Okie dokie, I will change that. Kinda running willy nilly today.

Edit: Map should be visible now. Let me know if it isn't.

Opened for me, thanks!

Silver Crusade

So just wanting to make sure I'm pronouncing everyone's names correct, here's what I think they sound like:

Aesantiel: Ay (as mayor) -san (as in sand) -tea -el
Simon: Sigh -mon(as in monster)
Cedrick: Said -rick
Krygmar: Cry -guh -mar (as in march)

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Grand Lodge

female Elf (Taegrejee na'Maauteran) monk 1 - DECEASED

@elross - correct for Aesantiel. I anticipate someday, someone shortening it to "Aysa" (Ay-sah). But I can't see her deciding to do that on her own. Maybe once someone puts it to her, she'll pick it up, 'to be more readily accepted'.

  • Tiefling Mindchemist 2 / Lore Warden 1

It’s supposed to be pronounced ‘Kee-der-iss-k-k’. It’s perfectly understandable, he gets his name mispronounced all the time...
and I’m totally yanking your chain.

    Silver Crusade

    Male Dwarf Paladin (Stonelord)/1

Yep sounds right for Krygmar. Guess my nick name if I could choose would be Rocky ;)

As a side note, in situations where the entire party is rolling a d20 for something, like group Perception checks or Initiative, I am a big supporter of the GM just rolling for everyone. Some may disagree with me, but I would rather the GM roll and post the outcome so we can RP and move on with the story, then sit and wait for a day of real time for everyone to post a die roll and then find out what’s going on.

Obviously, it’s your call GM, but having you roll for everyone in situations like these could save us a whole week in real life time to complete the scenario.

    Silver Crusade

Fighter 1 - HP 13/13 (anything Dex related lowered by 1 modifier point)

I would agree with Cedrick, mainly because say I'm not able to make it to a computer today and everyone is waiting on me. Atleast the other players could continue the roleplaying while waiting instead of waiting for a simple d20 roll. Thanks for pointing that out Cedrick, it's not something I would not have considered, because I've only having GM'd real life games.

    Grand Lodge

female Elf (Taegrejee na'Maauteran) monk 1 - DECEASED

@cedrick: concur, though it does put the GM on the hook to look up all the modifiers.

Indeed, but he has already reviewed all of our character sheets, and it’s easy enough to make a cheat sheet that lists everyone’s Perception bonus, Initiative bonus, etc. It can also be pre-formatted so that it’s an easy copy/paste whenever it comes up.

    Shadow Lodge

    Oracle 1 (HP 11/11)

I also agree with the above.

Okay, then I will make future group perception checks at the highest bonus. I was planning on handling initiative, just had not said anything ;)

Um, I meant rolling for everyone individually, not one roll for the party.

    Silver Crusade

Fighter 1 - HP 13/13 (anything Dex related lowered by 1 modifier point)

I believe Cedrick means like this:

    Perception Checks:

    Elross 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
    Cedrick 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
    Krygmar 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
    Aesantiel 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
    Simon 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

    Ah, gotcha!

    Silver Crusade

    Male Dwarf Paladin (Stonelord)/1

Sorry guys busy day yesterday :/

Yeah I don't mind you rolling anything for me. I would also ask how are you going to run combat? Just out of curiosity ;)

@Krygmar: Probably the same as many DM's, I'll roll your initiative and you just declare your actions whenever.

@Group: I'm feeling horrifyingly sick, so please forgive me for not posting in gameplay today.

package package - who's got the package? (the medicine...)

    NOT IT!

From the gameplay I'm guessing Krygmar or Simon, and I'm thinking more likely Simon.

    Other thoughts?

Hey guys, bad news. I had a waterline burst from under my house last night, so I'm not going to be very talkative for a few days. I'll post what I can, I just don't know how often.

    Hahaha...

[ooc]OK, she's not a regular drunk - apparently her drink is very expensive. Could she be hiding someone here? Running a safe house of some sort - her guest drinks (and occasionally throw a drink on her, and shady-looking folk come to pay her off and cover her expenses?

I'll bet Elross has determined that she's not actually drunk, but her clothes smell of alcohol...

    Silver Crusade

Fighter 1 - HP 13/13 (anything Dex related lowered by 1 modifier point)

I liked your cat idea better.

    Grand Lodge

female Elf (Taegrejee na'Maauteran) monk 1 - DECEASED

yah well, Aesantiel's not a brilliant deductive thinker. She's not brilliant - not a dim bulb either. Pretty good intuition. However she's exceptionally self-aware. She's not going to act with conviction based on a rational deduction. She might have an intuitive insight, take it on board as a 'fact' and act on it rapidly and decisively.

So - Aesantiel mistrusts her 'detectiveness' without some outside validation. And now is not the time for a supportive brainstorming session.

    Grand Lodge

female Elf (Taegrejee na'Maauteran) monk 1 - DECEASED

new theory - Baltwin's children are the shady looking characters, and they provide mom with enough $$ for her tipple. This might very innocently be her having a drinking problem, but otherwise all is on the up-and-up.

This is neat - and challenging. I keep trying to find internal dialogue for Aesantiel. I keep getting into her head to try and capture and document her thoughts, and I keep hearing, "Ohhhmmmmm".

It does not affect the current situation, but for future reference my Sense Motive is +6.

I do commend you for rolling for everyone and posting the results. Thanks GM.

It just made sense to do it that way.

EDIT: Cedrick, I was using your Sense Motive from the character sheet provided.

By the way, I will be out of town Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully, we can get to a point where you can get away with "campfire talk". I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying running this motley group and their interactions.

Careful with those little old ladies, they have the strength of Plot!

    Grand Lodge

female Elf (Taegrejee na'Maauteran) monk 1 - DECEASED

I do have the feeling I'm bucking the tape here. However, Aesantiel has made it very clear to me the player that she's stubborn and unforgiving. Also that she has almost no tolerance for passive-aggressive deception. I knew she had the capacity for mercilessness. I didn't anticipate she'd be beating old ladies first thing out of Pathfinder school, but them's the breaks.

Out of curiosity, was Aesantiel inspired by the Aiel in Wheel of Time? That would make a lot of sense to me.

Not intentionally- been a long time since I've read those, and I'd have to go hunt up the reference.

FYI I will be heading to Dragoncon in Atlanta this weekend. I am leaving Thursday morning and will not be returning until Monday evening. This will likely prevent me from posting over the weekend. Sorry for slowing things down.

<envy> my regards to the ATL. I went to DC throughout the 80s and early 90s while I was in school down there.

Go see Frank Branham's board game things - he should be demo'ing at DC. He's an old bud, and a gaming fanatic. Always has good stuff.

We'll see where we get and, if we need to put things on hold, we'll do that. Otherwise, I'll make the necessary rolls for you.
