Hooooly crap. Wow. Just to make sure, DM Hector, did you include in our saves the +2 bonus to saves vs. spells cast by evil characters/creatures? Assuming it hasn't been a full minute since Protection from Evil was cast and we came in, that is. If it has been, then nevermind.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

I didn't include it in the rolls, but I remembered it before I posted. It wouldn't have made a difference. Everyone completely tanked the roll.

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

Well, poo. Looks like it's arcane caster vs. arcane caster, then. Good luck, Yera! Yera, Yera, she's our girl!

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

I ran this AP for a few sessions at home with a group of friends before we decided to play Carrion Crown instead. I noticed that a lot of these beginning fights can potentially be quite rough.

Male Human Paladin of Iomedae1 (Warrior of the Shining Light) FC

Would have appreciated a chance to respond to having detected evil but hey ho. In addition I didn't order anyone else into the room..I can see we are going to have a problem with people not following instructions here.As afar as I was concerned I was inside Alleria was covering from the door and the others were still outside.

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

If that was the intent, my apologies. My assumption when DM Hector asked for Perception rolls was that we were all going inside to check the place out. We all made specific mention of seeing the man and our reaction to him.

Female Human Gunslinger (Pistolero/ Mysterious Stranger) 1

Yeah for some reason in my mind we entered but now looking back I'm not sure why I thought that? My one problem with PbP can be the memory of the moment. That said I am not surprised I tanked a WIL roll :)

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

I also was under the assumption you all entered the room. I'll get maps up from here on out to prevent this problem.

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

In the meantime...will we survive? Will we will we? Come oooon, Yera! Woo!

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

I know Nirthuus has been having some IRL stuff going on lately that's slowing posting down. If I don't have an action by the end of the day today, I'll NPC Yera until Nirthuus is back to get the combat going.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

To save on having way too many posts of me fighting myself, I'm going to do the first three rounds until you guys regain consciousness.

You're unconscious. You don't know what's going on...:
Yera waves her hands and throws a blob of thick, slimy grease beneath the man's feet. Man's Ref save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18. The man manages to keep standing and, snarling, reaches into thin air behind him. He throws his hand forward and a streaking blast of light flies out, hitting Yera squarely in the chest for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage. Yera reels from the blast, but recovers and gracefully slips forward to butt the man with her staff. Staff attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18. The rod crashes into his gut for 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 damage, and he wheezes as the breath is forced from his lungs. Angry, he slashes at her with his knife. Dagger attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8, but the elf neatly dodges out of the way. Twirling her staff above her head, Yera slams it down for a powerful overhead strike. Staff attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14. Just as the staff is about to connect with the man's skull, a semi-visible barrier turns the blow aside. He grins at the shock on the wizards face. He scoots backwards, trying to keep his footing in the grease. Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15. Still managing not to fall, he mumbles the words to another spell. Yera's eyes widen in shock as she braces for another Color Spray. Yera's Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12.

Yera's eyes droop closed, and she falls to the ground just as you all begin to become aware of your surroundings. With horror you all realize you are still unable to move. The man grins wickedly in the light of his spell. The last thing you see is the man's hands moving to form the signs of another Color Spray spell.

Is this the end of our heroes?! Find out next time on Pathfinder!

I'll get the next part up shortly.

Female Elf Wizard (Teleporter) 1

Sorry for being out of contact for so long. Lots of stuff has happened in a really short time.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

It's all good. Life trumps gaming. I think everybody here understands.

Female Human Gunslinger (Pistolero/ Mysterious Stranger) 1

I don't get anything I have been Color Sprayed into befuddled unconsciousness. Were I to be conscious, however, I would agree with Hector :p

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

I concur.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

GM Screen:
Alleria Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Basil Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Gideon Fort 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Yeralithi Fort: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Basil awakens to darkness (the natural sort, not the blinded/blindfolded sort) and a smarting headache. Shortly after Basil comes to Gideon and Yeralithi awaken as well, followed by Alleria a few minutes later. You all find yourselves bound and lying/sitting in a corner of the tavern you battled that man in, though it would seem he is gone... at least for the moment.

Male Human Paladin of Iomedae1 (Warrior of the Shining Light) FC

Basil struggles with his ropes in an effort to get free but to no avail.

DC is 20+ opponents CMB and with ACP I can't even come close, even if it was possible to a take 20 with escape artist

Female Elf Wizard (Teleporter) 1

Yera concentrates for a few seconds and attempts to teleport without her bonds to a clear area a few feet away.

I don't know if this is even going to work, but it's worth a shot.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Your teleport power acts as Dimension Door, which states that you may bring along touched objects. I'm going to say that your bonds do not come with you unless for some strange reason you want them to.

Male Human Paladin of Iomedae1 (Warrior of the Shining Light) FC

Basil blinks in surprise as Yeralithi suddenly moves a few feet sideways and her bonds fall to the floor.."Now that is what I call a useful skill..quickly cut our bonds and we can set an ambush for our friend when he returns..unsporting I know but..ahh..he started it"

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

Just to let y'all know, after Christmas I'm going to be out of town for an anniversary/Christmas trip with my wife and likely won't be able to post again until Saturday or Sunday. Feel free to DMPC Gideon! Y'all have a Merry Christmas!

Gideon slowly awakes from his state of unconsciousness with a groan, his vision blurry. What exactly had happened to them? He wasn't sure. He tried to move his arms, only to find his hands bound behind his back. His foggy mind's immediate reaction was panic, but then his Pathfinder training kicked in and he calmed down, drawing in a deep breath and concentrating on focusing his vision; what little he had, anyway.

He heard Basil speaking to his left, something about Yeralithi having a useful skill. It was then that he realized she wasn't bound, but was standing a few feet to the side of an empty chair, ropes laying on the floor at it's legs.

"Whatever you just did...useful indeed. I think a bit of revenge is definitely in order."

Female Elf Wizard (Teleporter) 1

Teleporting out of her bonds was the idea.
Yera looks at her unbound hands and breaths a small sigh of relief. She then quickly begins to untie the others, beginning with Sir Basil.
"I was not sure if that would work. The first time I tried to teleport, I did so, but my clothes did not go with me. Nor did my hair. And, no, I will not demonstrate."

Female Human Gunslinger (Pistolero/ Mysterious Stranger) 1

Alleria just sort of groans as she comes to with the action of escaping already coming to. Gods damned wizards, no offense Yera Alleria takes to blinking and working her jaw as she struggles to overcome the negative effects of the color spray.

Male Human Paladin of Iomedae1 (Warrior of the Shining Light) FC

Basil grins at Yeralithi's comment "Oh I'm sure it was a quite delightful sight..apart from the hair that is" he says as he recovers his sword and moves to stand to one side of the door

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

So the plan is to hang here and wait for him to return?

Female Human Gunslinger (Pistolero/ Mysterious Stranger) 1

Are we convinced he will return alone? Maybe overconfident from beating our ass all by his lonesome? I'm concerned he is going to show up with slavers and if there are a lot of them that could be bad news.

Hector are we (or I guess really only me) missing anything? Did he just tie us up to get out?

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

That seems to be the case as best you can tell.

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

After being untied, Gideon huffs out a breath, rubbing his freed wrists to soothe the red marks the rope had made. "I think it may perhaps be better to hide somewhere inside where we can keep an eye on this fellow when he returns. I'm all for getting a little payback for such a poor welcome, but there's no need to walk into another situation unaware of what awaits us."

Male Human Paladin of Iomedae1 (Warrior of the Shining Light) FC

Hmm..if he comes back with friends then maybe we'd have a fight on our hands..on theother hand none of us is a professional sneaky type so hiding outside is probably not going to work either

"Maybe we should just leave..can you imagine the look on his face when he returns to finnd us gone..We can inform the Watch and let them deal with it..question the chap once they have him and his associates in custody?"

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

"That is an option...though I worry about him escaping before the Watch arrives to arrest him. Regardless, we should decide quickly, before our quarry returns."

Female Elf Wizard (Teleporter) 1

"I think we may not see him again. Especially if he sees us first."

Female Human Gunslinger (Pistolero/ Mysterious Stranger) 1

Well let's find a spot outside and keep an eye out. Don't need to be professional if there is a shadow ans you sit still. If he doesn't show up we let the Watch know and move on.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

So you're going to wait then?

Male Human Paladin of Iomedae1 (Warrior of the Shining Light) FC

"Very well then we stay but outside.." Basil decides and opens the door while staying to one side..just in case their adversary is outside the door at this moment.

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

Gideon nods in agreement. "We are much more likely to have opportunity for escape if we wait outside. I think it's a good idea."

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Let me see some Stealth checks then. Don't forget to modify for darkness. There is practically no lighting in this area, and though you don't know exactly what time it is, you do know it's pitch black outside.

Male Human Paladin of Iomedae1 (Warrior of the Shining Light) FC

"Kill the lights we don't want to be sillhouetted in the doorway when we leave" Basil hisses to the others.

Stealth with +5 for total Darkness 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

Hoo boy. This should be fun.
Stealth: 1d20 - 4 + 5 ⇒ (14) - 4 + 5 = 15

Female Elf Wizard (Teleporter) 1

Stealth 1d20 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 5 = 12
"With cat-like tread, upon our prey we steal."

Female Human Gunslinger (Pistolero/ Mysterious Stranger) 1

Stealth!: 1d20 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 5 = 9

I knew it was rude of me to take the "awesome ninja" feat because it was so broken... ; - ) Not quite EPIC fail :p

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

You wait in silence for what feels like hours. Nothing moves in the dark of the docks. Just as you're about to give up hope, the sun begins to crest - dawn in nigh. People will be awakening soon. That's when you see the figure approaching in the breaking gloom, walking confidently and with a hint of speed towards you.

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

Is the figure in range of Gideon's vision? If he's outside 30 feet, Gideon can't see him.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Correction, everyone except Gideon can make out a figure. Gideon can, however, hear somewhat hurried footsteps.

Female Human Gunslinger (Pistolero/ Mysterious Stranger) 1

Alleria places her hand on her pistol ever so slowly, anxious that she may need to draw the weapon depending on what happens next.

Male Human Paladin of Iomedae1 (Warrior of the Shining Light) FC

Basil holds himself ready to move once things start.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

As the figure approaches through the rising dawn, it immediately becomes apparent that it is not the man who left you here. Quite the opposite in fact, it is not a man at all. As she comes to the entrance of the ramshackle building, Koriah lets out a low whistle. "This doesn't look like an ambush waiting to happen at all," she says with a smile slowly creeping across her face.

Male Human Paladin of Iomedae1 (Warrior of the Shining Light) FC

"I take it our...friend from earlier has been..ahh..dealt with then" Basil asks, thankful that the darkness hides a blush of embarassment.

Male Human Oracle 4; HP 35/35; AC 18/11/17; F+3/R+2/W+4; Init +5; Per +7

Gideon releases a slow breath at the approach of Koriah, though he's a little put out by the all-night stakeout coming to naught. "M'Lady Koriah, I am afraid we are not yet very much closer to discovering what happened to Miss Vancaskerkin. We opted to return here amid rumors of slavers operating from the docks when we were waylaid by a mage of some apparent skill...that or we were all just having a horrible night. Either way, we were bound when we regained consciousness, but managed to escape from the ropes that had tied us thanks to Yeralithi, then decided to wait and see if our assailant returned. Unfortunately, he did not. We will pick up the trail once we have returned to this 'Fenster the Blight' character."

Female Human Gunslinger (Pistolero/ Mysterious Stranger) 1

Alleria nods as Gideon explains the situation but then feels a sense of suspicion wash over her, had they told he Pathfinder where they were going? Fortuitous timing or something else? Alleria agrees with herself to be wary but not accusatory as the situation unfolds.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

"Well I had a bit of a tip," she says and hands Basil a small note.

We have something you might want. If you do, come to the Puffy Pelican tavern, Dockside, to collect it. It is signed only with a symbol of a twisted serpent upon a silver shield.

"Don't worry, Sheila hasn't seen it," she says with a sly grin. "And I've had my own fair share of unfortunate 'accidents' adventuring. So, unless you all feel like telling this little part of your tale, no one'll be hearing a word of it from me. After all," she says elbowing Gideon in the rib, "maybe one day you'll be in a position to return the favor."

She puts a finger to her lip, looking pensive. "As to your captor, I have no idea. That note was on Heidmarch Manor's door this morning. That's all I know."
