GM Higaki |
Alright, giving Darb/Nori until tonight to make their surprise rounds, then botting them and moving on!
GM Higaki |
Darb moves forward and stabs at the creepy kobold.
Darb stab @ robed kobold: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Damage on hit: 1d3 - 1 + 1d8 ⇒ (3) - 1 + (5) = 7
But he hears a clank as he hits metal armor.
The lone skeleton turns around to slash at Darb with its clawed hands.
Blue Skel claw @ Darb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Damage on hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Blue Skel claw @ Darb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage on hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Party up!

Nighttail turns her head as they party savagely assaults the kobold priestess, her unconscious form hitting the ground hard. Nighttail and Hak then make short work of the last skeleton.
Loots later!

Looking over the body, there is a gold unholy symbol of some strange god Don't think anyone has the knowledge religion for that. There is also a small set of chainmail, a masterwork quality quarterstaff (on both ends), three light blue vials, and a crimson red cloak.
From the path ahead, there is a gated chamber to the north and the path continues to wind the westward direction.
Map updated!
Wakiyan |
"Can anyone identify these? Also, Nighttail where do these tunnels lead?"
Carefully looks down each tunnel for trouble and is ready to sneak again if they look clear.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Stealthing: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

"I have some talent with alchemy." Nori takes the blue vials and begins a quick test of viscosity, fragrance, and mixture identification. i.e. B~&~%!~&
Craft(A): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
GM Higaki |
Nori can only figure out that the liquid really needs a flavoring agent.... blech!
Nighttail shakes her head to Wakiyan ' s question. "I don't know for sure. I haven't been down here before."
Wakiyan finds that he hears footsteps beyond the gate. He doesn't find anything of note from the other tunnel. Gate is unlocked.
To the gate or beyond?
Wakiyan |
Quietly whispering to the party.
"Considering I don't hear the footsteps down both hallways. I would suggest the party only going one way. I think they will split up. I don't care which way. I will let who's point decide."
Moves to his spot in line and is ready to go!
GM Higaki |
The party takes some rope, securing the gate for the time being.
The party makes their way forward. Wakiyan, however, feels that the walls of the tunnel are covered in oil.
Map updated. The darkened cave sections are what is coated in the oil.
GM Higaki |
Nighttail Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Nighttail doesn't note anything, but agrees with Nori's assumption. "If they heard any of the other fighting, then being in the middle here is a bad idea."
GM Higaki |
Jinx lights the oil. The glare of the fire's illumination burns brights for about a half a minute until the sound of several glass vials breaking is heard and an audible WHOOSH of flame causes the cavern to instantly warm up, even at your distance.
Only the crackling sound of a few small fires in the tunnel safe unless you want to touch it.
Moving forward?
Nori Nao |
Nori puts her mask up over her nose as the smoke builds up in the tunnel. She creeps forward though she's pretty sure any chance of surprise just went up in smoke. eh? eh? see what I did there?
GM Higaki |
Jinx leads the way to the end of the tunnel. At the top of the rough-hewn steps is a large cave, the floor strewn with fresh straw. The bones of many different creatures, animal and humanoid both, hang on the walls. Two boulders bisect the cave, obscuring what the other half holds.
A robed kobold comes out from behind the boulders, puffing out his chest before speaking to the party in Common.
"You think you can trespass in the lair of the Blood Vow Tribe with impunity? I am Roaghaz, and I serve the great Lord Aeteperax! He rewards his supplicants for ferocity and faithfulness. We shall add your bones to those hanging on these walls, and our great lord shall sup on your flesh!"

"Then it is your time to die Roaghaz! Think of the number of your Kobolds we have went through to get here. No Sling Bullet, Rat, Trap, Ballista, or Undead would stop us. I suggest you give up. All of us have one thing in mind, ensuring Nighttail leads the tribe. If that means spilling your and any followers blood then we will. Any of you wishing to lay down arms you will be spared!"
Darb Pointystick |
Darb stars down yet another kobold.

Upon Wakiyan's words, Roaghaz glares. "The traitor is leading this rabble? What chief would she be to have bigfoots do her work! Guards, KILL HER!", as several spears are visible behind the boulders.
Darb dashes forward and narrowly cuts the kobold leader. No SA on this since in this case, he was prepared and will not be considered flat-footed. Get some flank on him!
Nighttail then dashes into the room, hurling a javelin at the chief, taunting him as well! "You and your foolhardy devotion to a false power would have gotten us killed! My claws will save the tribe!"
Nighttail javelin @ Roaghaz: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

That's a lot of 4's Wakiyan
Roaghaz steps away from Darb and tries to slow down the influx of bigfoots... by pulling out a wand and covering the area in sticky webbing!
Hak Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Jinx Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Nori Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Amazingly, everyone in the webbed area avoids getting entangled. The webbed area still counts as difficult terrain. Moving through the webbing will force a DC 13 CMB or Escape Artist check as part of the move action; failing that will cause you to be grappled. Wakiyan, you'll have to move through the webbing to get a shot as this much gives Roaghaz or the kobolds total cover from your blasts!

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Wakiyan's ice and water armor allows him to slip through the webbing to the other side.
Full move through the webbing since its difficult terrain.
GM Higaki |
While Nori nimbly gets herself into position, her blade falls far short of striking the kobold leader.
Two more guards, armed with spears, move out from behind the boulders. One heads to try and turn Nighttail into a pincushion while the other attacks Jinx, who dared to strike at Roaghaz!
