It's a double door. It's about 30 feet wide, with each door cover 15 feet of its span. You can open one or both at a time, and the crossbar inside allows you to lock both at once.

They are double doors. A single person can not close both at once. Wetscale and Hadin need to shut the doors together. Then next round one can throw on the bar if they want.

So they fight harder to get there and kill both PCs on the ground that stand in their way. Rather not have that happen. We want them to surrender or to end the fight quickly. At least I do, then again I am not one of said PCs on the ground.

Regarding the layout of Oleg's that I'd like to use...

Since I lack the technical skill to actually change the map everyone knows (and loves, I'm sure), I'll just lay out how it's changing. Essentially, I want to leave it a little room for expansion. The market yard in the center is about twice the size it is here, and buildings are a little more spread out.

So really the whole fort is probably getting about 50' wider/taller. Nothing hugely substantial else is changing.

Really, it leaves room for Oleg (or you) to add stuff as the campaign advances. It also means that you and this elven fellow both probably have enough room to ride horses a bit without tripping over everything. If I get time, I'll try and draw a really, really bad map of it.

@Karina: The bossman is about 60 ft away on the far end of the market yard, and the rest are all still fairly close, ranging from 20 feet on the close end to 40 feet for the guy who chased after Oleg.

Regarding Beyond Earth...

It really is more like a big patch, but I grew up on Civ and can't help but buy it. It's got some neat new features, but I feel like some of them are a little underutilized. I'm also not sure how I feel about some of the design choices, but it has a really good style about it. Overall, I'm enjoying the purchase. Unless you're hardcore about civ, though, wait for a sale.

I'm enjoying the heck out of Civ:BE. It's definitely not just an expansion pack. Completely different technology progression. Somewhat customizable units, with veteran bonuses (XP) still there. New win conditions. Completely different graphics. Etc. etc. etc.

I've been told it has the feel of Civilization mechanics in a theme that doesn't mesh with the series. Given the 2-D hex map, technology tree-->web, factions, requests, and pseudo-individualization of units, I am seeing much alteration and little augmentation - which is why I viewed it as an expansion. This made me surprised by the $50 price tag, so I will probably take Helio's advice and wait until the sales come around.

Civ II was the best. Wasted hours and hours of my life playing that. Have not been impressed with anything beyond that. If I had a computer that could still play it, I would play it today.

AoM was recently re-released for modern operating systems. They did a bit of engine overhauling too IIRC.

Is there someone that is proficient with the short bow and not a long bow that could use this +2 Strength bow? For Den the bow is a slight average damage upgrade as it does 3-8 (5.5 average), while his current bow does 1-8 (4.5 average). So the 1 point increase is not significant enough to take the bow, IF someone else benefits from it more.

I'm proficient with shortbows but not longbows, however, with my strength penalty, I'll be looking at a crossbow rather than a shortbow.
