Spidre |
Spidre slashes at the rats at his feet. Or, perhaps more accurately, his legs.

Spidre CON: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Thyra CON: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
The injured crawler lashes Spidre with its venomous tendril, but it doesn't seem to affect him. The other, however, infects Thyra with muscle-tensing venom and the dwarf goes as rigid as stone! Paralyzed for 1 minute.
Party up!
Spidre |
Spidre cuts into the crawlers, his blades still dripping with gore from the rats.

"Tired o' all these bugs, call an exterminata, not us adventera's"
My bad, when I leveled up, I accidentally added the +2 from my battleaxe again to my damage, sorry :(. I also forgot to note that my proficiency bonus goes up. So my attack is +10, my damage is +7. Sorry!!
Thyra Fireforge |
I didn't want to take all the glory of squashing these bugs, that and I kind of figured it might be dead after Pietro's and I's attack, but I'll take it now. .
Attack 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Mirrel |
Mirrel concentrates on his spell, continuing to impair the bug.
Am I able to use my sling whilst concentrating on bane? It seems to me that my mandolin is my spell focus, so since bane has material components and I'd be using that my hands are full...
If not I'll just concentrate on my spell. If I can also attack with my sling:
Sling: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21,Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
GM Jiggy |
I don't think you have to continue using the components of a spell as you concentrate on it.
Mirrel gives the crawler a good solid bonk on the head. The injured crawler finally realizes that he's not the predator in this situation and tries to scooch away, quickly getting pulverized by the whole party.
Out of combat. Any resting or anything before moving on?
Spidre |
Second Wind: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Spidre takes a moment to catch his breath after the violent incident. He briefly considers the practicality of exterminating rats from the entire world, but then settles for his current objective instead.
Thyra Fireforge |
After a minute or so, Thyra's muscles unclench and she once again has control over her own body. "Aye, yeah, I've got one," drawing one out of her pack and handing it to Halsere, "'Ere ya go,"
GM Jiggy |
After a quick drink, you get back to your explorations.
INT: 1d20 + 4 + 1d4 ⇒ (14) + 4 + (1) = 19
1d100 ⇒ 35
Halsere seems to have found his groove again, and you can see the wheels turning in his head as he pieces things together and builds a mental map of this ridiculous labyrinth. After several minutes, Spidre's spider once again reports danger from the other side of a teleporter.
1d100 ⇒ 33
Unfortunately, Spidre wasn't quick enough, and his familiar is squished before he can be recalled.
Stepping into the teleporter, you exit face-to-face with a group of undead and a pair of clerics!
Halsere: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Mirrel: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Pietro: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Thyra: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Skeletons: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Clerics: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
Huh. I guess it's "all of you" followed by "all of them". This shouldn't be hard.
You are standing in a passageway that comes to a four-way crossroads. As usual, the passages are all 15ft wide. Standing in the center of the intersection, mere feet ahead of you, is a group of four skeletons standing in front of a pair of clerics. They all have weapons drawn, and one of the skeletons' swords has spider guts hanging off of it.
Party up!
Thyra Fireforge |
Thyra will look around at the massacre before and then move to see if one of the clerics are still alive and if they are to try and stabilize them somehow.
medicine: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
"Ya've witnessed the strength of me friends god. It crushed ya but we aren't without a bit o' mercy." Thyra will try to help that one sit up. "We just have some questions for ya"
Thyra Fireforge |
"Hm, are we far ta tha center? What are ya doin' in this maze?"
She'll look around at her companions, wondering if they have any more questions.
Halsere Chael-Oren |
And more to the point can you sketch up a map for us? Seems a reasonable exchange for your life
Mirrel |
"More than reasonable, I'd say" agrees Mirrel, nodding towards the shattered skeletons. "If you were to die, no doubt your friends will soon be adding you to their 'collection' - not quite the glorious position you're used to hey? Tell us what you know and you can fend off that fate for at least one more day."
GM Jiggy |
Thank goodness for bounded accuracy; that actually succeeds.
The wounded cleric nods, and you hand him some paper and pencils. It takes some time, due to the size of the maze and the fact that he has to mark all the teleporters and where they drop you, but eventually you have in your hands a sketched map of the maze, including a marked exit and an "X" where you currently are. Before passing out again, the cleric also informs you that the monsters and patrols (such as him and his group) move around a lot, so he can't tell you where they'll be.
Armed with your new map (Well done!) you proceed on the winding and teleporty path toward the maze's end.
No more checks, and one last random encounter roll:
1d100 ⇒ 81
You come across the occasional stray rat or skeleton, but don't encounter any groups big enough to be a real threat. Eventually, you find a door, which opens to a stairwell heading even further down into the earth.
At the bottom of the stairs, the dungeon branches north, west, and south.
Which way? And anything else you want to do before I advance you any further?
GM Jiggy |
Now that we're out of the maze, I'll assume for the moment a more standard front rank of Thyra and Spidre.
Trying the north branch, you find it to be primarily a northward hallway with the occasional side room for basic storage and whatnot. After passing a couple of such rooms, you approach a branch to the right, look inside, and seven orcs in ragged slaves' clothes whipping a dwarf who is chained to the back wall of a large room. Lining the wall are other chained prisoners, and you can't tell if they're unconscious or dead. The whipped dwarf's whimpers grow gradually quieter and weaker...
Thyra Fireforge |
Thyra will step forward into the room, weapon at the ready, "Ya better have a good reason fer this or yer like ta feel tha bite o' me axe"
Thyra Fireforge |
I know, I probably should have just charged and killed all those Orcs but well what if that Dwarf is evil, sometimes appearances can be deceiving. Like with Spidre! Intimidating and callous but Thyra counts him as a friend and has learned that appearances can be deceiving because of her friendship with him!
GM Jiggy |
Welp, that's happening I guess.
The orcs whirl around, see you, and shout curses as they draw simple clubs from their belts and attack!
