Male Human

Glad to see that you're back, Hector! I'm glad to hear that things seem to be settling down; I hope that they worked out to your satisfaction.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Time will tell, but things are alright for the time being.

Male Human

And again I say I hope and pray things will stay alright or get better than that. Regardless, I'm glad that you're back!

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

I PM'd Andavar, and have got no response. I'll NPC his actions until I either hear from him or we hit the next scene. At which point if there's still no response, we'll move along without him.

Qadira

Male Human Desk Monkey 2/ Logistics Guru 3/ Over-educated 2/Gamer 6

Thats unfortunate, maybe we will get lucky and he'll be back.

Male Human

Unfortunate indeed. I hope everything is ok in his corner of the world. That being the case, are we going to try and recruit another person into the group or go with the four we have?

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

We'll continue on, but I'll give him a little time before I re-open recruitment.

Also, FYI, if I'm absent for a few days, it's because I'm right in the way of Hurricane Isaac.

Male Human Optician 10

Stay safe!

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Eh, I'm not worried. After Rita everyone around here's is freaking out. We haven't had more than a few drops of rain. I figure we'll get some fairly rough wind and rain, but nothing incredibly terrible. Not like people are expecting. Monday gas stations were selling out of gas, the store I work at sold out of generators, gas cans, cases of water, and D batteries in a matter of hours. Wal-Mart was barren. People were going crazy. I only let you guys know because it doesn't take more than a light breeze to knock out power down here, so there is a decent likelihood of me losing electricity for a day or two.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Also, a thought: are there any additional rules you guys would like to utilize for this AP? The Player's Guide has that Pathfinder Society fame and prestige system. Also, there are Hero Points, and I own the critical hits and fumbles decks. Thoughts?

All for using the fame and Prestige..I'm a PFS member after all..but the crit and fumbles deck is a bit too..gamey for me.I'm neutral on hero points

Male Human

I'm up for the fame and prestige system as well..the rest of it I'm neutral towards. I haven't ever seen the crit and fumbles deck so I can't make an informed decision there, and we are using hero points in the Jade Regent game but I haven't actually used one yet, so I can't make any legitimate claims to knowledge there, either.

Qadira

Male Human Desk Monkey 2/ Logistics Guru 3/ Over-educated 2/Gamer 6

Fame! Prestige! Yay!

Neutral on the hero points but I say nay to the decks, I feel like they are more fun at the table with the drum roll and the actual card pull.

Male Human Optician 10

Now that I've had a chance to read up on it, I like the fame and prestige system. I wasn't sure how it would work for a non-PFS game, but it looks good.

I'm neutral about the hero points. We haven't used them in Wellard's Jade Regent game. I keep forgetting about it, so it's like it isn't even there.

I think the critical and fumble decks are better for a table-top game where most of the fun is having the players draw their own cards and read them aloud.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Btw, Wellard, does Basil worship Iomedae of Abadar? Your background and personality say Iomedae.

As far as the Hero Points go, in Wellard's game you have to remember that we built our characters with 25 points. Therefor, our ability scores are high, thus allowing us to defeat monsters without too much trouble. Hence why, imho, we haven't used them yet. Haven't really needed them.

ah sorry he was originally created as an Iomedan..well actually he was originally created as a Paladin of St Cuthbert for a Greyhawk game that ended disasterously..I'll change it

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

I always did like St. Cuthbert.

Male Human

Hector, are you going to be using the extra stuff that was posted on the Paizo blog about the start of the second book in the AP? The extra material that got cut from the print version?

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Haven't really been keeping up well with the Paizo blog lately. Send me a link?

Male Human

Sorry for taking so long to get the link for this info to you, Hector! The campaign page on my profile never said that there was a new post on the discussion page. Here you go:

http://paizo.com/download/pathfinder/PZO9062-WebEnhancement.zip

Also, have you decided if you're going to open recruitment to replace Andavar or if we're gonna stick with the four of us?

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Np, and I think we'll stick with four for now unless it becomes apparent that you need the extra help.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Just FYI, I've been really out of sorts this past week. Will have a decent update tomorrow.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

FYI, my comp is on the fritz ATM. Posting this from my phone. Ill try to keep up, but posting may be sporadic while I get it worked on.

Qadira

Male Human Desk Monkey 2/ Logistics Guru 3/ Over-educated 2/Gamer 6

Sorry guys, I got knocked on my ass by a major virus and I am just now getting back on my feet. It will probably be another 24-36 hours before I get back on posting. Sorry for the delay.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Np, I'm having to wait till a new motherboard comes in for my comp. Stuck with mobile updates until then.

Male Human

When it rains, it pours. Good luck gettin' back into the swing of things, guys!

Qadira

Male Human Desk Monkey 2/ Logistics Guru 3/ Over-educated 2/Gamer 6

Nothing is harder than trying to format a post with a touchscreen keyboard on a phone. *blech* :p

Male Human

So...Reign of Winter should be starting in the next three weeks or so, right at our doorstep! I wanted to go ahead and ask again which of the people in this game were wanting to play that adventure path so I could figure out if any extra recruiting needs to be done.

So...if any of you were wanting to play in the RoW game I'll run, please let me know. Thank you!

Male Human

Come one, come all!

DM-Phil's Reign of Winter Discussion Thread

Qadira

Male Human Desk Monkey 2/ Logistics Guru 3/ Over-educated 2/Gamer 6

Ick I have been there. Glad you are back up and running!

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Sorry guys. Been a hell of a week in every sense of the phrase. Back up and going again.

Qadira

Male Human Desk Monkey 2/ Logistics Guru 3/ Over-educated 2/Gamer 6

All good hopefully things are taking a turn for the better.

Shadow Lodge

Yeah, they have on one front. However, my wife's younger bro. just got rushed into critical care. We'll be leaving in the morning to go visit everyone. Should still be able to keep up posting, though.

Male Human

So...got a request for my favorite PbP group.

I had a seizure for the first time in my life yesterday morning and have ultimately discovered that it was a result of two nodules and a lesion in my right brain. There was a lot of swelling and edema around the area and I'm currently in the hospital taking steroids to reduce the swelling. I have a biopsy scheduled Friday to determine if it is malignant before we decide what route to take with treatment.

If any of you are praying people, please send a message Heaven-ward for me, please.

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Sorry guys for the delay. Prepping for a move and been sick for the last week. Had me knocked on my bum. I'll get a response up when I get home from work this evening.

I'm really sorry to hear that Phil. I'll send a few words to the big man upstairs for ya.

I'll ask the Goddess to watch over you Phil

Male Human

Medical status update for you guys: After consulting with an oncologist in Warner Robins, Georgia this morning, I have learned that I have either a grade 2 or grade 3 astrocytoma. It IS cancerous. It is NOT the really bad kind. The oncologist I spoke to told me I have already begun the process of scheduling an appointment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas with a very experienced neurosurgeon there. I'll find out tomorrow morning when exactly my consultation appointment is but it's almost definitely going to be either next Tuesday or next Thursday and my surgery will likely follow within a couple days of that.

For at least a few days following the surgery, it's probably a safe assumption that I'll be incommunicado with everybody..which I hate, because I love you guys!

Male Human

Medical Update: I'm at MD Anderson in Houston going through new patient stuff today. Very busy schedule until early afternoon meeting with different specialists and getting the actual surgery scheduled for tomorrow. I should be able to post again tonight, but after that I'm not sure when I'll be able to post again.

They're telling me to expect a local recover of 7-10 days, but it's really all gonna depend on me, so expect me to be incommunicado for around a week or so, beginning tomorrow. Sorry for having to do this to you guys! As soon as I'm able to, I'll let you all know what's going on. My wife has told me she'll sign on for me tomorrow after the surgery is over to let you know how it went.

Male Human

Phillip is feeling fine... well, as fine as one can feel after an all-day brain operation. They think they removed over 95% percent of his tumor. We'll know for sure after he has a post-op MRI.

He's awake, talking, walking, about to get to eat something... Just letting everyone know he's okay like he asked me to do!

Male Human

Hey gang! Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm back home, recovering from the surgery. Got some very good news from the neurooncologist. The mass that they found in my brain is a grade 2 astrocytoma, the lower grade it could've been. The neurosurgeon was able to remove (according to him) 95-98% of the tumor with the surgery, which my wife has already told you.

At present, because the tumor is grade 2 and the nature of grade 2 astrocytomas is that they are very slow-growing, I do not require any follow-up treatment in the form of radiation or chemotherapy. Moving forward, the treatment plan seems to be that I'm going to have to have an MRI done roughly every quarter to check and see if the tumor has started growing again. When it does, it is at that point that I'll need to seek out radiation/chemo or whatever. But for right now, I am hunky-dory!

Male Human (American) Dungeon Master (Action Movie Director) 17

Ah yes, I had forgot both of our casters were out atm. Also great to hear that Phil!
