Haha, good luck packing and stuff Isilme :)

Anyway, I was going to give you guys a scene change, but since I'm working until 7pm tonight I decided I didn't wanna change the scene and leave y'all hanging all day.

So I left you some creepy Annabelle vampire s@~* to read instead :P

At least I'm not working a double today!

Anyway - you are all ~traveling~, Helha and Edgar are asleep (unless someone decides to wake them up), so feel free to roleplay amongst yourselves if you wish. I figure Hinagiku and Isilme/Valaria should have some stuff to talk about at the very least.

WRONG ALIAS

Thanks! Got most everything packed last night, so it's cleaning day today :p

Good day for a slow day I think : )

Do they often make you work doubles back to back? I have a friend who is a lab tech, and they're forever putting that kind of load on her. Of course they're also chronically understaffed. This last spring she went something like 3 months without a day off. : \

Also the Annabelle stuff is great as always, I'm just worried this is really gonna end in a tragedy at the rate it's going : \

I'll try to pop in later and post something.

Going to the museum, there is an exhibit on Rodin. It should be pretty cool. I'll write as soon as I come back.

@Isilme: way to find an apartment and pack fast. How are you going to be moving your stuff?

Ooh I'm happy for you. We're actually gearing to move to a new home (same city though) and I'm dreading packing and stuff. We have a lot of stuff, fragile collectibles, that sort of thing..

Anyway I'm glad you're digging Annabelle. She's fun to write about! It'd be sad if things went tragic with her but I've been prepared for that possibility.

as four working crazy hours, I don't normally work so much but I don't mind it. I actually think working 7 on 7 off would be my ideal kinda schedule.

Working weekends in healthcare is usually slow, anyway, cause most doctors take the weekend off and I literally can't do much without ppl writing prescriptions haha. Yesterday was an anomaly... Very busy

WRONG ALIAS

Ooh, Rodin. There was a nice collection of Rodin statues in the plaza behind the Crow Collection of Asian Art in Dallas. It was a really nice to be able to see them, even if they were later castings of the statues. If you're ever in Dallas, the Crow Collection is worth checking out too : )

As far as moving goes, just getting movers to drive it up. I did enough dragging my own stuff around to have earned that. We did quite a marathon of apt. hunting that weekend I was in DC though, like 16 apartments in two days :p

Kiora: Nice, grats! My stuff is the same way, so I feel your pain : )

Hope everything goes smoothly for y'all when the time comes!

I moved a ton when I was younger. I hate moving so much. I actually don't have a lot of things, which makes it great for moving. Unfortunately, the rest of my family has always been the sort to have 2.5 houses worth of things. Most of which tiny and breakable. :P

It's definitely no fun moving.

WRONG ALIAS

I agree completely Ary. I totally hate it! I've moved a half-dozen times already. Sooner I'm done moving, the better, but alas it'll probably a few moves yet before we're able to settle down in one place.

I've moved 15. :) 4 homes in the Detroit area and 12 in the Cumberland Plateau. At the moment, I live in a house I'm paying a mortgage on... so if everything goes right, in 25ish years... I won't have to move again. :P

It's not bad. I paid extra for a single room every semester, so it's pretty nice.

WRONG ALIAS

Single room is nice. I managed to avoid ever living in a dorm, but if I did I'd totally have gone for a single room if I could :p

If I add up every move I've done in my life, under my own volition or not, from birth, I've got 15 :o

Have lived in Spain, Florida, Texas, and North Carolina in that time, and in that order ;)

Edit: Also, having your own house is wonderful. I'd totally settled down in one before I decided to go back and get my degrees. Ended up selling it at that point since it wasn't close to my school. I don't miss mowing the lawn though : p

My school basically requires everyone to live on campus.

I've only ever moved once in my entire life. It was kind of nice to stay in one place.

Sculptures of crows, sounds interesting!

I have to say I was slightly disappointed by the exhibit, the information on the process of making the sculptures was interesting, but the sculptures were okay. So far, the most interesting sculptures I saw were in Oslo. A park filled with them, pretty impressive.

On moving: wow, you all moved so much... I moved 3 times in my life (I am 30).

I can hardly count the number of times I've chosen to move. Being only 20 means my adult life has been so short.

Most of my moving was when I was younger. I totaled 7 different schools (excluding the brief stint in college). It'd have been more, had it not for there being only one high school in my area. :P

Since adulthood, I've moved a grand total of three times. Once to be closer to school, once because I was needed, and once because house.

WRONG ALIAS

Hinagiku: Crow is just the family name of the people who started it. It's a really nice collection of asian art, including some really spectacular jade carvings and various other things. It's also the place I saw the mandala I linked earlier in the thread. The Tibetan monks come there once a year and create a mandala over the course of a week. I think it's my wife's as well as my favorite museum in Dallas.

Re: Moving - Ahh ok, that makes sense : )
Still, 15 and 20 moves is quite a bit, definitely way more than I had at y'all's ages ;)

Some of my friends in Texas have moved like once or twice in their entire lives. I have a group of friends that's from a small backwater town near D/FW, and they all moved from there after HS and haven't really moved since.

No need to angst. We're just not being as chatty as usual, in character. It's an extension of me being tired. I'm sure that's true for several others as well. So I've been thinking about the vampire template and Annabelle, and I realized something...

The vampire template gives a whole bunch of bonus feats. Do you want her to get those at level 9 with the rest of the vampire functions? It's like... seven bonus feats, that's a pretty huge power spike.

I see three easy alternates:

1. Gain one of them at levels 5, 7, and 9, forgo the rest
2. Gain one or two of them at level 5 and 7, gain the rest at level 9
3. Forgo all of them

Thoughts? GM?

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Haha "relatively competent", funny!

I'll think about the bonus feats today. Give me a sec.

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

Markus:

So, vampire bonus feats are: Alertness, Combat Reflexes, Dodge, Improved Initiative, Lightning Reflexes, and Toughness.

None of these are like... game-breakingly nuts. They'll certainly make her more powerful than other cohorts - but you have both a feat and a major class feature invested into her, so I think this makes sense.

I'm gonna go with toughness and alertness at level 5, Dodge/Improved Initiative/Lightning Reflexes at level 7, Combat Reflexes at 9, all as bonus feats. Savvy?

Stick that on her alias please before I forget I said anything haha.

Thoughts on aid another:

In the past there has been some confusion revolving around aid another. So let's clarify how I want it to be used:

Aid another is a standard action. When used in combat, a natural 1 always fails. When used to pump skills, a natural 1 does not fail.

When used in combat, you must be adjacent to the person you are aiding for it to work for a physical roll. No aiding a climb check from across the room, please. Social skills, on the other hand, are fine.

When used to pump skills, you absolutely can aid another after someone makes a roll and fails. Or you can aid another beforehand.

However, I do want you to choose. I don't want you to roll a skill, and then add on "or use as an aid another if you want". Decide if you want to roll for the skill or aid another in your post. Don't do both.

Try to designate who you are aiding, if possible. Don't be vague, unless there is absolutely no one to aid because you are the first person responding to a skill challenge.

You can totally band forces and have 5 people aid another for a total of +10. There will probably be circumstances where I expect you to. The idea is: teamwork! Better than the sum of your parts ;)

If you aid another a roll, and your aid another is sufficient to bring that check high enough to click on a spoiler, you are allowed to look at that spoiler, too.

For example:

I give a series of knowledge checks to identify a gibbering mouther. DC 10/15/20

Markus makes a K. Arcana check for 18. He writes a post where he explains some of the information under the DC 10/15 check. But that 18 is so close... but not enough for him to click on the DC 20 check and remember what it means that they "gibber". So Isilme aids another. She clicks on the DC 20 check and says something like "Oh, I've heard of those too. I heard that when they eat people, they start to babble, which can drive people insane!".

The reason I prefer this is because it avoids unnecessary back-and-forth of Isilme aiding the roll, relying on Markus to realize that she aided him and then to click on the spoiler and reveal the information.

Male Oread (Kellid) Legendary Druid 11/Hierophant 4 | HP 97/137 | AC 24, T 23, FF 19 | Fort +8, Ref +6, Will +18 | CMD 27 | Resist Acid 10 | SR 13 (evil outsiders), 17 (demons) | Init +2 | Perception +22 | MP 1/11 | LP 2/2 | PM 8/11 | SP 10/10

Since we're clarifying... does a skill have to be trained to use it to aid someone? An Aid Another check is DC 10, which also so happens to be the maximum DC for an untrained Knowledge check. So could Ehren aid someone's K(planes) check of 28 up to 30, and somehow know whatever obscure piece of information is behind that spoiler milestone?

WotR Global Buffs/Debuffs: ----

If the skill is a trained skill, you must have it trained to aid another, even though the DC is only 10.

The same goes for skills that have certain uses of them that require training. Such as survival - you must have a rank in survival to track footprints, even though survival is not a trained skill.

If you have something that allows you to make skill checks untrained, then that applies to aid another also.

I'll get everything together tonight.

Ary crybaby time: I hate working with the new girl so much. I'd get done faster without her here, because I have to show her how she's doing it wrong, then argue with her about why my way is right.

' Do we have to clean the outside runs before we take the next set out?'
"Yes."
'Why? They're just going to make another mess. Why not just clean them all at the end once.'
"Remember when you got covered in icky gross stuff and was complaining you could get staph?"
'That was different, that was all over me, this is the dogs.'
"Yes, it is different. There's a lot more stuff in there that will make the dogs sick than will make you sick. By not having them walk around in that, we help them to not get sick while we're here. They stay cleaner, go home cleaner, and it's fifteen minutes of extra work to do so."
'Well, they're still going to make messes in their rooms, so they won't go home cleaner.'
"But it will be their messes, and not someone else's. It's a lot less cleaning in the long run, trust me."

He seems to switch between not knowing how we're supposed to organize the storage room and being anal to the point of obnoxiousness with how to organize everything on a whim. My guess is he overcompensates when someone corrects him, then forgets again by the next time we work together.

I have a google document that is basically just random notes. Pbp stuff. Grocery list. Stuff to do. I don't delete it, I just delete the stuff I don't need a note about anymore :P

The value is that I can access it anywhere, which is important. But I jump from computer to computer to phone to tablet to computer a lot.

"Yes."

That sucks.

Sounds like they're just lazy! You can't reason with laziness. I've tried.
