drops by two before my second attack and would that -2 let an 18 hit?
Ehren Ferron |
I might as well pick one up for you. That blinkback belt won't come soon enough. :P
"On my way," he says, tugging one of Valaria's knives out of the monstrosity's body before heading back up the stairway.
Grabbing one of Valaria's cold iron knives.
Ary Bishop |
Same held action for Ary. :) (Working under the assumption that the cauldron won't pour on her if another chain is unhooked)
Also, Xanderghul is doing a great job of making Ary argue against keeping him.

18/20 doesn't hit - remember this one is not blind so it's not being denied dex.

Xanderghul is being a bit of a dick, which is fine by me, but if he is abrasive enough everyone else refuses to go adventure with him then I guess it is time to reroll haha

Perhaps it's a strange thing to say, but the party needs to win Xanderghul's respect just as much as he needs to win theirs.

Ugh. I really wanted to end the encounter, but I didn't feel like belting out a 2nd or 3rd level spell just to finish the demon baby off. Sorry. :(
As far as Xanderghul goes, well, he's certainly a new personality. If circumstance sticks him with us, I'm sure we'll all come around eventually.

I don't think I could ever motivate myself enough to have to post on my phone. :P
GM Kiora |
You missed by 1 :)
They're statted as variant unfettered eidolons with 8 HD, and their AC is as follows:
10 + 1 (deflection (ABP) + 4 DEX (2 from ABP) + 1 (dodge) + 1 enhancement (ABP) + 6 natural + 1 (size) - 3 (wound threshold) - 2 (entangled) - 2 (AC penalty from crit) = 17 :p

Weirdly, Paizo decided to spaz out on this campaign and like booted everyone from it, so I went in and restored y'all as players.
Also, it ate half of the campaign info tab, which sucks cause I had no backup. But the most important stuff is all still there.
I'll need to restore stuff, but I'm pretty busy until Friday... I have Friday off so I should be able to get the journal links back up, along with the language guide and the handouts.
I'm less concerned with the demonology spoiler at this point, y'all don't actually use the sign language thing, and the mythic nerfs are still in the original recruitment post.
Ary Bishop |
Yeah. Working on my third seventy hour week in a row and flu-ish.
I'll see if I can catch up with gameplay tonight.
@Kiora: Redo your passwords and stuff to something you don't normally use. It's completely possible there was a repeat incident of your campaign stuff being deleted by an ExSO.
So tired...
GM Kiora |
Hope you feel better, Ary!
As for my passwords, I already went through and updated every single one after the separation ;)
Anyway if it was him he'd have replaced the tab with a note from himself, to make absolutely sure I knew it was his fault :p He deleted the previous documents in front of me, so.

Ah, fighting semi-invincible bioterrors while trying to escape from a self-destructing laboratory. All we need now is for someone to toss us a rocket launcher to blow these guys away. :P
GM Kiora |
Since I'm not actually expecting a post from Ary until tomorrow morning, pre-rolls are appreciated if you guys feel comfortable with it, maybe can blow quickly through a round tomorrow morning that way.
But if you still need to discuss a plan or if you're waiting to see what Ary (or Hinagiku or Xanderghul) think then I understand that too :)
GM Kiora |
Hey Ehren!
I went through and audited your inventory and found that, with the glabrezu statue you are now at a heavy load (78 lbs). Watcha gonna do about that? (if anything). A heavy load reduces your max dex bonus to +1, your run speed to x3, and induces a -6 ACP to applicable skills.
Ehren Ferron |
Of course this happens on the day I didn't prepare ant haul. :P
I'll take a look once I get home. Might end up ditching a part of Ehren's small armory if all else fails.

Hm. I think I'll just abuse Ary's pack mule power if they don't mind.
Also, badass. :O
Hinagiku |
So, plan wise... does anyone has a kind of mist spell that could provide concealment? That would definitely give our characters a chance to pass unarmed.
Ehren Ferron |

He'll just give her the glabrezu statue for the time being.
From hereon out, I think I will just automate Ehren casting ant haul every morning for its long duration, if that's okay.
Isilme |
Invisibility isn't really an option since we don't have enough invis to get everyone at once. At best we could get Ehren (potion of invis) + 1 (dust of disappearance) + 2 (invis from Isilme and Xanderghul). It is very likely that what would happen the second round would likely result in the deaths of whomever hadn't been invis'd yet, since both of the demons are capable of squeezing through the passage we're in.
Ehren, can you get your caster level up to 8? If so Ice Spears might be a good choice for this fight. It won't do much damage to the monstrosities, but all that matters is that they hit and *would do* cold damage regardless of save. If you can get caster level to 8, you could hit both of them simultaneously, which would slow both for 2d6 rounds.
If that doesn't work, the best bet would probably be frostfall, or flaming sphere, as we could slow one this round and theoretically get the other one the second round.
Alternatively, we could go for an illusion (silent image) to get out. It's unlikely they have true sight, so doing something like an illusion of rubble coming down from the ceiling (deep enough for us to run through without being seen), could provide us the concealment we need to get up the stairs (or even just a wall blocking line of sight) In this case our best bet would be to delay so Xanderghul goes first, then everyone, then Ehren last.
Of course the illusion will fail after the first round, since they're likely to save once they interact with it, so it's not gonna buy us much time.
Ehren Ferron |
It would cost 2 mythic power, but between place magic and inspired spell, Ehren can cast a CL 8th ice spears, yes. Might even trip Quasitfaces, if we're lucky.
I think that might be our best bet for the first round.
Hinagiku |
Sounds like a good plan to me. So, everyone except Xanderghul will delay until Ehren casts and then we all go up the stairs?
Ary Bishop |
Not sure what I'm checking in with discussion for.
Ary is wearing a breastplate which reduces speed from 40 to 30... unless something else happens. Like another buff.
Ary Bishop |
In the event I am wrong about my speed, Ary would move to the square above B1 without delaying.
Isilme |
Change of plans: Ehren, what caster level can you get Stone Shape up to? 8 as well?
If you cast stone shape we get: 10+lvl cu. ft. of stone.
We need a wall that's 10' high x 30' long, which is 300 cu ft of material. That's assuming it's 10'x30'x1' though. 10'x30'x2" would require 50 cu ft of material. Obviously a complete wall is out of the question. If we make a portcullis, however, we can reduce the amount of stone needed.
Assumption: Caster Level 6
16 cu ft/50 cu ft = 0.32 filling fraction, i.e 32% of the wall is stone, the remainder is air. Assuming the bars are 1" wide, the holes are 4.7"x4.7". This should be small enough that making any kind of attack of opportunity through them would be difficult. If not it would be easy enough to alter it so the bars are 0.5x0.5x2", and the holes are then 2.85"x2.85".
Getting the 5.7 value comes from solving the equation 0.32x^2 - 2 (x-1) -1 == 0, which defines the area of a square with length x sides which has bars that are 1" wide along two sides
So the wall would have 30 hp* 0.32 = 9 hp for each 5' segment of wall, with hardness of 8.
Assumption: Caster Level 7
Everything is the same, except filling fraction is 0.34 now, meaning 10hp per 5' segment of wall. (The holes will be slightly smaller)
Assumption: Caster Level 8
Filling fraction is 0.36 now, but it doesn't buy us anything because HP round down, so it's still 10 hp per 5' segment of wall.
Ehren Ferron |
I guess...?
I mean, it'll work if the floor is solid stone. If Kiora says so then I'll just do that.
Wouldn't they just be able to make a Strength check to burst right through it, though? I can't imagine the DC would be very high. Bending iron bars is DC 24, for comparison.
Isilme |
They're mindless, they'll probably just swing at it. Either way it means no AoO's for while we flee, and at least one round of actions wasted busting through it.
The floor is stone, I checked with Kiora before suggesting it as a plan :)
Edit: Also, with earth elemental form, you're the only person of the group who can survive a cave in, so delaying you a round should be the least risky action.
Re-Edit: Also Flesh golems have Str 20, even if these had a 24 or so, they'd still only have a +7 to their str check to beat DC 24, which is fairly unlikely.
Valaria Alazario |
This encounter is a massive pain in the ass.
Ehren Ferron |
The first round has barely even started. :|
Knowing that we shouldn't be fighting these things is all the information we needed, frankly. I mean, even if everyone somehow flubbed their knowledge checks, it was a given that we don't have time to fight.
If the ground is solid stone, then Ehren doesn't even need to move to use stone shape.
And if someone else has cold magic, they should probably go ahead and slow the golems anyway. It's too good of a debuff to pass up.
