Sorry guys, I'm trying to keep up with everything, but its been more difficult than usual as I'm starting a new job on Monday and I have to complete a whole bunch of online training things for them before hand.
Congrats on the new job! Hope it's a good one.
GM Fez |
Ok, so here's my situation now. My new job has me on a 4-10 schedule and I've got an hour drive to and from work. Normally I'd log in from work during down time, but I don't have access to google drive or outside sites because of the products being built. I'm going to try and figure out how I'll be able to keep running games with the lack of time.
Harg |
Really rough. I don't miss long commutes like that. Locking down user access is rough, but a curse of some companies, I guess.
I wish it was eaiser to post to sites like this from the phone. Its weirdly hard to do. Looking up stats, module, making sure you type [ooc] right.. ha
Do whatever you gotta do. I am very much enjoying this game. Would be happy with a once a week thing on your day off.. Or whatever makes sense.
Take care.. and maybe sneak in a laptop and use your cell phone's signal to post on the laptop.. I mean.. if you can avoid getting caught :)

As I've already said: Take your time. Figure things out. We are not going anywhere good sir.
=)

@Harg - Years back, there used to be this app called Wayfinder that would help do all of the formatting for Paizo PbP on a phone. Made it super easy to post. But whoever built the app stopped supporting it and it broke. I miss it.
@GM Fez - Thanks so much for the update. 4-10 schedule makes for a long day but nice weekends! Definitely a lot of work to GM, and I really appreciate the work you've put into this game.
Harg |
@Braden - I have been super tempted to make an iOS and Android app to do PbP type game. There are some out there, but they do FAR too much. Try to encase it all together. I am hoping for basically this forum experience but on the phone. Not sure how I will do character sheets or Maps yet, but I have started to design it out. Could be super fun project to stretch my mobile app development skills.
Govrina Fireblood |
Go for it! Once you have it running for Paizo, then adapt it to other web-PBP boards too. I would kill for something that works on my IPhone too. Heck..I'd definitely pay for that! Put it up on an App store and charge $4.99 for it. It would be worth it.
=)
Harg |
Heck.. That is some encouragement right there.
I am a bit worried it wont work within existing website/forums. Might need to be exist in its own threads.. Or maybe a website that could be accessed like normal and also via mobile.
Don't believe there is an API for the forum at all. Might be a bit tricky to "fake" normal posts. Especially if Paizo change anything on their forum.
Still, gotta start somewhere. Maybe start with its own little micro PbP board. With notifications on new posts, or mentions of your/character name. etc.
I have plans.....
GM Fez |
I'm really sorry about this everyone, but I'm going to be dropping all of my games. I just don't have the bandwidth to run games with the new job, my one year old, and another on the way (my wife's nesting instincts are running hard which means all sorts of house projects for me to do).
You guys are a great group and I wish I could finish the first book for you. All that's left is the final assault on the camp (minus a bugbear, worg, and 4 hobgoblins), so when you pick up a new GM it shouldn't be too difficult to get up and going again. Good luck all.
Govrina Fireblood |
Ouch. GM Fez has been with us since our previous game too. We understand.
So do we want to look for another GM guys? I would like to keep going if we can.
Harg |
Oh boy. GM Fez I wish you the absolute best of luck! Life always takes priority
I am down for looking for a GM. I already picked up the Iron God's game and really want to play. I have enjoyed this group and the game so far, even if I was not one of the starting few.
Braden Swanson |
Farewell, GM Fez. I totally get it. When my job got crazy, and with a newborn at home too, I had to step away from posting for quite a bit. I wasn't GMing any games either, which is way harder. Spend more time with the wife and kiddos, you won't regret it.
I'm certainly open to continuing if we find another GM. We have a good little group.
Govrina Fireblood |
OK...I usually start by suggesting we contact any GMs you know and are already running games you enjoy. Once we hear from them, and if nobody accepts, we can open it up to others with an official recruitment thread request as needed. Sound fair?
Harg |
Sounds good. I, sadly, don't have any GMs I know here. All of the games I have played in have died off.
Maybe one of you will have better luck with that. Let me know if I can help with recruitment or anything.
Govrina Fireblood |
You can check with some of your older GMs, or players you like that could be willing to run a game?
Either way go ahead and write up a simple post for us for GM Recruitment if you can. But don't post it until we check with our other possibilities. Cool? =)
Braden Swanson |
I definitely can't impose on the GMs I know, who are at various degrees of busy right now. If you have a GM who might be willing to jump in, I am all for it!
Govrina Fireblood |
It can't hurt to ask really. The worst any of them can say is 'NO.' Right?
=/
I know some GM's are itching to try/run certain game APs and such. Or are looking for a new game to run and would rather pick up a game already in progress than start a new one. You never know?
=)
Govrina Fireblood |
I'm still currently looking for a job and my time and money are running out. Can somebody else put up a GM recruitment request and monitor it? My job now is just trying to find a new job until I get one and managing a 6 year old while he is distance learning from home. What little spare time I have goes to these games usually.
NOTE: I have already contacted GMs I know and none are interested in picking up new game right now. If anybody knows a competent GM (or player) they really like...feel free to check with them too to see if they want to run.
Braden Swanson |
Really sorry to hear about your employment situation, wishing you the best on that.
GM recruitment post is up!
Harg |
Yes I echo the sentiment of Braden. Hopefully things can get sorted soon.
Right now COVID and the smoke in the air (its unhealthy to just go outside and we need filters running inside house), makes everything hard. Let alone with a kid (3 years in my case). I wish you the best getting it sorted.
Thanks Braden, it looks like a great post. I will jump in at some point and read through any posts.
Braden Swanson |
You must be out west too, then. Sun came out and air quality was good last night into today, a huge blessing. Hoping it sticks and these fires get under control.
Harg |
Its still "unhealthy" where I am. About 165 AQI still.
We are all a bit stur crazy in the house. Had to grab a house fan filter and duct tape it to a box fan. Cleaning out the air inside.
My nose is rebelling...
Harg |
Just sent you mine.
Heads up I have World is Square House Rules, and Community Pack installed.
I don't use WiS in this game at all, so that should not affect the Portfolio file. But I do use the community pack for more adjustments and stuff. No 3rd party stuff, just things to make the system work a bit better.
Thanks again!
Govrina Fireblood |
Sorry no Hero Lab. I can send you a copy of my character in Excel or similar if needed.
Braden Swanson |
Hooray! So glad to have you aboard, GM Spazmodeus!
Also no HeroLab here. My archetype combination (Naturalist, Reliquarian) is technically illegal because both modify mental focus. But there is no conflict on any practical level. Wanted to flag that in case HeroLab gets upset.
Braden Swanson |
Thanks! I appreciate that. I think Naturalist is a more logical fit for the character.
Harg |
@GM - Should chat with you about Sword intentions. So far I have been RPing the Sword as well as myself, so I can have dialog with it without slowing down stuff. But one of the flavors of the archetype is that the sword has a goal, but it is not always clear about it. It shares my Alignment which is LG (but leans toward LN at times). The sword currently likes to be used and likes cusing damage to "evil".
If you have ever read the Brandon Sanderson Book Warbreaker (or in many of his Cosmere books), that is the flavor I am giving it. But maybe more "good" than that.
I am happy to just keep doing the RP for it. If you want to jump in with things it knows that I don't. Go for it. I try to keep the RP not too intrusive with others. Really I don't think I have ever straight talked to everyone about it in game yet. Maybe eventually.
Govrina Fireblood |
We have heard mutterings...but nothing solid yet. No serious 'is he losing it?' moments to date that I can think of. Otherwise Harg's sword is just an odd-looking sword to us for now.
GM Spazmodeus |
Sorry Harg, didn't forget about your question!
Haven't read those books, but I'll have to check them out!
Keep doing what you're doing, even if your friends give you strange looks from time to time...I'll interject where needed.
Looks like the sword will start to get smarter, so at the time I'll take a more active voice in how the sword acts.
Re-start soon, just getting characters into herolab, maps ready etc...
Harg |
Yeah that works for me. I figured it is easy enough for me to just RP the sword for now. I will totally welcome any interjection from you. Right now I am still "getting to know" it.
If you love Fantasy, I can't suggest enough Brandon Sanderson. There is one giant connected story/universe with like 8 very separate stories. They start to join together and you start to notice characters from one in another. It's so exciting when you pick up a connection.
Map of the Cosmere with where to start
That is a graph of the book series. I Love the mistborn books (Scadrial) books, but Nightblood is in Nalthis and later in the Roshar books.
Anyway. I could go on, but he is one of my favorite authors. Let me know if you pick one up.. :)
Braden Swanson |
Thanks for checking in, sounds good!
Vraxis Coldfire |
I've been dealing with a lot lately but hopefully will be straightened out by the time things get rolling again.
Braden Swanson |
Hang in there, Vraxis. Thanks for checking in, and best of luck.
Harg |
So I was pursuing the Recruitment thread and ran across a homebrew Starfinder game that is not getting much attention. I would love for it to start.
If anyone is interested in submitting to it. I would love a chance to play starfinder (only GMed and played in one game that died after a week).
In interest of making it go through I thought I would petition my other games!
Harg |
Just wanted to check in.. Was thinking about this game last night, and wanted to know if its still on..
@GM Spazmodeus - you still there? Excited to continue
Otherwise should we try to find another GM. Everyone still around?
Harg |
Makes sense. It feels like we are at the final stretch of book 1.. at least that is the feeling I get from AP experience. Thanks for being careful :)
Braden Swanson |
Lol, they keep coming back to life!
Govrina Fireblood |
Well...one generic Hobgoblin or two extra won't bug me any. Now if it was a dragon re-spawn? Nope. Nada. Neg-i-tory good buddy. Not gonna do it...(no re-spawns!)
