Delric Proudmane |
"Delightful, a mystery where everyone is probably long dead. I'm sure Venture Captain Drangle Dreng won't mind our delay in his bringing his bottle of hoch, while we investigate. Gnomes live a long time, maybe he is still alive, let's check."
GM.Kashka |
The party heads towards Fimbrik's home..
A brick step leads to Fimbrik’s front entrance, which is locked with a rusty lock... Numerous stacks of newspapers are piled around the door and crammed into a thin slot at its base. Each rounded corner of the building has a large window, allowing creatures to look into the structure without difficulty.
Lyran Dorval |
"The evidence certainly suggests that no one has lived in in some time."
Lyran moves to the other corner of the building and looks in.
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
GM.Kashka |
Tera steps over the pile of papers to knock.
Delric moves to the left to peer in a window...
An empty bedroom.
Lyran moves to the right
A gnome is seated at the table reading a book.
Lyran Dorval |
Lyran whistles to get the attention of Tera, "I see a gnome in here. He's just sat in this study area reading."
He knocks on the window to try to get the gnomes attention.
GM.Kashka |
The gnome does not react.
Tera Fosham |
"I can try to unlock the door. Would you like me to try? Keep an eye out for anyone too interested in what I'm doing." If no one objects, Tera kneels and begins to try to pick the lock. That's not it. Let me try again. She goes back to picking the lock. That's better.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Disable Device: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
GM.Kashka |
Tera's second try unlocks the door.
Noone notices any change inside.
Lyran Dorval |
Such a rude person not to acknowledge someone knocking at your window.
"I'm going to check further around the building to look for other windows or entrances." says Lyran as he walks around the corner of the building.
Hmir Stonegrudge |
Hmir nods at Tera with a gruff snort.
"Fine lass, I'll go.... no heroic deeds were dun sittin about."
The muscled dwarf swings the door open and moves in.
Lyran Dorval |
Lyran hears the dwarven voice and the door being opened and decides he'd best head back to the front of the house and stick with the group.
GM.Kashka |
A large sofa sits awkwardly near the entrance, facing toward the center of the room. Sets of chairs and tables are arranged throughout, and statues of grandiose gnomes occupy the corners of the room. A set of stairs at the northern edge of the chamber leads to an unused basement filled with stacked newspapers. A second set of stairs leads up to an unfinished second floor.
As the party starts to look throughout the room... Hmir sets off a trap! 3 Fire beetles appear!

GM.Kashka |
Having dispatched the summoned beetles... the party begins searching the home.
In the room to the right.. you find what turns out to be an illusion of Fimbrick. An examination of the table in the southwest corner reveals a neatly penned letter: Slide 7.
Underneath the letter is a hastily scrawled note in similar handwriting Hollis “Evil Grin” Thorne
A long-forgotten potion of cure moderate wounds and potion of lesser restoration sit on the northwest windowsill.
Lyran Dorval |
"Well the evidence here points to this gnome being long gone, but at least they had the decency to leave a note. That is the second time we have seen this name mentioned. Maybe we should go and to investigate the wall of names and see what significance these names have?"
GM.Kashka |
The party heads for the Grand Lodge, to the Wall of Names and finds the three names with inscriptions slide 8
Lyran Dorval |
"These names do not mean anything to me, even if they have strange markings i don't know what they mean. I must assume these is something special about Hollis “Evil Grin” Thorne for that name to be on the note at the gnome's house though."
GM.Kashka |
only 1 check - highest of the three
Delric and Lyran cannot figure out the symbology of these names.
Hmir Stonegrudge |
"Write em down an let's ask one o the scholars in tha library... there be learned men all about this place - an tha city proper fer that matter. No need to bang yer head on the stone mullin it about"
Tera Fosham |
"I'm afraid I can't help with figuring out the significance of these names. Yes as Hmir suggested asking at the Lodge might be our best chance of finding out what we need to know." She starts toward the lodge to see if she can find anyone who knows what the names mean.
Lyran Dorval |
"Maybe one of the people over at The Wisp could help us? Janira always seems to be quite knowledgeable."
GM.Kashka |
i suggest you look over each of your clues gathered thus far. *cough slide 4*cough*
Lyran Dorval |
We have somewhere else to go, but we seems focused on this clue right now. That's easily fixed though.
"We have an additional location to visit too. This person named Arkath may have quite literally taken something to the grave with him. While we ponder these names maybe we should go and investigate his mausoleum."
Tera Fosham |
"Of course Hmir. I'll be happy to help." She touches him on the arm and concentrates. Her eyes glow slightly behind her veil, and som of Hmir's wounds are healed.

CWL: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
GM.Kashka |
Details left by Selmius Foster indicate the location of Arkath’s burial site: a plot of land in Eastgate operated by followers of Seranrae.
As you approach the necropolis, a quick lookout over the area shows a single female cleric tending the grounds.
