I've seen bits and pieces of it. Something like... first 5 episodes on netflix, and snippets from 3 random episodes on cartoon network.
Also, Ary would prefer to go report, then shop. :) In case it matters. Though she doesn't wanna report at all. :(
Ehren Ferron |
Eureka Seven is great! Just stay the hell away from AO. :|
I don't think it matters which order we report or shop in, but Ehren would rather we all report at once. Well, the crusadery sorts in the party should, at the very least.
Ary Bishop |
Pfft. We have hours to get that fixed. And free castings of Keep Watch, according to Kioralady. Screw that hag. NOBODY SLEEPS.
Markus Coffinborn |
On the other hand, we have an obviously evil creature just roaming around the heart of Nerosyan itself. It should be a priority to kill it.
Ary Bishop |
But I also feel like our bosses are better equipped to do so... but at the same time it's kind of our thing to fix. And we also need to fix it before she wanders off to pick on those less capable. It's... ugh.
Markus Coffinborn |
There's no reason we can't split up a bit.
Besides, imagine how good giving the report will be when it's "We had a hag following us, but we went and bought some magic items and killed it." instead of "Hey, can you fix this hag thing that's following us around?"
Hinagiku |
From Hinagiku's point of view, killing the hag is what should be taken care of although she thinks that the crusaders should be present to make sure that it cannot escape. So, reporting/killing the hag could be accomplished at the same time.

To my friends in relationships: Happy Valentine's Day.
To my forever alone friends: Happy Alentine's Ay.

I'd say that I celebrate Valentine's Day when single (nyah nyah), but it's been since like...sophomore year of high school that I've been single on Valentine's Day, so I suppose I don't really know.

Gonna grab some lunch and then go to our first Vampire game in over... two months? It's a good thing I took notes. :P

Happy single's appreciation day everyone!
Ehren Ferron |
Okay, game got canceled. So make that, uh, three months. *sigh*
Valaria Alazario |
Aw :(
That's too bad.
Ary Bishop |
Punch them in the face, Ehren of clan Ferron!
Good thing you kept notes. :(
Hinagiku |
Yeah, sounds pretty bad. So, this is suppose to be a once in a month game?
BTW, I looked over World of Darkness book for player, and I always had difficulty imagining what an adventure would be like. Similarly, I played Unknown Armies once with my friends, and same thing happened, I totally lacked inspiration.
For those of you playing these kind of games, how does it usually go? Where do you get inspiration? It's like a sandbox where you try to reach your character's goals?
Valaria Alazario |
White Wolf games generally much more character focused. The world isn't likely to change much, no matter what you do, so stories are much more about what your character wants and how they plan to find their place in the world. I've played one game and ran two (though none of them lasted too long) and it's pretty much always character driven.
Ehren Ferron |
This would have been our fourth session overall. The scheduling is pretty irregular - monthly would have been ideal. The GM also runs a Star Trek game with the same group. We were invited to that one, but I wasn't so sure about learning two new game systems at once.
And yeah, it is definitely very character focused. The GM uses a persistent game world, so some stuff from one of his previous campaigns actually cropped up a bit, which was pretty neat.
At least in my case, the GM had a specific city setting, and set up the state of affairs (like say, the aftermath of a vampire-werewolf war). The players basically come up with what they want to play as, and then collaborate with the GM to determine why they might present in the city, and what their goals are. From what I can see, it's not necessarily a system that encourages teamwork between players.
Hinagiku |
Interesting, would explain the issues I had with GMing Unknown Armies. Good to know. I guess its more interesting if you have a group which decides together what the goal of the characters will be.
Valaria Alazario |
Werewolf-vampire war? Ouch, that must have been quite the time. That kind of thing never goes well.
The game I ran was supposed to be the unmasking of the world, so to speak. The apocalypse was starting and the magic was all starting to come out in the open as all the bad s+@% caught up with the world. I had a bunch of plans, but the campaign never quite got off the ground.
Ary Bishop |
Most of my games didn't last exceptionally long. The longest running one I had was 'off the cuff' where I was running an adventure nightly for my group. It was a summer where we'd all bunkered down in one person's house. It was glorious.
Anywho, it's mostly about catering to what your players are looking for, and your players knowing what they like and want. If they're playing something they won't enjoy, it just won't work.
If they want a political game, combat game, social game, philosophical game...
The biggest thing is that if you want a long-lived campaign, you either need an amazing storyteller and a group that will stick around for a good story... or several DMs who are willing to step in to handle things.
My favorite idea for it is running a werewolf campaign where everyone is the DM of one of the other player's auspices. So effectively, you can run a combat, and then when it comes to social, you can divide out what everyone wants to have happen, and everyone knows who is doing what... instead of the DM giving each individual facetime in a giant city.
Markus Coffinborn |
My longest game lasted ten months. I've GMed two different campaigns that have lasted that long, one more that lasted three, and I'm hoping the one I GM currently lasts about two years.
Ehren Ferron |
I got bored so here are more musings.
My computer reset on me and ate all the math (not bored enough to redo it :P), but the value of the pauldrons alone will cover Isilme's plan, Annabelle's new equipment, the two scrolls of fly, and then some.
I could argue that a bag of holding is more reliable than holding on to the muleback cords, but stuffing somebody into the bag probably takes a lot longer than just picking them up. A shame, since the pauldrons are fairly powerful, but I'm not crying over them. 2,500 gp for the storage space is probably worth it, though. Since Hinagiku can hold her breath forever, we could theoretically sneak her around in the bag. Whether this is tactically feasible remains to be seen. :P
A cold iron bane-anything would be 4,300 gp on top of the weapon's base price, which is affordable to us right now, but still pretty danged steep. Even more so for the ring of spell knowledge II, which on its own would eat up all of the commendations.
Expensive toys, but also very, very shiny. :O
Ary Bishop |
I'm more interested in a swarmbane clasp than anything on -someone- before we go into the more frivolous things.
It'd be kind of amazing to go vermin bane on the person who has them. Just to be like 'Did someone call Orkin?'
Valaria Alazario |
I like my muleback chords because they let me wear armor without going into medium encumbrance.
Ary Bishop |
I also like my Muleback Cords because they scale with level. :3
On the bright side, we can have enchantments overlaid on them later, I'm sure. :)
Also.. they don't die when you put a long spear in them.
Isilme |
Keep (Not selling these because they could come in quite handy, and we don't need the money, suggestions for who should take it)
Potion of Bull’s Strength -> Ary, Hinagiku or Annabelle
Potion of Shield of Faith -> Hinagiku or Ary

1 scroll of blink (375 gp)
2 scroll of borrow skill (25 gp ea; 50 gp)
1 potion of fly (700gp) (Emergency only, recommend val take it)
2 scrolls of fly (750 gp)

One masterwork cold iron glaive (316 gp) (annabelle)
Masterwork Darkwood Composite Shortbow, 10 str (395gp) (Isilme)

I'd suggest also getting the swarmbane clasp now. If no one objects, then 200gp of darkwood buckler and 300gp from composite shortbow will move onto 3500gp commendation leaving us with:
Remaining Gold: 1936.5 gp + 0 gp commendation + whatever money we had in party (221.5 gp according to sheet)

No worries. And I hope that you had a good Valentine's Day with your fella.
I spent single's appreciation day with my friends. We ordered pizza and watched Tombstone. It may be the best western I've seen in ages.
Ary Bishop |
Did you eat a tombstone while watching tombstone? :)
I just stayed home and watched netflix/hulu with my best friend, so there's that :p
Valaria Alazario |
Dominos actually. The movie was awesome though. Kurt Russel as Wyatt Earp and Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. It was glorious.
Ary Bishop |
Never seen. 'Doc Holiday' is a common reference, though... so it's apparently good :p
Valaria Alazario |
It starts with Wyatt coming to Tombstone, goes through the OK Corral and ends with the legendary Earp Vengeance Ride.
Hinagiku |
Choice wise, how is Hulu? Better/worse than Neflix? Does it have anime?
Also, sorry, just realized that Hinagiku did want an item (although, I kinda doubt that they would be selling it in Nerosyan).
So:
Cold Iron kyogetsu soge (12 gp).
@Kiora: When I built Hinagiku, I had in mind that she did not know how to use weapons. So far, it has not really been an issue (she used the longspear twice). So, I was wondering, what would you consider as appropriate training for her to show some proficiency with the longspear and kyogetsu soge?
GM Kiora |
It's an exotic weapon, so, I can just introduce an NPC for ya. I have a Tien guy in mind, actually. Just make sure you actually have her ask him about it :p then we can have a training montage
They'll also be able to get you the kyogetsu soge :P Will make more sense than sarenrae lady having one hehe
Ary Bishop |
I'm told that Hulu has a huge amount of Anime, but be warned: Every country has different access on Netflix and Hulu. They get rights to certain shows in certain places. You can't watch a lot that's on Hulu without a subscription here (It locks older episodes), but I do watch it to catch up on current television (Instead of actual television).
I use Netflix to binge, Hulu to stay caught up, and Youtube for filler. :)
You can (illegally) gain access to stuff on those websites that aren't available in your country, but literally the only thing I know about using proxies is how dangerous it is for your computer's well-being. :)

Thanks Ary. I will definitely look into Hulu.

I had a lot of gin and watched Red and xXx, s+$&ty action movies with lots of explosions, with my girlfriend.
Overall not a very good Valentine's Day, considering the hangover of this morning...
Valaria Alazario |
Hehe, this is going to be good.
Ary Bishop |
Hm. In character (like, spelled out in the game), the only time Aron has come up was with Markus (in private), and during Story Time while Ary was off getting Horgus sheets. So I know -nothing-. :)
Valaria Alazario |
I'm pretty sure she also mentioned him to Val while they were in jail together.
Ary Bishop |
You were there for Story Time with Isilme regardless. :)
She might have mentioned him in some other spot, but I know Ary's not familiar with his name - it hasn't really come up.
Markus Coffinborn |
I don't know whether to be afraid that he'll kill me, or to be afraid that he'll kill her.
Not that I'm certain he could beat either of us in a fight, but it's still a bad situation either way.
Ehren Ferron |
I dunno... I can't quite figure out why, but I'm getting a "Die you monster, you don't belong in this world!" vibe from his character art. :P
